Beautifully well kept gardens, vegetable patches, lawns and Lake. Wonderful Large sized garden with a beautiful smell of flowers. The staff at the entrance were friendly. The entrance fee was £11 per person and parking is free. You are free to explore the large gardens and there is some information about the history in the house and the Cheshire Cottage. The gardens take inspiration from different cultures such as China, Italy and Egypt. It was a very enjoyable walk and it is also worth taking the time to feed the fish in the lake.

A stunning place with surprises around every corner. Having not read any reviews beforehand I only expected a short walk around woodland and gardens. I didn't expect the tunnels, the winding off-piste footpaths and interactions with architecture. My favourite NT site so far and my most local too. Looking forward to coming back when it's all in bloom.

I've always liked walking round the gardens, looking at the changes each season brings. It's a lovely way to clear the head, if on your own, or a nice way to spend time with friends. The cafe is lovely, and there's seating outside in good weather. I particularly like the long gallery with the fossils. Not sure how long it's been there but a really nice addition.

Visited on a rainy day but we managed to miss the heavy showers. This was my first visit and it was well worth it. Lovely well maintained gardens and very friendly staff. Well worth a visit

Would have got 5 stars if better paths and more ramps. Superb gardens but even both cafe areas up steps. Nor really wheelchair accessible. Free car park with accessible spaces. Nb House not open to public. Lots of steps! Outdoor seating available.

This time it was just a very quick stop for lunch. But a truly beautiful national trust location I am definitely going to revisit for a proper visit and to fully appreciate the gardens. Hard work going on the NT commited teams making it such an amazing place. So many places for a sit and to admire the grounds. A few areas off limits due to maintenance but all for the greater good and renovation. A perfect location to enjoy with families I can imagine with the winding paths and different levels to explore.

From start to finish me and my family had a wonderful first visit. All of the staff we came across were so nice and friendly. The gardens were beautiful, we can't wait to see it when the flowers are blooming. Thank you to the lady who gave us a little talk about the fossils, my girls really enjoyed this. The buildings inside are outstanding. We can't wait to come again. Thank you

Absolutely fantastic gardens. A real botanical feast for the eyes. The history behind the gardens is really interesting. There is a wide selection of plants from around the world but the best thing is the design of the garden leads you through sections as if you’re travelling around the world. You are in Italy for a moment, then you are in the americas. Through a cute cottage you’re then in Egypt and before you know it you’re deep in the jungle and thrust out into Asia. It’s a mad experience as far as gardens go it’s a proper roller coaster! It’s not a huge place and you can easily get around all areas in a few hours. It’s easy to navigate and suitable for all ages and fitness levels. The house is private so it’s only the gardens you can visit. Although the cafe and bookshop are part of the house. Parking is decent, there are picnic areas around the car park. The shop is small but has a nice selection and there is a good selection of plants and garden accessories available. A brilliant day out.

Lovely place to walk around the house, gardens, lakes and lawns plus woody areas and tunnels! Kids enjoyed the adventure playground obstacles down one long twisty path, as well as playing some games on a few of the lawn areas of the grounds. The "kitchen" vegetable garden was pleasant (saw some seasonal kale, courgettes and apples and plums); but we somehow missed out on the "China" area of the grounds so didn't get to see a pagoda, and oriental bridges around a lake of it's own. Maybe another time! Shop at the ticket entrance plus two cafes near the back and side of the house.

We loved this garden. Lots of activities for kids, games like throwing wellies and soft balls left there for families to enjoy. (Sanitiser provided to use!) Love the little caves for kids to walk around. We loved climbing the rocks in the China garden. Beautiful and colorful pictures in this area. Lovely tearoom/shop. They also have a second hand book shop.

Top place to visit. Very unusual gardens. Spent a very pleasant couple of hours here. Got there just before lunchtime and managed to get a parking space near the entrance.. Left at 2pm and even the overflow car park was looking full.

Lovely garden to visit. Smaller than majority of National trust areas we have been to but extremely beautiful and worth a visit. Staff are friendly and the garden is very well maintained. Gorgeous flowers all around. Toilets near the main entrance along with a cafe, second-hand bookshop and shop. There is an area with some outside games to play like connect 4, jenga and boules (free) Car park is free

Lovely place to wonder around. Pushchair friendly only on in the small area. There are lots of steps and most beautiful parts of the garden accessible on feet only. Picnic area next to the carpark, no picnics on the territory of the gardens. However, there are plenty of benches. Forest trail playground is available for kids.

National Trust property. Lovely well maintained Gardens, great fun to explore. Lots of steps and winding narrow paths. I did see a few buggies about and there are some wide paths giving access to areas, consult NT website for a better idea of accessibility. Toilet and café facilities are good and there's plenty of parking.

Really lovely gardens. A small garden by national trust standards but plenty to see. You need to be fairly fit and mobile to make the most out of this garden. Staff very helpful.

