The hotel itself is alright, the rooms are spacious and clean. Not nearly worth $610 they were charging for the nights we were there. But that’s not the problem with this hotel. What made us leave this hotel early after only one night is realizing that they keep multiple dolphins in a tiny pond. During the day the dolphins perform tricks and suck up to tourists and the rest of the day they circle around in this tiny hotel pond. For an animal that would normally live in the vast Pacific Ocean this must be pure torture. We do not support businesses that abuse animals and neither should anyone else. Don’t stay at this place if you care about animals.

Our Favorite Hotel so far in our tour of the Hawaiian islands, great location between the beach and a golf course, very quiet at night, so we've slept well! My wife loved seeing the dolphins and we were able to catch a great sunset and sunrise from the beach!

Very beautiful hotel in good location. Hotel has nice area with a lots on palms and trees. The beach is clean and not crowded, with no waves, perfect for families with little kids. Hotel is well maintained, with good restaurants and kitchen. We spent there our Honeymoon and happy that we choose this hotel. Would definitely recommend!

We came to Hawaii for our honeymoon, and our first stop was at the Kahala hotel. We also went up to the north shore and stayed at Turtle Bay, and then stayed at the Grand Hyatt in Kauai. The Hyatt and turtle bay were both EXCELLENT, but if we come back, we’re staying at Kahala. It was exactly what we were looking for. The hospitality and the service was top notch. The beach was private and peaceful. The food options were amazing. We were easily able to get to Pearl Harbor and Waikiki if we wanted to venture out. We booked through a travel agent and we’re eligible for a free upgrade to one of the beach front rooms which was amazing. I cannot recommend this hotel enough.

We got afternoon tea here. The service was really good. I was impressed with how they gave us the tea to smell before we chose one. The food was more mediocre. There were some pieces I liked a lot, but most of them I thought were just okay.

Very nice resort. The beach is fantastic and you can’t beat the ocean view. Pool is also nice. The rooms are a bit dated but comfy and large so plenty of room to unpack with the kids. Service is fantastic staff is very friendly.

This hotel was really nice and gave us such a pleasant stay. The room and bathroom were very spacious and the balcony was a nice touch (we had one facing the mountains instead of the beach but the added waterfall made that very pleasant). The grounds are beautiful and we loved watching the dolphins. We loved most the special gift they left on everyone’s doors on Christmas morning, was a really nice touch. Overall really recommend this place and would definitely come back!

The room we had when we arrived did not meet our expectations. I went to the front desk to express my concerns and Carolyn moved us to a different room, which was really nice! This is an awesome property with a very welcoming staff. It is odd to have full size vs queen size beds; there is plenty of room for queen size without the oversized night stand between beds. The hotel must have a reason; it’s just something I’ve never seen. Carolyn really saved the day!

Honestly the best resort we ever stayed at. Hotel was beautiful, the location was isolated from downtown Waikiki with its own quiet beach front, staff was amazing and friendly and for once, food at the resort was delicious (pricey but what do you expect from a 5-star resort). There were lots of families even with babies and the amenities being 24/7 is unheard of. Beds were comfy, the bathrooms had 2 separated sinks and there was a bidet! We will definitely be back.

Beautiful hotel with ample amenities! The rooms were spacious. We had two vanities and a heated toilet in our bathroom. The beach by the hotel is public but it almost feels private because there isn't a whole lot of people there. The premise was very clean and we always felt welcome. Would definitely stay again!

Classic and timeless Hawaiian luxury. The service is phenomenal and the food was amazing. Check out the Wall of Fame to see all the famous guests that have stayed here!! If you’re looking for a place without the noise and traffic of Waikiki, this is perfect. I look forward to coming back again.

First off, we didn't stay at the hotel. But, we did do the Dolphin Quest. It was amazing. At the end, they told us that we had access to all hotel ammenities, except the pool. We had plans to go to another beach, but decided to stay there, since we were told that it was included for the day. After about an hour and a half, a stout, dark haired employee with a mustache and beard, came over to us to tell us that we weren't welcome to use their chairs. Again, we were told that we were allowed. He was completely ignorant and rude to us. I understand that, in the end, the Dolphin Quest gave us bad information, however we certainly didn't deserve to get treated the way we got treated. We were humiliated. I asked for his name and he refused. We explained to him why we were there, and he told us we could pay $75 per day to rent the chairs. We had 5. We had already spent about $150 at his bar, where the drinks were completely watered down and overepriced. I understand the Dolphin Quest were partially at fault, which we told them, but again, we didn't deserve to be talked to that way and humiliated by the hotel employee. As a side note, after this happened, two separate people staying at the hotel came over to tell us that they were treated rudely by employees during their stay as well. I would never stay at this hotel if this is the way they treat people.

