The place has very peaceful vibes especially at night. The water is freezing cold, but you get refreshed after dips in ganges. Its a 1 day visit place. There is good market for shopping but you have to bargain they sometimes tell 3x prices. Food is also in the budget, rooms are booked on special occasion and peak season.

Har Ki Pauri, situated in the sacred city of Haridwar in Uttarakhand, India, is a truly beautiful and enchanting destination. It is a place that holds immense religious and cultural significance and is a must-visit for pilgrims and tourists alike. Translated as "Steps of Lord Shiva," Har Ki Pauri is a ghat (riverbank) located on the banks of the holy river Ganges. It is believed to be the spot where Lord Vishnu left his footprint, making it a revered site for Hindus. The ghat is adorned with countless temples, ashrams, and spiritual centers, creating a serene and sacred ambiance. Har Ki Pauri is a famous ghat on the banks of the Ganges in Haridwar in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. This revered place is the major landmark of the holy city of Haridwar. Literally, "Har" means "God", "Ki" means " 's " and "Pauri" means "steps". Lord Vishnu is believed to have visited the Brahmakund in Har Ki Pauri in the Vedic times. Evening view of Har Ki Pauri, Haridwar It is believed that it is precise spot where the Ganges leaves the mountains and enters the plains. The ghat is on the west bank of Ganges canal through which the Ganges is diverted just to the north. Har Ki Pauri is also the area where thousands of pilgrims converge and the festivities commence during the Kumbha Mela (कुम्भ मेला), which takes place every twelve years, and the Ardh Kumbh Mela (अर्धकुम्भ मेला), which takes place every six years and the Punjabi festival of Vaisakhi, a harvest festival occurring every year in the month of April. Contents History Har Ki Pauri and adjoining areas from opposite bank of the Ganges, 1866. Har Ki Pauri, in 1880s. King Vikramaditya is said to have built it in 1st century BC in the memory of his brother, Bharthari who had come to meditate here on the bank of the Ganges. An area within Har Ki Pauri, where the evening Ganga Aarti takes places and which is considered most sacred is known as Brahmakund (ब्रह्म कुण्ड). It is considered to be the spot where the drops of Amrit fell over from the sky, while being carried in a pitcher by the celestial bird, Garuda after the Samudra Manthan. Every day, Har Ki Pauri ghat witnesses hundreds taking a dip in water of the Ganges. The place is considered very auspicious. Over the years the ghats have undergone major extension and renovation as the crowds increased in subsequent Kumbh Melas. Several temples have come up on the steps, most built in late 19th century. The extension of the ghats took place in 1938 (done by Hargyan Singh Katara, a Zamindar from Agra in Uttar Pradesh), and then again in 1986. Ganga Aarti Evening Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri, Haridwar Each evening at sunset, the priests of Har ki Pauri perform the – Ganga Aarti – over an old tradition. Where lights are set on the water to drift downstream. A large number of people gather on both banks of the ganga river to sing Ganga Aarti praises. At that time the priests hold large Fire Bowls in their hands, rungs bells at the temples situated at the ghat and chants are chanted by the priests. People flick Diya (made of leaves and flowers) into the river Ganges as a symbol of hopes and wishes. However, on some special cases, like on the occurrence of eclipses, the time of the Ganga Aarti is be altered accordingly. Drying the Waters in the Ganga Canal Every year generally on the night of Dussehra the waters in the Ganga Canal in Rishav Haridwar are partially dried to do the job of cleaning the riverbed and undertake the repairing of the ghats. The waters are generally restored on the night of Diwali. But the Ganga Aarti is held every day as usual. It is believed that Maa Ganga visits her paternal house on the day of Dussehra and returns on the day of Bhai Dooj or Bhai Phota

Haridwar is a very important tourist place, it can also be called the main gate of religious places of Devbhumi Uttarakhand. The region ends and the region of the small mountain begins, the city of Haridwar is situated at such a place, most of its area is plain. Mother Ganges is the heart of this city, this city situated on both sides of the river Ganges is the priceless gift of nature, about which I write less. It is a request to all the tourists and the natives of this place, this is a whole world tourist place, just we should try to keep it clean and healthy. Thank you You can also follow to get information about Uttarakhand tour and other tourist places located in Uttarakhand.

