Beautiful So many beautiful trees, beautiful birds and walking tracks It's great for the kids, if you want alone time in nature or if you want some exercise. Honestly it's so beautiful I could spend all day here. Heaps of parking at many different car parks

Great spot to see water birds, and to have a picnic. Toilets available, and little walks around the sanctuary are gorgeous.

This is such a lovely place for many different reasons: nature, birds, strolling, picnicking, photography, dog walking, relaxing, even just parking. There are several picnic tables and lotsa grassed areas. No barbecues that I can think of. The river is nearby though the banks do not afford access but you can get close for a looksee. Be mindful of the joggers and cyclists as the river path passes by. Over all very tranquil. A family story says that my grandfather, who worked for the council, was part of the build crew; it was built in the early 1960s. Sadly, I do not recall asking him about this. Ample parking. Lotsa bins. Public toilets.

One of my favourite places to walk around, explore, have a picnic,..or just escape from everything for a while. Always neat, clean, and the birds which live there are amazing. There's always Pelicans or ducks to see, and the serenity of the Barwon River tops it all. You have to visit here at least once.

The perfect spot for a picnic which is exactly what we did on this beautiful sunny spring day. There is so many different types of birdlife here you can see as you soak in the views of Balyang Sanctuary. You also have the barwon river on the other side of the road where people can walk, ride around or even canoe in the river with the convenient Canoe crossing. There are also historic buildings as well as undercover picnic tables and restrooms facilities. A great place to take the family.

Beautiful space and a great place to walk or run. Saturday mornings between 8&9am is Parkrun though so be aware you'll be sharing with often hundreds of runners and walkers.

Came here for play group and it’s stunning!! My two babies absolutely loved the nature walk and ducks/birds. The trees are so incredibly special, old and beautiful. There is also an amazing cafe not far. Definitely a favourite spot now.

Balyang Sanctuary is a beautiful , Peaceful Bird Sanctuary with walking/running & Bike riding tracks surrounding the area (alongside the Barwon river) This local beauty, has clean, modern toilet blocks , free on site car parks & has wooden bridges that allows visitors to walk over the water, and explore around the sanctuary. Wooden Park Benches , Tables & Gazebo Areas Are On site. Signage Asks that visitors & tourists β€œDo Not Feed The Birds” So please respect the rules if you do get to visit this wonderful little outdoor space. Green Rubbish Bins are located in the car park /toilet area - so do the right thing and put rubbish where it belongs :) Soo many different types of water birds & ducks you will find around this park site , soo be sure to bring your camera. I use balyang sanctuary as a space for clearing the mind & relaxing by embracing the scenery. Area attracts Elderly , Families , tourists , Active Persons (Who Walk/Run/Ride along the riverside tracks) aswell as photographers. In the wet season/ wet days, this area tends to flood out (I have put up a picture of what it looks like once the rainy weather hits - quite fascinating when you’re not used to seeing the beautiful , green grass area 3/4 under water)

Just beautiful in autumn. One of Geelong's best nature assets. Now boasts a wonderful locally-made swing hanging from the Old Arching Oak (photo).
