My night with Uosan was something to remember. Chef nobu and his entourage served us with utmost attention and detail. Ranging from different crustaceans to omakase sashimi to sushi piece by piece (I didn’t take pictures for the fish. Was too hungry!) The quality of the fishes were impeccable, it was all flown in daily from Japan! The crab was live from Japan too. It was HUGE for 78$. The sushi was firm and tasted of years off experience. It doesn’t fall apart nor was the cuts of fish too big. There were such a vast amount of sake that the waiters were kindly explaining to me about sakes that were off list. I settled upon a basic kubota manju after I was paired with an amazing 08 don peri! Their service reminded me of when I spent a getaway at the four seasons in Maldives, DIVINE. I can’t commend them more than that. Well done. I’ve spent monies at other sushi restaurant and I felt that the service and the food in uosan was on par with a fine dining restaurant like sushi sho whilst on the other hand, the cost of the dinner was comparable to an izakaya (which means great price!). ***** It saddens me that there are so many one star reviews lately. Maybe they are just fake reviews. Chef nobu definitely does not deserve a one star for uosan. That is saying chef is serving conveyor sushi restaurant quality food, which I object. Additional to that, service was top notch.***** I hope this review helps future foodies!

Excellent food. As someone who travels between Hawaii and Japan almost every month, I can say that this place is the real deal. Definitely one of my favorite places in Hawaii.

The see urchin rice is indeed super good as a lot of articles said. Thought the sashimi is so-so. At least I don't feel it's any different from what u have in southern california.. they told us all those are from either Japan or Korea eailer morning and staff, but i really don't feel it's that fresh.

Had to change the 3 star to 1 star as the staff was mad at us when we ask if there is any other tipping option other than giving 18%, 20%, or 25%. He said if you don’t want to tip, I will tip the kitchen myself. (The iPad he used to charge us with has only 3 options for tipping amounts) I then asked if they have changes as I have a large amount cash. He said no and took over the iPad and selected “no tip” for me. (We left some cash anyways) He gave us a look and left madly…this attitude came from nowhere. Other than trying to solve the solution, he made a quick assumption and believed it’s easier to be mad… well… Below are my review for food: Ordered the most famous toro foie gras…rice is cold. I’m not sure that’s good sushi. Fish is good but can be better. You only know when you tried better ones. Price is reasonable. But you can find more cost effective ones around. Ordered also the UNI rice. Egg yolk has too strong flavor. Overall doesn’t worth the price. DO NOT order the Aokau grilled fish. It’s stinky and not very fresh.

Wow, the truffle butter uni & egg yolk rice is to die for! We loved it so much, we got an extra serving. The sashimi and oysters were incredibly fresh and the karaage and beef tongue udon were equally as good! The servers were attentive and the sweetest. 10/10 overall

Must come for the grilled unagi fresh from Korea! Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable on the menu items. Everything was decently priced for the quality you’re getting.

I originally went for truffle uni butter rice. After trying, 21 dollars is a little expensive😅 cuz for me it was just an egg bibimbap without sesame oil. probably only for me(my poor taste But the cream fried crab is really delicious!! The first bite is amazing! Really highly recommended To be honest, if I only tried truffle uni rice, I would probably write a bad comment, but I fell in love with the cream fried crab ball...

Nice vibe as a dinner place, but the food is so-so. I do love the Uni rice but the rest are just as regular as other restaurant. The sashimi is overrated and I think it not worth the price. The beef tongue taste hard and the onion on top were freezy. Highly recommend the white eel!!

I think the sushi is fresh, the shooters are good and the service is attentive at this restaurant. However, it feels more like a small, family-owned establishment, yet the prices reflect those of a modern sushi place.

One of the best Authentic Japanese restaurants in Hawaii! I really love the grilled unagi (excellent with wasabi!), beef tongue and Hamachi Collar. They don’t put sauce and marinate the Grilled fish so it tasted really fresh, and not fishy at all. Also love the crab croquette (forgot to take the photo

Fish、Crab and Uni are pretty fresh. My fav dish is the【roasted white Unagi】, it’s a MUST try!! The Zuwai Kano (snow crab from Japan)tastes good but pricey. The most popular dish- Uni Egg Rice: a little bit greasy and should be save for the last.

The fish quality and the design of seafood based dishes are of great quality. It’s an expensive Izakaya, but I got what I paid for. The fishes are imported from Japan and their taste worths it. With the relatively short distance from Hawaii to Japan compared to mainland US, it’s also more cost efficient to do so and for customers to enjoy the fresh flavor here. Particularly love the thick cut snapper with slightly grilled skin in the chef’s sashimi cut and the uni yoke rice. The uni rice goes great with mustard too if you wanna bring in some refresher. The chef’s seasoning skews slightly to the heavy side. Personally I think the oyster can take less soy sauce, same for the abu tora sushi. Overall, very enjoyable.

The signature dishes are good but the common sushi items don't stand out. Worth a try!! But don't expect to be blow away.
