A great place to stay if you LOVE hearing motorcycles make their engines scream to 14,000 RPM & other cars trying to match the cacophony of sound at all hours of the night. The hotel really accommodates this experience by making sure the windows in the hallway are rusted in place and can’t be shut, even when you call the front desk and request them to be temporarily closed so they’ll help reduce the sound coming in from the street and reverberating against the walls. Another way they let the sound come in is through the balcony door. The door to the balcony *technically* closes, but just barely so it seems like. It still allows sounds to pour into the room from the street below. One positive thing is the air conditioning is cold, got the room to 64°🥶.

This hotel has everything you need. The staff is very accommodating and views are spectacular. Located right in a center of everything you will not want for anything. A very family friendly and smoke-free facility. This place is very professional and clean. I highly recommend with five stars. Times and days may change or vary for covid so you may want to check on this before hand.

The only downside to this hotel is the fact that the other Hilton options in the area are much nicer. My room appears to be fairly updated and the bed is comfy, so no real complaints. No acknowledgement of Diamond status and definitely no upgrades. If I was choosing again I would go to the nearby Embassy Suites for the free breakfast.

Don't waste your time. This was by far my worst Hilton experience ever. I checked out and checked back in 2 days later. Having to have security escort me and my family to our room was a first! Talking about the key machine was down. I asked housekeeping to let me in my room and she stated her key wasn't working. But how is that possible when she was in a room cleaning it?? Spend your money elsewhere! The staff were less than helpful and the hotel needs a refresh.

Great hotel, however too long of a wait time for the elevators (small elevators) and the escalator was non-functional adding to an even longer wait time just to get to the lobby. No bellhop services if you have early morning flights (4:30 am) and front desk services didn't bother to offer any other accommodation for assistance. Both restaurants I give a 5-star for service, food, and drinks. Lots of surrounding shops and restaurants, awesome location.

I have nothing bad to stay about this hotel. It was conveniently located in walking distance to most things. The mall was 1mi away, beach is a 10min walk. They give a bottles of water and delicious cookies during check-in. I also love the fact that checkout is at 12. I took a star off because I would have loved to have been able to use streaming services for entertainment while in the room.

I didn't think the rooms felt too dated. The bed was really comfortable to sleep in and they were able to provide a pack and play for my toddler. The staff was so helpful and it was easy to find someone to assist with our luggage or any questions about the hotel. As for the location, it's perfectly situated between a few major streets with major bus routes. There's also a laundry mat just around the block that's easy to use. Overall I think this is a great place to stay if you want someplace comfortable to sleep that is nicely located to tourist activities and bus lines. The only thing I wish the hotel had was a bigger fridge.

Today I checked out after staying 33 days in this hotel. My husband is a Diamond member so we’ve frequent plenty of Hilton hotels…this is by far our least favorite. First of all, this hotel needs serious updating. You can tell that it’s old, worn and barely hanging on. We had a suite and Housekeeping did a decent job, no complaints there. The room was older and many days we had no hot water. There was a musty smell throughout our suite and the bathroom had an unpleasant odor that didn’t seem to go away. We were unlucky and woke up to a bathroom leak from the room above us. It ruined most of my makeup/hygiene, but the hotel did have us a $50 credit. The dining(Trees Bar & Grill) was the most unfortunate part. They are so severely understaff that the manager had to help most days. The wait time for food is ridiculous and their prices were outrageous (especially the breakfast buffet). As diamond members, we get $36 dining credit. However, we can only use it at Trees Bar & Grill. It would be nice if the credit can apply to the refrigerated food/drinking or even Hiking Hawaii Cafe so we have other alternatives. Upon checking out, we realized we were overcharged in excess of a few hundred from the restaurant. It was a long morning trying to get it settled and we didn’t waver giving in, I think they double charged us on multiple occasions. We stood our ground and told them to pull out all the receipts to double check, the manager said it’ll take a few days and we said it was fine. They emailed us a few hours later and ultimately waived all of the charges (well, rightfully so). All in all, we won’t be coming back to this hotel and will warn incoming military families about this hotel. There’s just so many other quality hotels for the price that one is paying here. Also I need to add, there were a few employees here where you can tell they absolutely dread their job. For their privacy I wont include their name.

