Had dinner tonight with a party of 13. Everything we had was impeccable, including the service which right is very hard to find. We will definitely be coming here again. Highlights were the French Onion Soup, veggie board, scallop appetizer and entrée, tasting menus and Blueberry bread pudding. Oo and coffee drinks were all delicious!

The world food travelers stopped in at Tango Contemporary Café as yours truly hadn’t been there for dinner, just lunch. We were seated at a tiny table but luckily for us there was a cancellation so we were moved to a table for four. It was fortuitous because we ordered two appetizers and salad; there was no way the dishes would have fit on the original table. The wine book had a QR code for additional wines but it turned out to be misleading as the more current source was the book. We ordered a 2019 Duckhorn Three Palms Vineyard Merlot for $159; very reasonable as the bottle sells for $115 in the store. It was dark red with dark fruit and chocolate. First up; slices of bread was served with a pesto dipping sauce. Our appetizers were the Foie Gras and the Sautéed Escargot. The foie gras came on a toasted slice of brioche with a strawberry gastrique. The presentation of the escargot was interesting … They came in a square cast iron pan with a brown sauce with pieces of mushroom and garlic. On the side were three thin slices of toast. We followed the appetizers with the red and golden beet salad; they served the salad on two plates (thank you!). Instead of cubes, the beets were sliced and served over greens with labneh (strained yogurt) and a raspberry vinaigrette. It was very refreshing. Our entrées were the Slow Roasted Rack of Lamb and the Duck Confit. The presentation of each was excellent … three ribs of lamb were arranged over pieces of roasted potato with a Yuzu Kosho Demi glace; the duck was served with a pea and artichoke ragout and garlic Broccolini. The lamb was delicious as was the duck. I would have liked some kind of sauce for the duck but I appreciated the crispy skin; unexpected for duck confit. We ended with two desserts … Kona Coffee Ice cream cake and Affogato di Gelato. The ice cream cake was served as a slice … Layers of coffee and vanilla and Italian Chocolate ice cream atop a layer of chiffon cake. The Affogato was properly presented … A glass of vanilla bean ice cream and a cup of espresso. Visual and taste delights! The restaurant was very busy but service was fine; Ashley was our server and she was assisted by another (unnamed). We enjoyed the wine and food; all reasonably priced. Recommended!

(Translated by Google) If you come to Hawaii, you'll definitely want to eat [Egg Benedict]. The best among them is here. We were craving dessert and this place delivered! We got bread pudding, ice cream and an iced espresso. We were totally satisfied with everything. The cinnamon ice cream went wonderfully with their bread pudding! And ume guava sorbet is a new favorite flavor! Tami was so friendly and helpful, even though we were only getting dessert to go. Can't say enough about our experience! We will definitely be back even though we don't live near by.

This was a first visit so may not be representative of Tango's Zagat rating. The egg's benedict (Florentine) was light and the foccata toast added a light crunch which was a nice surprise. The eggs were poached perfectly but the potatoes were burnt and chewy. The Hollandaise sauce seemed watery and didn't have much flavor and the spinach over powered the eggs. The coffee was lukewarm and weak by European standards. One of our party had the crab hash benedict and, while he could taste the crab, the overall assessment was the same relative lack of taste. The Swedish pancakes and gravelach were presented beautifully (just like the web photos). Two of our party ordered hot chocolate and a caramel latte.....both also somewhat bland. Nrw cook? Off day? We will need to try again.

The service was pretty good. Our waiter was nice. However, the food was pretty bad to be honest. The best thing they had that I tried was the burger (which just tasted like a standard burger to be honest). The open face shrimp sandwich was a mayonnaise soup and the beet salad had nothing special. It was a standard green salad with a couple beets in it. The best thing (other than the service) was their homemade ketchup. I would not go here. Only redeeming factor was the price wasn’t too bad. $1-2 more though and it’s overpriced.

Lunch time is very crowded. If you are having a group of 4-5 (or higher if our next tier opens) best to make reservations. Food is good for lunch...mostly choices from salads, sandwiches and burgers with some entrees. Cost is at medium range.

Food was decent. Service was probably the worst I've ever had. Found a hair in my dish and called over the server. He picked up the dish, didn't apologize and went swiftly to the kitchen. He comes back with the same dish, just with the hair removed and stated that the hair being there wasn't possible, essentially implying that I put the hair inside myself. Then he asked me what I wanted in a condescending tone. I told him to comp the dish, which I feel isn't even asking for too much at this point. At the end, he only compensated for half the dish price. I would highly recommend that the staff at this establishment go through another training session on dealing with customers. This kind of behavior is unacceptable in the dining and service industry.

