*** COZY, COOL, TASTY, HISTORIC*** Eat here for some great, simple eats in China Town. This humble Mexican restaurant is located in a historic buiding that survived the great Honolulu fire of Dec. 12, 1899. The menu is super-simple with little variety. Basically it comea down to tacos, burritos or bowls. Food is artistically and beautifully prepared, and served hot. 5 of 5 stars for the taste. The employees are friendly and welcoming. There's an outdoor seating gallery that connects a few restaurants to the left and right. I highly recommend trying this place! Hit the HELPFUL button if this was beneficial for you. Thanks, Brian Hargis Google Guide

We stumbled upon this place while we were restaurant/bar hopping. And for a couple of mezcal lovers, this was a dream to find! We started with cocktails- a beautifully balanced drink with tequila, mezcal, Aperol, avocado pit orgeat (so creative!!), and likely some citrus. I forget the name. For food we tried a Pork Carnitas Taco, a Carne Asado Taco, Chips & Guac & Salsa, and Street Corn. All the food was amazing- well seasoned and great flavor combination. The chips definitely taste like they make them in house. After that, we loaded up on some mezcals to try. They had a pretty solid selection- some that you can find more commonly (such as Bozal, Alipus, and the Del Maguey lineup) and some that I hadn’t heard of yet that were super tasty! They served their mezcals traditionally with orange slices and Sal de Gusano (worm salt!). I do wish their mezcals were served in those clay Copitas to really hone in on the tradition even more! Service was great. The bartender helped us out a bunch and answered our millions of questions. I know when visiting Hawaii, your go to is probably tiki drinks, but branch out and go check out this mezcaleria. You won’t be disappointed!

Great burritos, tacos, and nachos. Service was good and plenty of seating. Typical China Town parking...Beer selection was small,, but ok.. A must try.

Love the drinks, atmosphere, and service, but the new bbq-style menu leaves a lot to be desired from the days of 3-4$ tacos and amazing carne asada. 21$ for two tortillas, a chunk of barely seasoned brisket, some cheese, onions, and thick green salsa that will only fill one of the tortillas left me pretty disappointed. Not sure what the motivation for the change was, but I'll have to seek my happy hour tacos elsewhere in town.

The best place I've found for tacos on the leeward side. Good pricing and on Tuesday they have a couple of specials. Frequently featuring live music. Great place to go for lunch or late night.

What bad can honestly be said about this place? Could you say the ambience is whack? I would say definitely not! It has a Portland bar kind of vibe which is interesting to find here on Oahu. Music was perfect mixing up some local radio tunes with a mix of other great tunes. Didn't hear one bad song! Could you say the service sucked? Not from our experience! We absolutely loved our bartender (Clarissa) and the bar back was Johnny on the spot when it came to bringing us our food and clearing our plates and empty glasses. Our bartender always had an eye on our beers, checking in at the perfect time to refill us. Could you say the food was garbage? I surely would disagree! I tried 5x of their tacos and every single one was absolutely delicious jam packed with flavor!! The deconstructed elote aka Mexican corn was bomb.com! Saw a couple next to us that got the corn and chips w/guacamole and used chips for the corn too. Touche neighbor and great thinking. Saving that trick for our next visit. We have tried to find GOOD tasting Mexican on the island since moving here in April and this is the 2nd place we've found w/ Taqueria La Marea being the other and a MUST TRY if you have not yet! Just beware of the lack of hours/days they are open. Is pricing your issue? Not when it comes to drinks! A pitcher of Pacifico for $11?! Yes please! Tecate can for $4? Don't mind if I get 2x! And the food pricing? ALL reasonably priced especially considering its in Chinatown. $3.50 for a street taco is decent considering how dang tasty it is! The bowl of Mexican corn was deceiving or maybe after the 5th taco I was just that full? I typically share pix of our food but my phone died right when we got seated. They are 110% doing VAX checks and masks are required to enter and while not eating/drinking. No complaints here about them enforcing that. Parking may be the only thing you could complain about just because they are in Chinatown so street parking is your option. That or biking there or something. Anyways we will 110% be back to grub and are telling all of our friends about this place!

Sweetest bartender. The mushroom taco is good but the barbacoa is unreal. The salsa roja has perfect heat and the margaritas tasty. Taco Tuesday is alive in Chinatown Honolulu!

Pretty good food and a decent house margarita. The Tree Hunger plate was good. Edit: recently changed their menu. Compare for yourself in the pictures.

Husband and I really enjoyed our lunch here! We each had a baja fish taco that we both devoured. We also shared a portion of nachos with carne asada as well as a bowl of the street corn and those two were similarly tasty. We split a Chris Kattan cocktail between us both and it was both pretty and delicious. Service was especially kind and thoughtful. Highly recommend and would come back in the future!

Both times I’ve been here, it has been a beautiful experience. The service and the food is absolutely incredible! I really enjoyed my mahi-mahi bowl with the house margarita (: I will for sure be coming back here with my boyfriend to try out their tequila flight (: Mahalo for great service ❤️

Awesome lunch tacos I highly recommend the burrito bowls can’t go wrong with either the Baja fish or Carne Asada bowl. My Office eats out here at least once a week. Service is good food is prompt and always delicious

Good professional servers with fairly priced great food / cocktails in a historic location. The only thing mo’betta would be to move the tv monitor away from such a lovely back bar layout. (Let the Olive Garden etc have the sports theme…plus seemed to be providing the staff greater entertainment than the patrons)

Tried their taco tuesday. The stars are for ambiance amd friendliness. The staff is super nice. The place is lively. Drinks tasty but bartenders stingy with their pour. However if I could rate their tacos only, I'd say maybe a 3 would be pushing it. I got the ground beef taco and the meat is subpar, the seasoning is nothing to brag about. I also tried the battered fish taco. The worst experience. The fish was old and smelly. It had lost its consistency even. I think they figured if it's battered and fried people would not notice. But Gordon would have thrown the fish on the garbage. Still 4* for restaurant since they have a lot of other food I didn't try.

Amazing food, all of the tacos and the meat was delicious. Our waiter offered up fantastic drink recommendations and suggestions throughout the evening and was even very kind with our toddler. I wish I had caught our waiter's name. Anyway, fantastic evening, thank you!!

Food was overpriced and mediocre. Tacos are 6 dollars now. Tortillas are not made in house. For the price I’d expect some really good tacos with homemade tortillas , friendlier staff, expensive rent or something to justify the cost. Maybe the drinks are good?

This place felt soooooo comfortable. The tacos were ALL out of this world! Barbacoa, carnitas & Baja fish tacos were our favorite. I loved the design & the style of the place. A hidden gem of Honolulu!