Our hotel stay, while only one night, was super nice. It’s in a great location - not exactly on the beach, but a quick walk to the beach. Restaurants and stores in walking distance, parking on site. The room was spacious and the beds comfortable. The breakfast buffet was a bit pricey, but the food was good and there was a lot to choose from, plus the wait staff were ON POINT! Before we got back to our table with the food, the juice and coffee was on the table waiting for us. Would definitely stay here again…and in fact, we are. We decided to cut our stay at a resort on the north end of the island by a night to stay closer to the airport (for a super early flight out) and booked another night at this hotel (just too bad we have to leave too early to enjoy the breakfast buffet).

This is a very old hotel. Cookies were fantastic. We noted that the more you pay for a hotel, the less you get. Parking was outrageous ($40+ per day). Internet was good. Cleaning was only every four days. Supplies like towels, coffee, cups, toilet paper were replaced only when you asked and that was a bit of a problem because who takes inventory at a hotel -- you expect them to keep you comfortable. Staff was good.

When I arrived the rug felt damp most likely due to humidity. My room had a nice sunset view. There is a sliding door for the restroom with no locks. There's a locked double door in the room so kids are not able to access next door. There's an adjustable shower head which is neat especially for those who are on the taller side. Also the room provides a Keurig machine with a few coffee pods (water not included) and a Playstation 3 (games not included). I did find the TV placement odd as I had a double bed and the TV was placed facing one bed instead of between. The pool lounge was neat and cute you have a nice view of a mini park. The pool was freezing cold def not a heated pool unless their system was down. There was also a mini gym with tinted windows but did not access it. However, I'm not sure if the tinted windows was from not seeing others outside or not because the windows were facing directly to the pool and I find it creepy if people were just watching others swim.

We stayed here twice on our vacation. Once before the cruise and then again after the cruise. I was able to book most of the trip with points. The first time we stayed here it was nice. The bed was uncomfortable, the room and hotel a little musty smell, but overall 2-3 stars. The second time started out rough. We got here around 9 am and requested early check in. The guys behind the counter was rude and didn’t at first want to look for any available rooms. Reluctantly he did and said I found you a room but since you are before check in I’m charging you $50 per room. Though the room had a partial ocean view it was still the same small and musty room as before. Asked for a late check out and was told they were oversold for tomorrow so I had to check out at noon. I guess Gold status means nothing at this hotel. Customer service here comes at a price and still it doesn’t come with a smile or politeness, just rudeness and not very helpful. Very disappointed. I guess when you have enough points for two rooms in Hawaii there must be a reason…hotel is old and is in need of remodeling. For Waikiki Beach I expected more. They charge you a $35 “resort” fee. This is not a resort. They have a small gym and pool. No beach access or beach related amenities. I guess they are changing you for the proximity to the beach and other resorts? Rethink staying here. Stay down the street at the Hilton Village. As they say, cheap is cheap!

Great place to stay. We stayed 9 nights. The hotel is clean, up to date and the staff is friendly and accommodating. Coffee in the lobby is better than most hotel coffees . Our room had views of the ocean, the very top of Diamond Head, Mountain View’s and views of downtown Waikiki. This hotel is a quick walk to Ft Darusey Beach which is open to the public if you don’t want to venture out too far. The Hiking Hawaii Cafe that is not associated with the hotel has a great Lavender latte and they are gluten friendly.

Spent an overnight after getting in to town. Received an upgrade which was nice. Hotel restaurant is on a reset, just returning to normal due to pandemic. Breakfast available, but no dinner, as of yet. Has a big city feel. Not on beach front. Park across the street. Note: It is a walk to get to the beach. Great exercise.

This hotel has a great balcony and pool area that I utilized when I didn’t want to walk to the beach. The couches are great for daytime reading or watching shows, or you can hangout there at night with nice lights around you. The beach is a 20 minute walk and the area felt safe. Though the water wasn’t in sight, the views are beautiful with either mountains or a nice park area. This hotel isn’t a 5 star hotel (which I couldn’t afford anyways) but is fairly priced and has everything you need! Every single employee I encountered was friendly - the most friendly than any hotel I’ve ever been. They greeted me and chatted every time. The folks standing outside are especially awesome, especially Pedro. They try to remember their guests and serve them. I was very impressed and will return if I come to Oahu again!

