One of the great and huge historic monument. It would be better if you take a guide because there are many historical buildings inside this fort, which he will be able to explain better. At least you need 2 hours to visit this fort. Morning time is the best for visit here. If you are a bird lover you will get to see so many parrots. Entry charges : 35/-

Awesome place to visit with family. Ancient Indian architecture at its peak. Too much history comes to life if you have a wonderful guide with you. A must see place if you are obsessed with Mogul history. Restrooms and water dispensers may not be available inside, so please go prepared accordingly.

No need to describe this place for anyone. The sheer massiveness of this place and the story attached with it is enough to make you visit this place. It's a wonder how people with no modern technology built such huge forts and it's still standing. The fort is open everyday. You can visit the fort at any time. The fort opens at 6 in the morning. You can buy an online ticket before hand if you like. But this place doesn't get that crowded so you can choose to opt for buying tickets at the counter also. It's rs 50 per person for Indians. If you want to know about the place in detail you can opt for guides. But bargain with them as the rates can be very steep at times. Being there makes you think about the historic events that have happened there.

I had a not great experience caused we were late at Agra fort. Fort was well planned for tourist. Neat clean and with good facilities. We got a guide who really explained us in details about the history of the fort. At the same time he helped us to click good photos at the main points of the fort. Really had a very good experience. Majestic! Most popular attraction inside are the squirrels. Security do not allow food inside but you can secretly smuggle 2-3 peanuts and feed them, they just come running to you if you have food for them. Very cute, children will love it! hat an amazing place, the fort, lawns, architecture, stone carved artwork on pillars and gates, everything is pure delight. If are a history buff (who loves to know about history and culture this place transcends you into a different era) this place is an absolute treat. All you have to do is to feel it.

A wonderful World Heritage Site. Worth every penny of the entrance fee. I didn’t bother with a guide and enjoyed my visit but it might be worth hiring one if you can face haggling (IRP 300 seems to be a fair price). There are many palaces one after the other with some incredible views of the Taj Mahal.

The place is good. An old heritage. This should be preferable to visit in the mornings. Crowd is good. Won't bother you in any way. We had fun. It was easy viewing every part. We took a lot of pictures. Mask was compulsory though. They took good care for our safety. It was hot obviously.

The red fort of Agra is just amazing as it was shown in movies. The story of Red fort will just kept you bound. The beauty of this monument is mesmerizing. The fort is so big, it is divided in to multiple sections according to the kings name. Every little corner is actually designed so calculatively. If you see a single pillar, then also you will feel the art and work they have done over here. If you are visiting it, then you should go for guide also. They will tell you the details of every single corner. It was an amazing experience.

A historical fort having incredible architecture and ambience. A vast area of fort is with Indian Defence. Better to visit the fort with a Guide who can explain the historical aspects of the fort. The entrance, ambience, Courtyards and other structures are really grand. The red stone and marbles used for construction of the fort, give a royal feeling.

The Agra Fort is one of the biggest forts in India. While the exterior is impressive, there isn't much to see inside. However, the walls and rooms are in good condition and well maintained. If you're interested in learning about the rich history of this place, you can hire a guide available at the entry gate. Tickets can also be purchased online for your convenience. Exploring the fort with a knowledgeable guide will enhance your experience and appreciation of its historical significance.

Ticket is available online. Best to book a guide to see this massive 94 acre monument. They can give deep insight into history and culture. Can be better maintained in terms of parking availability and cleanliness. Parking is opposite the fort and is quite shabbily kept. Enter the fort and roam around for a good hour or two, 5.30pm the guards start rushing tour guides outside due to closing time. Rich Indian heritage can be witnessed.

Most admirable place, history lovers must visit and experience the architecture and scientifically design structure. Take a tour guide along with you to explore even more. Remember one thing about guide they cote more price than the actual price. So negotiate freely much as you can. Happy tour ? Nice fort, with garden You have to walk more, to see the whole fort. you can see the place where public met their king. had a great experience at Agra fort. It was well planned for tourists. Neat and clean and with good facilities. Really I have a best experience here. Most of the attraction inside the fort are the squirrels. Security do not allow food inside.

