Pros: - perfect location if you want to walk everywhere including Waikiki Beach and all the shopping and restaurants (but my fav things off the beaten path are Queens Beach, Aquarium, Maguro spot for $5 bowls, and Barefoot Beach Cafe for quiet charming beach side bar and grill right on the water!). - super nice staff/friendly/smiley and do a great job with a simple older property - wowie free guest laundry this was amazing -deep old fashioned bath tub for soaking, nothing fancy but great for taking a bath! - nice Keurig coffee bar, abundant - book exchange shelf, snacks sometimes in lobby, and cheap vending machines. Cons: - the big one for me is noise, and if you've ever stayed on Waikiki you know this is an issue almost everywhere -- but bc this hotel is older the old style and louvered windows let in all the street and city noise, plus there is a karaoke bar on the first floor of the hotel which could be heard clearly in the top floor rooms. - realistically it's a bit run down, but fairly clean for being a sort of DIY fixed up older property. Overall, I recommend it if you're on a budget and don't mind noise, and have realistic expectations. One step above a hostel, since the rooms are private and ensuite, but think similar standards.

The hotel is a little dated and it is loud outside because it is in the party area of town, but it is absolutely the best service around. The staff really takes care of you and gives you free towels/floated and will help you out the best you can. They also have a storage area for your bags if you check out early and fly late. Had a great stay!

Pictures are photo shopped. Don't be fooled by these. Room was really, really smelly. Couldn't open balcony door as it would come off the rails. Bed was saggy each side where person slept. No cupboards or drawers to unpack. Bathroom when you turned the shower on in the bath (yes bath), the bath tap would come on with hot water. No way to turn it off and no plug. So very noisy, no cups, glasses for drinks. There was a wardrobe, with a couple of hangers but the doors wouldn't shut. The curtains were too short for the windows. This place even arranged the room to be bug sprayed whilst we were there. Definitely wouldn't return to this place!!!!!!!!!! Only upside was close to the beach. I asked to review room before checking in but was told no I couldn't, should of been a warning sign then. 😖. DO NOT STAY HERE!

Location is really good but thats where the good news ends. Should not be listed as 3 stars. Rooms were tiny and not clean. Window shades were disgusting and covered in brown stains. Ac was running before we even entered and room was still 80+. Bed frame was seemingly built out of 2x4s and also broken. Bathroom was the size of a small closet. Within minutes of sitting, my fiance and I were both itchy. I cant comment on service because within 30 minutes of checking in we cancelled the rest of the reservation and went elsewhere. For the same price we got rooms that were twice the size and actually clean elsewhere.

This was the first time I ever requested for an earlier check out because of safety and cleanliness concerns. The hotel is conveniently close to Waikiki beach, but the hotel room was very dirty and misleading. The curtains, pillows and mattress had big brown stains. The window coverings had some parts cut open which affected the privacy of the room. The flooring was carpet and the carpets was extremely dirty. Thankfully we were able to raise our concerns with Expedia and they were able to allow us to check out earlier and switch hotels. We expected a safe and clean hotel room, but it was far from that. It felt worse than a hostel and I did not feel safe sleeping in the room at night, as if someone can come in. There was no safety deposit as well which we found odd. We were extremely dissatisfied with our short stay at Stay Hotel

Definitely a budget hotel. Very old and run-down. We could not adjust the temperature on the a/c. The tv remote was finicky. Carpet stains everywhere. I would not stay here again. I canceled reservations at another hotel for this one. Worst decision ever. Stay at your own risk.

We stayed here for a little over 2 weeks while waiting for our apartment to be ready for move in. This was a comfortable home away from home and only one street away from the beach! Our balcony also had a nice view of the ocean. The staff was always so nice and helpful. I especially want to thank Jocelyn and the gentleman with glasses who works the morning shifts at the front desk (sorry I forgot your name) for your hospitality. This is a great option if you're staying in the area without a car and want a comfortable, affordable place to stay next to the beach. We're very grateful and enjoyed our stay.