I have stayed at this particular hotel many times, but finally writing a review. The hotel is in a great location, you can walk anywhere downtown from there. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. We got upgraded to an ocean view room which was very nice. For those not familiar with Double Tree, the cookies were delicious as usual! We received the daily food and beverage credit for being Diamond members, but the restaurants were not open when we wanted to use them, so we didn’t. That was our fault, but, the hotel should make the restaurant available more often so people can hang out and have a cocktail before dinner time. We had a great stay and were very happy with our room and amenities!

Our family made a week-long stay at the hotel for the Christmas to New Year week, and we left with nice experience and joyful memories. Friendly staff, timely room services, nice restaurant (a bit busy during the morning but worth the wait), and great location (walking distance to many destinies including beach, shopping, park and restaurants). We also rented a car and I found the parking to be quite easy (self-managed with no gate). Our room is on the southeast corner of the 10th floor and we made good use of balcony for multi-view (mountain, city, river and people) and relaxing in the warm ocean breeze. We also played card and board games late into the night and didn't seem to be bothered or bothering others with noises. Being a Lifetime Diamond member of Hilton, it was cool to show off a bit of that status (including the free breakfast) to the family who finally got to travel with me first time in two years.

Lacked daily room cleaning. Didn't replace coffee pods or towels daily. Bedding should be updated but pillows are comfortable. Lampshades dirty. Pool closed and I wasn't told when I was checking in. Hawaiian Hiking Café was excellent. Friendly and delicious. Bellmen were topnotch. Courteous and helpful

This is our 2nd time staying here and id stay here again and again. The rooms the staff and customer service is top notch. We came on a family vacation here and it has been so nice. This hotel is definitely a cut above in my opinion. Location is great for shopping, the beach and even a laundromat if needed. A perk is the warm cookies available to you at any time of day. They are so good. I cannot express how wonderful our stay has been here. Everything is very clean and staff has been very helpful.

Overall it was a great hotel for a short stay. But the room was warm even though the air conditioning was set at 68 and it just felt muggy in the room. The shower was on the smaller side. The business center was nice and spacious and the food was excellent.

I'm giving 4 stars because of no hot tub and no Jacuzzi and I was given a room with only shower. But my bottles were all filled and no problem with my toilet and if I did have that problem I would go back down and ask for a room change because you shouldn't have to refill or plunge yourself. However, the staff is super friendly. My room was comfortable and I ate at the Hiking Cafe and it was so good. So why are you complaining when you are getting a Hawaiian experience with beautiful people. Go to the beach and relax.

So - I'll start by saying that I'm one of those people who thoroughly read through online reviews before deciding on which hotel to book. While I'm partial to the Hilton brand, I still do significant research beforehand. After reading a handful of negative reviews regarding the DoubleTree in Waikiki, I gotta admit, I was a bit nervous going in. Nonetheless, I still decided on this property for a one-night stay, and I gotta tell you - I disagree with all the negativity. I had an absolutely wonderful stay! Checking in was extremely quick and efficient, my room was lovely, clean and spacious (with fantastic views!), and while my interactions with staff were few, they were always extremely friendly and accommodating. Location is in the heart of an extremely substantial amount of shops, restaurants and nightlife. Perhaps I'm easy to please, or that I really kept things simple for this stay, but nonetheless, I would most definitely stay here again, I had such a positive experience. No complaints whatsoever. Only a tremendous amount of gratitude. Thank you, DoubleTree!

Booked a room with 2 balconies for my first trip to Hawaii, had an ocean view. A great view indeed... When I checked in, I was told the balconies were all closed off, doors locked, due to construction for upgrading the facility. This will continue until Sep 2023. I am all for progress, but nothing was mentioned when I booked the room, no indicators on the web site nor anyone reaching out to give me a heads up. The 2 days I was there, I never say or heard any work being done, let alone near my balconies. They gave me 5000 points for the inconvenience. Disappointed is the word. The staff was wonderful, the location was great. Overall, I was happy, just sad that the Hilton didn't handle this better.