This fort is so well maintained. I absolutely love it and definitely looking forward to visit again. Tip :- If you're planning to look around and stay here for a while, please bring some nuts. There are tons of cute squirrels out there and they love being fed by the tourists. The lawns around the fort and so clean and trimmed. I would like to thank the people who are in charge of fort maintenance.

Agra fort is spread over an area of about 94 acres and over 20 protected monuments are situated inside its premises. British troops were stationed there and the Indian Army took over after independence. Agra Fort was declared a World Heritage Site in 1983 by UNESCO. Travelling through India and going back to her history is the one of the best achievements in life. The architecture is amazing like the other famous structures we have here in India, but I have came to know that only 30% of this fort is open to public, rest is closed and under the control of Indian Army.

The architecture of the fort reflects the 3 major dynasties. This fort is well known for pride, power and resilience since ancient time. This fort resembles the lavish life of Mughals. The fort is constructed with the elite elements like Belgian glass and premium sandstone etc. This is an important example that Hinduism and Islam flourished side by side during the ancient times. This Islamic structure has many Hindu temples. Due to its literacy elements and beauty, many scholars from Central part of Asia and the Middle East are eager to visit this place.

If you like walking in historical buildings or place then this is the best place for you. Very heavy work has been done on it and very beautiful flowers and leaves have been made on its walls. Because the fort of Agra is very big, so during its journey you may get very tired but you will also have a lot of fun.

Agra Fort is a historical fort in the city of Agra in India. It was the main residence of the emperors of the Mughal Dynasty until 1638, when the capital was shifted from Agra to Delhi. Before capture by the British, the last Indian rulers to have occupied it were the Marathas. In 1983, the Agra fort was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is about 2.5 km northwest of its more famous sister monument, the Taj Mahal. The fort can be more accurately described as a walled city.

Built as a military structure in 1565 by Emperor Akbar with later additions by Shah Jahan, the stunning Agra Fort (also known as Agra's Red Fort) is an interesting mix of both Hindu and Muslim influences. Located a little more than two kilometers from the Taj Mahal, the fort is entered through Amar Singh Gate with its low outer wall and dogleg design built to confuse attackers. Once inside, you'll see two large interlinked sandstone buildings, Akbari Mahal and Jahangiri Mahal, the largest private residence in the complex. Other highlights include the Khas Mahal (Private Palace), with its splendid copper roof, and the Anguri Bagh (Grape Garden), a jigsaw-patterned Mughal garden with numerous wonderful fountains and water channels as well as screens that once offered a private area for the emperor and his entourage. Also of note is the octagonal Musamman Burj tower, which later served as Shah Jahan's prison until his death.

One of the best fort in India. Though only 30% of its space is open for visitors, it is enough. The architect is so beautiful and scientific also as per the requirements of that era. The precision engineering was very much during that time to incorporate the subtle subtle works. Beautiful place to visit for around 1-2 hours.

Well worth a visit.we worth visiting. Very large impressive fort along the same lines as the red fort. It's a long walk up a fairly steep slope to get in. You can only visit 25 percent of this impressive structure as the rest is in use by the military. But that's more than enough after a long day of visits. It's a must if your exploring the history of the monuments.

    (Translated by Google) Seeing the beauty of Agra Fort, UNESCO has included it in the list of World Heritage. This fort is located just 2.5 km from the Taj Mahal, so tourists who come here can also visit the Taj Mahal to visit it. What is special in this fort built by Mughal emperor Akbar, you will know about it The fort of Agra is also special because the Mughals like Babur, Humayun, Akbar, Jahangir, Shahjahan and Aurangzeb ruled here. The treasury of the state was also kept here. Sikandar Lodi was the first Sultan of Delhi who repaired it during his visit to Agra and made it his capital until 1506 AD. After his death in 1517, his son Ibrahim Lodi ruled for 9 years. During which he built many places, mosques and wells. The Mughals ruled here after Panipat. His treasure also included the Kohinoor diamond. Humayun was crowned in this fort in 1530. Where he lost to Sheh Shah Suri in a battle after which he captured the fort. Akbar made it his capital in 1558 and for the entire 8 years, nearly 4000 artisans built this fort together. In 1573 it was completed and ready.