Fantastic place to visit. The garden is beautiful and there is also a cafe, where you can have a break after the walk. We’ve spent there about 2h and enjoyed every minute of it. There are also picnic tables near the car park, where you can bring your own lunch if you prefer. Highly recommend

Biddulph Grange is a beautiful National Trust estate with exquisite gardens of various varieties. It is a worthwhile place to visit. The house is still a private residence and consequently not open to the public. However the gardens will give you plenty to do.

It was a wet, cold day when I visited this garden but this did not spoil my experience of this wonderful place. There is much to see there. When I visited there was a beautiful display of dahlias and I enjoyed exploring the Chinese Garden which has undergone recent restoration. I was most impressed with the garden urn which is thought to be the largest in Britain. The house is privately owned and not open to the public but there is a very pleasant café and a shop selling a good range of products.

Lovely gardens with an interesting history to learn about during a visit. Formal gardens, woodland walks or just chill on one of many lawns and seats around. Children's activities were on the tennis lawn and there was a woodland walk with natural play area. Refreshments are available with indoor and outdoor seating. Due to the geography of the location there are many steps. Large scooters like mine are restricted to lower areas, though smaller scooters, wheelchairs and other mobility aids could get further. Some areas are only accessible with care using walking sticks, plenty of places to rest if distance a problem. Highly reccomended day out for all the family to enjoy.

Great place to visit, mainly the gardens and visit takes you on a global journey from Italy to the pyramids of Egypt, a Victorian vision of China and a re-creation of a Himalayan glen. The Geological Gallery shows how Bateman's interests went beyond botany. Opened in 1862 the unique hallway is a Victorian attempt to reconcile geology and theology. There are narrow gravel paths and over 400 steps throughout the garden.

Beautiful gardens in sections. There was plenty to interest children, especially on the woodland walk. You walk from garden to garden following paths. Nice tea rooms and clean toilets.

Amazing Adventure around the gardens..lots of caves, tunnels, bridges and towers. The gardens seemed to go on forever. Beautiful plants.from.all around the world... lots of fun activities to keep the kids entertained. We loved it!

It was raining it down when we went, but as there were plenty of places to take refuge from the rain we managed to see the majority of the gardens. Brilliant place with lots of thought gone into the design of the gardens. Loved seeing the newly restored China bridge. Well worth a visit, probably even better on a sunny day.

What a wonderful and intriguing visit! Not been for 20+ years and of course the Trees and bushes have certainly grown!!! Take your time to walk down steps, through Passages and up to the Chinese Bridge and pond. There's lots to see and, as it's the School holidays, lots of activities for children. Cafe was great and Staff friendly and efficient. Do visit but wear good tread Walking boots or Trainers, especially when it's raining ( lots of places to shelter in 😀) Just enjoy but take your time 😊 We will return soon.

What a fabulous place this is! It's totally unique and, despite the rain, was great fun to explore! Came with a group and spent a couple of hours here. The NT guides were very welcoming and informative, and we were each given a map to help us find our way round. The large and impressive house was closed to the public, but we were free to wander around the gardens at will. It was like doing a whirlwind tour of the world, from the formal Italian terraces and an Egyptian temple courtyard to the otherworldly oak stump "sculptures" in the stumpery, a colourful and authentic Chinese garden and the lush greenery of the rocky Himalayan Glen. There were tunnels, follies and archways all along the route. The gardens are imaginatively laid out and very well maintained, with magnificent mature trees and flowering plants from all over the world. Be aware that some of the paths are uneven and there are lots of steps. Bought a nice sandwich in the little tea room where you can also get soup, sausage rolls, pasties and other light snacks as well as drinks and cakes. There are also clean toilets, a second-hand book shop, plants for sale and a reasonable sized parking area. Some good quality gifts in the shop, and the lady who served me was so friendly. Did not get to see every part of these gardens, but I loved what I saw and will definitely return.

Lovely National trust property but much smaller than some others. Beautiful gardens but unfortunately not much in bloom (April). We went with children for the Easter Hunt trail. Nice activities and all mine (ages 7-15) were engaged. Some areas have narrow paths and steps that would be very difficult if not impossible to navigate with a pram (first hand experience 5yrs ago). Nice little tea room, prices as to be expected. Second hand book shop and small garden shop.

Beautiful well kept/maintained gardens with plenty to explore. Ideal for children too with activities available around the woodland walk. There is a spacious tea room with plenty of choice. Will be visiting again soon once the flowers are in full bloom.

Amazing place! we were here for about 2 hours on a sunny warm day and we walked quite a lot of the gardens. Shame the Dahlia walk didn’t have any dahlias, maybe next time! The rhododendrons were amazingly beautiful!

Beautiful gardens to wander around, getting lost sometimes. Not as large as we first expected but definitely one of our favourites to come back to. House is never open as it doesn't belong to the National Trust. Cafe is amazing & great service (above expectations) - the one-pot or soup is always the way to go. Worth visiting at different times of the year to see the different flowers blooming.

Really nice day out walking in all the different gardens with different themes (chinese etc), has a tea too which sells basic items but okay for a coffee and cake, it does have. Lovely room next to it where you can sit.. the main food room was closed when I went ( no explanation why?) . Overall a nice day.