Stayed here last minute due to flight complications. Very dated interiors. Even though room is clean the dated facilities make it look dirty. Room locks are a constant struggle, room key could not unlock the door multiple times. The gym was pretty good for a hotel at this price point. Staff was generally helpful.

The hotel is super close to shopping and the beach. They charge $35 for a “resort fee” that is for the pool, a computer at the desk you can use, and an extra towel. On top of that there is a $53/day parking fee and it’s only valet parking. It’s Hawaii so I’m not surprised but still think it’s overrated.

  • 5/5 John S. 5 months ago on Google
An excellent facility close to the beach that is capable of providing all your needs while staying in a room. The pool area is next to the fitness center. The restaurant offers a variety of menu selections. For Hilton Honors guests, the food and beverage credit helps with prices. The staff throughout the facility are all so welcoming and friendly. We upgraded to a pent house room with an excellent view of the beach. The larger room is very comfortable.

Stay away. Worst service ever. Lazy front desk staff and manager. 1) Shower gel dispenser was empty soon I got into the room. Housekeeper should have checked before the room handed over? 2) Toilet clotted twice. I have been given a plunger, with feces stains from the last used party (so disgusting. See pic below), to fix it myself at 11pm as I have been told all technician have gone for the day. 3) Zero information given regards to the pool closed until I ask pool access the next morning. What are their duties? Just handing out room keys? 4) I have been told to give feedback of my stay the next day. I raised the issues and made formal complaint. Waited 24 hours and got no reply. I followed up and got told that manager will reply after lunch (too busy to eat) or I could bring it up to the GM. I had no reply from the manager at the end. I sent letters to the GM (Shaun Ono) and CEO. Zero reply. I will never go back. Awful and filthy place. Treating customers like animals.

Great service, comfortable rooms and nice amenities in the hotel itself (pool, gym, bar, wifi, etc). Conveniently located near the Ala Moana Centre for shopping, Waikiki strip for the beautiful beach and bars, 7/11 and coin laundry across the street and food vans nearby too. Despite being near all this action, it was super quiet at night when I was getting some rest. No street noise or loud guests. I really enjoyed my stay and would recommend this hotel to others.

Not satisfied. Will not stay here again also will not recommend to anyone. The pool is cold ice cold there is no jacuzzi. The breakfast that say’s complementary is not you have to pay for it. Also you can not park your vehicle you must use valet parking and pay $50 a day for there services. The Customer service for everyone that works here is amazing however the lack of amenities and the over price will not stay again. Lastly, this hotel is not kid friendly there were adults smoking at the pool even with multiple signs that say no smoking. One security came out saw it and said nothing. I had to take my kids out the pool and come back at a different time. So unhappy!!!

It is nice hotel off the beach. I stayed during COVID time so I think they aren't offering as much as they normally would. Great place to stay at a reasonable rate. Great staff throughout.

  • 5/5 Larry B. 1 year ago on Google
They treated me like a diamond member. Everything was perfect from the time I gave the valet my car all the way through check-in until I pick my car at the next morning. I absolutely no problems and the room was spectacularly clean

  • 5/5 Matt E. 1 year ago on Google
A bit more expensive than I'm used to, but for the ~30% price difference you're getting a much more premium room then the cheaper hotels in Waikiki. Everything within a ~15min walk. There's a really good coffee shop nearby called Honolulu coffee experience. I'd highly recommend staying here if it's within budget. Bonus they give you a really good cookie 🍪

Rooms definitely need to be updated. Our bathroom did not have a place to hang the wet towels in order to let them dry for the next day. We had essentially no hot or even warm water for the 5 days we were they. Notified staff and they came so got hot water for a whole 10 minutes before back to cold water. Had to walk 10 minutes to beach but could deal with that but for the price to pay for room should have been at least ocean view. Our view was the back of a restaurant and the street. Don't plan on getting a rental as you will be paying an additional fee of about $40-60 per day. For the price you have to pay---- find a different hotel or better yet VRBO.