This resort proves the adage of, "The true sign of a five star resort is how they deal with mistakes". Long story short, there was an error with our rooms at check-in. We were to have an adjoining rooms for our kids, got here, and it didn't happen. I admit, I was not a happy camper that evening. The next morning, they fixed it and then some. Management made amends, got us situated, and have gone above and beyond making sure the frustration of the first night was wiped away. Absolutely incredible service at a beautiful resort. Mistakes happen at any level. How you fix them is a true sign of first class service, and this place has it. Not to mention - the property itself is absolutely gorgeous.

Celebrated our one year wedding anniversary at the Kahala last week. Incredible property and staff, the place has so much charm. We swam with the dolphins, relaxed by the pool, did yoga, and enjoyed an amazing spa day. Can’t wait to come back again.

Unfortunately, hotel let’s public use own property chairs despite a complaint pointing out to a large group of teenagers drinking, smoking weed and with a boombox right in front of the 1000$ plus beach front room…and they are NOT on the public beach, but on the hotel property 10 feet in front of the room. I guess it’s an insider who is letting some locals in. Not worth paying for a beachfront room, just get a cheaper room in main tower or better stay at any Four Seasons in Hawaii for a real upscale resort…

The Kahala Hotel & Resort has an AMAZING brunch. Friends told me that this was the best brunch they've had, not only on the island, but anywhere. It was extremely delicious with a beautiful view. I will definitely be returning when my daughters come for a visit.

We had an amazing experience at the resort. Top notch service! The rooms are a little old but still comfortable. Can’t beat the location. Kid friendly, too. It’s so great being an easy drive to Waikiki while also having a secluded beach. I hope we can get back again.

Wonderful stay at this beautiful secluded Honolulu resort. The rooms are spacious and modern and the large double closets are a special treat in these days when Hotel rooms get smaller and smaller and the prices get higher and higher. All the staff are wonderful from the front desk and concierge to the pool attendants and housekeeping staff. The beach is so close and easy to reach and totally swimmable if you opt not to use the pool and the dolphins make the resort even more special The restaurants are each unique and incredible and a good value. You really don't have to leave the resort for anything. Its perfect for couples or families and we can't wait to return.

The experience of shooting a wedding at The Kahala Hotel was amazing! It was very convenient for couples to be able to get ready, have their first look, their ceremony, and reception on hotel grounds. They didn't have to think of travel and being able to manage the time easily was a dream for us. The hotel is gorgeous and the staff was so helpful. Our team at HNL Studios loves shooting here and we're excited to go back!

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. It sounds like you are disappointed with the hotel's quality, facilities, and service compared to other five-star hotels you have stayed at in the past. It also seems that the hotel lacks consideration for accessibility, such as the lack of an elevator in the parking area, which makes it difficult for wheelchair users or individuals with strollers to access the lobby. Additionally, the daily parking fee of $40 adds to the frustration. It's unfortunate to hear that this particular hotel has a strict non-refundable and non-changeable policy, which means guests are obligated to stay for the entire duration once checked in, regardless of any unforeseen circumstances or the desire to leave earlier. I apologize that this trip to Hawaii has been your least enjoyable experience out of the four visits.

We stayed 5 nights. The hospitality from the staff was amazing. Everyone on the staff that we interacted with was helpful and very polite. Located just outside of Waikiki was nice for being away from the crowds. The beach here is beautiful and very easily accessible. The hotel itself could use updating. Exterior is definitely showing some wear and could say the same about the room carpets and tile definitely showing their age. But the size of the room was nice. Overall great location and hospitality.

This hotel was beyond my expectations! It's absolutely amazing location and beautiful views. My wife and I spent 8 nights here for a delayed honeymoon, and every day, we were just thankful that we chose to stay there over the million options in Waikiki. Quiet, luxurious, and spacious rooms with direct access to a nice Kahala beach. Oh, and also, the breakfast at the Plumeria (one of their restaurants) is absolutely worth trying.

