Remember when you applied for college and made sure to pick one ‘safety school.’ For me, in this neighborhood, Belly is my safety restaurant. More predictable hours than Opal Thai, more likely to get a table than at Pig and the Lady, and a bit more refined than a few other choices within a stones throw. Some things to like: comfortable ambience, solid portions and friendly staff. Their appetizers are also a bright spot. Recommend sharing those and splitting an entree.

Quaint and friendly restaurant offering appetizing bites including smoked octopus and duck tacos. The ramen bowls are rich in flavor without being overly salty or skimping on ingredients. The fungi (mushroom) one was balanced and satisfying. Cocktails were a bit mild in flavor but tasty. Fun vibe. Reservations recommended due to limited seating.

went for dine in after they reopened from covid. everything was good except for a big roach that ran across our table. the wait staff killed it but left it. we had to ask another person on the wait staff to pick up the dead, smashed roach. we were told by our server that our drinks would be comped as a result. we received the bill and noticed the drinks were not comped but didn't say anything. we are a bit disappointed with how the whole situation was handles. more importantly, it would have been better to not tell us our drinks were going to be taken care of if there was no intention of following through. food and drinks were fine but this experience was unacceptable.

It took forever to get a reservation here and so i was finally thrilled to get in there to try it out. I gotta say i think it was more hype for me so my expectations were super high. We tried the smoked octopus and duck tacos as apps. They were pretty good although i wish the tacos had a heavier hitting duck flavor. It kind of got lost. The smoked octopus was good and cooked well. As for the soups, we got the beast and the belly bowl. The beast i highly recommend if you love oxtail. It was super savory. As for the belly bowl, everything was melt in your mouth good. The broths overall are very soothing and recommend that. Keep in mind all apps come in 3 pieces except for the duck tacos. Overall, I’m pretty happy with the experience but I’m not dying to go back super soon.

OMG BEST PLACE IN OAHU HANDS DOWN! My boyfriend and I have just finished our 7 days trip to Oahu, and and hands down, this was the best food we had our whole trip. GET THE CRISPY DUCK TACOS! It’ll change your life! We also shared the Beast Ramen bowl (it’s a VERY large bowl, so sharing is encouraged). The guy working at the bar is seriously so knowledgeable, kind, and a great guy overall. The vibes and food were on point. Make sure you go!

Shared a bunch of apps between 4 and each had an entree. It wasn’t as great as I remember, lamb was a bit over sauced, duck tacos were tasty but also saucy and fried overpowered the duck, and the ramen broth was very salty. Full fish special was delicious. A fine meal but not amazing.

Lucky Belly is a cozy restaurant with a great vibe. Love that it's not too crowded, which allows for space for conversations and separation for COVID. The hostess, Kelsey, was super friendly and offered great local tips. Our server, Ana, was very engaging, offered great menu recommendations, and was very attentive the entire time. Now, let's talk about the drinks and food! I highly recommend ordering the box sake. They pour the light sake into a shot glass overflowing into a box; this is to represent an overflowing abundance of gratitude. We also ordered the shrimp gyoza, red snapper plate (extremely tasty!), and shrimp kimchi ramen for dinner, which we recommend all of them. For dessert, it was the most creative and light creation, made to look like a bonsai. I highly recommend Lucky Belly! Exceptional dining experience...

The staff truly cares about your experience. The food is absolutely amazing – everything we tasted melted in other mouths. Considering the quality, the price is reasonable. Highly recommended.

Amazing service. So kind and so helpful. The multiple appetizers plate was amazing. The noodles were to die for and the bar staff was extremely knowledgeable about sake. Awesome experience. I recommend this place to my friends.

We went to Lucky Belly for dinner before the Nā Leo Christmas concert ... nice decor, friendly staff ... My sist and each had Beast Bowl, and my mother-in-law had the steamed opakapaka. The ramen was awesome! Very filling, great taste all around!

Definitely get the appetizer sampler plate and the duck tacos. Everything was to die for. The mocktails were also superb

I can't decide on a favorite... Crispy tacos, bao buns, short rib dumplings... Argh! Everything is so gooooood!