Feeling a very average accommodation experience. Did not feel the benefits of being a gold member. The breakfast is of good quality. But I was charged more on the penultimate day. Why do I charge more than 40 dollars for the same thing I ordered before? And they promised that they could prepare breakfast for me in advance on the last day, but I didn't get breakfast until I left. It’s ridiculous that the house is cleaned every 4 days by default. If I don’t stay for 5 days, don’t I need to clean it? There will be no air conditioning for the next few days. I didn't even notice. Anyway, a very general experience, if I go again in the future, I won't choose this hotel again.

Room was not clean at all. Bathroom sink was dirty, mirror full of splatters, and neither the tile floor or the carpets had been vacuumed. The only reason I didn't ask to change rooms was because it was a one night layover stay and I was exhausted. I did check thoroughly and the bed looked as though it had been freshly changed. The only reason I did 3 stars instead of less was because the staff was exceedingly nice, both at the desk and out front.

  • 4/5 Selena M. 2 years ago on Google
Nice rooms. 3 beds, two rooms and two balconies. Had views of the ocean, mountains and park. The only thing I would change is staying outside of the city. We are suburbs people and enjoy more quiet. I understand this is the city, but you couldn't sleep with the balcony doors open because of the noice from traffic. If you live in the city, you're probably used to it and it's not a big deal, for others, it was disturbing. Not the hotels fault, but my oversight. Free parking for guests!!!!

  • 3/5 Jennifer H. 2 years ago on Google
Just okay. If there is nothing else available, it's fine. Kind of dumpy and sad. Can't believe they charge a resort fee. This is not a resort. Barely a hotel, or a nicer motel. Never have I been offered to pay for an upgrade as a diamond member. Rooms available but not the right kind for free upgrade. Glad I got my mini bottles of water for being a loyal member though

I think it is important to point out that COVID regulations really alter the way the hotel usually operates, but what I liked about this place is the people. In my opinion the staff make or break a hotel and thus the vacation experience. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, but also set appropriate expectations for how operations are effected by the pandemic. The hotel is in a downtown area, so expect a more urban feeling. Also, I don’t think it is within easy walking distance to a beach. They do have on-site parking and we took a car everywhere we went. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this property. The room was clean and looked like it had been remodeled within the past few years. We got a partial ocean view, which as the name implies has ocean view blocked by buildings but you can see it. The kids would go on the balcony in the morning and look around, which entertained them for awhile.

By far, we enjoyed our stay at The Double Tree but a few things stood out that did not meet 5/5 stars. First, being there was only 1 person at the Front Desk helping guests on a Saturday afternoon. Second, there was a stain on the wall nearest the sliding door to the bathroom. Third, I wish there was already an extra blanket in the closet with the extra pillow for the pull out sofa bed. Fourth, I wish there were a few more lounge chairs on the pool deck. But needless to say, we enjoyed everything and had a great time. Oh and we loved the cookies! I can't remember if there was milk available at the quick shop or something but that would be helpful to have.

Our room was completely wonderful, and clean. Erik was extremely nice and knowledgeable of the area. We appreciated the service. Mostly great experience. The only thing that wasn't great is the lost in found is through a 3rd party. So when we called to find out if we left behind an item the desk could not tell us.

  • 2/5 Dawn R. 2 years ago on Google
We have stayed at this hotel before and like the quieter location and ease of getting away from so many crowds. Our stay this time was fine and the staff was very accommodating until we realized my daughter left two pair of shoes, each costing over $100.00 a piece, in the hotel room drawer. My husband called at least four times, speaking to various people-front desk, lost and found, security. The shoes couldn’t be found so that means they have a thief working for them. I called and left a message for housekeeping and they never returned my call. I’m just so disappointed in the lack of concern. We always stay with Hilton and will make sure to not stay with this hotel ever again.

  • 4/5 Belinda T. 2 years ago on Google
Excellent staff and location! Staff is very friendly and very accommodating! The ease of accessibility to the hotel, parking, dining was more than satisfactory. I would, however, recommend a directional change in the driveway, as you are unable to circle around to enter the self-parking ramp without having to drive around the entire block again, after checking in/dropping off. Lastly, the ventilation in the rooms still has pet odor within the air conditioning, so it smells like dog hair upon entering room.
