Walked in for dinner without reservation, the staff were friendly and had us seated quickly ! Ordered Nan Gyi Thoke noodles (amazing dish rich in flavor and fresh ingredients) and chicken kebat (the spices and crispy vegetables work so well together in this delicious dish) Would love to go back and try the other dishes. Highly recommend!

After eating at their sister store Dagon we couldn't wait to try Rangoon. This location in Chinatown is larger and had a great atmosphere. We made reservations for 8 and it was still quite busy so it was a good move. Our table was ready on time and we were seated right away. Service was a little slow to start but once the ball was rolling everyone pitched in and we were well taken care of. We all got everything from salads to curry and more. The mango salad was very tasty and highly recommend. The curry was good but a little lacking in flavor for me, but the lamb was well cook and super tender. The one thing I ordered and really didn't like was the fried rice with veggies, my thought was the veggies would be chopped up small like a normal fried rice but actually everything was in big pieces and not very good. This is obviously my personal taste but I didn't like a warm salad with rice in it. Overall everything was real good and I'd definitely return to try some more. Second trip to Rangoon wasn't as good as the first, service was a bit off. They were totally consumed with filling to go orders and put our dine food after. All meals were brought out at different times and mine was last and 30 mins after first. They can definitely do better.

The answer is a resounding YES. In love and can't wait to come back. UPDATE: I came back, and actually took photos this time. This is my favorite food/restaurant on island, hands down, and there's a lot of good places to eat. Rangoon provides the most incredible comfort food to feed the soul. The flavors, textures and aromas are engulfing. My little sister does not like curry or any spice outside of salt and pepper and she loved EVERYTHING (including the coconut curry). Staff is so sweet, I will be back often. You certainly have gained a regular. Thank you so much for introducing such wonderful Myanmar cuisine to me! ♥️

Two words: Mango Salad. Thank me later. Seriously, it's one of the best salads I've ever had. It's sweet, salty, nice acid, crunchy, and super refreshing. The only problem is trying to get a little of everything with every bite.

The food is unreal. Honestly one of the best places I've been to on Oahu!🙌🏾 The flavor is explosive, exotic and savory. We had Coconut rice, Crispy Tofu, Palatha (bread) and two of the curries with Lamb and Chicken. My buddies said that was outstanding too. I'm vegetarian so didn't try those. Cannot wait to come back. Ty🙏🏾☀️

Absolutely incredible restaurant with incredible food. The atmosphere creates a positive mood, the wait staff are kind, knowledgeable, and prompt, and the food blew me away. It was such an amazing mix of flavors, I don't have the culinary knowledge to describe it. It's a bit pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for.

The food is absolutely delicious, this is hands down one of my new favorite restaurants in Hawaii! The flavors are so unique and refreshing! Sai, Sara, and Elton all blew me away with the amazing service as soon as I walked in! It was a super busy night but they were on top of every single order! I am definitely going to be a regular here! 🔥🔥🔥

Wow, what a find. Stumbled here because the Thai restaurant we were going to was closed, and you don't find too many Burmese restaurants, so we decided to try it. Having been to Myanmar, I think this is an Americanized version that's heavy on the sauces and herbs, but it was all cooked to perfection with a ton of flavor. Highly recommend the manadalay pork curry and coconut rice, its super coconutty. Seems understaffed because it was hard getting the server's attention with them consistently busy, but the food came out extremely quick, and they kept the water filled. Would definitely recommend!

A disappointment. The only reason this place this place gets more than one star is the excellent food. I had lamb with coconut, and a tea leaf salad which was excellent. However, the service was despicable. It took the server more than ten minutes to take our order. We put in an order for cocktails. However, the bartender was chatting with a customer and just didn't see our drinks ticket. Next, we somehow got one of the entrees along with one starter, followed by three more entrees and then two more starters. Weird. Ghen, and only then, when we told the bartender (since the server was no where to be seen) out drinks haven't arrived yet she acted surprised saying "I didn't see the ticket", never apologizing or offering any kind of compensation. It would be good if next time instead of having a private conversation she would do her job, I guess... That's a shame, since the food was good. However, the place is very obviously poorly managed.

Rangoon never disappoints. Such a solid spot. Must start with the tea leaf salad. Shrimp garlic noodle and coconut curry are solid follow ups. Enjoy.

I love trying new places to eat. This place was great. It definitely deserves 5 stars; here’s why it only got 4. The Samoa were amazing such great taste and flavor the dipping sauce was mind blowing and it was frozen in the middle! I’m not posting to be a jerk. I could have provided feedback to the staff at the time but chose not to because they were getting busy. It would set the tone that were were “those customers”. The Garlic Noodles with shrimp was also soooooo tasty, and it too was cold. My dish came out first and the top of the food was hot the lower layers closer to the plate was not, yet the plate was hot. The Garlic Noodles should be don’t with anything but shrimp; it reminded me of a shrimp Pad Thai. The crispy bits of garlic really elevated the food textures of the soft noodles and crust fresh cucumbers. It was really impressed the flavors and the atmosphere. The wait staff was friendly yet did not introduce themselves. I’d go again! The photos are the Samosas and the Garlic Noodles.