Overall a mixed experience. The location was absolutely beautiful and the water was crystal clear. The restaurants had above average quality of food but options were limited and they were not open during several of the nights leaving us stuck several times to the point we had to order take out. The seafood buffet was lacking fresh high quality seafood. The overall staff was pleasant but not overly welcoming and warm. The bartenders at the pool bar were generally rude and cold. The cleanliness was lacking as well. Many days we would see trash sitting outside of rooms for 18+ house and the trash cans on the lawn area overflowing with garbage at all times of the day. The dolphins are beautiful but they are confined to 3 connecting ponds which feels tight and restrictive. It overall felt morally dirty and not very “5star” enjoying them in captivity. The beach itself cannot be beat as the water is very calm and there is a reef to snorkel right off the coast. I’d say skip the stay and come for the day.

The rooms, location and beach are the stars of this hotel! My room was an Ocean Front Lanai and the view was spectacular. The room was nicely appointment with a large bathroom, fantastic AC, comfortable bed and comfortable chairs on the lanai (with a sunrise view!). The beach is quiet but has great sand and water with turtles swimming out front. It’s nice to be away from the noise of Waikiki, but it’s only a 10 minute drive away. The service left something to be desired. I had lunch and drinks at the beach restaurant and while my water was constantly filled, the waiter was cold and somewhat absent. Not at all what I would expect. I would definitely come again to check it out with the family.

An absolutely wonderful experience, surprised to find such a wonderful hotel on Oahu, never felt crowded, wonderful staff, and delicious restaurants. Not noted in my guidebook, there is a Dolphin interactive experience on site. They are about to upgrade the rooms which were fine already. Shows an incredible attention to detail.

This was my first visit to Hawaii, and it was amazing! This resort made my experience great. Everything was done for me from booking reservations to different attractions, renting a car and all the lovely room service. There was not one staff member that I encountered that didn't speak or ask me how my day was. Everyone was very friendly. The rooms in my opinion were a little dated but it didn't deter from my experience. When I go back, I plan to stay here again. The restaurants offered a variety of foods and the service I received at each were top tier as well. Thank you Kahala!

Beautiful hotel right on the beach. Dolphins swimming around makes the atmosphere even more magical! The staff is very welcoming and accommodating from the moment you arrive. Great lunch, Sean was very personable and service was on point! Denise was a great bartender, she made great recommendations. We loved each cocktail she prepared and was very friendly. Overall a great experience. I highly recommend this place!

This place is worth to stay. Friendly staffs and quiet and extraordinary view in the room. Moreover, you could see dolphins and it would be good if you have children. The pool isn't good enough though. If separate pool for kids and adult would be good. Moreover, you could enjoy the room service with good quality foods.

Beautiful hotel with great views, above and beyond friendly staff, dolphins, and a beach. The outside looks very dated but the room was very nice. Sure, some more updates are needed as older but it's wonderful inside. Room is great and the lobby is pretty. The food by pool and drinks were great. The beach was nice and calm to swim but can't swim out too far and can't snorkel there. Staff again is so friendly and helpful and I wish we were staying longer. Loved the dolphins and walking by them. Our view was amazing. Hoku's is amazing and I'll be going back

Loved this hotel and resort. We had a mountain view lanai room. Spacious bathroom, nice bath tub, and very comfortable bed. The hotel is located off of the beaten path from Waikiki, which is exactly what we were looking for. They are beachfront. I believe valet costs the same as self parking. Dined at plumeria on Friday and Saturday, great service, wonderful selections for seafood and breakfast buffet. ALL staff was amazing. So kind and welcoming. Will be back.

Hotel itself is great. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Almost too nice for a beach hotel. Had connecting rooms and they were perfect. The mountain view is a good view because of the golf course on the back side. Many food options in the hotel and more about a mile away. Very quiet residential neighborhood.

I truly wish I could give them more than 5 stars! From start to finish, Grace and her team gave my daughter the quinceañera of her dreams. We had rented the Wallace ball for the event and Grace Chan was beyond helpful, prompt, and knowledgeable with planning the event. The venue is breathtaking, the service was spectacular, and the food was exquisite. There wasn’t one guest I had that didn’t tell me that they enjoyed everything the event had to offer. The night started and ended perfectly. I am beyond happy with my experience, also pricing was very fair and manageable. I highly recommend having an event at the Kahala Resort.