Overall, a great place to stay on a budget. However, tonight we wanted to stay there and since our IDs were stolen weeks ago and we have not received our new ones, the manager would not let us stay again although they have photocopies of our originals and I have pictures of them on my phone. Please do not stay here. This is not the way true Hawaiians behave. We in Hawaii are very loving and comforting people who welcome you no matter what the situation. We will at least try on our behalf as fellow human beings to make sure that you have the best experience possible while you're here. We do know for sure that they will not attempt to give you the best experience that you could possibly have while you're here. In our opinion, the Stay hotel is something that you should avoid. At ALL COSTS...... AVOID!!!!!!!!!! Timothy Todd Crenshaw. Mahalo

Prices reflect the rooms but the staff is horrible and rude. The lady in fake Chanel needed to know my gf’s ethnicity to get a parking spot (??) and other guy can’t really speak English.

The distance to the beach and the price could not be beat. We stayed 8 nights in August 2022. The AC was working, the shower had hot water, and the bed was comfortable to us. If you are a light sleeper, do NOT stay here. The photos on multiple websites had us convinced we’d get a semi-decent room. Unfortunately, I’m sure only a few rooms have been upgraded to those shown on hotel booking websites. We had a room on the 7th floor. The room was tiny, the bed is closer to the floor, and the AC is a window unit also close to the ground. The bathroom was straight out of the 70s/80s. We had a desk, but no chair provided. We booked this room via Agoda and still had a resort fee to pay when we arrived at the hotel. The booking did mention this to us. Please take this into consideration when comparing pricing. Some positives of staying here were that it was close to the beach, close to bus stops that took us everywhere, had a filter water station in the lobby, had a Keurig for coffee, had a few tea options, and had a few inflatables to borrow to use at the beach. The bathroom had wall dispensers for hand washing and shampoo/body wash. As a few have mentioned, it did take multiple pushes to get soap/shampoo to come out. We didn’t have any issues with the AC. Since the bed and the AC unit were close to the floor it worked out fine. We also didn’t see any bugs like others have stated in the reviews. The room had a mini fridge that was clean and a smart TV that worked well for us. A big negative was that you could hear everything going on outside. The café/restaurant next to the hotel had live music until 10:30-11PM. From the room you could hear all the car and bus traffic. In the early morning you could hear all the delivery trucks arriving. In the room there wasn’t a dresser, so we kept most of our clothes in the suitcase. There also weren’t very many hangers to hang things. The hotel lacks parking. If you are renting a car, be ready to spend some time looking for a spot to park your car. We had a car for one night and spent almost 1.5 hours looking for a parking spot. The hotel was out of spots and gave us a list of locations. None of them had a spot for us. We ended up parking in one of the harbors. Overall, this was a good stay for us since the wifi worked well, the TV worked, the AC cooled, and we had a comfortable bed.

My friend and I stayed here from 11th-21st April it’s simple you get what you paid for. The rooms could do with a bit of upgrade but overall we really enjoyed our stay here so close to everything especially the beach. Very helpful staff doing their best to meet our needs, coffee ready to go every morning is a highlight. Thank you Stay Hotel

perfect location - therefore it can get noisy during the night and the garbage truck at 7AM will for sure wake you up since the windows are not soundproof. very nice and helpful staff. Amenity fee of 15usd per night is unnecessary - why not just include this to the room rate?! other than what I‘ve mentioned above - good basic hotel in the heart of waikiki, support the small hotels rather than spoil the big hotel chains!