An amazing fort with much history. To begin with, the slanting entrance to cause hindrance to possible attackers, the two rounds of moats surrounding the fort of which one housed crocodiles and the other had tigers for its protection are defence mechanisms that worked. A lot of other interesting spots to be seen here. I enjoyed my tour of Agra fort immensely.

It's very big in area. I was almost lost in here because there are gates almost everywhere connecting each and every palace. You'll get the beautiful view of Taj Mahal from here. A lot monuments in here and a lot to learn. Beautiful garden and breathtaking monuments and architecture will amaze you. Ticket prices are okay. Must visit place. Take a tourist guide in here because there are a lot of things to explain because if you don't take, you will not have any knowledge of what the monuments are. Try to bargain with the tourist guides. For us they asked 400. Try to bargain 200. They'll take it.

Otherwise you can not enjoy fully without knowing the history. Huge fort. Guides are very good. It takes around one hour or so. Try to cover the place slowly. You must visit this place.

    (Translated by Google) Agra Fort is a UNESCO-declared World Heritage Site. This fort is located in the city of Agra in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. About 2.5 kilometers north-west of it, the world famous monument Taj Mahal exists. Some historians consider this fort to be better known as Prasad Mahal city surrounded by boundary walls. Gurjar Shivam Singh It is the most important fort in India. The Mughal emperors of India, Babur, Humayun, Akbar, Jahangir, Shahjahan and Aurangzeb lived here, and ruled the entire India from here. Here was the state's highest treasury, property and mint. Foreign ambassadors, travelers and high-ranking people used to come here, who created the history of India. It was originally a brick fort, which belonged to the Rajputs of Sikarwar dynasty. Its first description comes in 1080 AD, when Mahmud Ghaznavi's army captured it. Sikandar Lodhi (1487-1517), was the first Sultan of Delhi Sultanate who traveled to Agra and he got this fort repaired in 1507 AD and lived in this fort. Sikandar Lodi made it the capital in 1507 AD and ruled the country from here. He also died in this fort in 1517. His son Ibrahim Lodi later held the throne for nine years, until he was killed in the First War of Panipat (1526). He built many places, mosques and wells here during his period. Gurjar Shivam Singh After Panipat, the Mughals also captured this fort as well as its immense wealth. There was also a diamond in this property which later became famous as Kohinoor diamond. Then Babur came to Ibrahim's place in this fort. He built a baoli here. Humayun was also crowned here in the year 1530. Humayun lost to Sher Shah Suri in Bilgram this year and the fort was captured. The fort was occupied by the Afghans, who were eventually defeated by the Mughals in 1556 in the Second War of Panipat. Seeing the central position of this, Akbar decided to make it his capital and came here in 1558. Its historian Abul Fazl has written that this fort was a brick fort, named Badalgarh. It was then in a crumbling condition and Akbar had to get it rebuilt, which he built with red sandstone. It was laid by the big architects. It was built from inside with bricks, and a red sandstone for the outer covering. Fourteen lakh forty four thousand artisans and laborers worked for eight years in its construction, then it was completed in 1573. Akbar's grandson Shah Jahan transported the site in its present form. It is also a myth that when Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal for his beloved wife, he was trying to build buildings of white marble, in which gold and precious gems were studded. At the time of the construction of the fort, he also dismantled many old buildings and buildings, so that the fort would have its buildings built. In the last days of his life, Shah Jahan was imprisoned in this fort by his son Aurangzeb, a punishment which was not as severe as the luxury of the palaces of the fort. It is also said that Shah Jahan died while watching the Taj Mahal in the fort's Musaman Burj. The junction of this tower has a very beautiful view of the Taj Mahal. This fort became a war site during the first Indian independence struggle of 1857. After which the British East India Company's kingdom from India ended, and Britain ruled directly for almost a century. After which, there was direct independence. The inner structure and site of Agra Fort - (Shivam Gurjar) - Angoori Bagh - 75 square meter, geometrically managed garden In the Diwan-i-Aam - the Peacock Throne or Placard Taus was installed, it was used to talk to the general public and listen to their farad. Diwan-i-Khas - was used for the seminar and consultation of its high officials, the black throne of Jahangir was its specialty. Golden Pavilion - Beautiful Pavilion with Bengali hut shaped roofs Jahangiri Mahal - Built by Akbar for his son Jahangir Khas Mahal - Built in white marble, this palace is an excellent example of marble painting.