Best time to visit for relaxing and enjoying the magic of Ma Ganga is during the night time. Reach there around 8:00 p.m, enjoy the street foods and shopping. From 10:00 p.m, to around 2:00 a.m, is the best time to take few dips in the river as there is lesser crowd.

What a beautiful and peaceful place is this...! You should have a dip in holy ganga water which is extremely cold even in summer due to high flow and running water. The vibe of this place is something else, you connect with the god, you can enjoy evening aarti here and nice veg food as well.

Nice ambiance in the bank of Ganga at Haridwar. Lots of rush also there. Once in a life definitely everybody wants to visit this place. Such a wonderful experience. We went to there at the Kavadias festival time. So lots of rush that time but that also a wonderful experience. We had walked more than 3 kilometres from Railway station to reach this temple. Lots of shops are there for local purchase. Ganga Aaradi is a special culture around 7pm according to the Sun set time. Don't go this place during this festival time mostly at the time of July end.

I visited during noon time hoping that it won't be crowded and as it's covid time. It was heavily crowded and not a peaceful place to be in. Ganga arti is special here and is worth watching in the evening. If you don't like crowded place, better avoid it. Ganga river flowing across the bridge is wonderful to watch.

Har Ki Pauri (translates to steps of Lord Shiva) is famous and sacred ghat on Ganga River in the holy city of Haridwar. This is where the River Ganga leaves the mountains and enter the plains. This is the site for Kumbh Mela, which takes place every twelve years. The famous Ganga Aarti takes place in the evening which is considered most sacred. This place is called Brahmakund. It is believed that Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu visited Brahmakund during the Vedic period. Thousands of people take a dip daily in the holy water of River Ganga at this auspicious place. The ghats on both the banks have been extended and renovated, as it is getting more and more crowded. Large number of people gather in the evening for Ganga Aarti on both banks. The pujaris perform Aarti with fire bowls in their hands, chanting and ringing bells. The whole atmosphere becomes so divine and blessed. You should try to go little early to get the best spot for the Aarti. King Vikramaditya constructed the ghats at Har Ki Pauri in the memory of his brother. The city of Haridwar and ghats are always packed with pilgrims through out the year. Hence, the cleaning is an issue. This is a must visit place for any Hindu and should visit here at least once in his lifetime. This was on top of my list for this trip to India from US.

Holy place for Hindu people. The famous Ganga aarti takes place here starting at 6.30 PM. People start gathering and start holding spots on the opposite bank of the River that can give best views of aarti. If you happen to to be in Haridwar at the evening time then it's worth to attend this event of Aarti at least once. There are small eateries around the place where you can enjoy vegetarian food after the event. You even get some street snacks on the ghat.

One of the holiest pilgrimages in India, Haridwar, or the ‘gateway to gods’, is located where Ganga, the sacredest of all Indian rivers, enters the Indo-Gangetic plains. Located at the foothills of the Himalayas, Haridwar is a city of temples and ashrams and its pious ambience envelops everyone. Haridwar is one of the four holy Indian cities that host the Kumbh Mela, a pious gathering of millions of Hindu devotees every 12 years. The Ardh Kumbh is organised here every six years. It also hosts the Kanwar mela every year during the rainy season. The ‘Panch Tirth’ or the five pilgrimages located within the periphery of Haridwar, are Gangadwara (Har Ki Pauri), Kushwart (Ghat), Kankhal, Bilwa Tirtha (Mansa Devi Temple) and Neel Parvat (Chandi Devi). Haridwar serves as the gateway to the Char Dham of Uttarakhand as well. An ancient city, Haridwar's roots are steeped deep in culture and traditions of the ancient Vedic times, and there are several institutions here imparting traditional knowledge of wellness. If you want to know more and experience the ancient methods of healing, there are many certified Ayurvedic clinics in Haridwar that you can visit. Ashrams also offer sessions in Ayurveda, meditation and yoga. Every morning and evening, the ghats (stepped banks of a river) of River Ganga witnesses the blissful Ganga aarti, which attracts devotees and tourists. The evening ritual being more popular, it makes for a mesmeric sight to see the river being venerated with loud and rhythmic chants and tall lamps, their lights lightening up the darkening waters. It is a spectacular sight as thousands of small diyas (earthen lamps) are set afloat on the river.

