Definitely worth visiting! No worries if stopping here is a last minute decision, there is no cost to enter, walk the grounds and visit the museums. However, if you want to visit the USS Arizona memorial, then you need to plan ahead and get your tickets way in advance. The entire facility is well maintained and very peaceful to walk around and check everything out. Large, flat walkways and sidewalks to accommodate strollers and wheelchairs. Plenty of benches to sit and relax. There are also several volunteers and workers around with tons of knowledge if you have questions about anything. If you're on Oahu, you need to stop!

Plan ahead! To get the most out of your visit, plan on spending the day to experience all the museums and sites. Wake up early and get to there early. Stay on getting your tickets to the Arizona memorial. Tickets are available 24 hours in advance. The line for stand by was LONG, so I would not put my money on that working out. Don't skip the shuttle to the Missouri and aircraft museum. We used the Oahu City card for our day at Pearl Harbor and it was a money saver. We greatly enjoyed the helpful staff and stories from the rangers. Don't skip this on your Hawaii vacation!

Great experience, probably what impressed me (besides the history of what happened in Pearl Harbor) is that there's oil coming out, you really can see it and smell it. The place is very very small, it is a quick walk. Of course it is a memorial so, not sure why people take small kids here, I would go to the Missouri boat with them instead

So this review will primarily address the Battleship USS Missouri tour. Arrived at Pearl Harbor National Park around noon on Friday and walked through security to purchase 2 tickets. No issues. If you have a military or veteran ID present it for a discount. Discount is only for the individual holding the card. Drove to the Battleship on Ford Island (ensure you can do that as the Island is actively guarded and has restricted access, if not no biggie as there is a nice air-conditioned bus to take you). We walked to the entrance. Go to the end, basically where the ship is, and turn left. Past the concession stands there is another checkpoint to enter the ship. They will take your picture there and then you proceed to the ship. If you want buy a bottle of water at one of the stores and you can bring it along otherwise no food and beverages are allowed. As we boarded a volunteer group informs you of a free guided 3 stop tour. We opted for the tour and enjoyed it greatly. Price seemed expensive but the experience was unique, educational, and fun. Highly recommend if you have the time.

It was humbling and an absolute honor to be able to visit Pearl Harbor. Please be aware you should RESERVE a ticket to go visit the USS ARIZONA. Also if you want to visit Ford Island where the Memorial of the USS OKLAHOMA and USS MISSOURI are you either need to be a member of the military and have an ID proving this or have a seat on the shuttle bus, otherwise you will NOT be allowed to see them except from a distance... they are on an ACTIVE MILITARY BASE. The museums at Pearl Harbor are very informative, and have lots of WWII history on display, please visit and learn! Also, I think you would benefit greatly from watching the short video provided BEFORE visiting the USS ARIZONA, it provides more perspective and makes more of an emotional impact on what you are seeing, what those people who were there fought and died for. Be quiet and respectful at all times while visiting this Memorial.

This is our second visit. We did things differently this time and just came to tour the USS Missouri and the Aviation Museum. The Missouri was incredible. So huge. We did the guided tour and Michael was awesome. I wish he’d spoken just a little slower as his words tended to run together and he was of course moving his head from side to side to speak to the whole group so I felt like we missed some stuff however he imparted a LOT of information in 30 minutes. More than we could hope to remember. Exploring the ship after the tour was absolutely amazing. My husband’s grandfather was on a carrier actually stationed at Pearl and part of the fleet that left before the attack. Seeing life on board was eye opening for both of us and I think really made my husband appreciate and feel closer to his grandfather who he lost when he was 12. The experience really can’t be put into words and we would just encourage anyone visiting Oahu to visit Pearl Harbor. The things you don’t think about but find surprise you. Like the dentist’s chair, the PO, The bathroom situation and the list goes on. Sleeping in bunks with no windows anywhere. Living like that for months and months… The aviation museum was cool as well but underwhelming compared to what we expected. The most moving part was Hanger 79 and the bucket holes still in the windows. The entire experience/site is accessible but for obvious reasons not all of the ship will be able to be seen from a wheelchair and I’m not sure if the USS Bowfin is accessible at all. There are lots of restrooms, gift shops, food and parking. Give yourself time. It’s a lot of information ands a lot of ground to cover.