This is more of a royal city than a fort and the visitor can explore a large variety of courtyards, Archidesign, grand royal pavilions, amazing gateways, incredible fort ramparts and walls, and a lovely watch tower over-looking the Taj Mahal. This is the place where Aurangzeb imprisoned his father, Shah Jahan, who created the Taj Mahal. Most people visit Agra for the Taj, but the Red Fort shouldn't be missed. The 16th century fort has some stunning architecture and beautiful ornaments and decorations. You can do Taj in the early morning, go back to your hotel for breakfast, and visit the fort after that. That'll leave you plenty of time to go back to Delhi or where ever you're going next.

This place is huge! The entrance fee was 550 rupees and I stopped here in the morning and spent an hour and a half here. I'm not sure that you could see it much faster but you could also spend all day here. It is fairly wide open so I'd bring some sunscreen. The views of the Taj are more spectacular than my cell phone captured, the haze washed things out a bit. Definitely worth a visit!

This is a massive fort made by Akbar in 1565 AD and it stands out for its fabulous design and incredible construction. A magnificent piece of strategic design, only the Amar Singh Gate could be used to enter the fort out of the two gates. This fort is included in the top 10 historical places in India and is also mentioned in one of the cases of Sherlock Holmes written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle called “The Sign Of Four”.

Agra Fort is a historical fort in the city of Agra in India. It was the main residence of the emperors of the Mughal Dynasty till 1638, when the capital was shifted from Agra to Delhi. The Agra fort is a UNESCO World Heritage site.It is about 2.5 km northwest of its more famous sister monument, the Taj Mahal. The fort can be more accurately described as a walled city. After the First Battle of Panipat in 1526, the victorious Babur stayed in the fort, in the palace of Ibrahim Lodi. He later built a baoli in it. His successor, Humayun, was crowned in the fort in 1530. He was defeated at Bilgram in 1540 by Sher Shah Suri. The fort remained with the Suris till 1555, when Humayun recaptured it. Adil Shah Suri’s general, Hemu, recaptured Agra in 1556 and pursued its fleeing governor to Delhi where he met the Mughals in the Battle of Tughlaqabad. Sheesh Mahal, Agra Fort:The effect produced by lighting candles in Sheesh Mahal, Agra Fort. Realising the importance of its central situation, Akbar made it his capital and arrived in Agra in 1558. His historian, Abul Fazl, recorded that this was a brick fort known as ‘Badalgarh’. It was in a ruined condition and Akbar had it rebuilt with red sandstone from Barauli area Dhaulpur district, in Rajasthan. Architects laid the foundation and it was built with bricks in the inner core with sandstone on external surfaces. Some 4,000 builders worked on it daily for eight years, completing it in 1573. It was only during the reign of Akbar’s grandson, Shah Jahan, that the site took on its current state. Shah Jahan built the beautiful Taj Mahal in the memory of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Unlike his grandfather, Shah Jahan tended to have buildings made from white marble. He destroyed some of the earlier buildings inside the fort to make his own. At the end of his life, Shah Jahan was deposed and restrained by his son, Aurangzeb, in the fort. It is rumoured that Shah Jahan died in Muasamman Burj, a tower with a marble balcony with a view of the Taj Mahal. The fort was invaded and captured by the Maratha Empire in the early 18th century. Thereafter, it changed hands between the Marathas and their foes many times. After their catastrophic defeat at Third Battle of Panipat by Ahmad Shah Abdali in 1761, Marathas remained out of the region for the next decade. Finally Mahadji Shinde took the fort in 1785. It was lost by the Marathas to the British during the Second Anglo-Maratha War, in 1803. The fort was the site of a battle during the Indian rebellion of 1857, which caused the end of the British East India Company’s rule in India, and led to a century of direct rule of India by Britain.