I recently stay at the Stay Hotel Waikiki. The rooms are cheap and all I can say is… you get what you pay for. The room I got was TINY with two twin beds. I couldn’t even open the closet door because the bed was blocking it. They don’t tell you about the $15 a day amenities fee. I paid for parking in the tiniest garage ever. Total…$400 for 7 days. They have about 8-10 parking stalls that is usually taken up. But not by other hotel guest, from staff members and friends. When my boyfriend wanted to park, they either had to find the people who were parked in the stalls because they were either employees or friends of the employees! Also one of the front desk girls was so rude to my boyfriend, going as far as harassing him because he “didn’t look like a guest of the hotel”. She was a complete Karen! Giving him grief about parking his car in the PAID stall as a guest of the hotel! He was showing her that he had a key card , that he was allowed to be there and yet, she didn’t believe him and kept on pressing him and even followed him. This was absolutely discrimination. Our room was also located by the maids room? I’m on east cost time, so I was a bit jet lagged some days. The maids would all hang out, outside of the room just gossiping and laughing loudly at 8am in the morning right outside my room! They also didn’t listen when we told them, “no thank you” for the house keeping. They’ve actually just used their card and just open the door and come in. There water times when we were still getting dressed in the tiny room, and they would just open the door and come in. We would be shouting “no thank you!”. I would tell them to come back later and they would get so mad and ask what time, they were so pushy! They didn’t know that I speak filipino and understood what they were saying about me! It was so unprofessional!! Paid $996 for a room the size of a closet, $400 for parking that was a gamble whether you were able to park or not, and the staff were rude ! I only liked 3 front desk staff. They were so professional and nice! I would say good morning everytime I saw them. They were wonderful, and the short lady was the one who would help out with finding the people who parked the stalls and kick them out. She was very helpful and kind. But I would not stay here again. I mean, if your a solo traveler, with no car, doesn’t understand filipino and isn’t black. You’ll probably have a better time then we did.

They do not accept chime credit cards. Rooms are just ok if your lucky your room won't have the old writing or big gravity up on the ceiling. I suggest you call them before paying or confirming any itinerary and ask questions because you will lose your money, your lucky if u get a refund and this is coming from a local perspective.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! Worst experience I have ever had with a hotel. We flew here from Maui where we are having the fires, my friend and I both just lost our jobs on front street and we spend a lot of time in Lahaina, everyone we know no longer has a house, when checking in and seeing we from Maui she asked “is the address on file your current address, oops I mean was.” After she had already asked me if I had lost my home and I said I had not. It was insensitive and disrespectful to everyone that has. It took 30 minutes to check in, she took 4 phone calls while I stood there, one of which was to a friend telling them what she wanted for dinner. Ad advertised parking, there was no parking and the lady told us to drive down the road and there is a free parking lot with no gate that you can over night park in and when I asked if she meant by the zoo she told me no and that was too far away. We drove around for 3 HOURS looking for parking, we didn’t find a spot till almost 9 pm. When we went and asked her where the lot was and to show us on a map SHE SHOWED US THE ZOO PARKING LOT WHICH IS A PAID LOT THAT GETS LOCKED AT NIGHT, AFTER I HAD ASKED HER MULTIPLE TIMES IF THAT WAS WHAT SHE WAS TALKING ABOUT. Wasted our evening in Waikiki. On top of all that all the photos online showed balcony’s and a bed and a futon and a full sized bathroom. Our room we got put in has 2 twin beds in a 6’ x8’ room that was literally the size of a closet with only one window that had been sealed shut, that is a fire hazard! No bedside table, no ceiling light, just two twin beds and a moldy lamp and The bathroom was Not clean and had sand in it. even the lobby is not the same as the photos online, this was listed as a 3 star hotel and I have stayed in hostels nicer. It did not even come with blankets, when getting into bed I found a gross yellow stain on my sheets and hair in the bed that did not belong to my friend or I. The hotel was not able to do anything for us and said that they aren’t responsible for what is advertised online. The room smelled bad and was stuffy, the only source of airflow was the ac, was up all night with burning eyes and runny nose from the room. The people in the room next door to ours let us see what their room looked like and it was a full sized room that had two large beds and windows. Paid almost $200 to stay somewhere less clean than a hostel, on top of that they charged me a “restore fee” when I asked what that was for or if they had a pool or anything for the fee she said no but it was mandatory and she would give me a list of what it covers, on the list was free coffee in the lobby, newspaper’s in the lobby, and for there to be someone working the front desk. THOSE ARE ALL NORMAL PARTS OF A HOTEL THAT SHOULD NOT BE CHARGED AS A “restor fee” THIS IS SO FAR FROM A RESORT.