What an experience. Definitely glad we came. Can't bring in any bags or purses of any kind. Small clear bags are acceptable or JUST what you can fit into your pockets. No outside food or drinks allowed. Entrance to memorial center is free. Different costs to tour ships etc. Pic of Missouri tour receipt provided.

Very beautiful and well maintained memorial. Unfortunately count spend a lot of time because I had to catch my flight. But it’s great to know the history about the war. The place is beautiful even if you ok walk around it is very beautiful. Definitely recommend going here.

Very interesting not just for history buffs, come here without a bag, camera phones are OK, so is the water bottle, but not a purse. The Arizona Memorial by boat is free (except for a small fee when you do it online) but you are requested to book a time slot. Some stand by places available when not too busy on site.

We did not have tickets reserved, but were able to get to the exhibit through a wait line offered to non-ticket holders. We went to the memorial right when it opened and were able to get on the first boat. The naval submarine museum is not included, and is an extra cost. Also ladies, there's a strict bag rule. Advise not taking anything in with you.

Very important to arrive early if you're headed to USS Arizona! They leave about 10 minutes early for each escort out there. This historic site is beyond a bucket list item. This is the only place in Hawaii not on Island Time. Like I mentioned prior just get here early. We spent easily 2.5 hours listening to the audio tour. Map out plenty of time as there is plenty to see, read, and take in.

As a history buff, this was very interesting. We did the USS Arizona tour as well, and that was fantastic, the ranger was incredibly informative and offered so much insight into what we were seeing. The boat ride over is very calm, not choppy, easy to handle and there are good ramps to get on and off the boat. Many of the details of the attack we did not learn in school, and it was incredible to see and learn about the space where this all happened and read first-hand accounts. Would be nice to have a better welcome at the entrance to know which experience required additional ticketing and possibly a map, none of which was offered to us.

Very interesting. It's amazing to hear the true story after so many years. I have seen many documentaries and movies. The trip out to the Arizona memorial was sobering. Seeing all the names of the people that didn't survive. Just can't imagine what they all went through for civilians and service members. Highly recommend taking a guided tour due to this being a popular place for people to visit otherwise you might not even get a ticket to get to the memorial.

It is the place you need ti visit once in your life time! The parking space is limited, so if you drive, you better come early or take an Uber! You need at least 4 to 6 hours to somewhat quickly looked the entire site. Buy your ticket online and early! The boat ride to the Arizona manorial are sold out very quickly everyday and standby line are long! No bags or backpack of any kind are allowed in the park!

I've done this a couple of times. There's a lot to see and to do it justice, you really need to do it over a couple of days. Last time I did the Missouri and the Arizona, this time I did the submarine and aircraft exhibitions. Of course, you can buy a ticket that covers everything too. Getting there: I came from Waikiki where we are staying. This would be a familiar story for most tourists. It cost a little over $50 by cab. Coming home, I took the Number 42 bus which is more or less door to door and cost $2. The travel time in peak hour is similar, so I'd recommend bus every one. In peak season, ticketing and security is a problem but in mid-October, it was a breeze. Prices are reasonable and even without a ticket, there are a few museums to see. There are plenty of facilities and a couple of eateries. The main areas are very disabled-friendly but obviously, climbing around on the Missouri requires high agility. The submarine exhibit is the weakest, especially now that the submarine has gone. If you're going to skip one, skip that one. The Missouri is incredible and well worth doing. You get to see all over the ship and stand in one of the turning points of history. It's my second favourite part of Pearl Harbour. The Arizona is very emotional but overall it is a bit of a let down compared to the Missouri and the planes. There's not much to do there except feel sad and pay your respects. The aircraft section is easily the best part of the experience. There are several rare aircraft here across two hangars and you can walk amongst them. The descriptions are comprehensive too. All in all, if you're visiting Hawaii, you have to come here.

Such a somber, heartbreaking, yet beautiful monument for those lost in the Pearl Harbor attacks. Our tour group arrived early and that’s something I highly recommend. We were able to take it in before it got real busy with people. Witnessing the raising of the flag and the national anthem was absolutely moving. That occurred at 8:50 or 9am if I remember correctly. I recommend purchasing tickets ahead of time to guarantee that you will get to take the fairy to the USS Arizona. Otherwise you’re on standby and my understanding is that they only take a certain number of groups out there. My Mom had the wonderful idea to bring our fresh lei flowers (off the string, of course) to leave at the memorial for those still entombed in the USS Arizona. They have done a beautiful job of honoring the service men that fought for our country and died so tragically.