What a beautifully built piece of mughal art this is. A very important place of in whole of agra from which mughal used to rule whole india before making delhi their capital. This place is still well maintained and is nice place to visit with family and friends. I feel government could start initiatives to promote this pace too just like taj mahal because there is potential in this place to become a better tourist spot then fatehpur sikri. I'm gonna share some photos so it could help somebody to decide if they want to visit it or not. Although I recommend everybody to visit it atleast once in their lifetime if possible.

Great Piece of history!! The only thing that troubles me is that they have sealed 75% of the area for the use of army, That's kind of bad for the heritage, also three most beautiful regions are sealed from public since 2003. The place is good, does not have too much rush too. You can enjoy breathtaking views, but it would've been more fantastic if they had more areas opened to the public, anyways, the ticket price is ₹45 effectively for Indian tourists, so it's great for a one time visit.

A beautiful place to visit.... Would prefer to have guide so you'll be knowing well the history/importance of the place... Take around 400 to 500 ... Atleast we were able to bargain to that point further depend on your skills..

Great place.. not seen completely..Can spend a whole day by watching the beauty of this old palace..many different chambers and all. Felt like going through an old story..consists of many palaces like sheesh mahal, akbari mahal etc.. Agra fort is 2.5km far away from taj. We can see the beauty of tajmahal in the distance from the balcony.

Historcial fort of India, located on bank of 'Yamuna river'. Richly decorated semi-circular red sandstone, fort complex with double ramparts. UNESCO World Heritage site. This fort was built in 1573 under the reign of Akbar. Humayun coronation took place at the fort in 1530. It was the main residence of the Mughal Dynasty until 1638, when the capital was shifted from Agra to Delhi. Abul Fazal recorded that about 500 buildings built in this fort. The fort houses numerous impressive structures like the Jahangir Mahal, Khas Mahal, Diwan-i-Khass, Diwan-i-Am, Machchhi Bhawan and Moti Masjid. As well as Ratan Singh Haveli, Bengali Mahal, Akbari Mahal, Jahangir's Hauz (Bath Tub), Shahjahani Mahal, Babur’s Baoli (step well), Nagina Masjid etc. Two of the fort's gates are notable : the "Delhi Gate" and the "Lahore/Akbar/Amar Singh Gate". And other gates-Khizri Gate, Hathi Pol (Elephant Gate), Ghaznin Gate. It was under the reign of various rulers like Mughal, Sur, Hemu Vikramaditya, Mahadji Shinde (Maratha Empire), Jat, Durrani and British. Chhatrapati Shivaji came to Agra in 1666 and to meet Aurangzeb in the Diwan-i-Khas. Indian military is still use the northern portion of this fort. World famous, UNESCO World Heritage Site "Taj Mahal" is near this fort. Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal in the memory of his favourite wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Mumtaz Mahal and Shah Jahan tomb here. As well as Tomb of Kandahari/Qandahari/Kandhari Begum (first wife of Shah Jahan), Mankameshwar Mandir, Tomb of Noor Jahan, Jama Masjid (One of the largest mosques in India) etc. places near this fort are worth visiting.

I visited the Red Fort in the morning after a train trip from New Delhi. It is a special place to visit so take your time. Hint: Make sure you have a guide, suitable footwear and clothing, camera with video options, take your time to enjoy it. Taj Mahal is opposite Red Fort.

