Nice walking but where’s the water? We went hoping for birds and there were a few at the feeders by the visitor center and it was a quiet few miles… but sad about the water.

Great place to go for a morning hike, bike ride, or an afternoon picnic with the family. Trails are well defined and clean, some of them have observation decks; they have benches and clear signs. There’s lots of trees and vegetation in the park and of course lots of birds and wildlife.

Very nice park with lots of good walking trails. Most are 1 mile or less.

Wow! Entering the park in front of the visitor center we were greeted by the beautiful sounds of birds. The first sight of the Green Jay and Kiskade the beauty were mind boggling. I’ve been to quite a few Texas State Parks but this ranks number one! As posted by others make sure you wear insect (mosquito) spray and carry bottle water for your hike.

Great for birding, went in March and saw quite a few birds. The bird blinds right by the visitor center is really nice. Take the golf cart tour of the park, you'll learn a lot.

Great state park! Known best for it's birding opportunities, this large park provides great opportunities to see the birds of the Rio Grande Valley. Rarities are found here every year, such as Tropical Parula, Roadside Hawk, Rose-throated Becard, Blue Bunting, and many more. The staff is friendly, helpful, and very knowledgable of the birds and other wildlife the park has to offer.

Super peaceful and I really enjoyed myself the park has suffered from the freeze about a month ago so not many flowers right now and during the afternoon not a lot of animal activity but I was able to see at least four species of birds and a cottontail rabbit. Also unfortunately there are a lot of non native grasses and they choked out a lot of natural habitat 4 native animal species. But it's well worth an afternoon of Adventure hopefully you like walking you'll walk about 4 miles.

Resaca De LA Palma State Park is beautiful! We went on a hot Saturday in September and it was still very warm. We had quite a bit of rain weeks back and everything in the park was green and pretty. The only problem was the mosquitoes. There were a ton of them! We used deet free mosquito repellant, but still got bit. Other than that the park is clean, quiet, and very pretty. I would love to visit when it's cooler outside. I really liked the views!

The night hike event was nice. My 4 year old grandson enjoyed it thought the low light, crayon color activity was so cool. Margarita and Marco were great! They were so informative. I didn't know scorpions glow in the dark.

Very nice, clean park. Not as many birds as I had hoped for, but the 3 photo blinds did offer a lot of ops to see and take pics. I even got 2 life birds here; Clay-colored Thrush and Hooded Oriole. Very clean modern restrooms too.

We went to see two rare birds (Gray-Collared Becard and Roadside Hawk), and scored on both. The park itself is lovely, the staff super helpful and friendly, and the facilities are perfect. We couldn’t ask for more!

We had an excellent visit in the middle of Sept. Got there right when it opened to be the heat. Did the tour with Raul and it was excellent. We saw Harris's Hawks, Coyote tracks, Turkey Vulchers, Groove-billed Anis, Blue winged Mexican Butterfly and many other critters. Then, we took a self guided bike ride. It was excellent. Stayed til about noon when it got really hot. Will definitely go back!

I LOVED visiting this park! A must-do if you’re in the Valley. This park feels so alive—like you can see butterflies, beetles, birds, and ants in abundance. Cycling around the park via cruiser (bring your own helmet!) was such a novelty. Would go again. Would recommend bug spray and all trails leading to observation decks.

A great escape from the everyday life of the city. A gem in our own Valley backyard. Me and my little lady rented a couple bikes only to return in time to take the tram. Volunteers Jim and his wife were great. Hardly anyone so it ended up just being us 4 on the tram. They offered insight to the park and stopped at several locations in which we did some nature observations. We had a great time and will be back again. Loved the Armadillos. Spotted several of them scrimmaging amongst the green grass Resaca. Variety of birds out in the open. No bobcat sightings but we did last time.

I hate to give this place 5 stars as I don't want people to find out about this jewel of a place 😁. I truly enjoyed our visit. If you go, make sure you take your tennis shoes and/or a bike to take advantage of the walking and bike trails. You may also want to consider barbecuing there which is what we did. Being surrounded by nature is much better than eating at a noisy restaurant. The staff are very nice and the building, (especially the bathrooms), are kept extremely clean. Pets are allowed which is another plus (just please keep them on a leash) . Looking forward to going back again! 🙂

Resaca De La Palma State Park is an excellent place for birdwatching. An abundance of Green Jays and Altamira Orioles can be seen from the bird blind behind the park station.

Great birding spot. Like three dollars a person to visit, well worth it. You'll see birds here you likely won't see much further north. Great staff. Nice visitors center and spotless bathrooms. Free tram ride tour after your admission. Lots of trails and feeder areas that bring birds in. It's even good birding right from the parking lot !

Definitely my personal favorite state park in the lower RGV. Hiking trails are surprisingly difficult and the park itself is a good size. Like effectively every nature preserve in the RGV, this is an amazing place to go birding and wildlife viewing in general. Trails are well-kept, staff is friendly and there is an observatory here operated by UTRGV.

If you enjoy nature this park is for you! Absolutely enjoyed walking around the trails. I was able to see colorful species of birds. Its bike friendly, although you can only use in designated areas. Please pay the entrance fee...it's only $4 per adult. Kids under 12 are free. Remember that money helps fund the park. 🌿

The best place to go to for an afternoon hike or bike ride. Miles of trails with benches and observation decks that allow the opportunity to view many different birds and wildlife. The visitor center has a gift shop, snacks and drinks and the staff are amazing. Bring plenty of water, bug spray is recommended.

Great variety in habitat and local wildlife. We saw lots of birds, including scissortail flycatchers, little blue herons, and great kiskadees. Also ran across a rough green snake and a couple cottontails. Tram tour was very interesting and informative. Wear mosquito spray on the trails or prepare to be eaten alive.

This was a nice state park. We loved the memorial and observatory. It was good to get out to walk around in nature. The water is dried up so didn't get to see very many birds. The place behind the bird blind really needed to be cleaned out with fresh water for the chachalacas that were there. Bring bug repellent, because the mosquitoes are hungry.