I gave one star because the appetizers that we ordered were really quite tasty! Our waitress, however, made the meal very unenjoyable. She carries a non-local accent so my friend asked her where she was from. Her response? ‘That’s not important.’ as she walked off. She never gave us her name. We asked for a drink from the bar. She said that they don’t serve liquor during the lunch period (???). It was one pm in the afternoon and they were closing in an hour…on a Saturday afternoon. When was liquor served then? At the opening bell?? My friend and I wanted to order a meal but changed our minds. She made the whole experience…weird. We paid for our appetizers and left. We ended up going around the corner to Olay’s Thai and had an amazing meal and even better service. As long as that blonde haired lady’s there, NO one should go there.

Great little spot. The cocktail (G-force with tequila) was light and refreshing, the chicken curry appetizer was deep (awesome flavor), and the Rangoon tea leaf salad (with cabbage) was crispy and crunchy. Everything I was looking for and so happy that I stumbled on this place. The music was a little loud when I visited so pick a seat away from the speakers if you are with a party and want to talk. I was alone so it didn’t bother me but the couple next to me made a comment. Still 5 star for me.

I recommend starting with the Rangoon Tea Leaf Salad or the Mango Salad. I really enjoyed eating the variety of ingredients used to prepare the salad mix, it was delicious and filling. For the main dishes, I recommend ordering the Burmese Pumpkin Stew with you choice of protein and Pork Belly with Green Mustard. Both dishes were we delicious, but high recommend the Burmese Pumpkin Stew with it warm curry spices and pumpkin flavor.

Tried this new Burmese restaurant in Honolulu, Chinatown district. The tea leaf salad was okay. The Oh No Khao Swe (Coconut chicken soup) needed more coconut creme. Didn't have the rich flavor I am used to. Presentation was unique and a good touch as you could put as little or asuch as you wanted. The beef curry (Burmese style) was the best I have eaten outside of home cooking.

Opted for take out and even then, the food was great! I had never tried Burmese food before so it was a new experience. I ordered the mango salad, lemongrass prawns (appetizer), the pork belly, and the fisherman’s stew (not pictured). Food had a strong flavor which could be intimidating for those who are not used to it, but I do recommend giving it a shot. Mango salad was my personal favorite, as everything else was just a tad on the saltier side--it was the perfect blend of savory and sweet with great texture from the cashews(?). The prawns were very tender and flavorful. The seafood in the fisherman's stew also tasted fresh. The pork belly itself was very soft, but as you can tell from the dark sauce color, the sauce itself was strong and salty. I do prefer more milder flavor, so take my review with a grain of salt (no pun intended).

We tried their appetizer coconut curry platha…. they tasted horrible :( platha has was so oily… 🤢 We tried their 🤮 Salomon fish curry… fish was bland and curry was so full of oil….. worse Burmese food we ever had :( We couldn’t eat the food so left it like that…

Love Dagon, so came here. So good and even better than Dagon! Not sure which of these dishes is the best as they were all amazing! Flavorful and depth. Palatha is a little pricey at $5 per slice, but crunchy and delicious!

Food was delicious but a little salty. We really had to flag the servers down but they seemed a little short staffed so I wouldn't hold it against them. Every dish we got was fantastic and there was so much more on the menu I wanted to try. We were quickly seated at 8PM without a reservation which was great. Coconut rice was an amazing iteration of the dish!

I have to say for not making reservations it was the best mistake. As a party of three we were seated at the bar, the bartender was phenomenal. He had stories of the restaurant, owner and drink knowledge. All wonderful, enlightening knowledge to listen to. The food is absolutely delicious. Clean atmosphere, great, hardworking staff. Very Recommended!

We came here without a reservation and had a great time. The fritters were delicious and the vegetarian soup was awesome. Be aware that in 2021 there's a labor shortage and be patient with the service. Our waitress was extremely kind but I think she was the only one for the whole restaurant!

Great food with gluten free options. We had 2 different people recommended this place and we are so glad we went. The staff was wonderful and the decor is perfect. Don't forget to ring the gong!

The female staff inside was very rude to me at lunchtime on 16 September. I went in to order takeout and got a regular menu from a nearby table. She rudely told me not to touch it but to get the paper one at the bar. She did not even hand me one or indicate where to find it. When I wanted to sit down to wait for my order at a chair at a table, she rudely said I could not sit there but only could at the bar. Why did not she say so politely in the beginning? I was the only one in the restaurant as it had just opened for lunch so there was no excuse for her rude and unprofessional behavior. Then when my food came she would not accept cash as she said she had no change. Lucky I had a debit card. When I asked for chopsticks she looked bothered as she had to go back to the other end of the bar to get it. I will not go back to this place again and will not recommend it to my friends. Ever. If you run a restaurant you should hire and train more qualified staff. I see that this is a common complaint in other reviews. We customers pay not only for food but also for decent service. The food was okay yet overpriced, but the service was lousy. Wish there was a way to give you zero stars.

The best chilly chicken (Spicy) in USA, making me happy about food is not that easy, if you’re Indian and like spicy food try their chilly chicken, you will simply love it. I drove 1 hour again to try it on continuous days, it’s soo good.