Agra Fort was a walled city and the main residence of Mughal emperors until 1638, when the capital was moved from Agra to Delhi. Located just 2.5 km northwest of the Taj Mahal, this is where Shah Jahan spent the remainder of his days after being put under house arrest by his son. It’s rumored that he died in Muasamman Burj, a tower in Agra Fort with a view of the Taj Mahal. According to my guide, about 80% of Agra Fort is currently being used by the Indian army so visitors can only tour a small section of the fort. I didn’t take a picture of it but upon entering the fort, you’ll walk up a long ramp designed to form echoes. Clap your hands to see what I mean. This was like an alarm system to alert the guards of anyone breaching the fort. Intricate sandstone carvings adorn the walls of Agra Fort. The attention to detail in Indo-Persian architecture is astonishing. This building is known as Jahangiri Mahal. It was used mainly by the Rajput wives of Akbar the Great, the third Mughal emperor and grandfather of Shah Jahan. My guide described Akbar the Great and Shah Jahan as the most famous of the Mughal emperors.

Hii... This fort is red color because it is made of Red sandstone. It is situated very near to marvelous The Tajmahal. There is parking Infront of Red fort for every vehicles costing 100 rs for car. Outside red fort mini snacks points are there where you can have something to eat. Here two slots are provided first one is 6-12 am and other is 12-6pm so better is to come early morning and get less crowded otherwise this place is very crowded. Guides are also there to help you at very low cost ranges 100-500....Thank you...🙂

Agra fort also known as Red Fort because this is made of red, is one of the historical place in India. It well maintained and very good place to visit for family. If ever get the chance to visit agar, do visit Agra Fort. Due to lockdown, books your ticket online. Go with your proper mask and personal water bottle.

Google maps directed us incorrectly for Agra fort's entrance, still we made it through with local people's help. Well this place is vast enough and takes around full 2-3 hours to roam around. We visited this place in mid December 2020 and due to covid19, entire palce wasn't open for public. Most of the part was closed in the name of restoration by ASI. Place is beautifull without any doubts and worth watching.

The city of Agra is world famous for the Taj Mahal, built by the Mughal emperor Shahjahan in memory of his beloved wife. However, it is also famous for the Agra Fort, which is a veritable treasure trove of the Mughal architectural tradition. The various buildings within this sprawling fort complex represent the assimilation of different cultures, which was the mark of the Mughal period. Jahangiri Mahal (Jahangir's Palace), A mixed style Most of the buildings within the Agra Fort are a mixture of different architectural styles. The assimilation of these different styles has given the buildings within the fort a distinctive look. For instance, the Jahangiri Palace built by Akbar is a good blend of Islamic (Persian) and different local Hindu styles. Other buildings either have a mixed style or conform predominantly to the Islamic style.

Must visit place if you are in Agra. Easy accessible via publuc transport like auto, taxi or your own car. Car parking is available and walking distance from parking till the fort. Tickets has to be booked online, ticket counters are no more active. Eatables and Drones are not allowed.

Built in heart of the city it's the one of the biggest monument in Agra, as described by the local people. The monument is quiet a big but most of the part is closed for the civilians. Unlike other monuments men m Agra this place is less crowded. Or maybe my visit was at the perfect timing that there wasn't much crowd. Overall really liked this place compared to the other monuments. Tickets are available online. And again the entry gate is always chaotic. Things are unorganised. Ciggerate, tobacco etc are not allowed inside the monument which is good, but at the same time there is no dust bin where you can throw away if you are carrying one. Keeping a dustbin would be good as I saw that guards are throwing the trash on grounds.

A good tour can be planned for an early morning. The beauty is that the place is open for tourists from around 6 AM. So is in seclusion one can visit and spent a good morning time with History and Architect. The ASI is working hard and keeping it in proper manner and that is pretty visible... The place is pretty neat and clean. Engage a guide because there are many stories that one can get to know. Also carry atleast water along because you need to walk a lot.

The red stone used to construct this fort looks very impressive. Ir is also called Lal quila (red fort). Lovely architecture with some amazing marble work. You can buy entry tickets at gate or online at ASI website. Fort has multiple Palaces and worthy of a visit. This place has lot of history and better to hire a guide. It would take around 2 to 3 hours to complete the tour of this fort. Very well maintained and clean.