One of the Tourist places in Haridwar is Har ki Pauri which basically means footsteps of the Lord. It is the holy ghat where river Ganges touches the plains after winding its ways through the Himalayan ranges.During the Ganga Aarati, it is mesmerising to watch the whole ghat getting illuminated by the shimmering lights of lamps of fire in the hands of the priestst. Additionally, devotees float diyas on the surface of the water giving tribute to the river Ganga. Visitors flock along this pious ghat around dawn to take a holy dip. I was there in the month of January and taken holy dip in Ice cold water. There is locker (cloak room) facility at the ghat to keep your belongings safely during holy dip. Overall, Har ki Pauri in Haridwar is best place to visit.

One of the seven holy cities of Hindu the place is truly pure and pious. The holy river Ganga flows through it and is the main tourist attraction. Apart from River Ganga the place is also believed to be of high religious importance because it is believed that during Samudra Manthan a few drops of Amrit was spilled here. Legendary king Bhagirath is believed to have brought the river Ganga from heaven to earth. Local legend states that Haridwar has been sanctified by the presence of three eternal Gods; Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh.

The highlight of my visit was witnessing the mesmerizing Ganga Aarti, a spiritual ceremony that takes place every evening at Har Ki Pauri. As the sun starts to set, the air fills with anticipation, and the ghat comes alive with devotees, priests, and the melodious chants of hymns. The sight of the flickering lamps, the rhythmic movements of the priests, and the collective devotion of the people create an ethereal atmosphere that is truly enchanting.

These ghats, along with others in Haridwar, offer a unique and spiritual experience to visitors. The atmosphere is filled with religious fervor and devotion, especially during festivals and important religious occasions. However, it is important to note that individual experiences may vary, and it is always advisable to respect the local customs, traditions, and guidelines while visiting any religious. Beautiful place to visit of Hindu people. Devotees gather here to take part in the evening Ganga Aarti, a mesmerizing ritual of worshiping the river with oil lamps and chants. Funtastic experience in my life during visit of Har har ki pauri🥰🥰🥰Har Har Mahadev 🥰🥰🥰🥰

Best place for family tour . But these days there are lots of crowd . And if you are going with family and children than must care for them because there too much crowd at haridwar & Har ki Pauri Ghat . Holidays are everywhere and Saturday , Sunday, are more crowd than other days so if you plan than plan for other days except Saturday and Sunday. And if have CNG vehicle than here in haridwar only one CNG pump and half kilometres lines of vehicle are so plan accordingly. But GANGA water is so chilled oyu will definitely enjoy there..👍👍

This place is undoubtedly famous, and significant improvements have been made compared to its past scenario. However, as a first-time visitor, you might have higher expectations. There have been notable enhancements, but there's still room for improvement. The water in the channel still contains debris, and the color of the water is not as pleasant as one would hope. Despite this, it remains a popular destination, and efforts are being made to enhance the overall experience.

Here while taking bath there are chains which helps to take bath as here flow of Ganga ji very rapid and dangerous. There are many shops and hotels which sells foods and other spritiual things at very nominal prices. Here parking is at owners risk and there are many temples near to this ghat...Thank you very much...🙂🙂🙂

Har ki pauri is a famous spiritual place in Haridwar and a must visit for anyone visiting Haridwar. Always crowded with devotees specially during festivities but the view from various ghats are worth your time. Most of the people visit this place for taking bath in Ganga river ganga snaan and to do rituals of their belief. Many beautiful big idols of god goddess can be seen here. Local shops are readily available near by to cater to devotees needs. Preferably go in the evening if you wish to also see the synchronised maha aarti poojan organised at the ghats.

Very crowded most of the time, especially during ganga aarti. Initiative from government has made ghat a very secure place for the devotees, railings have been added and chains are also there attached with the railings as well as from the bridges at every interval. A lot of great places to try food. All are of good quality. Nothing would disappoint you here. The market is also great, the ambience during evening is inexplicable.

Very clean place with very spiritual vibes. Very friendly atmosphere because of the systems that have been put in place by the temple authorities. Can go for a dip in Ganga or to just experience the vibes. The aarti is scheduled daily in morning and evening around 6:30 both the times. But these timings should vary depending upon the season you are visiting.

have visited Haridwar a number of times and I keep going back to experience the serenity of the holy river Ganges. Bathing in Ganges in Har ki Pauri brings in a sense of calmness within you. Sitting beside the river and watching the Ganga Aarti is a divine experience. When you are in Haridwar you must see the Aarti, make sure you reach the Ganga ghat well before time, around 4pm, to take a seat well in advance, else it becomes too crowded and it becomes difficult to see. Before the Ganga Aarti starts, the priests make people take pledge that they won't pollute the water, but old habits die hard, unfortunately there are n number of people who you can see using and throwing plastics/garbage around the place even though there are dustbins presents.

