There's no justification for having full-grown wild animals living in a miserable concrete jail the size of a child's bedroom. Take the example of Disney and use a little creativity to make the ride more entertaining with props instead of repulsive abuse. I'm just guessing that they use the animals as some kind of tax exemption for the park as being zoological. That's the only thing that makes sense of why they're doing this.

Pretty much every other part of lagoon is great but this part of the park and the ride are horrible. The line is always so long for some reason and the ride is very boring. Not only that but I have no clue how lagoon has not gotten in legal trouble for what is clearly animal cruelty. I wish they would just send these animals to the zoo where they would get such better care! The cages are so small and it is very sad to see how small the cages that they keep the animals in are. All of the animals look depressed and malnourished on this ride. I hate this ride so much. Why is it still open?

I have visited several zoos around the country, this was shocking. I would strongly suggest that they transfer these animals to zoos that can properly care for them. And improve their quality of life. The cages are too small, the animals look unhealthy and very unhappy and lethargic. I was with my nephew and nieces, teenagers. They immediately noticed the very poor condition of the animals and their surroundings. It was very sad and not enjoyable. I hope there is an organization in Utah that can look into the general health and welfare of this attraction and close it down.

The zoo is literally so depressing. There was a lion on its back in a complete cement cage and the cage was smaller than my kitchen. I could not believe that that is legal. Every animal in there looks depressed. I’m not really an animal activist but this is so sad.

if you go to lagoon DO NOT ride the train where they show you all the animals. it will make all the animal lovers super mad & sad. it’s not okay how they care for those animals, if they even care for them at all. none of them had food or water. all the animals looked depressed or worn out. none of the animals were standing or walking around all of them were just sitting there looking miserable. this is so sad. how is this okay? how is this still a thing? the saddest part is that the camels humps were touching the floor meaning they are DEHYDRATED!!!! PLEASE CLOSE DOWN THAT PART OF LAGOON & LET THOSE ANIMALS FREE INTO THE WILD WHERE THEY BELONG!!!!!!!!!

The two people who gave this five stars should be ashamed. The entire train was repulsed by these beautiful creatures being locked up with concrete flooring.. no enrichment nothing. Lagoon would save so much money if they would just let a reputable sanctuary take these animals. So why don’t they? No one comes to Lagoon for this. In fact it probably keeps a lot of people away.

Our entire family was shocked and we left the park after that. Seeing the small cement enclosures full of feces is very cringy. Apparently this "zoo" is passing inspection? Maybe it's time to review our standards as human being. Why would you keep such a sad place open? Please close this attraction and relocate the animals to more adequate zoo where they have room to breathe.

I hate that I have to give them even one star. The fact they haven't faced criminal charges for the conditions they keep their animals in is astonishing. There has been zero effort to improve their enclosures, even as a 5 year old in the 90's I was horrified and confused by the deplorable cement prisons. The train ride left me in tears because of how miserable the animals looked. I remember asking my mom if they had forgotten the animals were there, and I even tried "reminding" any employees I saw that their animals needed water. They didn't care. Summers in Utah easily reach 100+° weather, and it's dry heat. They just replace the animals that die, like a parent replacing their kid's dead goldfish over and over instead of figuring out WHY the fish keep dying and fixing the problem. It's callous. This pathetic excuse of a zoo is nothing more than severe, blatant animal cruelty. These poor animals deserve to go to a sanctuary that will actually take care of them. And yet, nothing has changed, despite the polite google reviews. (shocking, I know) The abuse and neglect continues to this day, and frankly, it's because people still go to the park. They don't have a reason to make any changes, because people are still paying them to keep it going. People pay to ride the train to stare at the emaciated, dying animals, and then politely complain amongst themselves, at least until their next visit where they do it AGAIN. I bet if Lagoon actually saw a noticable drop in attendance over this they'd finally have a reason to listen. Until then, the cruelty will continue. They pretty much said so themselves. They're evil, disgusting people. I'd say they should be ashamed, but I honestly doubt they have the ability to feel anything but insatiable greed.

If I could do negative stars, I would. Just awful! Sad, tiny, dark, depressing enclosures barely big enough for most of the animals to turn around in. No greenery, just concrete and fake grass. Why USDA allows this hovel to exist is unacceptable. The animals appear depressed and lethargic. Most exhibits had only dirty water.

I cannot even go to lagoon anymore because of this “zoo” I cannot support a place that has many dear memories to me because of the treatment of these animals. Lagoon, what are you gaining by keeping these animals in misery?! It’s so disgusting and terrible. Please do better.

So sad 😦 Never knew this existed. I love lagoon. But knowing they have those amazing animals just out in cages like this is heartbreaking.

The conditions of these animals are terrible… it’s really sad. They are kept in gated enclosures with no greenery or anything around them to make it seem like their habitats in the wild. As a matter of fact, the greenery in the middle of the enclosures is also fenced in? This needs to be shut down immediately…

If you have any heart at all please shut down this cruel ride. These animals deserve better. They are living things, they should not be seen as just a spectacle. These poor animals deserve so much better.

Been going to lagoon for over a century and they need to shut down there so called “zoo”. Lagoon is an amazing park but the zoo part is honestly just depressing. Put the animals somewhere else. Other wise, love the amusement park(:

The living conditions of these animals is horrifying! concrete cages are NOT a zoo. Lagoon needs to get rid of this. I was so sick and angry seeing this on the train ride and when I looked around nobody was smiling. Kids weren’t even excited to see the tigers because it was so sad.