This place honours the soldiers who fought long and hard pretty well here. You get to see the actual machines used on the day of the battle and it’s a very emotional historical experience. There is a lot to see and I would definitely suggest buying tickets in advance.

Just so well thought out. So many exhibits to tour. I strongly recommend buying the Passport to Pearl Harbor before you arrive. Plan on about 6 hours. Parking is online only and costs $7. Details are available online. You will save money and time. The Passport does not include the Arizona Memorial. Bags are prohibited, so bring everything in your pockets. If you are arriving from the freeway in the morning, the LONG line is for Ford Island only which requires a military or government access ID. Go around that line and the next entrance is for the Historic Site. For lunch I recommend the 806 restaurant, a short walk and you won't have to give up your parking space. Great food at reasonable prices and a fantastic view of the yacht harbor. Bring water to the PH Historic Sites.

We arrived about 8:30 am, visited the Bowfin for an hour before doing our separately scheduled tour to the USS Arizona Memorial at 9:45. We were advised by others to catch the shuttle next to make sure we had time to see both the USS Missouri and the Aviation Museum. Glad we followed that guidance. We finished with the museum at the Memorial and Gift Shop just as they were closing at 4 pm. It was a wonderful day! I loved the somber, reverent atmosphere and the opportunity to remember the sacrifices made by many.

Visiting the Pearl Harbor National Memorial was a deeply moving and educational experience. Stepping onto the grounds, one instantly feels the weight of history and the sacrifices made by those who were here on December 7, 1941. The exhibits are meticulously curated, offering a comprehensive insight into the events leading up to and following the attack. The USS Arizona Memorial, in particular, is a poignant tribute, allowing visitors to pay their respects to the fallen in a solemn and respectful manner. The knowledgeable staff are passionate about sharing the significance of this site, adding depth to the experience. Whether you're a history buff or simply seeking to understand a pivotal moment in world history, the Pearl Harbor National Memorial is a must-visit destination.

There are several audio guided tours you can do that are very easy to follow. There is way more than you can do in a day but definitely make sure you take time to walk the bowfin ship. I also recommend reserving a spot in advance for the cruise over to the memorial but even if u don't they will probably be able to fit you in on standby. They don't allow bags in, and would recommend the restaurant to the right of the entrance when u get hungry

Visited on a not very busy Sunday morning. We were super excited to see this historically important military base/museum but disheartened to be greeted by baseless rules and sarcasm from the security guard. I had a tiny purse with me which was apparently not allowed. Knowing how atrocious the theft is in Honolulu, we were disappointed we had to leave my purse behind. Fortunately, I was able to take the important contents and place into my pockets, however here’s where the logic disappears: there were NO metal detectors and no security checks entering the museum. So, I pointed out to the guard that I’m literally moving the contents of my purse to my pockets. He didn’t seem to care. Not a fan of silly rules. Too much red tape to actually see this historic monument. Disclaimer: we went during Covid. We did see a gorgeous double rainbow and appreciated learning about some history while we were there. We were ultimately turned off by the poor customer service and plethora of silly rules (with a true lack of actual security) so we left after 20 minutes. Maybe it’ll be a better experience in a year from now.

A great place to visit for a several hours of understanding the importance of Pearl Harbor. The Arizona Memorial is a boat ride away to see what is left of the ship from above, a very peaceful place. No bathrooms on that part. There is a small fee to get into the large visitor area, you have access to numerous memorials and interactive exhibits. The Bowfin exhibit is an extra fee. COVID-19 guidelines were being followed.

Covid rating. Very few people were there. Less than 250. Made for a tremendously quiet experience and very serene as we could spend as much time at any display that we wanted. The ferry to the USS Arizona had less than 30 people on it so our time at the memorial was not complicated by large crowds, either. The Remembrance Walk was, again, a fantastic experience because no crowds. The entire experience was sobering. A must visit!

