Management of this clinic needs to do something about their policy and procedures. If walk in patient service can not be provided within a reasonable time and it proven then stop the ability for walk in and make it an appointment only clinic. The amount of complaints and reviews about extremely long waits and this clinic has done nothing to resolve the issue. Also why allow such a large patient list if your clinic can not manage or provide quality medical service.

My daughter was complaining of chest pains and was in a lot of pain holding her chest and being unable to walk. The receptionist told us to sit down and that the nurse would attend to us in half an hour or so. Anywhere else heart issues are an emergency but I was just told to sit and wait. Once the nurse finally saw my daughter there was a flurry of activity and an ambulance was called and we were taken to hospital. There was a lack of transparency about what was going on. The nurse nor doctor explained anything to us and I was expected to find out things from the paramedic and then hospital. If you want your medical emergency to be taken seriously then don't come here.

Worst place to visit when you’re sick… absolutely Rubbish. I received a call one night before that doctor wants to discuss my Blood Report. Over phone, they called me at 8am. And it took them 4 hours. I was sitting there waiting there on the waiting room like an idiot. Before hand it took me 3 hours to visit but today more than 4 hours(12/06/2022). Totally Rubbish. It was my worst decision that i made them my GP. I Will never visit this clinic ever again.

Sadly no provision to give ZERO rating. My son had a broken limb, took approx 5 hours to be attended to. Was asked to come for a review next day another couple of hours gone by before we were seen. It so happened that the casting was not put right so I was asked to see a nurse to get the casting corrected. We were allocated a nurse, she walked passed us each time not giving any update. Waited almost 1.5 hrs until my patience broke. Spoke to the receptionist who couldn't fetch the nurse. It ended up the doctor who attended us do the casting again. We left very frustrated and were told that some one will call to discuss the x-ray. We got a call 3 days later and were asked to visit the clinic. I went and told the receptionist that we have an appointment with the doctor. Was made to wait for another 2 hours before the doctor called us only to be told that there was nothing of concern in the x-ray report. They could have very well told us that in the phone and no need to visit the clinic.

A normal (but long) experience. No clue what all the fuss is about, receptions were fine, nurse was polite, doctor was friendly. I went in at opening (8am) but there were already 20-30 people waiting to be seen. I don't have a GP so I enrolled and paid $16 for consultation ($50 casual). I knew what I needed (prescription for malaria tablets for upcoming travel) and explained it to the receptionist. I then had to see a nurse before seeing the doctor (nurse took my vitals, probably a waste of time). I explained to the doctor that I wanted Malarone and he advised these are not subsidised (the other option was free) and he happily provided a prescription for them. Go first thing in the morning if you can, you will likely save yourself a lot of suffering. Apparently this is a travel clinic (for overseas meds), so might be more packed than other branches.

The system at Local Doctors Otara needs major attention. The waiting time to see Nurse and doctor is shocking and pathetic. Visiting once here due to urgent care and despite being very ill I had to wait 4 hours to see the doctor. The management does not seem to care about their patient or customer and despite making several complaint there is no changes made to their clinic regime. Waiting time still there. One thing standout to me was meeting Dr Terence Lobo who is best doctor I met at local doctors. I would recommend to void this clinic visit until it is emergency or last resource.

From front desk to nurses, very very poor service. They talk to you by not even looking at face, head down all they will ask date of birth, cash or eftpos and wait I took my mother on wheel chair cant walk vomiting & diaherrioa and got told to sit amongst other people, than after sitting with others, only got told to come in the room when my mother started vomiting in the waiting area Nurse who attended had a grunt behaviour, speaking to old sick lady who barely can sit on wheel chair Indian nurses talking loudly n giggling and nothing work related in there language , talking about there places they live , love letters , Hindi dialogue , number of cats they have , have some one got a licence yet All nurses n front desk staff drinking coke n eating chicken in that working space , just like having party. Don’t they have a lunch room? Iam sure every work place has a staff room/ lunch room, you don’t eat in-front of people n make noise, it’s an hospital where sick people are present. My mother was in front of that room, and these guys eating, talking, laughing. Is that a work ethics in hospital where patient is on sodium chloride drip, needs quite time so she can sleep Non of the nurses were wearing masks properly, all had in under neath the chin and telling us to wear mask Nurse don’t want to assist any patients as just staying inside that room Is that how hospital works and they put a sign as we do not tolerate any abuse to staff , probably this kind of behaviours is the cause of abuse Only thing was promising was the doctor Very good doctor, keep asking n checking and talking us through Happy if this can be passed to our new health minister

Most pathetic doctors I’ve ever been to! Was a 4-5 hour wait JUST TO SEE A NURSE And some nurses have really ugly attitudes at this place especially that old lady Samoan nurse that works there, she took us to the back just to walk off and do nothing yet she took others to the back and checked them straight away. Racist vibes maybe lol. Useless! If you’re in a lot of pain trust me it ain’t even worth it! I sat there watched so many kids and old people walk in just to be told it’s a 6 hour wait when it wasn’t even as packed as it was when i arrived? I saw so many nurses laughing talking and eating in the room behind the main desk like no one is waiting and when you walk to the main desk to ask questions they look like they don’t want to bother listening lol. What a joke!! I wouldn’t recommend this place to ANY ONE! If you go here you’ll be sitting there feeling like you’re closer to your death bed. Never again!!!!