It is a significant landmark and a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Haridwar. The sheer magnificence of Har Ki Pauri leaves a lasting impression on all who visit. As you approach the ghat, the sight of the wide expanse of the holy Ganges River, flowing gently and reflecting the golden hues of the setting sun, fills you with a sense of awe and reverence. The harmonious blend of the flowing river, the sacred rituals, and the devotees congregating for worship creates an atmosphere that is both serene and charged with spiritual energy. The highlight of Har Ki Pauri is the evening Ganga Aarti, a captivating and mesmerizing ritual that takes place as dusk descends upon the city. The sight of the illuminated diyas floating on the river and the resonating hymns fill the air with a profound sense of spirituality. Witnessing this ethereal ceremony is a deeply moving experience that connects you to the sacredness of the Ganges and the rich cultural heritage of India. Har Ki Pauri also holds historical significance. It is believed to be the spot where Lord Vishnu left his footprint, making it an important pilgrimage site for Hindus. The ghat is adorned with numerous temples, each telling a story of its own and providing devotees with spaces for prayer and reflection. The most iconic landmark is the Brahmakund, a sacred bathing area where devotees immerse themselves in the purifying waters of the Ganges, seeking spiritual cleansing and redemption. The spiritual aura of Har Ki Pauri extends beyond the rituals and temples. The ghat is lined with bustling marketplaces, offering a vibrant shopping experience where you can find a wide array of religious artifacts, souvenirs, and traditional handicrafts. What a serene place to be at... Speciality of this place is ganga aarti. Ganga aarti happens at around 6.30 - 7 in evening. Reach early to get the best spot to witness the divine and soulful arti with a good view. There are many shops around to have snacks after the aarti. So find some good shops and make your tummy happy as well.

This is one of the beautiful and holly places. In normal days, the place used to be crowded. More effort and strict actions should take by authority/govt to maintain cleanliness. The video was recorded in 2018.

The term "Har Ki Pauri" translates to "Footsteps of God," and it lives up to its name. This sacred ghat on the banks of the Ganges River is believed to be the spot where Lord Vishnu left his footprint, making it a focal point for Hindu pilgrims. Visiting Har Ki Pauri is a surreal experience, especially during the Ganga Aarti, a captivating ritual where priests perform prayers with oil lamps, flowers, and incense, creating a mesmerizing ambiance. The aura is filled with devotion and spirituality, leaving visitors spellbound. The sight of devotees taking a holy dip in the sacred waters to cleanse their sins is both awe-inspiring and humbling. Apart from its religious significance, Har Ki Pauri boasts architectural marvels. The grandeur of the Ghat, with its ornate designs and intricate carvings, showcases the rich cultural heritage of India. The vibrant atmosphere, coupled with the chanting of hymns and the gentle flow of the Ganges, creates an unforgettable experience. In essence, Har Ki Pauri is not just a destination; it's a spiritual journey that leaves a lasting imprint on the soul. It epitomizes the essence of Hindu spirituality and is a must-visit for anyone seeking a deep connection with India's religious and cultural roots.

The sacred place is visited by pilgrims as well as tourists in large numbers throughout the year. The environment at Har Ki Pauri can not be put down through words or atleast I don't have enough arsenal in my vocabulary to do so! The current in the Ganges at this part is very fast...So even though chains have been provided to hold on to while taking bath, one should be very careful... Particularly because there's always enormous crowd and hence one may lose grip! The banks are dotted with many temples. During evening Arati the feeling is surreal. There are many hotels close to Har Ki Pauri. One gets a view of the Mansa Devi temple on one side and the distant Chandi Mata temple on the other from this place..Both temples are located on hill tops...Chandi Mata temple is at a higher altitude and a steeper climb. I do want to bring a few points to the attention of the authorities. The cleanliness of the adjoining areas including the roads leading to Har ki Pauri is just horrible. Crowd control measures have to be stepped up significantly. Any day some disaster can happen at this place. Infact if someone suddenly feels sick near the ghat or some health related mishap happens, it will be next to impossible to arrange timely treatment for the person. Many people in their old age want to visit this place but unless they are in very good physical condition, this will remain a dream for them in this life. Very tough for them to wade through the highly congested lanes by foot to reach here.