  • 4/5 Hallie E. 2 years ago on Google
Great service, even better food. Would recommend getting the sohomare carafe sake as well. The lucky bowl ramen had a great miso base and really made my belly happy. The duck tacos were pretty good, but were kind of hard to eat with the crispy chip shell. The pork bao was delicious and had a nice touch of cilantro. Be sure to wear a light jacket as it is a bit chilly inside from the A/C.

Delicious and fresh take on traditional starters. Outstanding ramen and melting in mouth pork shank. Very good selection of moctails.

Hands down, best ramen I have had! But what really made it better, were the incredible people I got to meet who were running the restaurant. Jason, Leslie, and all the staff were very nice and welcoming! Jason was very knowledgeable and passionate about the dishes on the menu, but was also very considerate and more than happy to help if any question I had sprung up! I would recommend and go again in a heart beat! Also, did I mention the tacos? They were absolutely sensational!

All was just amazing. The food was exceptional. We had pork belly bun - mind blowing; duck tacos - amazing, smoked octopus and a special - fish. Everything is super fresh and well prepared. The service is exceptional. Neighborhood cool with plenty of bars around to go after. Highly recommending

Had to make a reservation two weeks in advance, and let me tell you, it was worth it. Everything was just amazing! For drinks my wife had the Desert Flower & I had the Maui Brewing seasonal beer(which was a sour). Then for food, we started with the Dim Sum Trio(lobster shumai, pork belly bao, and duck tacos). It was so good. Then my wife ordered more duck tacos, because they were so good! Then to have more, I had the Bi Bim Bap, which was the best I've ever had. My wife ordered the Beast Bowl & enjoyed it. Couldn't finish it, it was such a big portion. Service was excellent, as Leslie was a fantastic server, and worked the entire dining room by herself. Parking was sketchy, but there are a couple of paid lots within 1-2 blocks. Mahalo & enjoy!

I really, REALLY enjoyed my meal here! Saw this recommended on a food blog and was really surprised how much I liked everything. For drinks, we ordered the Midorikawa and Bean-to cocktails, in addition to the Chinatown Swizzler (soft-drink). Both cocktails were well crafted. The Chinatown Swizzler was sweet and refreshing and served as a very nice dessert to our heavy meal. For appetizers, we ordered the pork belly baos and the crispy duck tacos. Both were tasty, but the belly baos were especially good. For our ramen entrees, we ordered a Belly Bowl (sausage, belly, and bacon) and a Beast Bowl (brisket, short ribs and oxtail wontons). The broth was very flavorful with generous toppings of wakame which we love. All the meats were good but we were really blown away by the oxtail wontons - they were really, REALLY good!!! Service was great with everyone who helped us. Highly, highly recommend!

The appetizers were simply amazing. The single best bite I have had in Honolulu was of their lobster shumai. The mushroom ramen's broth was not authentic Japanese but very "mushroomy". The wakame in both ramens we had was exceptionally fresh and had a distinct ocean flavor lacking in rehydrated wakame. The Lucky Bowl ramen was authentic in most respects, with regards to Japanese ingredients. The broth was heavily dashi based and was packed with flavor. I would recommend this over the mushroom ramen (Fungi Ramen). Overall the quality for all dishes was exceptional, especially the appetizers. I would definitely come here again.

  • 4/5 Susie K. 1 year ago on Google
Cozy ambiance, duck tacos are the number one item if I were to choose only one thing to order. The bellies in baos are super juicy and it goes well with cilantros. We also liked the dumplings; soft and juicy. We were a bit disappointed by the ramen, as we heard ramen is what they are known for. Lack of flavors in broth was overtaken by toppings. Ingredients in the bowl didn’t mix well. The portion is not big but it’s plain that we lost interests in the middle of the bowl. Miso braised shank was worth the money. Looking at it, I wasnt sure why porridge was $26. The size of the shank is humongous! The braised meat is sooooo soft and flavorful. Porridge was just a helper! I loved all their dish that relied on flavors from meat. I don’t recommend the ramen though. Service staff was attentive and fast.

  • 4/5 Michael Y. 1 year ago on Google
Ramen was good, wasn't able to try out any of the appetizers because a lot of them were out for some reason. The fungi bowl is nice and light while the beast bowl had a nice flavour punch to it. However, the wontons were slightly undercooked due to the thickness of the wrappers. I also wish this place was in a better location. Chinatown is super sketchy.