Torture of animals and their mental health. Close your zoo ride and give these poor souls to someone who will take care of them.

This ride instantly ruins everything fun about the park. If you care even slightly about animals you will refuse this ride. So sad to see beautiful creatures kept in small cages. Such a disappointment. They need to give these animals to sanctuaries and change this ride.

The train is fun, but seeing the animals ruins the ride. They don't look healthy or happy 💔 I would ride the train without seeing any animals. Let the animals be happy elsewhere.

The family who owns Lagoon should be ashamed of themselves!! I am sickened. My family is enjoying Lagoon from out of state, then to find out they get a tax break for allowing these beautiful, wild animals to be tortured in small cells is extremely upsetting😡!! Eight hours away in Keensburg, Colorado is The Wild Animal Sanctuary. They rehabilitate and care for animals rescued from similar, horrific conditions and give them open space to live and finally be themselves. Watch the documentary Lion Ark. It's eye opening💔😭. Lagoon Family- do the right thing and give your animals to sanctuaries where they can live the rest of their lives in peace.

I’d give it zero stars if I could. It’s not a zoo, it’s a couple of sad cages and enclosures with a handful of animals that need to be sent to an actual zoo where they can be taken care of properly. The responsible and respectful thing would be for Lagoon to shut it down and find new homes for the animals.

Wild Kingdom Train Zoo's facilities were poorly maintained. I noticed broken fences, dirty pathways, and unkempt landscaping, which detracted from the overall experience.

Tigers and lions some who have been raised from cubs probably never touching grass . The elk that was killed on the recklessness of lagoon . And lagoon officials always claim they’re doing these animals right . I understand lagoon took in some animals from bad situations, but just because you provide them with food and health care doesn’t mean the neglect form living in a concrete cell with no enrichment isn’t hurting the animals especially for the cats . Do better lagoon you spend millions on knew rides every 5-10 years, adding a place for alcohol , but can’t spend money to make better enclosures . This is coming from an employee from 2012-2016 . Multiple citations countless protests sanctuaries saying theyed take animals in but lagoon continues to keep all there depressed animals on display . Lagoon continues to show they care more about money than the animals .

They only keep the animals there for the tax break and it definitely shows

Uhhh..... I meeaaan..... Maybe they are ok with it???? They are still living no? We can't speak with them. Yeah no its not that ideal. HOWEVER this does not bog down the entire park. For the most part I am simple and short with my reviews, and a very positive person but, this is quite a problem. Also I know NOTHING about the necessities for the animals. they FOR THE MOST PART. WHEN I VISITED looked healthy. (Reason why I gave it a 3 star. not a two or one)

These POOR neglected animals. They live in heartbreaking conditions. We haven’t been to Lagoon for 6 years and honestly don’t think we’ll come back. I’d much rather drive a little further and take a trip to Wahoo’s in Boise instead of come to Lagoon until they release these animals.

  • 1/5 Sandy W. 8 months ago on Google
Lagoon would be 5 stars if they would find a sanctuary for these poor animals. Are they being fed, yes! But! What a horrible life to live in a cage and used for a side show cruelty act! You are no better than then the road side zoos! I bet Wild Life Sanctuary in Colorado would take them. At least they would have a good life!

Please get rid of this zoo! It's really sad that the animals live in concrete enclosures. Passing the minimum USDA regulations is not enough to justify a tax break for your business.

I echo what previous reviews have said. They treat the animals like filth in such deplorable conditions. Absolutely disgusting.

  • 1/5 Gabby P. 2 years ago on Google
Cruel and gross. The owners have way too much pride to send these beautiful animals to a sanctuary, but it is absolutely the right thing to do.

  • 1/5 Alexis F. 2 years ago on Google
Really terrible. I don't know why they feel the need to have it around. No one goes there for the animals. I had been there a few times and didn't even know there was a zoo. It seems like a pride issue at this point. Shut it down.

I hate to give even 1 star. I don’t know how they haven’t gotten shut down yet. I’ve grown up going to lagoon and every time I see the zoo it makes me want to cry. These animals are neglected and do not have access to the professional care they need. Not to mention the lack of space they need to thrive and be happy. The animals are pacing their cages and anxious. Lagoon itself is great. The zoo is awful. I’m disgusted with lagoon and their lack of caring for our wildlife. Lagoon is an AMUSEMENT PARK, NOT A ZOO. If you have at least some compassion for wildlife, DO NOT SUPPORT THE LAGOON ZOO.

I have been on this ride. The animals spend their days sleeping and laying around as a result of severe depression. They are placed in concrete prison in the most confined spaces that do not meet the BARE minimum standards for a zoo, as stated by the AZA. The animals have just enough space to stand up and turn around— nothing else. Children roar, scream, and thrown things at the animals in attempt to get them to wake up. Employees have abused these animals, as if they even deserve more punishment. Lagoon claims that the animals are “rescued”, but I can guarantee they would have been better off where they were. This is sickening. I am an Utah native, and I educate everyone I know about this ride. Fortunately the information is so shocking and vile that it deters many people from going to Lagoon at all. Nobody should be supporting this sad excuse for a “zoo”. If an employee tells you the animals are well cared for, they are lying to you. Please do your research.

It’s so depressing to see these animals in small cages that look malnourished and starved. I was really upset because lagoon should be an amusement park not a zoo. Please send those animals to sanctuaries.