Beautiful memorial. Extremely important to remain respectful, rangers and security will give you a nice intro about the ship, survivors, and ask you put your phones on silent and only use them for pictures once you're on the memorial. Also all bags must be kept at lockers for $6-7 dollars a bag, my family put all our medium sized bags inside one bigger bag and only had to pay for one.

The Navy has closed the Arizona Memorial due to loading dock repairs when we visited on 09/07/2021. We're getting a partial refund from the bus tour company. Otherwise, we enjoyed the other exhibits. Bags are not allowed unless they are clear. If bags are not clear, you will need to pay approximately $6-$8 for an onsite storage locker.

You can spend 3 hours to all day and be extremely happy.

Very touching, seeing where the attack happened, seeing the museum was a good experience as well. Definitely suggest watching the movie they have, by where you line up to go see the ship, BEFORE going out to see the battleship Arizona. It gets you really into the sensation of what happened that day, and shows real footage of the attack. It also gives you some of the back story of why it happened. It was also great to see the Missouri as well. It was definitely a once in a lifetime experience to see where WW2 started for us, and to also see where it ended for us, all in the same place.

Visiting Pearl Harbor was inspirational and moving! I had read about Pearl Harbor and heard about it my whole life, but being there and seeing it all was a whole different, incredible experience. The horror of the attack, the heartbreaking ending of lives, the destruction- it all came to life in a monumental way. It cost only $1.00 dollar to be able to enter and ride the ferry to the USS Arizona memorial - an incredible experience. The USS Bowfin submarine and museum and the USS Missouri Battleship are also available to tour, but at an additional cost. I would highly recommend it though. I would recommend spending the whole day there - if it is your first time going. There is a restaurant there and a snack place. There are also multiple restrooms. The museum parts are really cool and interesting and recommend going through them slowly so you have enough time to read and process the information! So good to learn about our nation’s history. Pearl Harbor is an amazing place to visit and I definitely recommend it! 💙🇺🇸❤️

I can only say that this had been one of the most humbling experiences I’ve had in Hawaii. I had tears, joy and pride for it’s eloquent displaces of valor. This memorial is an amazing tribute to the hero’s that served and protected our United States of America. The ferry ride was sobering and respectful to the Arizona site. Everything was without cost. We left a donation and our experience wasn’t any less greater than those who paid. It’s free to enter and the cost comes with variety of different tours your can take. There is plenty of restrooms as well as a food options. If you get the chance put this on your list.

There isn't enough good to say about this. It is emotionally stirring and beautifully put together. My only downside was I had to park far away but it doesn't deter from the experience. We only spent 2 or so hours here and I could have easily spent many more. Thank you to all of our soldiers and their families for your service and sacrifice.

Loved our day visiting Pearl Harbor for the very first time. Highly recommend going out to the Arizona Memorial during low tide. Thoroughly enjoyed touring the Bowfin submarine. After walking through the museums and sites in this area we took the free shuttle to Ford Island to tour the USS Missouri. Full day and it was wonderful how they have encapsulated all of this history for everyone to respect and appreciate.

It's definitely worth visiting. Even without a ticket, there are two free exhibits, and you can see the USS Missouri Battleship from far away. If you do get tickets, my favorite part is the USS Missouri Battleship. It's really cool to see the technology on board and it gives you a good idea of what life was like on a WW2 battleship.

Memorial is amazing, security not so much. Use the storage lockers on site, even if the rangers tell you to put something back in your car. NPS has a law enforcement ranger, but also has two parking lots (adjacent), so don't expect them to prevent theft. Professional thieves case the parking lot and wait for you to get turned back at the gate for having a purse etc then hit your car once you get on the boat to the memorial.

The memorial or museum has about four different tours. I was able to get onto the USS Missouri and the submarine. It’s good if you really like history or want to learn more, being that I’m not much of a history fanatic I skimmed through the majority of it. The Missouri had a lot of interesting points with a spot dedicated to Hiroshima and Nagasaki. There’s also two rooms/areas to walk in for history on the attack and aftermath that are free. Two gifts shops and a food truck. Definitely get the pack for four that’s more affordable but make a whole day trip of it!