Gorgeous and quirky garden that keeps on going. Admission is free for National Trust members. Glad we bought one of the fish food bags (£1); it was hilarious to feed the koi fish at the pond and see the greedy ducks try to steal the pellets. The dahlia walk and Chinese garden are beautiful. Make sure to review the map so you don’t miss anything, and look out for the cats who live on the grounds — so cute.

First visit back in about 25 years and just as enchanting. Absolutely loved it and just missing my kids when they were little. My absolutely favourite part is the amazing stumpery but such a variety of gorgeousness everywhere. The fact that it had been raining just added to the atmosphere.

  • 5/5 Glenise B. 2 years ago on Google
Lovely place to walk around the beautiful gardens and opportunity to feed the fish and ducks. Found a few hidden treasure places too. Didn't brave the cave walk though. Apart from that it's a lovely place with lovely friendly staff too.

Dropped in during our staycation trip around the UK. Wasn't sure what to expect but was blown away! Surprises around every corner. Absolutely loved these gardens. Cafe/tea room just as you would expect from National Trust. Small amount of seating indoors and lots of tables outside. All staff on site friendly and helpful

Such a wonderful garden to explore for the young and old, no matter what the season. The various themed sections all connected using secret tunnels and paths. Beautifully kept by the staff and a pleasure to wander around. The house itself is privately owned but don't miss the paleontology exhibit in the back of the grounds, part of the original estate.

  • 5/5 Dr S. 2 years ago on Google
Beautiful! Plenty to explore so make sure you get a map of the garden. Weather wasn’t on my side so had to leave early. I can imagine spring/summer to be exceptionally beautiful with flowers blooming. Free for NT members. Clean individual toilet cubicles at the entrance.

Last Friday, 15/04/22. A lovely day at National Trust Biddulph Grange, near Congleton. The gardens are a delight, lots of colour, the Chinese Garden is exceptional. The Dahlia Walk is currently the Tulip Walk 😁. Enjoyed tea & a Hot Cross Bun/Scone hybrid with a marmalade topping at the Camellia Tea Room with a delightful view over the gardens. Staff were friendly & helpful. A good day out 🤗.

  • 5/5 Nick G. 2 years ago on Google
Great garden with various different sections and themes, visited in in February half term so a lot of plants were being planted for spring/summer. I imagine it’s even better then.

  • 5/5 Bea H. 2 years ago on Google
Such a beautiful garden. Lots to explore, and a great section for the kids. It really feels like you go on an adventure. We took a picnic, plenty of little spots to sit and have a cup of tea. Not too long to walk the kids (ours are 5 and 7). There can be some areas with lots of steps or uneven flooring so not sure a pram or wheelchair would get around too easily but lots of nice flat walks to explore. We didn't realize there was a tea room, but did stop in the cafe which overlooked the gardens and was set in a stunning 18th century drawing room (which also had a small arts and crafts table for the kiddies). Highly recommend for a family afternoon out. We did the walk in about 3 hours with a stop for coffee.

A lovely National Trust place to visit with all the facilities you'd expect, good for all ages with a fair amount to do and see, lots of colourful flowers to look at when in bloom. I had a great time. One downside to my visit was it being a little tricky to find the correct entrance to the place, set the carpark for the area on Google maps if you've not been before.

  • 5/5 Jorge G. 1 year ago on Google
Beautiful well kept gardens plenty of photo opportunities and a fantastic walk. There are lots of narrow walkways and steps people with mobility issues or wheelchairs etc will struggle to access a lot of the areas. Conversely it isn't the longest walk I would plan something else if you are traveling a distance to visit

  • 5/5 Mark A. 2 years ago on Google
Such a wonderful garden with so much to discover, so many hidden treasures. A good walk too. The dahlias are incredible, so many varieties. It's a must see if you like gardening. Some great historical details and information as well. Fantastic!

  • 5/5 Denise H. 1 year ago on Google
A wonderful day here. Stunning gardens. Lots to see and photograph. The colours of the shrubs just breathtaking. Chinese gardens our favourite. Beautiful cafe with plenty of tables outdoor too to enjoy the weather and watch the world go by. Can highly recommend this Garden.

  • 5/5 kay 1 year ago on Google
Beautiful stunning gardens. Plenty to see. Lovely little coffee shop. The wood trail is good for children as there are a couple of play items made out of wood for the kids to try out. £12 to enter, bargain price. The road trip was also worth it, with fantastic views over the valley. There is a county park next door which you can also wonder around. Its a must visit.

  • 5/5 Paul P. 1 year ago on Google
Certainly one for the green fingers! A super NT facility. Grounds excellently and expertly maintained. The array of colours and scents amazing. Nice little tea room. Well worth a visit. Not the easiest grounds to navigate if you take the 3 or 4 tunnels.

  • 5/5 Rachel S. 1 year ago on Google
Incredible gardens with such beautiful planting and so many different areas to see. Particular highlights include the Chinese garden, the geological gallery and the rather eerie stumpery. Be aware that guests with mobility challenges and families with very young children will find the irregular paths and many, many steps very difficult to negotiate. Very worthwhile if you can manage it.
