Went
in
to
activate
a
PO
Box
since
the
Shirley
Chisholm
office
keeps
losing
my
mail
for
weeks
at
a
time.
It
was
around
noon
on
a
weekday,
so
I
expected
a
line.
What
I
did
not
expect
was
ONE
employee
working
the
entire
location.
My
heart
went
out
to
her--
at
least
until
she
abandoned
her
post,
hung
a
handmade
"CLOSED"
sign
on
the
door,
then
locked
up
the
building.
That's
right.
She
closed
and
locked
up
the
building
while
people
were
still
actively
using
the
location
and
waiting
in
line,
hours
before
closing
time.
She
announced
that
she'd
be
unlocking
the
door
"every
five
customers"
to
let
us
out,
which
does
not
exactly
seem
up
to
fire
code.
Meanwhile,
confused
would-be
patrons
with
letters
and
parcels
in
their
arms
began
pounding
on
the
doors
and
windows
like
something
out
of
a
zombie
movie.
Needless
to
say,
I
abandoned
the
line
and
escaped
as
soon
as
I
could.
I
don't
write
a
lot
of
reviews,
and
I
don't
like
kicking
anyone
while
they're
down.
I
know
the
pandemic
has
been
rough
for
the
USPS,
but
there's
no
excuse
for
this.
The
entire
Bedstuy/Ocean
HIll
area
has
been
completely
neglected
for
YEARS
now.
An
occasional
mistake
is
understandable
and
unavoidable.
But
I've
personally
had
innumerable
mail
pieces
go
missing,
and
so
have
many
of
my
neighbors.
Any
and
all
issues
have
been
met
with
utter
ambivalence
and
even
aggression
from
the
staff
USPS
somehow
manages
to
keep.
I'd
say
"take
your
business
elsewhere,"
but
the
Shirley
Chisholm
office
on
Fulton
is
just
as
bad,
if
not
worse.
Official
complaints
and
cases
filed
online
or
over
the
phone
are
ignored
or
closed
without
any
explanation.
It's
just
hard
to
believe
a
basic
service
like
THE
MAIL
could
be
so
outrageously
inefficient
in
the
heart
of
a
major
city.
Anyway,
if
you
ever
have
to
go
here,
reward
yourself
with
some
Taco
Bell
up
the
street
when
you're
done.
