First of all we were seated in an odd place right near the register and pickup area, not in the dining room. There was a dining area where others were seated. The first thing we were served was definitely not fresh. Cucumbers and cabbage in vinegar that had turned brown. The katsu curry was good, but the dark meat was a little bit of a turn off. The Nori wrapped Ahi was delicious. The veggies tempura were ok. The thriller of the night was chocolate macadamia nut ice cream. The coffee was also good. This is apparently a very good place to eat because there was a lot of takeout service going on I just wish I hadn't been sitting right in front of it all. I gave them a 3 for the old cuke salad. It was not edible or servible.

Great Okinawan cuisine with that home style flavor. Their shoyu pork and Goya dishes remind me of my friends mom's home cooking and brings back a lot of great memories. The service was great and very attentive. Well worth the effort of driving to Kalihi to have lunch. Give them a try, you won't regret it.

Incredible comfort food, nice ambiance, very clean in this time of Covid. For the amount of food and quality you are getting with each order, the prices are great. Good selection of Okinawan and Japanese food. My wife is big on food coming out hot and it definitely was. Some of the best shoyu pork I've had and the food just tastes fresh. Friendly, patient, and attentive service. There are also bathrooms available. Can't wait to go back and try something else!

2 choice Utage Special was more than my stomach could handle...forced myself to eat scoop of ice cream that came with it. Tables are appropriately spaced, server utilizing PPE, temperature check upon entering..Utage is following all guidelines to keep you safe.

Great place for comfort food. Traditional Okinawan / Japanese / Local entrees. Prices may seem steep but you get a complete meal including entree, soup or salad, tsukemono, beverage and even dessert. I feel it's actually a good value for the quality of food and what you get. They even serve Green River soda to bring you back to the good ole days. Service is always fast and friendly and you never feel rushed at any time even if all tables are full and there's a line outside. We sometimes need to remind ourselves how we'd feel if we were waiting for a table outside and give ours up after our meal instead of holding up a table turnover - the wait staff are still attentive and smiling even with empty dessert dishes on the table. Definitely a place to go to and return to again if you've already been there.

First time grabbing some takeout at Utage. We were not disappointed at all and all were good portions. Ordered the nori wrapped ahi tempura and two Okinawan dishes: pig feet soup and shoyu pork. Pig feet soup is my favorite Okinawan dish and I was extremely satisfied! Shoyu pork was just perfect! Would love to try other food next time!

Temperature check upon entry. (Plus) Spaced seating & sanitized tables after guests leave. (Plus) Now, on to the food...the chicken, eggplant & tofu in shoyu base was savory with some sweetness. (Plus) The pigs feet soup served hot with fairly clear broth was decent with radish slices and chopped veggies. (Plus) I may be a bit spoiled remembering my grandmother's soup back in the day but I will definately be back to try the rest of the Okinawan menu. Lastly, our waitress and staff were very attentive with water, coffee or iced tea refills, great recommendations and service. (Plus)

Great service... They treat you like family here, or maybe better than your family?!?!? Definitely a place for locals and open to tourists wanting a local experience while having attentive service. Food is very good and half the menu are specials that vary by the day, though there is a weekly routine. Everything is fresh and very tasty/flavourful. The bill is also enjoyable as many of their dishes includes dessert and a non alcoholic beverage.

A good place for chicken katsu, but I did have a hard muscle in one of my chicken.

It's a great restaurant that serves popular Okinawen meals. I ordered the ox tail soup. Very delicious and hardly any traces of beef fat throughout the broth. Many other Okinawen dishes to choose from.

Authentic Okinawan and Japanese food. Both their potato leaf soup and miso soup were delicious. Their okinawan soba with shou pork was so tasty! Also, the chicken katsu, tonkatsu and salmon were cooked perfectly. Best of all...it's a complete meal!