Good bye Local Doctors, you guys are just nightmare. Laughing and mocking at sick people who are waiting for more than 8 hours. I was there with 3 years old, doctor seen us after 9 hours. They should have sign outside as "Beware of Frontdesk Staff". Just bunch of bullies who laugh at sick people.

Time frames for waiting time is getting worse 5 to 7 hours then they expect you to wait in car the whole time when you could be shopping or attending other appointments. Doctors never stay true to their words simple request as it was their fault due to lack of time management and organization stuff was not done for the need of my family. Consultation times seem to be less, and no cultural safety work ethics, professionalism nor any cultural competencies. I am glad we switched to private as yes we are paying but at least our voices are heard, our medical attention is attended to, scripts and important medical documents needed are prompt. Don't recommend free but you suffer!!!!!!

Been calling most night to follow up on behalf of my elderly dad who is waiting for callback from doctor. Receptionist hung up on me multiple times, terrible service how hard is it to just say sorry doctor is busy will call you tomorrow? Utterly rude behaviour, no need for it. If this was your parents health someone was calling about, I would offer any reassurance no matter how small.

Very poor customer service. Front staff is rude to patients. Have experienced this myself as well as while waiting for my turn, have noticed staff being rude to some other patient that was infront of me too. Need alot of patience and politeness knowing patients are already frustrated inside due to hours of waiting to see the doctor.

I was there with my wife for her eegular checkup. We reached 7.30am and was first checked by nurse around 9.30am and then somebody probably said our name (that's what they said) at 11am to be moved on to doctor's area for another waiting queue. Well, we were super attentively waiting to hear our name but I don't where the hell they called us because we were in the waiting area and were waiting for this moment for around almost 3hrs for now. Then one of the receptionist lady called on our phone and was so rude and asked us if we are still here and we were right next to the reception area. We headed to her and she had no respect and was super rude and I kind of flet like want to say something but I ignored. Now, my question is, if we can wait for our turn for 3-4 for hours sitting there to be seen by the doctor, why they can not be polite after calling maybe for once and we couldn't not hear because were trying to keep ourself busy and entertained with the surrounding because of long waiting. That is so sad how some sacist people can ruin the reputation of everything. That receptionist was thinking that maybe she owned that pleace but if she does then she should know that it wasn't for free we were paying for the services. BE POLITE AND CALM DOWN A BIT BECAUSE NOBODY LIKES TO BE AT DOCTORS IF IT NIT NECESSARY. IF THESE RECEPTIONISTS CAN NOT REDUCE THE PAIN THEN PLEASE DO NOT MAKE IT WORST. IF YOU GUYS DO NOT LIKE TO BE THERE THEN CHANG3 YOUR PROFESSION.

Worst service ever they made me wait with my 7yr old child for 6+ hrs but I was advised that the wait was only for max of 2 hrs come on get your guys statement right as its really hard for the kids to wait for that long and the doctors take their whole time in the world and just make there hrs only. Have some work ethic.

Worst service ever. I came recently to see a doctor she said she booked my appointment I waited for 3 weeks and then I went to see another doctor then he told me there was no appointment made by doctor oruba….. receptionist service are worst .. receptionist don’t have any manners to talk to patients they always so rude.. my request to new zealand medical department is that please if this hospital comes under new zealand health department please make sure they do good service or else next time I will complain to media and health department as I think health department should not be knowing how otara east tamaki local doctors health centre treat the patients…. I don’t know who gave them job because whenever people goes in health field the very important thing they teach is how to treat patient and patient should be there first priority Please please New Zealand health government make sure you guys give good service as we are paying…. We are not getting treated for free so as a patient it’s my right to be treated properly… Please everyone whoever reads this make a complain to new zealand health department.

The staff are so rude, it took 5-6 hours to be seen by a doctor and when you get the chance to be seen by the doctor it will take a minute and a half. On top of that the Indians will push the islanders name down and push the Indians up to be seen early. And when you ask thy give you you the look. I just want to smash your mouths

One of the worst reception staff, non friendly and think they are running a emergency Auckland hospital and always trying to turn down patients even if they have to put up a fight to do so and they forget that they are operating clinic where every patient has right to see the doctor whether there suffering is high or low. East-tamaki management should look into this on a serious note.

