Super underrated park on the south shore. Way less crowded than Ala Moana and plenty of picnic and shaded bench areas to sit and relax. Flies is an awesome surf break, less crowded than alamoana bowls on the other side of the channel. There are also bathroom facilities and plenty of parking.

A nice waterfront park where you can walk, run, bike, skate, swim, surf, or just have a nice sit and enjoy the sounds of the surrounding nature. The park could be maintained a bit better as there are areas where trash has accumulated. There are plenty of stray chicken and cats too. The great part is there is a decent amount of parking and it’s free. So if you want to enjoy some near or in ocean time, this is a great area for that.

Wow, that's a long thread. Lord I suffered through the years and shed so many tears. The water as pristine as the lense toward heaven. Merriwether himself may have wanted to live again. I know Melancholy and it laid The blanket of what that smile feels like over my deepest frown. That water took a heart that had surrendered only to defeat and led it toward a different path. Surrender once again, my soul, my body, and my mind, burn them if you must, because you must and I can accept that. To repent is good, God said that, but to repent without that fire, is to simply find rest. That was not the path I saw that day. No, Victory is what I saw that day, no matter the cost. Because for that victory, there is no price that is too high, there is no pain too immense. That Win that lifts the true victorious ones to a place that only they deserve. That path was The Innocence path. The Victory for The Innocent. 🙃 How sweet it will be.

Nice place away from the hustle and Buzz of the Waikiki tourism. Not a cushy beach, but a stunning place for wedding photography during sunset.

I used to live in Salt Kakaako, so this was my home park. Absolutely gorgeous place. You can do pretty much anything here: snorkeling, watching sunset, surf/foil...feeding chickens if you adore them 🐥

Well up kept, nice amenities, peaceful area. Great views, 360 from the hills you can see the beach, the city skyline, the mountains, and the rest of south shore. Park closes at 7 however, I would recommend abiding by that because after the sun sets, my friends and I were the only ones left and we encountered some deranged, mentally ill psychos who were obviously on drugs. The park security needs to be on alert after that time to ensure everyone is getting out safely. Other than that, lovely park.

This used to be a beautiful park and still is but they City and County of Hawaii let it go. The grass is super dry and the homeless are every where. You can't get away from the issues that come with security and safety

We've gone to walk a few times. Had picnic dinner once. Sunset view is alright. A couple outdoor showers. We did not go in the ocean since there's no sand and our kids are young. Would be nice to have a playground or some exercise equipment.

Really nice place to spend the last day on my trip to visit my sister. Really great daytime drawing spot (you gotta reserve shade early in the day if you want it though), perfect waves and water temp, there’s a bathroom and outdoor showers, and a good spot for a nighttime fire too ! just gotta be quiet as sometimes people camp out here.

Nestled along the stunning shoreline, Kaka’ako Waterfront Park offers a coastal haven that’s sure to captivate visitors seeking relaxation and aquatic fun. With its expansive space and inviting waters, the park earns a solid 4 out of 5 rating for its mix of recreational opportunities and natural beauty. The park’s main highlight is undoubtedly its spacious area for swimming. The waves here can be quite impressive, creating an exhilarating experience for those looking to take a dip. The relatively large size of the park’s swimming area ensures that visitors have ample space to enjoy the water without feeling overcrowded. Whether you’re a casual swimmer or a water enthusiast, the waves offer a refreshing escape from the city’s hustle and bustle. Beyond the inviting waters, the park’s waterfront promenade provides a picturesque setting to soak in the sunset and the passing aircraft. The well-constructed embankment offers a comfortable space to sit, relax, and take in the panoramic views. The tranquil ambiance combined with the sight of the sun dipping below the horizon creates a serene and memorable atmosphere. It’s worth noting, however, that the sizeable waves might not be suitable for all swimmers, especially those who prefer calmer waters. While the park offers a unique swimming experience, it’s important to exercise caution and adhere to safety guidelines, especially if you’re not accustomed to swimming in larger waves. In summary, Kaka’ako Waterfront Park earns a commendable 4 out of 5 rating for its spacious swimming area, impressive waves, and the opportunity to enjoy both sunset views and aircraft watching from its scenic embankment. While the strong waves might not cater to everyone’s preferences, the park undoubtedly offers a refreshing coastal escape for those seeking an active yet relaxing day by the water’s edge.

You must check it all out. Great place to see whales between November-March, and a lovely place to watch sunset. There is definitely more than meets the eye. The parking is free, but does have closing. Hours where the gates lock. Don't get locked in. 😉

Great little park in the heart of Kaka’ako. Lots of paved trails to walk with excellent views of the ocean. Plenty of shaded areas to sit and enjoy the water. Dog friendly!

This is a great place to go to catch an unobstructed (unless a boat 🚢 floats by) view of the sunset. There's a restroom and a shower for people that want to take a dive off the rocks. There are also lots of stray cats that are in the rock area.

This was a substitute stop on our bus tour and I'm so glad we stopped. We stopped here early evening before the sun was ready to set. If you're looking for a place to just listen to the sound of the waves and enjoy natural artwork this is the place to sit and mediate. You can also capture some amazing photos and one of the best things about here is, it's free. You can also go jogging here as there is a paved pathway. -Aloha

Nice quiet spot for a picnic or watching the sunset. Unfortunately there is often a lot of party poppers and other trash I pick up on my runs in the mornings. I wonder how much of it ends up in the ocean. Please clean up after you host an event - trashcans are readily available.

I’m quite surprised that this park has such raving reviews. I’m not a BIG fan of coming here. (Rather than sand along the shoreline it’s pretty much just rocks- which is fine a nice break from the sandy beaches!) But the BIG issue is the excessive amounts of stray cats and homeless here. This is especially true by the area at the “point park” circle area. It’s a pretty small overall area the walking paths cover and I like to go for runs here sometimes, but the amount of stray cats (>40) can be discouraging from passing through certain areas and so on. Parking is nice- a big lot with plenty of room- never had an issue with it being too full. Pretty standard public park restrooms. A nice place to watch the sunset, but they do close the parking lot gates at 7pm sharp.

Good size park with fun waves but needs a good size swell to get going.

The views are amazing! Plenty of areas for exercise, running, walking your furry baby, fishing or if you just wanna lay out a blanket and relax! The best, however, is taking a swim in the water corner. That's what I call it😌

Along the lengthy curve of the coastline of the Pacific Ocean, Honolulu, Hawaii possesses countless sandy beaches and waterfront parks with different scenery. Kakaako Waterfront Park is one of them, having splendid views of the bluish oceanic water, anchored oceangoing cargos, parachuting, surfing, fishing, Mount Diamond Head, and downtown modern high rise buildings.

It's kind of buggy, but there is a really nice trail and good views, it's never too busy and there's a cool staircase down to the water. Highly recommend for a sunset
