I would give this botanical garden 4 stars for its potential, but in its current state this is a 3. I wish it had more plants. As others have stated it’s more of an open space picnic park than a botanical garden and there is a lot of trash. The shade and the soothing sounds of rushing water are the highlights here, however, the presence of broken glass and trash quickly mar that experience. If a botanical garden is what you’re looking for- My suggestion is to visit Foster Botanical Garden across the freeway and supplement your visit with a visit here at the end. My hope is this park can be cleaned up and better fit the quality Queen Liliʻuokalani’s memory deserves.

It's really small. Great to walk through if you are heading somewhere near here anyways, but it's not worth driving out to. Good picnic spot though. No dogs allowed which is a bummer, but I get it since it's technically a botanical garden. Would make a better park though. That open shaded area would be great to play fetch with a dog.

Beautiful park with lots of greenery, grassy areas. Nice sounds of a waterfall after a rainy day in the background.

Waterfalls in the city?? You won't believe you're in Honolulu! This is one of my fave go-tos for sanity(live nearby). Beautiful urban garden and a hidden gem. If you're visiting and love trees, check out this FREE botanical park. Esp if you're visiting Foster's bot garden (right across the highway), then you should def make a stop here. Free parking (!) Is on N. Kuakini street. Then it's a lovely path along a gorgeous stream into a glen with magnificent trees!! The rushing water and canopy of branches cleanses the soul. It's an urban garden but you can still commune with nature here.

Lovely little spot in an urban environment. Limited parking, lucky to get a spot. The day I visited there was a volunteer stream cleanup crew. They pulled out a propane tank, mattress, more. Thankful for them caring for a small green space treasure. Also there was a possibly homeless person yelling expletives on the banks. Sad, but not surprising in Honolulu.

In the heart of the bustling city lies a serene garden adorned with a beautiful waterfall. Wheelchair-accessible sidewalks and a bridge enhance its accessibility. However, during our visit, the tranquility was marred by litter in the stream, and we encountered a homeless man utilizing the waterfall for washing his clothes, and taking shelter under the bridge. His behavior caused discomfort as he passed by with his hands in his pants rubbing himself- deterring us from using the available picnic tables and cut our visit short.

Beautiful park, but no open bathrooms . Hard place to visit if you don't live across the street. Drove from Waianae, but didn't have a place for me or my young kids to pee once we arrived. Lots of shade, room to run.

More of a garden park than a botanical garden, this is a small slice of green in the middle of concrete and asphalt. Peaceful. Relatively clean, considering the local homeless populations that surround the city. There are a couple of picnic tables where one can sit and read or eat and such. Currently, due to coronavirus, the bathrooms are closed… A small car park, too.

This Botanic Garden was very small, and most of its plants were unlabeled. It does make for a short, pleasant walk (don't bring your pets). The best part is the knowledgeable and friendly caretaker we ran into there, who knows much about the plants there. But the garden needs more plants, and especially informative labels.

Tranquility and Serenity...A beautiful place to have a lunch or snack as you watch the water fall stream.. This once was Lili'uokalani private garden.

Queen Lili uokalani Botanical Garden is one of my favorite gardens in Honolulu. I bring ALL of my mainland and international visitors here. It is away from highway and street traffic, although you can hear vehicles in the distance. The refreshing running river water has a special way to quiet traffic and replace it with the beautiful, natural sounds of nature. Occasionally, a flock of parrots fly through and around the gardens. It's a tranquil, relaxing spot with ample Monkey Pod tree cover and usually gentle breezes visit and cool this green Hawaiian oasis especially during hot summer days.

The scenery is pretty with its trees and its stream, but it's very small and on one side all you can see is a residential building.

A quaint botanical garden with a cute waterfall at the end of the "trail". Free parking and lots of shade. Many beautiful plants along the way, wheelchair accessible as well. Homeless people do frequent some parts but are always kind and mind their business.

It is easy to see why this was a favorite place of the last reigning Queen of Hawai'i! The water runs over the falls under the huge trees that shade the sweeping lawns in this park! Beautiful, restful and memorable!

Update: 08/03/2023 Mom and I come herein the mornings to this beautiful garden. We love walking from the kuakini street entrance and exiting at school street. There is the cooling greens, flowers and vegetation along side relaxing flowing water scape sounds. Mornings at 9 am mr. Wong is practicing taichi with the group, absorbing the zen energy of the forest. Alex is the curator and caretaker of the queens garden. He has been carefully collecting and displaying native Hawaiian plants for over 15 years. Thank you so much for displaying the names and information of the different native Hawaiian plants. Learning something new every day.—————————- Gate closes at 5pm but 1 night they forgot to lock it and had a chance to walk around. Love the QR codes to get info on Hawaii plants. Lush green grass with stream river rushing water sounds adjacent to walking path. So relaxing and a nice spot to keep in touch with nature. Praying mantis,, purple flowers,, mushrooms,, ferns,, green grass and so much more! Located between kuakini street and school street. Check out my photos!

You can’t say this is a botanical garden at all. It is area between housing and buildings. Pretty place still but not a botanical garden. I looked for a botanical garden and Google took me there 🤦🏻‍♀️

A nice quiet place in the city to have lunch and parking is free one gate that closes at night. There are restrooms and a path to walk through the gardens coming out on the other side where there's a little waterfall. Different people have come lying These are just walk through. There are plants there with identification tags naming the trees shrubs flowers and other plants in Hawaiian and scientific Latin names.

Nice quiet park full of large mature trees which give plenty of shade. Small stream comes to a rock formation and becomes a waterfall. Very pretty!

First, the two restrooms on the grounds are both locked up tight. There are homeless living all along the creek. The neighborhood is shady. And the "Botanical Garden" is basically a park. It'd be a good place maybe for a picnic or to toss a frisbee because the lawn is well maintained, and the creek and small falls is pretty, but really all it is is a neighborhood park. Definitely not what I was expecting.

Pavement is alittle uneven and can be muddy in the grassy area. Very nice park for a picnic, restrooms are towards the end whenyou come down the ramp. Can also come in from the nearby neighborhood. Came here multiple times and always loved it. Cute little spot to have lunch and quiet time.

Surprisingly cute spot for being such a small garden in the middle of a neighborhood. Not many flowers but lots of plants.

The Queen's garden is worth visiting due to it's greenery and photo op backdrop. A must for family portraits or high school senior portraits. The stream is decent and the mini waterfall is relaxing to hear. CON: There are minor graffiti and a few homeless people live there. As long as you don't bother them, they won't bother you.

More like a park than gardens but still worth the time.

Nestled in the heart of Honolulu, this is an ideal place to slow down the pace of city life by taking some time to enjoy the natural relaxation that nature has to offer. This place offers a short hill walk, tons of monkey pod tree shade, luscious green grass, and even the soothing sound of a stream and waterfall. What more does one on an island need? The only improvement this place could use is a parking lot repaving. Otherwise, it would have earned 5 stars! :)

Beautiful place full of plants, if you want to stop and take photos on the road just park your car at a designated parking lot and walk on the road directly! It is free so don’t miss out on it. Don’t be shy to ask the staff at the first parking lot where to go and for advice, they are really friendly.