Our family booked our stay at the Kahala Hotel and Resort through Donna Bender of MauiCalls. Donna was fabulous to work with. She was kind, professional and extremely knowledgeable. We knew we wanted to go to Oahu, but that was about it. Donna's extensive knowledge of the island and the various resorts helped us to choose a resort that best fit our family needs. We wanted something beautiful, relaxing, and off the beaten path. The Kahala was exactly what we needed! The Kahala was quiet and immaculately clean. Our children spent hours at the pool every day and it was not difficult to find a place to sit. Afternoons were spent swimming to the dock in the ocean. We loved the food at the buffet, and my husband and I both utilized the exercise and sauna facilities daily. They were clean and uncrowded. The staff at the Kahala were top notch. One night, our young child woke up with a fever in the middle of the night. The night manager went out of her way to open up the sundry store so we could go in and get medicine for her. My daughters loved watching the dolphins at the resort, and our older one even had a chance to pet them. When we wanted to explore the island and eat outside of the resort, Donna's "Local Girl’s Guide to Oahu" allowed us to find places that we never would have known about. She included great tips (where to park, how early to make reservations and which plates to order) the guide was all we needed! We absolutely recommend Donna Bender and the Kahala resort to anybody who wants a stress free trip to the island!

Beautiful hotel. Room was ready upon arrival at 12pm! Best location on the island. Calm private beach w lots of snorkeling and swimming space. Amazing service from every single person at the resort. Absolutely the most wonderful hotel. My children loved it as much as us adults did.

This hotel is absolutely wonderful. The grounds are beautiful, with easy access to the pool and beach steps from each other. There’s dolphins on site! You can view the ocean from almost every space on the property, which makes evening meals or drinks all the more lovely. But the true gem is the service. You will be well cared for from the moment you open your car door - and it’s all genuine hospitality. Nothing but good vibes and aloha here - cannot recommend enough.

Excellent staff. Kids love this place. Eating dinner on balcony/falling asleep ten feet from dolphins. Also this resort is non smoking and there’s no smoke coming from the outside in. I stayed somewhere in Waikiki and was destroyed by cigarette smoke every time I opened a window. Not here!! This is the best place on Oahu.

I stayed in their ocean front room with Lanai and the view was spectacular. Diamond head to my right and Kahala Beach straight ahead. Rooms are spacious and service is excellent. Hardly anyone on the beach. Beautiful and quiet resort away from the busy city.

If the Kahala Hotel actually thinks mandating their employees to get vaccinated will make folks go “Hooray” They’re gravely mistaken… I will not spend money at place that doesn’t value freedom of choice especially when it’s a medical decision… Spend your money on Business that stand for freedom. The Kahala Hotel & Resort is NOT one of those businesses…. Just Sayin…

When I stayed here for three nights a few weeks ago I loved it and I still do. Definitely one of the best resorts I’ve been to, there is no doubt about it. For its rooms, you know it’s getting a 5 out of 5 people. I love the spacious rooms, the bathrooms, even if it does feel dated it doesn’t take away from my enjoyment. For service, it continues to score a 5 out of 5. All of the staff are awesome and do more than what they’re expected to make our stay phenomenal. They even have door-to-door room service where they serve food and bring it into your own room, which is a very nice touch. The activities they have are enough to keep us on the property for most of our stay, so it definitely deserves the 5/5. The location drags its score down a little bit though. It gets a 4.5 out of 5, because even though I like the isolated nature of the hotel and its proximity to the beach, it’s not within walking distance of anything else. Most of the surrounding area is a residential area but it’s definitely not too far from the main part of the tourism. Other than that, everything else is awesome. The activities, the heated pool, the built-in gym, the nearby beach, even the atmosphere as a whole, there really isn’t a limit to what I can praise about the Kahala. While it doesn’t get a combined score of 15 out of 15, it scores a 14.5 out of 15, which is good enough let’s be honest. Absolutely one of the best I’ve been so far, though I probably won’t be coming back again due to its pricey amenities.

