😠 For a school with such a high international/out of province student population who basically depend on this clinic as it is incredibly difficult to see a medical professional in Montreal with our measly insurance this clinic is very poorly ran. I managed to come in early enough to the walk in clini... People often mention appointment, clinic, wait, doctor, minutes, time, medical, people, book, helpful,

For a school with such a high international/out of province student population who basically depend on this clinic as it is incredibly difficult to see a medical professional in Montreal with our measly insurance this clinic is very poorly ran. I managed to come in early enough to the walk in clinic and after a ~4 hour wait I managed to see a doctor. He ordered a blood test and basically said my problem was caused by stress and told me to come back in two weeks if the problem persists. I go to the reception to make an appointment and they only take appointments on one day of the week. So I wait till Wednesday and I call... only to wait for 2 hours without speaking to anyone before giving up. I decided to drop in instead so 2 weeks later I reach the clinic at 8. They’re full. I go again a couple days later at 7:45. The doctor I saw wasn’t in that day. I ask when he will be available. Nobody knows. I am encouraged to keep dropping in until he is there. I go once more. I wake up at 6 because I live far away and by the time I reach the clinic it is 7:15. Around 35 people are there, with tickets. I wait for around 15 minutes before we are informed that they are only taking 15 people that day. How can a school is big have a health centre so poorly ran?

This clinic is the absolute worst. I don’t understand how a university clinic has doctors and reception staff who don’t care about their patients. The doctor I saw either hates her job, or she received her MD from some third grade medical institution. This woman saw me crying about my horrible back pain, and told me that she didn’t know what I wanted and that she could do nothing. Don’t be stupid. Send me for x-rays, an MRI, and prescribe pain relieves for the time being. Idiot. I also had to wait 40 minutes to see her, despite having booked an appointment 2 weeks prior. Trying to book an appointment is a whole other disaster. I called at 10am, like I was supposed to, only to end up waiting 40 minutes to BOOK my appointment. What an absurd clinic. For such a large and renowned university, it’s ridiculous how crappy the medical clinic is. Update: I saw a second doctor a few times, and she’s actually been incredibly helpful. She took the time to listen to me and gave helpful medical advice. It seems that some of the doctors are actually good at their jobs, while some are not. I’m still only giving the clinic 2 stars because the appointment system is outdated. Patients shouldn’t have to call at 10am and then wait upwards of 45 minutes just to book an appointment.

Worst experience. 1. It’s very hard to get them on the phone (couldn’t cancel an appointment and was charged 25$ because of that) 2. The nurse failed my test so I had to come back and retake it (MYSELF) 3. They were not able to diagnose me correctly, even after Xrays 4. The nurse (I was not even able to see a doctor) told me to see her again in 2 weeks and they weren’t able to give me an appointment so I spent 2 months with no prescription nor solution to my issue 5. The lady at the desk was rude 6. You have to come 30 minutes before your appointment and end up waiting 2 hours because they are EXTREMELY LATE The whole system needs to be rethought. For the sake of your health, I would never recommend this clinic to someone.

Look, as far as I know, as long as you’re polite and to the point the receptionists are all very helpful and kind, they certainly don’t hate the students they serve. I feel as though they’re possibly overwhelmed by the quantity of people they have to process throughout a full day. That said, the wait line is long and often you won’t see your doctor until about an hour or more after your scheduled appointment. But everyone at the clinic works with what they got! The doctors are very kind, calm, and helpful! As I said, if you’re not “bête” with the receptionists they’re more than happy to help! (They have to be curt because turning away sick students on a regular is already difficult enough). I’ve been going to the clinic for the past three years and while it’s not the best one it certainly does it’s best to give you some of the best possible medical care.

The nurses and some doctors are very sweet and caring, I would not have made it out of my depression if it wasn't for one of the nurses. However, I've been here for the past 4.5 years and I've always had rude interactions with one of the receptionists/secretaries...never smiles, never responds when you say "how are you", interrupts you all the time, speaks in a monotone voice like she doesn't want to be talking to you...like I get it sis, you're probably tenured so there's no incentive + you deal with countless people but maybe don't work in a job where you're dealing with vulnerable/sick/disabled people if you don't want to? One summer, I asked for a band-aid after slicing a finger open and now there's a permanent white scar and the nerves paralyzed. Thanks McGill! :) If you can afford or have the energy/resources to, try going to another clinic.

The reception is not very nice or receptive. I had one receptionist call me to book an appointment. I said I had class until 10:30, so she gave me a 10:40 appointment. Then I was reprimanded by a different receptionist for not being 30 minutes early. I have had my blood tested 4 times now to check my condition, and have never gotten a call by someone who has seen my actual results. I am very fed up with the service here. Clinic visits aren’t that bad when the people helping are kind.

DO NOT GO THERE! It has to be the most disorganized clinic that I’ve ever seen. First they never answer your phone calls. Second you have to wait forever before to speak to a receptionist that will most likely tell you to come back in a month to get an appointment. I spoke to two receptionist one was kind and patient but the other one was awfully disrespectful towards everyone. She was rude and treated students as if they were stupid and to blame for not being able to see a doctor. I had to cancel an appointment at some point and I called 4 days in advance and left a message, the policy requires to cancel at least 24h in advance to not be billed, but they still billed me. It is not my fault if they do not have the capacities to listen to their messages. I had to go justify myself to the accounting office why I didn’t have to pay. The rude receptionist still blamed me for « not showing up » even if it was her staff’s lack of competence that had to be blamed. Honestly going there will only male you waste your time and energy

I've called to make an appointment 10 times over 2 days at different hours. They never pick up their phones... Why? Why do they have a phone that they never pick up? Are they shortstaffed? Do they not care? Are they that busy? I'm sure McGill has enough money to hire more staff. Instead of rebuilding buildings and doing new constructions all year round every single year, please prioritize the clinic and ill students who want an accessible place to be treated.

Doctors are fine. Desk staff however are slow and disorganized. You get put on hold for 40 mins when you call in to make an appointment. When you are finally able to speak with someone, you can’t book an appointment until 3 weeks later. Waiting time is absurd, especially for an urgent walk-in appointment. Clinic opens at 8:30 am, what I usually do is get to the Brown building by 7 (when it opens) so I can get a ticket number which is outside the actual clinic. Even getting the second number today, my appointment with the doctor was scheduled at 9:15. I will be spending 2.5 hours here. Not to mention, if I hadn’t woken up at 6:30 this morning just to get here early, I most likely would have to waste even more time waiting.

Took me three tries to manage to get a drop-in appointment at the Clinic... I didn't arrive less than 45 minutes before it opened on any of those days. Plus it's nearly impossible to book a regular appointment - there's never anything open. Still, I had to give it at least two stars for how fantastic the medical team there is - when you do get to see them, they are wonderful, caring, patient, honest, respect your autonomy, treat you like a mature and intelligent human being, and make sure your questions are answered and you are comfortable with the chosen method of treatment.

What’s the point of having an appointment if that means “u have to come 30 minutes early to wait for more than 1 hour for your APPOINTMENT time.” Despite the fact that I have waited for 30 minutes to book this not helpful at all appointment a week ago. Worst clinic experience I have ever, this messed up medical system literally forces me to fly back home and go to see the doctors there. But the doctor who helped me was really nice and she was really helpful.