I would like to share some important details you should keep in mind before visiting Agra Fort. 1. Buy tickets online befofe reaching fort, internet speed in very poor here. 2. Visitors are allowed to carry bag, but there must not be any food item or gadgets like drone, bluetooth speaker etc 3. Water bottles or snacks are not being sold inside, so better have your meals outside. PS you are allowed to carry water bottles

Marvelous. There are lots of monuments inside. Better to take a guide. Tickets are available online. 2 barcodes have to be scanned, one to ASI and second to the State Govt of about Rs 10/-. However, don't go in the afternoon. The red stone becomes very hot. Try to go the in early morning or evening. Tickets will close at 5 pm. But you can still explore inside till 6 pm.

  • 4/5 PIYUSH P. 2 years ago on Google

  • 4/5 Vikas A. 2 years ago on Google
It's a well maintained national Heritage site which attracts many tourists. In every aspect it's a must visit place and a guide will be good to hire to understand historical facts and stories around it. Tickets are booked online but can be bought on-site add well where I've will most probably have to spend 30+ mins to stand in queue to get tickets. Good to see that digital tickets are accepted for every and there is no need to print digital tickets. This is really big fort but a large part of it is out of bound due to same being under military control. Parts that are open is in D shape and still big enough for one to spend hours inside it. They also have light and sound program after sunset but same has been stopped in line with COVID protocol to avoid big gathering.

No words to describe this place… its just amazing !! The view of Taj Mahal from here is mesmerizing.. You get to see many squirrels at this place !! U can book the tickets online and see to that u visit the fort with the buffer of minimum 3 to 4 hours. And the fort closes by 6PM.

  • 5/5 Kritika k. 2 years ago on Google
I fell in love with this place. Just when you enter it you see will how smartly the gate was built. There was a huge tunnel between the actual gate and the path which was filled with water and crocodiles. There were so many stages just to enter the fort. I hired a guide for 300rs but I felt like I knew all of these. I guess I hired a bad one. Agra fort is very big only 25% is open for tourist. Really every corner has story to tell and deep science each and every room. I'll recommend you to hire a good guide but hire it. Every wall, small windows, everything has lots of facts you will be amazed to know. And first do some home work about agra fort and then visit. It will be more helpful. Must visit. Must must visit.

The Dark Room Is Situated On when You Enter after Ticket Examine. when You Moving On Slop Way From Down To Up side .And When You Cover Half Of Slop You Just See A Hole In Your Right hand.I Said This Is The Dark Room . But Very Very Mysterious Part Is Well Is Situated In THE middle Of Park .In This Well Situated A Secret Cave In The Bottom Of The Well

One of the best fort in India. The architecture of the fort is very beautiful due to presence of red rocks. We have to walk for 40-60minutes to cover entire area inside. Security checking is there in the entrance. Carry bags are not allowed inside. Locker facility is available near to the entrance. Always preferred to go in winter or in monsoon season.

  • 4/5 Harshad V. 9 months ago on Google
Thankfully it has been well preserved. Unfortunately, there are no signs to direct movement of visitors. The information boards are very brief and lack details. It would be beneficial if historical information of each structure/building is displayed.

  • 5/5 Dini N. 9 months ago on Google
Agra Fort is one of the largest forts in India. We are only allowed to explore 20% of the area. And yet, those 20% are already big enough for us to explore, which is remarkable 🤩 And yes, it's a very nice place for a photo shoot 📸 We booked a tour guide in advance, and it was worth every penny as they told us the story and history of the Agra Forts and more. Tips: Do wear comfy shoes, t-shirts, bring small towel and mineral water. Avoid visiting in the afternoon as it will be getting hot there.

  • 4/5 Geetanav O. 9 months ago on Google

It was good. Better to visit during rainy season or in winters. Entry ticket is rupees 45 something and if you are coming by car then 100 rupees parking. Parking is near the main gate so don't worry.