Bridesmaids and I recently had the opportunity to plan a bachelorette party for a group of 11 people at The Kahala Hotel in Hawaii. While the wedding itself was beautiful and the location highly reputable, I must say that the bachelorette party planning experience left much to be desired and was rather disappointing. I would like to share my feedback, highlighting some areas of concern. 1. Communication and Confirmation Delay: One of the most frustrating aspects was the time it took to confirm a simple lunch reservation for our group of 11 people. Despite several calls to follow up, it took almost two weeks to receive confirmation. This extended delay created unnecessary stress and uncertainty for us. Better internal communication could have prevented these issues and ensured a smoother planning process for our party. 2. Last-Minute Price Increase: Another point of concern was the attempt to raise the price for one of the planned activities just two days before the event. Our reservations were made well in advance - we reached out to The Kahala Hotel in early May and were provided with an approximate price for the activity on May 5th, a full 2 months before the actual event. Encountering a price increase so close to the event date seemed unprofessional. It would have been much better if any potential changes in prices had been communicated to us in a timely manner. The sudden price adjustment caught us off guard and added unnecessary stress. 3. Disruption During Bachelorette Party: During the bachelorette celebration, an unexpected network error on the hotel's end resulted in the bride being taken away from her party for two full hours. She had to wait in her room for IT staff to resolve the payment issue while others waited for her by the beach, not knowing what was happening. This unfortunate incident not only disrupted the festivities but also impacted the mood of those involved in the event. Moreover, the bride herself couldn't enjoy her own special day, which was disheartening. 4. Unpleasant Waiter: At the lunch event, there was a waiter who was also present at the wedding reception. He kept hovering and trying to take plates away, even when guests weren't finished with their meals or verbally asked him not to take them away. This behavior was annoying. I traveled to Hawaii for the wedding and enjoyed eating out at several places during my stay, but I did not encounter any other waiter with such an attitude elsewhere. Overall, I had expected a more elevated experience from such a reputable hotel. While the wedding itself was beautiful, the bachelorette party planning process detracted from the overall enjoyment of the occasion. As a result, some members of our group including myself, have expressed hesitancy in considering The Kahala Hotel's Yokohama location in Japan for any future events, despite it being in our hometown. In offering this feedback, I hope that The Kahala Hotel can use it constructively to improve their processes and ensure a smoother and more enjoyable experience for future guests and event planners. Thank you for taking your time to read my concerns.

Very nice hotel situated 10 min drive from the crowded Waikiki area. They have a nice dolphin pond and then private pool and then the beach (see the picture for reference). The verandah is a nice place to relax and enjoy it all. The fitness center is great and the locker rooms come with a steam room, sauna and jacuzzi. Really enjoyed my stay here. Only thing I would recommend for them is to add some variation to their daily breakfast buffet which gets monotonous if staying for 4-5 days

This is a gorgeous hotel, that give a bit of an old-school, historic vibe. I love how secluded and private this hotel is from Waikiki but still close enough to enjoy Honolulu. Honestly, just chilling by the dolphin pool is amazing. The food was super tasty, and had a decent range of options. I would love to come back here again.

Standard rooms are much larger than typical hotel rooms, and include a chaise, table and chairs, and plenty of room if you need a roll away bed. The bathrooms are surprisingly large with 2 large closets, soaking tub and separate shower. Resort amenities are nice and service is excellent. Parking is painful mid-day and pool area is small and gets crowded. Nice, quiet location. We would definitely stay again.

Beautiful Sandy beach. 4 hours complimentary valet parking. Great for a relaxing lunch, swimming, or watch sunset. In Addition, you can swim with the Dolphins and watch feeding after they follow hand signals showing off. Great with adults and family with kits.

For the price, location, and of course service, The Kahala goes above and beyond in making this slice of paradise feel like a true Hawaiian vacation. I have been once whilst my friends went back twice over. I can't wait to hear Aloha again from the lovely staff when I return.

My husband and I stayed at the Kahala during our recent trip to Oahu, and were beyond impressed with the service we received. Upon checking in, we met Carolyn who was an absolute delight and so kind to us. We laughed throughout the entire check in process! Sean from Seaside Grille was very kind and just easy to talk with. All staff members were incredibly conscious of Covid-19 and took extraordinary precautions. I would say my favorite thing about The Kahala though was the step-above they take for their guests. Mahalo, Kahala Hotel for an incredibly clean, well-cared for hotel room.

The Kahala Resort was by far the BEST hotel my husband and I have stayed at. From the moment you pull up in your car, they provide you with exceptional service and care. The grounds are perfectly maintained, from the dolphins to the private beach, and each of the four restaurants are beyond amazing. We met folks who have returned to this hotel several times during COVID alone, and I see why. We felt incredibly safe and clean the entire time -- they even do little things to calm your nerves such as sanitizing the pen you'll use right in front of you and taking your temperature before entering restaurants and upon checking in. I cannot say enough...just that when we go to Oahu, this is the only place we will stay.

What can I say? It's the Kahala. Famous with celebrities and the elite from all over. Worth a stay anytime. Even a visit if you're staying somewhere else. The beach is public and not too crowded.