Beautiful memorial with PLENTY of history to see and explore. I really need to do these things by myself because I could have spent 8 hours in the Missouri alone reading everything but with the family they kind of just like to walk through at a quicker pace. I didn't get to go to the air museum or see the USS Bowfin but that's okay I'll be back and give myself much more time. Unfortunately the USS Arizona was not accessible due to a faulty dock so I'm pretty bummed I didn't get to see that either

Great content and quite a bit to see. We paid for an audio tour which also included a virtual tour and received a souvenir shopping bag and coffee mug. Unfortunately, and although reserved weeks in advance, the boat tour to the memorial was not available because of damage to the boat dock. I did not get a refund for the reserved tickets. If the shore dock was damaged, why could our capable US Navy not create a replacement or substitute dock. If the tour boats could not land at the USS Arizona dock, could there still have been a boat tour closer to the site? The audio tour combined with reading the information at each area took about one and a half hours. Because we were not able to visit the actual USS Arizona Memorial, the virtual tour was nice because it was as if you were actually on the memorial and could 'move' to different areas for different perspectives and sights. I was impressed with the dedication to the Japanese-American Nisei Soldiers who fought not only the enemies of America but the prejudices they faced from their own American brethren who treated them as enemies.

Good to visit and pay tribute to our fallen. This museum gives us a chance to stand over the ship wreckage and feel the somber peace of the battle site that occurred unsuspectingly on December 7, 1941. It is such a deeply and moving experience. Never forget.

Great experience. Lots of information, photos, education. I paid an extra $20 to go up the tower. I think it was worth the money. There were only 3 of us plus the guide. Great view of Ford Island and the surrounding area. I paid for a "Go City" pass which allowed me access to many sights, so I'm not sure how much it actually cost me.

Visited the Arizona memorial, battleship Missouri, bowfin sub museum and aviation museum. So much history, all the sites were very interesting. The Arizona memorial was very cool to see but very sad, very beautiful and you can still see the oil leaking from the ship. The Missouri was very easy to navigate and the lower deck was climate controlled so it wasn’t hot going through, they had clear markings on where to go and what areas were off limits, had a snack area and gift shop there. Took the free shuttle bus to ford island to see the that and the aviation, they run pretty frequently so you don’t have to wait long. The aviation museum was interesting as well. Took the shuttle back across bridge to see the sub museum, very cool to go on, they had fans throughout to help cool you down.

I went here as part of a tour, so first off I would like to say if you have any interest in this you should spend the whole day here. The queues for parking are very long. Come early. The exhibits are very insightful with a local touch. Artifacts shown do not disappoint. Trip to the Arizona Memorial also has a line. They depart in thirty minute intervals from the auditorium on the left side of the grounds. Buses to the Battleship Missouri and the aviation museum are right in front of the submarine memorial building adjacent to the parking lot. They leave every fifteen minutes and will be full. Expect another queue. As this is a active military reservation, the bridge heading to Ford Island to the two places mentioned before can be closed at any time. So factor in any unexpected delays.

Being able to visit Pearl Harbor was an honor. Getting to visit the USS Arizona Memorial is a privilege. The grounds were kept meticulous, and all of the Park Rangers along with Naval Seamen were true professionals. It is highly recommended to purchase tickets in a guided tour, or you risk being on a waiting list onsite. The visit will only require about 1.5 hours to see it proper, including the pinnacle USS Arizona Memorial. Ladies should bring a clear storage pouch styled purse, or risk not being able to bring in a traditional handbag for security reasons. Definitely can understand why this is the #2 destination for tourists while visiting the island of Oahu, HI.

There are a good deal of walk through exhibits, and you can buy tickets to tour the USS Bowfin. I highly recommend getting a reservation to go out to the USS Arizona. This is such a sobering experience, and it is free. Lots to do for the whole family.

Bucket list trip. Gorgeous, serene setting. Very moving at times, knowing what happened here and that I was standing over the remains of over 900 lost souls. After a short boat ride across the harbor from the visitors center, you have about 12-15 minutes on the memorial, so be quick in taking your pictures and paying your respects.

Come early in the morning for shorter wait times and less crowds! We arrived a little before 9am, and it was still busy, but we didn’t have to wait long for anything. A great memorial to the soldiers who died here. Museum does a good job at showing many varied perspectives of civilians, soldiers, and how different people experienced the war, like Oahu residents, Nisei soldiers, etc. Submarine tour was also cool, though not something I’d recommend if you need wheelchair or walker access or get very very claustrophobic!