Agra fort - Best place to visit. The great fort is built by Mughals during their dynasty. This is the good place where you can fulfill your dreams, come with your family members and explore the amazing historical place and see their thinking , planning and idea of this place . Once you enter to this place you can get to take beautiful pictures and you will get a peaceful view . It's exterior is so impressive . In this place hiring a guide is recommended as they will tell you the history of this place very well.

We went on a weekday in the evening and it was very crowded, it take more than 20 minutes to enter completing the ticket checking. The fort is beautiful and huge. Once you enter you get to take beautiful pics, considering it's huge, people scatter quickly and we get a peaceful view but don't expect too much of peace 😂

Visiting Agra Fort was an enriching experience, and I'd like to share some insights for fellow travelers: 1. Book Tickets Early: Ensure a smooth entry by booking tickets in advance to avoid long queues. 2. ADA Tax Collection: While the security at the entrance collects ADA tax (around 10 rupees per person), the lack of receipts raises questions about the legitimacy of this process. Clarification on the tax collection method is recommended. 3. Free Entry for Children: A positive note – children under 15 years receive free entry. 4. Historical Preparation: Dive deeper into the fort's history before your visit for a more profound appreciation of its various facets. 5. Guide Services: Consider hiring a guide for around 500 rupees, but be prepared to bargain for the best deal. 6. Essentials to Carry: Bring a water bottle, and note that food items are not allowed inside. Backpacks are permitted, but ensure they are free of food. 7. Transportation Tips: Easily reach Agra Fort from the Taj Mahal by auto or rickshaw for approximately 50 rupees. For a unique experience, opt for a cart ride using a horse. Overall, Agra Fort is a must-visit historical site with a few considerations to enhance your experience. Enjoy your journey through time!

It's beautiful. I'd suggest you to visit early in the morning, coz it gets crowded with time throughout the day. Also, you can book tickets online in order to skip the booking queue, however the entry line is still exhausting, however, the fort makes it worth the wait.

This a must see fort in Agra. The views of the Taj Mahal are spectacular. We had a guide who gave us the history and stories of the fort which really added to the experience and imagining how things were in the times it was functional. I highly recommend a guided tour or read up about the history prior to going.

Visited on 19th November Sunday the beginning of World Heritage week so entry was free. It was crowded but manageable. It's good information from the history point of view understanding the different parts of the fort. No eatables are allowed here. Also beware of monkeys.

Very beautiful fort. Must visit. I prefer taking a guide every time i visit a historical place. It gives me knowledge of why the place is designed in such way or hidden places and much more history.. I would recommend the same to others. But only take government authorized guide. General charges to guide are 450 to 500 approximately or written on board sometimes.

A must visit tourist landmark of Jaipur. You can really sense the grandeur from the moment you see it. I suggest people to visit in the morning before 11 because you can pay 1,100 rupee to ride an elephant up to the fort. The elephant only works from 8-11 in the morning, just 3 hours to prevent animal cruelty. From being up high on the elephant, you can get a spectacular view on your way up to the fort. The mirror room inside the fort is a must see.

One of the nicest forts in India, very well preserved and with great views over the river and the Taj Mahal. Early morning it was almost empty and only started filling when we were leaving so it is probably a good idea to go there first thing in the morning. It allows to buy tickets online.

An amazing monument to explore. Constructed in red stone as well as white marble. Its panoramic n huge in view, surrounded by strong high fort walls. Entry charges r nominal but proper checking is followed before entering. no outside food is allowed ,only water bottle u can carry. Very comfortable footwear is recommended as u have to walk a lot, plus a hat or mini umbrella is must on a sunny day. Most of fort area is not approachable to visitors. Still its a marvel to explore. for best experience either u can take a tour guide or u can come prepare with some pre- knowledge from net or books.

Must place to visit if you are visiting Agra. Do take a guide. We paid ₹1475 to the guide and as per him the charges had already increased to ₹1800. Charges were at the higher end but without a guide it will not be possible to understand the historical details of most of the places. However there are details mentioned in front of most of the structures. We also brought tickets online just before the visit.