It is hot in the rooms. Rooms have window units but windows are not sealed or insulated so they do not cool at all. If you need a cool room to sleep, do not stay here. I prepaid and surprised to see additional charges added to my card. They add an $11 per night amenity fee but there are no amenities. I would change hotels if I could get my money back. Save yourself and your vacation, stay somewhere else. I picked this place because I was going to be out most of the day so if you have the same mindset, I would tell you to stay away. This was also a last minute booking so I thought I was getting a deal. I agree with other reviewers, rooms are dated.

I had an amazing experience at the Stay Hotel. The staff are amazing, I felt very comfortable. Carolyn was so accommodating and really nice to talk to! The location is amazing, in the middle of everything and only a block from the beach, really a hidden gem. That combined with the amazing staff, truly made it an amazing stay! Thank you!

I'll give it 3.5 stars. Location is excellent. The staff, especially the general manager, were so friendly & helpful. The room was clean & the bed was comfy. However, our room didn't look like the photos online which was a bit disappointing. And the only plug ins were on the far side of the room. But other than those 2 things we quite enjoyed our stay.

Loved the location and front desk staff were very accommodating and friendly. Fun, lively place with terrific views and old school style. Only reason not giving 5 stars was housekeeping is pretty much "do it yourself" Had to request clean sheets, borrow vacume and carry trash to can. Still highly recommend! Had a wonderful time!

This was a little different for me. I would normally stay in a different place but it wasn't available. Although quaint, it shows its age in the rooms and layout. But, it's quaint. The bed and mattresses is due for an upgrade. After 2 days, my back really felt it. But the worst is the noise at night. It has a karaoke bar on the first level that resonates throughout the entire hotel. Forget sleeping...at least until it closes. Otherwise not bad. Location is fantastic.

The rooms are old, but what do you expect for the price in the centre of the world’s most famous vacation beach zone? If you know Waikiki and don’t care about the ig status of your hotel… or are a first timer scared about the cost of visiting… I highly recommend. Amenities are also very nice considering a 16$ usd/day resort fee is absolutely the cheapest in Waikiki.

First, understand that Stay Hotel Waikiki is a '60s era 8 floor hotel that has been refreshed relatively recently, but offers incredible value and location. If you want a 4 star property, then go across the street to the Hyatt Regency and pay at least twice as much. I stayed in a single queen room on the 7th floor. Absolutely no complaints. Yes, the bathroom smelled slightly of a bleach based cleaning product (like someone mentioned in an earlier review,) but that quickly dissipated and I appreciated knowing that it was clean. The staff was super friendly and graciously accommodated my request at check-in for an upgrade from a two twin room. I would return to this property without any hesitation. P.S. The first floor karaoke bar, Wang Chung's, was described to me by a local Uber driver as one of the best karaoke bars on the island.

The staff are very friendly and efficient. There is even a. Karaoke Bar "Wang Chung" in the building. Which was a lot of fun. It was standing room only after the bar stools were all full on the Saturday night when I went there.

This place is kind of old and simple but it's perfectly located for Waikiki. Walk right to almost anything and you can't beat the price. The main desk girl is great she is very kind and helped us with a few things that wasn't her responsibility.

Manage your expectations! The location is one block from the beach so it really is excellent in that regard for the price. However, there is no parking so don't plan on driving here or anywhere in Waikiki 🙃 The rooms are quite small, and a little outdated. The bathroom is very, quaint and it gives college dorm living nixed with a hostel. I wanted to check out after the first night. But it sleeps well and the AC works well. We will give it one more night before deciding. The walls are thin and I can hear EVERY truck and car that passes by.