Unexpectedly delicious eggs Florentine. Perfect hollandaise! Fresh, flavorful ingredients. Homemade berry compote was spectacular! I even enjoyed their perfectly made crispy/soft English muffins. The flavor turned a somewhat ordinary breakfast into a delicious, memorable start to the new day!

I chose this place because of nice array of lunch options as I was in the area for another activity. We were seated and was told that they only offered "Brunch Menu/Items." I was really sad. We ordered Banana Pancakes for my daughter and and Burgers for the adults. There are no french fries to be ordered on Sundays. I will say I'll come here just to eat their pancakes. They are phenomenal! They are so big and fluffy and so tasty! HIGHLY recommend them. Burger was fine--the meat was a bit dry though. They dont have "ketchup" they have this cinnamon/ketchup dipping sauce. Wasn't too keen on the cinnamon for my burger to be quite frank. The decor in the restaurant was nice. Waiter was prompt and friendly. You do have to either Valet or park in the parking deck to dine at this place-FYI. I'd go back again if in the area.

3 stars because it’s not my preferred location, but my GF likes going for the Shrimp Risotto. I usually always get the Traditional Benedict, cause there doesn’t seem to be much else I’d care for. They’re good, but I’d rather have the English Muffin bottom instead of their baked bread. Parking is pretty good, it’s in the same building right behind the restaurant. I’ve only gone on weekends and it’s always been free.

It was my first visit here and we are from the pre-fixe menu. They had standard first course choices, soup or salad, which were both simple but delicious. Three choices for the main course, salmon, pasta, or beef. The beef was exceptional and melted in my mouth. It was completed with a wonderful polenta that soaked up the beef flavor. For dessert, I could choose from mango crumble with cinnamon gelato or blueberry bread pudding. The crumble was the better choice. Overall, excellent good and attentive service!

I discovered Tango over ten years ago and it's still one of my favorite spots for breakfast or brunch in Honolulu! Reasonably priced, great service, consistent cuisine and most importantly, AMAZING coffee! They have a special coffee machine that makes the most wonderful cups of morning magic that put the drinks to shame at all other brekkie joints. Here are my go-to recommendations: -Swedish pancakes: I don't know anywhere else on the island that serves these, but they're small circular pancakes topped with fruit, jam and whipped creak. I love them because of their texture and I don't feel overly stuffed after eating them. -Eggs benedict: Tango offers several kinds from traditional to gravlax to crab. Gravlax is my favorite, but if salmon isn't your thing, I recommend getting a mix of two so you can try more flavors. -Corned beef hash & eggs with rice: When I'm feeling exceptionally skinny, I ruin all my healthy habits with this breakfast feast. It reminds me of the childhood breakfasts at home with my Dad. -Oatmeal with fruit: Ugh I know, I'm such a buzz kill. But on the days when I'm not feeling exceptionally skinny and am starting to grow a beer belly, I reel it all in with a nice bowl of oatmeal and fruit. It's simple but it really hits the spot! A breakfast at Tango will run you anywhere from $10-$18 depending on what you order but it's always worth it and very reasonable. Be sure to get there before 9:45am however because they shut down the kitchen to clean up and start prepping for lunch service which begins at 11am. On Sundays they serve breakfast and brunch all day!

Enjoyed the corned beef hash and house coffee this visit. Nice atmosphere. Great spot for a couple to enjoy brunch on the weekend. No wait at 9 am. Eggs were slightly overcooked, which the staff offered to correct. Excellent service; will be back.

11:15am..sunday. 12 minute wait, got quickly served my drink, the passion fruit ice tea. It's pretty good. Then walied another 10 minutes for someone to take my order. They did say they were short staffed. It's the weekend so it a BRunch menu. I was hoping to try the salmon board, but I'll have to settle for the duck confit hash. It tasted good, but $20 for maybe 3 Oz of duck, chopped french fries and 2 eggs...not great value. Heck, I'm still hungry.

We met friends for dinner, and we had a wonderful time! Service was excellent. I had their Arare crusted scallops, which was one of the best meals I have ever eaten. A five star meal! My husband had the beef stroganoff which he said was excellent. We're repeat customers, and l.o.v.e. this restaurant!

Quite frankly one of the top 3 places I’ve eaten in my life. Food was delicious and presentation was extremely professional. I don’t usually leave reviews but was so blown away with my meal that I had to. I had the Asian 5 spice braised beef I believe, and recommend to anyone.

