Had a fantastic stay between Christmas and new year. The rooms are comfy and definitely characterful. The fact the hotel is dog friendly is a big bonus, and we were all made very welcome. Food in the pub was great and the breakfasts had a lot of choice. My only comment would have been it would have been good to have a lighter option choice on the menu, and that is just because we had over indulged at Christmas! The village is lovely and very easy access to Bath, overall a very enjoyable stay.

This has to be one of the best pubs with rooms we have ever stayed in, and we have stayed in quite a few! Lovely bedroom - spacious, clean, lovely decor and comfy bed. An en-suite with walk in shower and all the bath goodies you need. The pub for dinner was great - super friendly service and a lovely meal of home cooked and high standard of food. The staff were so friendly and helpful. If you are in this part of the world this is where you have to stay. As a Scot I noted a previous review. Sadly in Scotland we do not have the lovely pub culture that the English have, so we just have to come south to enjoy it! Great place to stay and eat!

Spent a weekend at this ancient inn with a group of ten friends. Food is excellent and the rooms are full of character and surprisingly warm considering the age of the building. And Lola, our host for the evening, was outstandingly fun and friendly 😁

This place is amazing! We enjoyed spending the night there last week and have never stayed in such a beautiful and historic place before. Our room was 'Samuel Pepys" and I finally got to sleep in a beautiful canopied bed like you usually see on the other side of the rope in tours of such places. It was sweet and the little extras like the fresh milk and biscuits they take when they escort you to your room made it extra special. We at breakfast, lunch, and dinner there and it was delicious! I HIGHLY recommend the George for an unique experience in a beautiful place just far enough from the city of Bath.

A wonderful stay in a beautiful and historic pub. The room, dinner and breakfast were all superb and staff couldn't have been more helpful. Stunning and peaceful location and very handy for Bath. Hope to be back one day!

We visit The George regularly and have stayed overnight several times over the years. The food is amazing (the most recent visit on 9th). Never had a bad time spent there. The staff are very friendly, and always on hand to answer questions or tend to your needs. We love the history of the place, and the ambience is just so homely. We will definitely be back again, and hope to stay overnight again in the near future

We had a fabulous meal on Monday for my sons girlfriends birthday. My cauliflower Korma was delicious and the Venison was excellent as well. Lola the restaurant manager was amazing, so friendly and really made the evening special. The refurbishment has been beautifully done and felt very cosy on a cold November evening. Look forward to coming back for a Sunday roast soon.

Beautiful pub, can't comment on rooms as we only ate lunch there. It's really old and in a lovely village with great views from the garden. The bar and dining rooms are full of character,in keeping with the age of the inn. Food was delicious and a really great menu with interesting and different choices. The Italian manageress (?) was so friendly and attentive.

Stunning pub with a lot of history. It's been newly renovated very elegantly and I was mesmerised by the place all evening. Very warm welcome by the patrons and staffs. Well thought of Dinner menu catering a variety of choices and cooked to perfection. Couldn't recommended enough and certainly coming back. And special thanks to Linda for the glass. That was very kind.

I have not stayed here , but would love to. The service and environment was just perfect for a family Sunday lunch - and we had a great time exploring this historic pub. We were in the dungeon - which sounded ominous but turned out to be a warm, welcoming ambient room for larger tables if guests. The menu offered a really good selection, very important as some of our party were vegetarian / pescatarian. I can recommend - hand on heart - this is one of the loveliest pub experiences I have had in the UK for as long as I can remember. Shame I only have personal pics .

We've been going to The George for many years now and always enjoy excellent food and hospitality. We recommend a visit to this very old atmospheric and historical pub for exceptional food, wine beer and wonderful staff. Only thing I would love to see is a few more vegetarian options. There have been a few changes recently with the layout, its fantastic and hasn't lost any of its charm. Enjoy.

This is the perfect pub for medieval architecture enthusiasts. Such a large beautiful unspoilt medieval tavern with original real fireplaces and an ancient atmosphere. I come here time to time as it feels like a time warp in there. Lovely food and love the teas they do there.

We had a lovely stay at The George for our wedding anniversary. The location is stunning and we were lucky the weather was great the day we arrived so we could enjoy a drink in the garden overlooking the cricket ground with the village church in the background. You could not ask for a more typical English countryside view! The room was nice, clean and had everything we needed. We understood all the pub rooms are to be re-furbished soon so we'll definitely look forward to a return visit to see what they are like. Food in the restaurant was good. There was a good selection of different styles of food without being excessive, which hopefully meant all the ingredients were local and fresh. Service was exceptional from everyone who looked after us. You got the impression that everyone enjoyed working there. I have to make a special mention to Lola, who worked in the dining room in the evening. She was an absolute star and took the experience to the next level which her genuine Italian hospitality. Not just for us, but everyone got five star treatment, whether it was their birthday, entertaining children or just regular couples like us. Can't wait to return.