  • 3/5 Rebecca A. 2 years ago on Google
No parking on-site once we arrived. We had to find our own. The TV and the lights did not work in our room. Fine for a night if you don't spend any time in the room. It's close to Waikiki and the beach, which is a huge plus.

  • 3/5 Carlos M. 2 years ago on Google
TV didn't work, bathroom is outdated. Location is really close to the beach, so don't plan on relaxing in the room. AC works good. Microwave and fridge were good.

The worst hotel I ever seen the front desk lady was racist plus the manager. In short if you are black you are not welcomed in this hotel. Black people value your selfs look for some other places .

  • 2/5 Doug K. 2 years ago on Google
A ok, cute little hotel. But, the windows aren't full windows. They're slats... I've never seen anything like it. I thought it added to the charm until I realized they blocked no noise. I.e. when people left the club on the main floor late at night, you heard them. When trucks doing early morning deliveries drive by, you heard them. If you're staying here, bring ear plugs.

  • 5/5 James a. 1 year ago on Google
Seriously don’t understand all the negative reviews?! It’s $900 for a week literally less than a 1 minute walk to the beach. The hotel is nothing fancy but the staff are accommodating and really really friendly, they have a coffee bar provided for free. Free beach towels and inflatables to use! This isn’t the Marriot but it’s a lovely hotel with great staff and great amenities for a KILLER price.

  • 3/5 Teena T. 8 months ago on Google
The staff were courteous and kind; they make you feel at home. The rooms/the place itself needs renovation. Parking’s fcfs and it’s small. Everything is within walking distance but if you plan on driving, it’s a very busy street. Not for families with children, you can hear loud music from the bar around the corner and downstairs.

  • 3/5 Mark P. 8 months ago on Google
I couldn’t book online so I called and booked over the phone. Total for the night was $187; comparative to the $375-$400 for others nearby. The room is small. It is dated. It smells like warm bleach water. It was clean. You aren’t staying at the Ritz. One entire wall was windows which fold in on themselves; this means you will hear every single dump truck and loud girl exiting the karaoke bar downstairs. It’s not the worst; I think I still overpaid by $100/night, but you’re 3 blocks from the ocean in Waikiki so if you’re staying in your room you’re already doing it wrong. The TV didn’t have sound, the “desk” had no chair. When I asked the staff at 2am for a cup for water at the front desk, I was clearly interrupting her tinder socializing. I’d stay here again, maybe.

Nice little hotel not too far from Waikiki beach. I'll say 2 minutes to the beach. Also it close to 2/3 ABC store too. It can get pretty noisy at night from tourists that are walking along the strip, so if you are sensitive to noise, don't stay here. It good for me because it close to everything and all I need is a place to sleep with hot n cold shower

Horrible place for the money. The rooms are tiny, the bathroom are tiny, the amenities probably havent been update since they opened ! They have windows Ac units that smell moldy. I would just look somewhere else.

  • 3/5 Tiffany M. 1 year ago on Google
Staff were great and room was fair: clean white sheets and towels, but curtains were stained, blinds were broken, and painted (???) tile shower was peeling. For the price, it was satisfactory. Location is definitely downtown... Loud most of the night. If you want to sleep, this is not your place. Traffic noise, drunk people, outdoor bar with live musicians. The saving grace of the noise was the window AC unit running to help drown out the noise. Very close to Waikiki beach, but that's quite crowded.

  • 3/5 Max 1 year ago on Google
Location is fantastic, but the small room options are super tiny, TV didn't change channels, and parts seemed dirty. Bathroom was OK though. Stay here if you want somewhere cheap to stay near the beach and don't care much about the room quality.

Clean, basic accomodation in a great location. Easy to get to via bus from airport. Staff were very friendly. Free pod coffee in the mornings and beach towels provided. Would recommend if you can get room on discount, otherwise rather expensive for what you get.