Some of the best ramen on oahu. Made fresh, huge portions, great prices, and excellent service. Small menu, but the specials were really good, and you really can't go wrong with any of the choices. Appreciate them being open laster than most places also so you can usually always get a table. Nice bar and drink selections also. Highly recommended.

Located in Chinatown, we were blown away by the food! Our server was friendly and super attentive - made sure our entire experience was special. Great variety of food choices, including appetizers and ramen too. We live in FL and I still ask my husband to fly back just to eat here! *sorry for knocking over my table with the glasses on it on the way out*

Went here on a Monday night and it was pretty slow, which perplexed me because the food was fantastic here. The service was friendly and welcoming. The menu is adventurous and exciting which I like to see.

I got the beast bowl ramen. It was large portion and had to take the rest to go. Food is good but I wish there were more options on the menu. Atmosphere was too loud. I couldn't hear the person talking two people away from me.

Great ramen restaurant in Waikiki! Pleasant staff and good service make Lucky Belly a must for ramen fans. Parking may be difficult to come by, but there’s a parking lot nearby with decent rates. Overall Lucky Belly wasn’t too busy, had amazing food, and really hit the spot for ramen!

This place is amazing appetizers are off the roof with the taste.....the steak bento is a must and the belly ramen is so flavorful.....portions are great....if you are hungry then you can finish it....

Good food, nice decor. The food is a little on the pricey side, but just one of their dishes is capable of being a full meal. It's not a bad value. The duck tacos were awesome.

  • 4/5 D. D. 3 years ago on Google
Nice little place on the corner so a little waite. Feels cozy with dim lighting. I did not like the wooded blocks to sit on with no back support or cushion... Makes you want to eat and leave. Food was ok, but was not impressed with the Ramen. Service was very curtious and attentive. Prices were not bad for China town and Parking is scarce on the street, so hit the parking garage and walk a block.

Great food w/ a killer vibe, we always have a blast @ Lucky Belly. Highly reco the Lobster Shumai, Wafu Steak & Fungi Ramen (pictured). Presentation on the Go Crazy cocktail (also pictured) was fun as well (it arrives smoking). Most importantly, this staff is fun, friendly & attentive even when busy. Rezzies recommended.

Good place for ramen. The appetizers are good too but pricey. Kids menu is limited but they gave us fried chicken for just $3 more. Make sure to reserve online.

10th October Dinner Strong sewer smell when we walked in. .... All 3 of us picked that up .... I feel that this restaurant is not quite Covid ready : they use the same menu booklet ( not disposable menu), no sanitizer in the restaurant, and our server poured water into our glasses holding our glasses ( I have seen some restaurants have their staff put on gloves as a restaurant guild line) The ramen is mediocre considered the price they were $20+ each ... Total bill before tips $109 Staff members came to ask how the food was almost immediately ... some pacing will be nice and I am sure we could give a better feedback given a chance to taste it...feeling rushed is not a good in a restaurant Generally the experience is just so so ...

Great restaurant! Good atmosphere. Fairly small. We had a reservation and still had to wait a bit to be seated. The food was delicious. Little bit on the expensive side but worth it. Drinks are small, probably not worth the price.

SO. GOOD. I wish this restaurant could follow me around in life so I could eat their incredible food all the time. So so so good. The flavors were rich and perfect and the dishes also had a lightness to them... if that makes sense. I’d eat there weekly if I could!

  • 5/5 Erika A. 4 years ago on Google
Been here twice and this place never disappoints me. The ramen was delicious and the salmon needed a bit more flavor but that lobster loco moco, I think that’s what it’s called, it is a must try here. The service is good and fast and the hibiscus lemonade was delicious.

  • 5/5 Todd E. 4 years ago on Google
Absolutely love the ramen at the Lucky Belly!! They have some really great Sake as well! This was my second visit and the only thing negative I can say is that the service is a little slow. We were there for over an hour because they can only make so much ramen at once. Outside of that, the beast bowl is freakin amazing! Go for it!

  • 4/5 Clement H. 4 years ago on Google
Had the lobster Moco here which was a pretty unique twist on loco Moco and quite delicious. However, the highlight of the. Ight was definitely the oxtail dumplings. It was juicy and rich, and full of flavor.