I humbly enjoyed my experience here. I read several names on the wall and enjoyed reading about the events leading up to and including the battle. The gift shop was varied and tax free. It was cool to see so many servicemen working out volunteering there. There are two reasons I couldn't give this a 5-star rating: issues with tour reservations and parking. Free tour tickets run out every day, milliseconds after becoming available. We did the stand-by line instead and the line usually got shorter when people left due to impatience. We weren't allowed to see the movie but we got to hear the rules. We were told not to take pictures going in without being told why, but we figured out it was so it wouldn't get congested entering the memorial. The movie in the building labeled Attack was very well done. More has been done to tell the Japanese side of the story. Worth the effort, though, and very impressive.

Beautiful experience to learn about a very sad day in history. If you have a specific day in mind to visit? Be sure to check out the NPS website for how to make reservations. Reservations are time specific and released a week before. If the time you want sells out (which it will), they release ~20 more tickets for each time slot the afternoon before. I was able to login right at 3pm HI time the day before to get 4 spots at 10am for Thursday. The reservation is only $1/person but the availability is the issue. The theatre room meant to display a video about the history before the visit to the memorial on the water is closed due to COVID but the video does play in a covered outdoor area on the visitor center grounds FYI. The boat ride and memorial visit itself are very moving and well done. Definitely sit in the back of the tour boat on your way back to the visitor center to get the best views for pictures from the water. There’s a nice gift shop at the visitor center too.

This is a great memorial to those lost at Pearl Harbor. Plan to spend at least 4 hours just for the Arizona Memorial, videos, exhibits, and Waterfront Memorial. The exhibits and videos are very educational. The boat ride to and from the memorial is nice. The memorial is well done. You get good views of different parts of the sunken ship and can still see the oil slick. The audio tour is definitely worth it. It is easy for two people to share one audio tour by either sharing ear pieces, playing on speaker, or taking turns listening. You need reservations to grantee going to the Arizona Memorial. Some tickets are released a week ahead and then some more are released 3PM the day before. It is helpful making an account at recration.gov before the tickets are released.

if you pay just for the USS Arizona tour go back and pay for the entire package because it’s just a memorial with 1-2 rusted parts of the ship sticking out of the water you’ll spend more time staring at white walls than the looking at anything because there isn’t anything to look at. The museum was nice and reading all the backstory to each ship that was lost at sea I just wish I could’ve taken the submarine and other ship tour instead.

  • 5/5 Sade R. 2 years ago on Google
This is extremely extensive. Be prepared to spend a full day here. We were there 4 hours and didn't even get through everything. You can bring a water bottle for refills but no bags. There is a storage area for baggage though. The Passport to Pearl Harbor also includes the opportunity for a virtual reality experience. The docents are knowledgeable and can share more of the history behind what's happening as well.

  • 5/5 Rocky O. 2 years ago on Google
The Arizona memorial was closed for maintenance, but the narration from Jame Lee Curtis was powerful coupled by the testimonials from witnesses and service member survivors. The audio tour was very educational and incredibly emotional. The powerful experience is not what I was ready for.

What an amazing and emotional experience. Everyone working is very helpful, but you may want to reserve tickets ahead of time or you're waiting in the standby line. If you go when they first open, the wait isn't long. But later in the day, the lines are huge for the boats unless you have tickets. Pay to check out the submarine named the USS BOWFIN. Definitely worth it 👌

  • 5/5 Pat K. 2 years ago on Google
Very very nicely done. I've been to many national parks/monuments and this was definitely worth the trip and the ticket expense. Would go again. By the way don't bring a bag they require a bag check in a locker, no bags past a certain part.

  • 5/5 Marcus W. 2 years ago on Google
Humbling and learning experience at the Arizona and Missouri memorials. Be patient with the lines and crowds, and have sunscreen on hand for the outdoor factor. Aviation museum has some good historical panels at hangar 37. Entry was free. But the sites cost $25+ to visit. Plan accordingly.