It is the centre of all the activities in haridwar. If you are here for the evening aarti, please go and take your seat by 5 pm, otherwise it becomes a difficult task to stand and see. The evening ganga arti is a must visit event. And do take a bath in the river as it is considered to very sacred. One can also conduct pooja here.

Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar is a sacred and mesmerizing place that holds immense significance in Hindu culture and spirituality. The experience of visiting Har Ki Pauri is truly awe-inspiring. The main attraction here is the ghat on the banks of the holy Ganges River. One can witness the captivating Ganga Aarti performed here, which is a spectacle of lights, incense, and rhythmic chants that create a surreal atmosphere. The spiritual energy and devotion during this ceremony are palpable, making it a must-see event for visitors. Apart from the religious aspect, the architectural beauty of Har Ki Pauri, with its ornate steps and grandiose entrance gate, is a sight to behold. The river itself is crystal clear and refreshing, making it a great place for a dip. While the crowds can get overwhelming, and the city can be chaotic, the experience of Har Ki Pauri is a unique blend of spiritual serenity and cultural vibrancy. It's a place that leaves a lasting impression on anyone who visits.

Great place for a holy dip, specially during October with less crowd and a warm sun. The water isn’t as cold as expected since the major melting happens in the summers. There are good food joints around and a good management. Stay away from the fraud Chanda gatherers.

The city is situated on the right bank of the Ganges river, at the foothills of the Shivalik ranges.[4] Haridwar is regarded as a holy place for Hindus, hosting important religious events and serving as a gateway to several prominent places of worship. Most significant of the events is the Kumbha Mela, which is celebrated every 12 years in Haridwar. During the Haridwar Kumbh Mela, millions of pilgrims, devotees, and tourists congregate in Haridwar to perform ritualistic bathing on the banks of the Ganges to wash away their sins to attain moksha.

The Ganga aarti should not be missed as it is one of the best experience you will have here... You are not allowed to wear shoes on "Har ki Pauri " ghat , you have an option to keep your shoes at the entrance which is free... As during the aarti it gets much crowded so look after your belongings... The ghat is well maintained and neat..also during the aarti the bridge is closed ... The timing for the morning aarti is around 5:30 am and evening aarti is around 5:45pm .... The time may vary depending on the sunrise and sunset.

Your guide to Haridwar! Har Ki Pauri Ghat Experience: I bet you're a travelholic like me (or at least, aspiring to be one) so here's your very own guide to the city named as the 'Gateway to Gods'. Places to Visit- 1. Har ki Pauri Ghat 2. Mansa Devi Temple 3. Chandi Devi Temple 4. Swami Vivekananda Park Things to do (with timings and other details)- 1. Ganga Aarti at Ganga Ghat - Aarti starts in between 5:30 pm and 6 pm. I suggest you should reach the ghat by 5 pm to get the right seating place and to see prior rituals conducted by pandits 2. Ganga Snan- At the ghat there is proper arrangement of changing the clothes so you don't have to worry about a thing 3. For the tummy- Near the Ganga ghat you can find lot of authentic food places so go bananas! 4. Shopping- The many affordable items a tourist can buy from Haridwar is pooja items (and more), which is near to important temples and main bazaars I was so happy to see the development of the roads, cleaning and good hotels to stay at Haridwar Don't miss out on a single opportunity to go visit Haridwar!

Too much crowd here, almost 30 days a month. Very cheap restaurants nearby with pathetic food choices. It’s better to take bath in nearby ghats which are much cleaner & less crowded. But the Ganga Arti in the evening is awesome.

I just love how everyone peacefully sits before arti and enjoy the pleasant vibe. However it gets so crowded after it ends and everyone is running that it causes stampede sometimes. It is always crowded, although ladies Changing rooms have been improved from the last time I visited here. I would definitely recommend everyone to wait even after arti ends so the crowd clears and you can go back home. The rickshaws and autos are available everywhere so no travel issue, but you may find it difficult to find one as around 3 km from the ghaat they dont allow e-riskhaws so make sure you find the rishshaw or you need to walk for 3-4km till the barricade.
