Update as of Sep-22: Google map says dine-in is open, but they’re actually not open for dine-in yet. Still take out only. Every dish we ordered was tasty, but the portion could be a little bigger. Perhaps it’s served as traditional Japanese portion which is somewhat less than the US standard.

This place might have the best cost to quality ratio for Japanese food on the island. Most options are under $15 and everything I’ve had is fresh and tasty. Personal favorites are the special bento (sells out early!), the chirashi / seafood don, and the fried chicken. Service is friendly. Order ahead as it’s a small place and big orders may take a while.

I unfortunately ordered delivery from Do-Ne; they screwed it up. They were late by more than 30 minutes despite me pre-ordering it. The first courier cancelled after waiting for so long. The second courier also had to wait awhile. Also I think they got the Japanese style omelette wrong. $8.50 for a plain, simple, basic two-egg omelette? This did not look like the Japanese style omelettes I’ve seen in other Google postings. If it wasn’t a mistake, it’s totally not worth it. The squid legs are tiny and the portion is small for $8.25. It’s not as bad as the omelette, but I wouldn’t order it again. On the other hand, the katsu-don bento was good and tasty. I’d order this again, as long as they don’t take forever to prepare it. At $13.50 it’s much more reasonable than the other two dishes above. I’ll post some photos (I ate a couple of pieces from each dish since I was starving)

So much attention to detail in their food presentation. The food is good too. They say you first eat with your eyes, but in my case the camera gets first bite

Only takeout here, no dine in. Owner was really nice and helpful. Loved the fish and eel bentos! Wasn’t even that hungry and we ended up finishing both. Adorable little place. Would highly recommend!

An amazing little gem of a hole-in-the-wall type place. Authentic Japanese teshoku; the staff here were so friendly and the food was amazing. Made with tender love and care and offered at an excellent value point. Would visit here everyday if I could have =)! Highly recommend if you're in the area. There are only a few tables inside and a couple chairs to wait at outside. Their opening hours are limited, but definitely worth it. Staff are Japanese and so humble and genuine.

Katsu plate was really good, the special combo plate is a bunch of relatively basic items, so I personally wouldn't recommend, but it can be fun to try a bunch of things. Pumpkin tempura unfortunately loose its crunch but still very tasty, fried mackerel breading and flavor was great, potato salad was also very enjoyable and I loved the addition of apples inside. The lady behind the counter was very nice and we appreciated how helpful she was. If I wasn't a tourist, I would order from here fairly often I think.

We ordered takeout and the presentation was great! Everything is neat and orderly in the bag. The food is very high quality. I got the shrimp and oyster which was a special for the week. It retained its crunch and the flavor was perfect. My partner got the tuna-don and the fish was very fresh! Amazing experience!

Do-ne is a small and cozy restaurant located just 10 minutes on foot from the convention center. If you're looking for quality teishoku away from the usual tourist hotspots, this is the place. The unagi-don was delicious and the sides complimented the main dish very well. The food and excellent service combined provided the authentic experience I was looking for. I will definitely have to come back on my next trip to Oahu. Please note: the seating is limited (I counted 18 seats total) so expect to wait if you're hitting peak lunch/dinner hours. A clipboard with the waitlist is posted on the front door but is checked often. Do your best to get there early!

Do-ne is a fantastic authentic Japanese bento spot. I have a high standard for Japanese cuisine and I've had two meals here with my wife and we were both very satisfied. There's a parking lot at the back of the store.

Small place, would recommend making reservations. I just came back from Japan and the food here is spot on! Get the fried chicken specialty!