  • 3/5 Sarang R. 2 years ago on Google
Nothing amazing. The submarine tour is good. War ship tour closes at 4pm which wasn't mention anywhere. Wish there were more staff to help or more board sign or information to guide the tourists. Aviation can be skipped. Didn't like the museum. It's not engaging at all. Mostly, see it and feel it. No engagement at all. I think the only factor is that the museum is built at the exact same location where the actual Pearl harbor took place. So you can expect the security too. The world war 2 museum in new Orleans is way better

  • 5/5 Rachel D. 2 years ago on Google
Lots of tips for anyone going to visit. It can be virtual impossible to get tickets to see the Arizona. Instead they have a stand by line that we waited in for at least 2 in a half hours. WELL WORTH THE WAIT THOUGH. BRING WATER AND SUN BLOCK. If you can, the earlier you get there the better. They don't allow any bags or purses in the park. So leave them in your tunk unless you want to pay the locker fee. My husband and I took turns waiting in line and went to view the rest of the park. Lots of amazing things to see.

  • 5/5 Todd B. 1 year ago on Google
This isn’t just for history buffs, this place is a somber reminder of the beginning of our involvement in WWII. This entire site is a reminder how great a country we live in. The memorial and couple museums don’t have to cost. You may want to pay a few bucks and visit the Bowfin, Missouri, or flight museum attractions. I had to say I had been to Ford Island so I caught the flight museum and exhibits. Very interesting. The Missouri is a must see too. Easy way to spend an entire day brushing up on why the US is the greatest.

No sense in coming to Oahu if you don’t make plans to visit Pearl Harbor. Please be respectful. Turn off the ringers on you phones. Clear bags only. Self guide is free. Opt for the guided tour. It’s an amazing experience.

Loved that I finally got to see history. It was a nice place to see where the final resting place of USS Arizona is and watch short video, able to buy souvenirs and walk the grounds of this national park.

  • 5/5 Noelle P. 2 years ago on Google
Highly recommend the audio by Jamie Lee Curtis who is the narrator of this outstanding walk through the Pearl Harbor site before loading onto the boat to go the Arizona Memorial. Survivors along with Curtis describe the events of the day as well as how they felt from their personal vantage point all over the harbor. They describe in great detail the tragedy everyone experienced. This is a moving experience from the outside to listen and read as you walk from area to area.

Pearl Harbor is a must see. We bought our Arizona tickets the day before at 3pm and a passport for the rest onsite. Make sure you're logged in a few minutes before, tickets are gone within seconds. Look over the edge of the Missouri and you'll likely see turtles. The food across from the Missouri is really good! The shave ice was a nice treat on a hot day. You aren't allowed to bring in any bags but we carried our things through and then bought a reusable bag at the gift shop for $3 to carry phone/waterbottle/charger etc.

  • 5/5 David B. 1 year ago on Google
The Pearl Harbor Bus Tour was an unexpected gem of a tour.   This tour presents a less common and perhaps more balanced perspective regarding the events of the attack on Oahu the day of December 7th, 1941.  Our NPS Ranger and tour guide, Jason, was very knowledgeable, articulate, and passionate about the factual history of what transpired with the Utah and the Oklahoma as well as other important and lesser‐known ships and the crew members who were lost that day.  Jason's compassion for the lost servicemen was incredibly moving and his presentation was captivating.   If you visit Pearl Harbor, please consider this amazing, no-cost 90-minute tour (service fee of $1 per ticket).

No hassle entry to an emotional memorial. There’s an amazing walk through museum accessible to all who enter. There’s also the paid museum with access to the submarine. There is a small food and drink shop and a small gift shop. The views from the memorials are exactly as you’d imagine. Make sure you bring clear bag only, or not you can bring anything with wallet size only.

  • 4/5 Lauren W. 8 months ago on Google
Beautiful memorial and powerful experience. We accidentally did the boat ride to the Arizona memorial before going through the museum, I would recommend going through the museum first so it is more significant. NOTE: they do NOT allow any bags in and it is $7 to check a bag! Wish I had known this beforehand because we had to walk all the way back to the car in the rain

  • 5/5 Brandt C. 8 months ago on Google
We went on the weekend, and we were able to get on standby. We got in line at 7:30, the first boat went out at 8:00, and the standby line was a little long so we didn’t get on until the 8:15 boat—not bad! The Arizona is at eternal rest and tells her story of that fateful day in silence. It is moving and extremely educational. I recommend that you watch the several movies put together that explain the tensions leading into the event and the happenings during and after the invasion. The memorial visit is free, however, the parking is $7. Also, no handbags or dogs are allowed. You can carry clear bags into the memorial.

