Too awesome... I am a fan of Hawaii 5-0 (both today and in the 70's) and always thought the statue was cool... and getting to see it in person was amazing!) His palace is in the background, and Iolani Palace is right across the street

Funny, I took a pic of this figure in Washington DC 10 years and didn't know who he was.

Cool statue. We have seen it many times on Magnum PI and Hawaii 5-0. Cool to see it in person.

This is a must see monument when you visit Oahu. I’d say, take a day and book a tour at the palace, go to the Art museum, and just walk around this area to take in all the beauty. There are several historical markers with great information to learn about Hawaiian history. Go out and enjoy all Hawaii has to offer!

Don't walk on the grass! Take a tour and learn the history of King Kamehameha! It is worth it! And, please, for the love of God, no corny DBZ jokes! We went across the street to check out the palace where the Princess was held for treason.

Stopped by the Kamehameha statue across the palace. We street parked on the busy highway. It was 2 hrs til 6pm. After 6pm there are no time limit. After taking pictures in front of the palace, we walked across to see this statue. It is definitely a statue to see when your in honolulu.

This is one of those iconic things to do if you're on Oahu. The statue itself stands in front of the Judiciary building, and is across from Iolani Palace and the Capitol, so there's quite a bit of other sights in the area. A similar statue can be found both in Washington DC and the Big Island of Hawaii

Interesting history and cool location. It dose not look like I expected from some of the scenes in Hawaii 5-0 😁.

I recommend that you visit this statue on King Kamehameha day which is on June 11. On June 9 they will have a ceremony where local Hawaiians will adorn the statue with leis which makes it a very cool cultural experience. There is also a free walking tour that begins at the statue and I recommend that you go with the walking tour to have an understanding of the historical significance of each building around the area.

Visited after working hours. Plenty of parking to step out and get some isolated photos of the statue of King Kamehameha and the Iolani Palace across the street. Please show respect and follow the directions on the signs. If you do the research on the history of Hawaii, this area should be treated with respect for the Hawaiian people.

Honestly only came to visit this icon because it was featured heavily on the Hawaii Five-0 remake. Definitely recommend visiting anyway as there are some informative plaques on the statue, which make for an interesting visit.

What a fun historical place to visit. The Palace is right across the street, and this is also the building that Hawaii 5.0 was filmed out of in the background.

This statue sits at the cross roads of a bunch of very interesting places, I'd suggest making reservations for the palace, the mission building, see the church made of coral, and art museum.

We visited this statue on Thursday, our fourth day in Oahu after the Iolani Palace. We walked across the street and took photos in front of this statue which was not crowded with people at all in the mid morning hour of 10 am. The splendor of this statue must be witnessed in person! The great King Kamehameha was the one who United all of the Hawaiian islands as a unified nation. He will always be commemorated as the great unifier and the first king of Hawaii as one kingdom of islands. It’s unfortunate that his descendants took the throne and allowed white influence to result in the Hawaiian monarchy to be overthrown, but the Hawaii of the past has not been all lost and forgotten. This is in part due to the memory and surviving legacy of King Kamehameha forever. The statue is in pristine condition and it is obvious that it is well maintained and accounted for by the Hawaiian government in Oahu. I would recommend that all tourists and locals visit this statue and take photos while respectfully paying homage to the grounds that King Kamehameha’s statue rests on forever.

Took the Waikiki Trolley and got to spend some time here. Very peaceful area and so much history. If you look closely at the top of the building, you will find the year it was built.

A beautiful building with preserved architecture. I am amazed by the fact that everything has been preserved.

Great historical area. Recommend taking one of the trolley tours, specifically the red line trolley to see all the hot spots while learning rich hawaiian history.

Definitely a historical landmark to come and see on your visit to Honolulu. Was very nice to see the architecture and beauty of both the Iolani Palace and the King Kamehameha Statue

Kamehameha the Great. One of four statues of the Chief. 1-Honolulu 2-Hilo 3-Washington D.C. inside capital building. (Heaviest statue so they put it in the back of the others so not to crack the floor.) 4-boat sank, somewhere in deep blue sea. Across the street is Iolani Palace. The only recognized palace of royalty in the USA.

A good landmark - but should do research before arriving to learn about its importance. Wouldn't recommend visiting specifically but good to check out if you're in the Downtown Honolulu area.

It was and is a cultural significance. I truly wish this is put on the places to visit and learn for vacationers. My wife I'm sooo happy she got me out of Compton to view all the wonderful sites on this beautiful land.

An impressive golden statue to commemorate King Kamehameha. I was surprised by the level of detail on the gold clothing.

It's a nice landmark to see, a reminder of how Hawaii used to be and also all the work and effort the King did to his country.