I only visited for an excellent and well priced coffee (sugar cubes were a good touch). I particularly enjoyed the lovely view. I have driven past this inn many times on the way to Bristol airport and for once I was ahead of schedule and had time to stop. Looks like it would be a lovely place to stay for a few nights.

Would give 6 stars if I could. Food was awesome (after a week of not-great options in Scotland), and the staff was SO helpful (we had two young kids and a baby). Rooms were lovely and the whole experience is just amazing. Playground and green are right behind the Inn, which made for lovely evening walks and hang time. All in all an amazing time.

Beautiful historic grade 1 building oozing with character and so many original features in a gorgeous quiet village. Great food and charming staff. The room was very comfortable and really warm on one of the coldest days of the year. I stayed in the main building in a traditional four poster bedroom that was very special and authentic. Plenty of on site parking. Lovely walks all around and very convenient for Bath (by bus or car) and Bradford-on-Avon is a lovely town just six miles away with a station ton the Bath and Bristol line in no time at all. Several farm shops selling delicious local produce are on the doorstep. Wells is not too far away either and as England's smallest city with a huge cathedral it is a must. Thank you Linda, Lola and the great team who made my stay an absolute delight. I'll be dropping in again soon. Simon.

I travel all across the UK for work and The George has gone straight into top place! Rooms are stunning in every way. Food cooked at night was amazing (best scotch egg Amy cooked THE BEST scrambled eggs and salmon . Then there's fantastic Lola. Full of energy and warmth, makes you feel so welcome and always checking in making sure all is well. Can't wait to be working down that neck of the woods again. Don't hesitate, book now!!

Stayed there for a wedding, that was close by, the hotel is very historic and beautiful with great quiet views of the country side and the best of Bath. I won’t lie, you have to have a purpose or a local friend to truly enjoy it since it is very quiet. If u are looking for that then u are at the right place. The staff was outstanding the room I stayed was great and if I had a significant other it could be described as romantic. But u have to bring that with you. The pub was historic, one night the bar tender who was as beautiful as she was charming allowed me to stand behind the bar and serve my friend. That is true hospitality and I thank her for that. the food was great and all around I had an outstanding time at the wedding and the hotel. I highly recommend the hotel but like I said it is a special place that u have to have advance knowledge off for it is a bit off the beaten path.

Lovely big room, comfy bed and sofa bed for our son (9). Dog friendly Very clean & tidy, helpful friendly staff. Limited vegan options for breakfast but they were happy to adapt a cooked option which was delicious and well presented. Great coffee!

We had a wonderful stay. Our room was great, a lovely four poster bed, which was very comfortable. All the staff were so nice and attentive, they were lovely. Our breakfasts and dinners were fantastic, with some great unusual dishes. A well worth visit and we would love to come again.

AMAZING experience at The George Inn. Outside of Bath and in the countryside, it is quiet and idyllic. The garden is lovely for drinks, the walk down to the church is easy and lovely as well. The staff is the best (especially Lola!). We ate dinner here twice and both times it was outstanding. Breakfast was great and had good hours as well. Our room, had a fan, but also had two windows that allowed us to create a cross breeze). Fresh milk for coffee/tea is also a lovely little touch. Highly recommend and would love to stay again!

The history of the building is fascinating and the swift’s nest beside our door was lovely, breakfast was excellent as were the helpful friendly staff. My only complaint is the standard of the bed linen and pillows. I feel if you’re charging £180 for B and B, the thread count of the linen should be 400 and the pillows not like cardboard! But overall a great stay.

Lovely old pub in the centre of the village. Bar areas with open fires, beautiful dining room. Very welcoming. Lovely big bedroom, reading floors! One issue is a bath only, with small hand shower not great for those who are not agile! overall a nice overnight stay. Comprehensive choice of breakfast, evening meal was usual pub food, cozy atmosphere.

A beautiful atmospheric pub. Had a few days mini break. Staff extremely helpful and friendly, food was great, made a special request to have fillet steak (which is not on the menu), oh my goodness they were fabulous, cooked to perfection the best we have ever had, well done chef. Will most certainly be going back, and would highly recommend

Amazing place, full of character and style. We booked two rooms, staying one night. The rooms were beautiful, and comfortable with lots of little extra details like a welcome drink, and lovely toiletries. Both our evening meal and breakfast were delicious. Staff were super friendly, welcoming and helpful. Would definitely stay again.

Fascinating building, almost feels like a castle. The view of the village from the beer garden was picture perfect, quintessentially English. Food and drink good, characterful room with nice decor and comfy bed. Lola our waitress was charming and fun. She was so kind and even entertained our baby whilst we ate. We will be back! Highly recommend.

I've known The George Inn for over 50 years. It's always been a fascinating building in a lovely location. Just recently I had reason to stay there again. The experience was exceptional. All of the staff were warm and welcoming, always looking for a way to make your stay better. The room was very clean and comfortable, with so many details to improve my stay. I would say that the detailed decor is probably better than anywhere else I've stayed. The menu is a lovely twist on regular pub food, with a few nice surprises thrown in. I can't recommend it highly enough!
