I began this journey to earn my black belt on my sobriety birthday of 12 years & 10 months. (05/28/2019) The staff here are very kind & most of all informative. The process in becoming a member was quick, fast & easy. The facility is very large & The students are very pleasant. I’ve been with Kovars at a different location, but i’ve taken up BJJ recently with their program, it’s fun and has a great learning environment, great place to make friends as well.

Such an encouraging program for my 3rd grader. We have been going since he was 6. The instructors work magic with him and he is always happier when he leaves and repeats some great lessons about being a good person outside of class. I would highly recommend.

Kovar’s Satori Academy is top notch! The staff genuinely cares about you or you child and helps develop not only physical fitness and self-defense but build focus, confidence, and self-discipline in each student. Classes are taught with enthusiasm and a strong knowledge base. Kovar’s is also taking every possible step to maintain safe social distancing, wearing masks/gloves, and are offering online classes as well as classes in the park!

Excellent place to come in train. Teresa is a very knowledgeable and fun instructor. She does an amazing job helping us drill technique and learn application of different Krav skills. Best gym ever, would highly recommend to anyone looking to get into Krav Maga for self defense skills. Will be a student for life and looking forward to continue the journey to black belt at this gym.

I have trained in this location for a number of years in Krav Maga. The instructors create a safe and encouraging environment for all ages, skill levels, and levels of conditioning. They have an obvious level of proficiency in the curriculum that has been published by the Krav Maga Alliance while still being able to expand with tips on how maneuvers may be applied more effectively. Krav Maga is the quickest route from knowing absolutely nothing about defending yourself to becoming an able combatant in a variety of situations, and each level builds upon the previous one (from learning how to throw a proper punch in level 1 through defending from an armed assailant on the other side of a countertop in levels 5 and 6). Beyond the high quality of instruction, the sense of team and camaraderie that I experience with my fellow students is built quickly and strongly. This is because it is a unique experience that you are sharing with these people and you have to trust them to practice safely just as they must trust you. Class after class of sweating, training and sparring with the same people is a relationship that you can only know if you've been party to it. I have built friendships with these people that I see twice a week for an hour far more quickly than I do with people at work that I see every day for 8 hours.

I have been with Kovars for over 15 years, first as a parent watching my daughters, then to myself as a student, to now as an employee and student. Our training at the Carmichael Academy has been the best experience for our whole family. The Carmichael staff goes out of their way to make you feel welcome and make your training fun and fulfilling. I highly recommend that you come in and see for yourself. You won’t be disappointed.

My son's been attending class for 2 months now and he loves it. The staff is very good with the kids. They're all funny and make it fun but they're also great at teaching discipline and when to be serious. I'm extremely happy we decided to sit in and watch a class!

My daughter joined Kovar’s Carmichael just under a year ago when she was 11 years old. Up until then we had not been able to find an extracurricular activity that kept her interest, and team sports were a real struggle. We started with the 2-week trial and on day one she said “Please sign me up!! Please sign me up!” — and she has absolutely thrived ever since. The instructors make lessons so fun, and have the wonderfully rare ability to meet her at her level and provide encouragement that has helped her push beyond what she ever thought she could do. It’s an awesome thing to see your child so proud of themselves and feel such a sense of belonging. Lastly, the values and respect for oneself and others that are taught here are absolutely wonderful!

Kovars and it's instructors are top notch. The program teaches martial arts, but more importantly respect and discipline. The instructors are amazing, absolutely fantastic with the kids. All our respect and appreciation.

This team is absolutely amazing! They care about my daughter and push her to help her grow. We have moved, but still continue to make the drive as this has been such a good experience for us.

This is the only sport my daughter has ever expressed interest in and initially I wasn't sure I wanted her to do it. But I have never been so wrong - Kovar's has a "whole child" approach that has made my daughter's life better in every way. The teachers & assistants are awesome, positive, and make her happy to be a part of each and every class. I hope she's a part of Kovar's for years to come.