If you get room 4, 7, or 8 on floors 2-4, be prepared for a tiiiiiny room with separate beds. You'll only get the single large bed if you're in other rooms. Also no couch, table, or extra chair. You do get a fridge and microwave still. There are openable slats instead of windows, and no full curtains, so bring a sleep mask for your eyes if you need that. Also sound from outside gets through easily. Tv turned on, but channel and volume couldn't be changed. Also one lamp didn't work. The bathroom is a bit dated, but good sized and works fine. Rooms are clean at least. Only a couple blocks from the beach, so prime location. Nice staff.

  • 3/5 Pamela F. 11 months ago on Google
This was a decent hotel for the price and we were happy to find it and get a room last minute for a week. You can't beat the location, right by the beach and tons of stores and restaurants. The rooms were decent. The windows didn't fully close, which is probably why there were ants in the bathroom and you could hear every noise outside. The shades were a bit beat up and you couldn't adjust them to go up or down at all. Our room had 2 twin beds and 2 closets, a microwave and mini fridge. There were no dressers and only a handful of hangers. Parking was the worst part, there was never parking at the hotel available and we had to search around and pay a lot and walk for parking, but honestly if you're just staying in the Waikki area, you can walk anywhere you really need from here! The staff was very friendly and helpful! This was a good hotel for the price and location, since you're in Hawaii and not spending much time in the hotel anyway! No major complaints.

No internet. it is very noisy- could not sleep the whole night. Also they have white curtains- the sun wakes you up early in the morning. All in all it is not good at all. The price is too much for this quality.

The rooms are clean and the staff are friendly. The only trouble I had with the room was the blinds/windows. It's very different. Not in a bad way, I'm just not used to it. Lol some of them were broken and wouldn't open, so I guess I wasn't the only one. 9/10

My GF and I got the room because it was on priceline for cheap. The room was literally the size of a walkin closet. I'm not even kidding. It had two single person beds in it, a fridge and microwave and a 32 TV. The room was clean. We thought it was a safe part of Waikiki. We were wrong. I purchased a used moped and literally had it for less than 24 hours and it was stolen. I had it chained up to a post right infront of the hotel. I definitely don't blame the hotel. Just stating that it might not be the safest part of Waikiki. Overall it was OK for a short stay. Just wish my moped hadn't gotten stolen from right infront of the hotel. 😥

Two Stars for nice employees and LOCATION. Be prepared to stay in a super super Tiiiiiiiiiny room with a single bed and SO MUCH noise. Room with no desk or chairs. Super small! Not enough room for a single one check in luggage. Showers place also small.

There are pro's and con's like everywhere. Sadly, the rooms where very small and the walls paperthin. They do not have real windows. Thus, it seemed, that the garbagetruck was driving through the room. On the pro side, the staff was very helpful and the location is perfect for the price.

We booked hotel because of parking. Looks like they have limited parking. The receptionist gave us few addresses where they didn’t allow us to park. We spent 2 hours searching for parking near by. When I called to receptionist for help, she was very rude, offered for a refund at 8 in the night. Instead of helping she was asking me to leave hotel @8 in the night. This was our first trip in Honolulu. These ppl made it worst. Not recommended at all. Please don’t waste your money. Service is poor. Room quality is very poor as well. one of the lady was helpful, as I explained situation to her, she helped me arrange parking in one of the hotels. While returning back we encountered so many homeless and drunk ppl. I wasn’t feeling safe at all.

Pros: perfect location, Great price, Friendly staffs, great customer service, clean room clean bed sheets. Very convenient location. Only one con: very loud… Too loud. You can hear all the street noise, people noise, and live music from restaurants all night long.

Worst hotel experience ever! Once I walked into the room i felt like I’m in jail! Rooms are tiny, beds are so small and uncomfortable, ac is noisy! Very unpleasant Asian lady on the front desk, who would stare at you every time you’d pass by. On the check out day they called my room at 8:30 am!! to remind me that the check out is at 11!🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ Never got any good sleep or rest here either! Don’t ruin your vacation , just choose some place else
