An
ex
co-worker
and
I
went
to
Smith
&
Kings
to
talk
about
our
common
interests
in
IT,
guitars
and
travel.
It
was
just
after
noon
on
a
Friday
so
I
was
somewhat
surprised
to
find
the
place
almost
empty
of
diners.
My
lunch
mates
and
I
used
to
frequent
this
spot
because
the
food
was
good
(especially
the
foie
gras
burger)
and
the
location
unbeatable
(across
the
street
from
our
offices).
We
stopped
coming
because
the
place
wasn’t
open
on
a
consistent
basis
for
lunch
…
a
victim
of
the
pandemic,
we
believe.
I
ordered
a
Hendricks
gin
and
tonic
($11)
and
the
chicken
and
waffles
($16)
while
my
tablemate
opted
for
the
chicken
club
($18).
The
food
came
in
short
order
and
we
each
enjoyed
our
meal
while
discussing
guitar
stores
in
Tokyo.
My
plate
contained
two
chicken
strips
and
a
Belgian
waffle
cut
into
quarters,
served
with
a
small
container
of
maple
syrup;
a
perfectly
sized
portion
for
lunch
(for
me).
The
chicken
club
came
in
a
bun
with
lettuce,
tomato
…
more
like
a
fried
chicken
"burger"
than
a
club
sandwich.
It
was
served
with
a
side
of
fries.
I
enjoyed
my
chicken
and
waffles;
a
crisp
waffle
is
a
must
for
me
and
Smith
&
Kings
delivered.
I
believe
my
tablemate
enjoyed
his
sandwich.
The
prices
are
reasonable
and
the
location
remains
a
plus.
$11
for
a
Hendricks
&
tonic
is
a
value
play
in
this
age.
Recommended.