How can that be when I’m seeing people came AFTER me get seen BEFORE me?? Been a patient here for over 30 years and I keep coming here because I’m a loyal customer but now, it’s ridiculous to sit there all day, tired, sick and hungry I might as well sleep here 😡😡😡 Too many girls in the front desk and not enough nurses and doctors. I had to wait 2 hours on 5th May 2022( 7 pm to 9 pm) in waiting room then called me to go and wait in Doctors room at 9 pm.After 15 minutes , no Nurse or Dr came to assess me .After 30 mins , I went out to check if any Doctor coming to review me.The nurse said politely that only 2 doctors but you will be seen next.I went back to the Doctors room .I waited for another 30 mins in that same room .No one came. Now the time is 10 pm.I went to Nurses station again enquiring about Doctor .Another Nurse was there who was Kiwi , (sorry ), I couldn't see her name as she was sitting in front of her computer. She was showing attitude and speaking rudely , when I asked her question about Dr .She said there is only 2 doctors you have to wait.I told her that I waited out for 2 hours in waiting room and 1 hour in Doctors room.Atleast inform us if there is further delay. No Nurse came to me from 7 pm to 10 pm to assess me.Finally Dr came at 10.30pm.The time that Doctors take to check us is 5 to 10 mins maximum, then why so much delay.I could also observe that the people who came after me was seen before me.Now a days its very frustrating to go to GP and the waiting time and on top of that the attitude of some Nurses. Please do the needful to make your clients life easier.

A BIG TIP FROM A LOCAL REGULAR USER & ALWAYS WORKS LAST 20 YEARS: LONG WAITS ARE NZ DOCTOR SHORTAGE. SO TO BE SEEN BY THE DOCTOR FIRST, EARLY YOU MUST LINE UP OUTSIDE AT 7AM FOR THE DOORS TO OPEN AT 8AM. BRING YOUR OWN PLASTIC CHAIR & A LINE FORMS AT 7AM ONWARDS. THE FIRST 4 CUSTOMERS ARE NORMALLY SEEN WITHIN THE FIRST HOUR. DONT COME AFTER THIS TIME, WAIT FOR NEXT DAY 7AM TO LINE UP & SEE THE DOCTOR. ALL THE BEST FROM SEU SMITH FAMILY.

Told me to wait for 1hour 30 mints. It took them 3 hours.. still nothing…. Once i spoke to the receptionist. That lady told me there is 9 more patients in front of me and there is 4 Doctors. After one more hour … still nothing they asked … have i seen the nurse, like seriously, they are disgusting, Worst Service. More than 4 hours of waiting, people might die, waiting for a doctor. I could give the negative ratings… will never bisit this place.

I went to see Dr's as I had ear infection, it took me more than 5hrs to see the Dr. Explained the receptionist that I have 2 kids at home who are waiting for me. Then one of the receptionist who was not on duty came with her family member and went before all. How unfair is it??? Never recommending this place to come. Hospital is much better atleast it's not that long waiting 🙄

Worst in Otara, South Auckland, waited a 11am until an idian nurse came to see my son at 1.50pm she look like she doesn't like her job, just did my sons height and weight then told us to wait again another 3hrs just for 1 asthma pump. Sad thing is that you can't book an appointment.

How does this system work? Please explain because I can't wrap my head around this. Sick patients come in and wait 4+ hours to only be seen for 10-15 minutes. If that's the case then that should be an average of at least 3-4 patients every hour across a team of minimum of 3+ doctors. There's no more than 10 patients at a time in the waiting room on an average day so why are they waiting for at least half a day? The math ain't mathing. How many patients do you push down the list to make them wait these ungodly hours? People can't waste half a working day waiting 4+ hours to only be seen for 10 minutes. It's absolutely ridiculous. If there's 1 doctor on then tell patients beforehand, don't make them wait for hours its simple customer service and administration something which is severely lacking with this facility.

Very very long waiting....! On 16 th November 23... I have to weit for 5-30 hours. Doctor finish job in 5 minutes satisfactorily. This is very bad manner. Actually I want to rate - 2 star but there is no provision to rate star less than 1 star so I have to choose 1 star. Management should seriously think for this and search some solid solution of this severe problem experiencing patient.

Sharing my experience for my visit with the Local Doctors(otara) on 30 July 2023 in the afternoon to get my daughter seen by the doctor. A bit different to what I read on the reviews column. First time going there and I know all about after hours clinic can be a wait preferred to come here then go to Local Hospital and wait for 5-6hours to be seen by the doctor. The receptionist was lovely, she explained that the wait would be about 3 hours to see the doctor and 1 hour to see the Nurse I was okay with that. While waiting was happy there was a nice kids movie on the TV for my daughter to watch which she enjoyed and helped her tolerate her pain while waiting, with in an hour she was checked by the nurse Vitals all checked height and weight done and all good then we waited another 2 hours for the doctors to see my daughter. So the doctor examined my daughters issue and straight away told us what was the best way to help my daughter and so he did and resolved her issues and straight away prescribed some medications to help her when she goes home. He was a very professional male doctor who was very good in handling a procedure for my daughter. So time limit as expected and doctor was great and quick with solutions. This is much bigger and cleaner after hours care then other clinics I have been to. Wouldn’t mind coming back if I needed after hours care. Thanks a lot.

Normal wait time is 4hours which is in itself still bad. I visited yesterday and was told 4+ hour wait. If they had told me I would be there 7 hours I wouldn’t have even bothered. But I had already paid the fee so I had no choice but to wait. Doc are always packed, no matter which day of the week you go, it’s just sad.