I'm giving a 5 for something other than the food...COFFEE. I never imagined I'd have a hard time finding a cup of coffee on Oahu. Thank goodness for this lifesaving cup of elixir. This picture is coffee, not cappuccino. I saw the cappuccino co.e out and that looked heavenly too. I drove 20 mins out of my way for this cup this morning after throwing another away at the farmers market. Did I mention the breeze and outdoor seating? So grateful!

This place is incredible and unique. The food was amazing and very different then anything we have found on the island. The duck I had was cooked beautifully and even their bread and homemade pesto that you get when you sit was great. The atmosphere was quaint but calming and inviting. And the service was perfect. Very attentive and helpful. We will definitely be coming back to see what brunch has to offer!

  • 5/5 Randall W. 6 months ago on Google
First of all, the service is amazing. They remembered us from 2 months prior. Even remembered what we ordered! Friendly staff, great quiet atmosphere without being rushed. My wife and son loves their risotto. I love the braised lamb (to die for!!!), my kids love the escargot so we have to get 2 orders of that. Very accommodating for my mother who's in a wheelchair. This is one of our favorite places to eat.

  • 5/5 Nadine W. 5 months ago on Google
Had brunch here and enjoyed it. I had the pastry basket I will see in the past the pastries were or appeared to be very soft and today maybe they were just baked a little too long. The atmosphere here is always upbeat and very pleasant. My guest had eggs benedict and enjoyed it very much. Have been going here for many years and plan to continue to do so.

They offer lots of coffee drinks, but also Italian sodas and cocktails. I was impressed by the espresso drink that I ordered and the accompaniment options (soy milk and lots of sweetener options). The brunch menu is extensive and has a great variation. Everything that we had at the table was delicious. I loved french onion soup and also the Mushroom frittata! Highly recommend

I ate here for breakfast and was a little disappointed. The reviews are very positive, but after eating here i realized that the positive reviews must come from the older folks who love this style of food. Tango just didn't meet the expectations I had for the price point. Coffee was not good, and the food had a distinct cafeteria quality to it with no flavor. Ordered a basket of danishes, they were very cold in the middle and warm on the outside (microwaved?). Bottom line, if you're looking for brunch to better places with much better coffee and dishes around.

It is very popular place for breakfast and lunch. (They are great for dinner too) Casual but I always feel that the food is prepared with intention to make good so everyone can enjoy eating. Heart is in! .. so to say, in short I like the grass fed meat burger here. Simple but fresh ingredients. Friends enjoyed their shrimp risotto and vegetarian sandwich as well. If you are in the neighborhood I highly recommend trying this place. It’s tucked away but just across the street from the TJ Max/south shore place.

We started the evening with a glass of sparkling wine served with a seared scallop salad followed by a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. Next course was grilled hamakua mushrooms with a red wine blend. For our entree we had 5 spice braised beef paired with a Cabernet. We ended the night with a trio of sorbets and an aperitif.

  • 3/5 Chris D. 4 years ago on Google
The food was decidedly mediocre. Even if the food was half the price I wouldn't go back. It had nothing that was alluring, or memorable. The presentation of the food was good, but that left me with a deep sense of dissatisfaction as I was expecting more. I'm not sure why this place gets good reviews. There are numerous places that are better at the same price point or cheaper (which is sad). Maybe, the chefs were having an off night. The service was decent. Edit: I just realized that most of the reviews are for breakfast/brunch. It's possible that the breakfast is better than the dinner menu. Edit: Went to Fete in Chinatown next week. Cafe Tango is trash. The second worst restaurant I've been to on Oahu. Do not go here if you like good food.

The whites of our sunny side eggs were raw in our 3 Pytt I Panna. Mine had >1 cm of clear whites around the yolk. I would have sent it back to the kitchen to cook a better egg, but the manager had already been so rude that I was nervous to complain.

Nice setting, easy parking as they validate for the parking garage directly attached. We went for breakfast and I had the basic eggs and meat platter with roasted potatoes. It was good, much better than most breakfast fare in Honolulu. My daughter had one of the eggs Benedict plates and she said it was good (but said it was very comparable to Eggs 'n' Things). The eggs were cooked properly and the sauce was well flavored. I'd go again. It is more upscale in fare and the prices reflect that. That said, the food was of high quality, the atmosphere was nice and the service was fine (nothing notably above or below average regarding our waiter).