  • 5/5 Thierry H. 8 months ago on Google
I recommend planning your visit well in advance and looking at what you want to do. Even if it says you can do many things for free, it's worth looking at the paid tours. We visited the aviation museum and it was well worth it. If you go to the aviation museum, you can try the simulator for 10$ No bags allowed on site. None whatsoever. Lots of walking.

  • 5/5 Mika L. 8 months ago on Google
Such an iconic piece of American history. First off, general entry is free but you're limited to what you can see so do yourself a favor and buy the passes to visit the battleship Missouri, the aviation museum, the submarine and the USS Arizona memorial. Plan to spend the better part of the day here as there is a lot to see and I don't recommend being rushed. Lunch is best at the food truck ish cafe near the main entrance. The USS Arizona memorial is just that - a memorial. Please dress and act respectfully.

  • 5/5 Christian J. 8 months ago on Google
We visited the museums (excellent exhibits) as well as the Arizona memorial. You definitely need to purchase your tickets many weeks/months early if you want to visit the USS Arizona (only $1 per person) to guarantee a spot on the boat. For the rest of the exhibits you're likely not going to have any trouble getting in. Allow 90 minutes to view all exhibits, if you're like me and enjoy reading every single thing.

  • 5/5 Vini R. 8 months ago on Google
What a humbling experience this is! A must-go when in Oahu. We arrived 08am, visited the USS Missouri where I was surprised to learn that was the place where the Japanese delegation signed their surrender closing the WWII. Gave me the chills then I learned that. Then, we went to the Aviation museum and Hangar 79 where you can still see bullet wholes in the windows from that tragic December 7th, 1941. Had a quick lunch there. Blue Angel burger was very tasty. Then, to the Submarine museum. We saw the WWII part only because we had tickets for USS Arizona at 03 pm so we thought we would have time to return but we did not. USS Arizona you can see from above. Sad to think many of the fallen soldiers’ bodies were never found/taken from there. The explosion was so big that one of the anchors was found yards away from the wreck. There are also very nice exhibitions with videos, uniforms and a lot of information. I would recommend audio guides and the free tour guide too. I like to go into details so I could not finish everything I wanted to see arriving 08am and leaving 05pm. You cannot bring bag unless it is transparrent and approved by them. You can transit with water only in your hands. No food. Do not forget to pay for the parking. 7 dollars a day and you do that there at kiosk or via QR-code. No need to reserve that. I bought the passport to have access to all parts.

Visited on Veteran's Day . Visiting Pearl Harbor is a solemn and educational experience, offering a chance to honor those who lost their lives during the attack in 1941. Take time to explore the USS Arizona Memorial and other historic sites, reflecting on the significance of this pivotal moment in history. It's amazing that oil still comes up from the ship after so many years.

Overall experience in Pearl Harbor Historic Sites is great. We had a pleasant experience at USS Arizona remembering and honoring those who sacrificed their lives for the freedom that we enjoy today. A solemn reminder that freedom is not free.

Beautiful place for sure but you need a whole day to be able to enjoy it to the fullest. Aviation and battleship Missouri requires to take a shuttle to the respective museums and it takes a bit for you to get there and back. So don't try to cover it in a few hours or you will be left unfulfilled. Every place is amazing in itself with loads of history and life lessons. Submarine humbles you for the challenges people serving have to undertake. Tiny bunks and an enormous vessel. All in all, a MUST visit to know the tragedy and still feel the effects of it.

  • 5/5 Aaron R. 4 months ago on Google
I’m of the opinion that everyone should make an attempt to visit this place at least once in their lives. The Bombing of Pearl Harbor was a significant part of our country’s history; the people who worked and died that day deserve some acknowledgement and respect. It was very informative with all the placards, displays, and short films. Seeing the wall of names-all the people who died that day-is pretty sobering.

  • 5/5 Mrs C. 5 months ago on Google
Clean, beautiful, interesting. I would say you need to make this an all day trip since there is so much to see and read in order to understand the history of Pearl Harbor. Would love to go back some day and take my children here (I guess I took one since I was pregnant at the time of visiting this place).
