Beautiful hotel near a canal. I watched some people canoeing which was cool. View of the mountains were breath taking. Staff was super friendly. It's not a ritzy chain hotel which I liked because it was super easy to get in/out. I felt I paid what is was worth. Shower pressure felt really good. Parking is valet only and yes you have to pay. Free purified water/coffee/tea all day in lobby.

The hotel is located farther away from the ocean or the main strip than other hotels but I don’t think you will find a nicer hotel when it comes to staff, operation, cleanliness and comfort. The valet here is incredibly quick and you will get your car about 20x faster than the Hilton or Marriott. The hotel is always kept extremely clean, and provided daily housekeeping in a post Covid world. They provide free beach towels through an easy checkout system. You almost never have to wait or share the elevators, which once again was a luxury compared to the Marriott or Hilton. Overall if you are looking for a great hotel with no fuss or issues the bigger hotels have this is the place for you. If you are looking for an exceptional view of Waikiki Beach I would recommend the locations closer to the ocean.

This hotel is unionized so you can tell because the workers are so happy! The amenities are SO NICE! Free coffee, tea, and water was so helpful throughout our stay and saved us so much money. We are on the balcony of our rooms every night and it’s fully stocked with utensils, a fridge, and a microwave! The staff was so so incredibly friendly. Especially Uncle Jeff! He was so so helpful! I loved my stay and WILL BE BACK!

Great location, that's where it ends. Front desk lady is extremely cold and rude. Manager and night staff seemed more friendly. Had an issue of the bathroom above my floor leaking (let's just say it was not water) all through my bathroom and the front desk lady couldn't even bother to be interested in that situation. Hardly willing to help until the maintenance man assisted in a much more empathetic way. He understood that other people's urine was falling onto my items and my bathroom... I know the world is short staff at the moment, however there is no need to have staff like her working there.. Eventually after refuting the smaller room they were moving me to, they moved me to a larger room for the remaining 2 nights. But still the lady on the front desk has zero polite attitude or want for assistance. Old hotel, unloved and the location is great, but there is much better choices a stroll away. I travel to Hawaii often for business and I will not stay here again and will not be sending me staff to stay there either. Avoid if you can!

The staff is excellent! Rooms were clean and comfortable. Also, there were small conveniences that made it a great stay. Fridge, microwave, and some basic dishes/utensils. However, no dish soap to wash them. Cute little balcony, but my "city view" room was looking straight into the neighboring occupants, lol. So we kept the curtains closed. But if you're on the side that faces the canal, it'll be a nice spot to enjoy. Also, it's probably a small thing to some people but, i loved that there was a filtered water bottle fountain in the lobby. No need to stack the fridge with single use bottles of water! Not much parking around so using the valet service is a must. I didn't explore much else of the hotel so i can't really comment on the other features.

LOVED this hotel! It's very clean with a friendly staff and every amenity I needed, from the beautiful, clean pool area and little fitness center to the room amenities and 24/7 availability of coffee and filtered water. The view from my balcony was breathtaking, and I loved watching the paddlers on the canal each evening. Coconut Waikiki is a tremendous value for the traveler! I would definitely stay here again!

Very welcoming. Robert the valet was AMAZING!!!! he was very helpful and always with a smile on his face. The rest of the staff were helpful but Robert is definitely a stand out. The hotel lobby is spacious and we loved the coffee & water station. Though when we booked we were advertised a daily breakfast & popcorn station and when that was removed we were never notified so that was a bit of a shock and an unexpected expense. No compensation was given for the inconvenience. The pool is small but we didn't see many people used it during our stay. My son went in twice for a few minutes in the evening. (wish they had a hot tub) . Location is good, we walked to the beach, the marketplace mall & eateries. Parking is valet only but open 24hrs. Room is VERY dated and dingy. wasn't dirty per say but the age or how worn out everything was made it look a lot worse. Owner definitely needs to invest $$ in the property. And who ever does their marketing is amazing because it looks fabulous in pictures. We stayed in the penthouse suite for a week. it was very spacious for our group. the sliding door does not close all the way or lock (saw that in a previous review had hoped they would have fixed it) they apologized and said they would review but super dangerous if you have kids which we did. we ended up moving stuff around to block the door. Though the sound of the wind is amplified because there is no weather strip on that door and since its not fully closed shakes a lot. the elevator also does not go all the way up to the penthouse floor so if you struggle with stairs this is not the place for you. finally the whole place needs a DEEP cleaning and not just the basic housekeeping stuff. For the price and location it was ok if you are on a budget or like us weren't planning on being in the room.

We have stayed at many hotels, and this is easily one of our favorites!!! 1, it’s extremely affordable! 2, we do not have a SINGLE COMPLAINT. Wonderful customer service! Blocks away from downtown shopping and food. The nicest valet. Rooms were exceptionally clean. They provided us with chairs and towels for the beach. We 100% will stay here again in the future!

I had a good stay. Great value. Great staff. Every single one of them that I interacted with was very helpful and friendly. They let me check in early when the room was ready. Got a room facing the canal (I may have gotten an upgrade). Bed was comfortable. I was out most of the time but it was nice coming back after an activity or a long day of excursions. I had no issues with noise and didn't have trouble sleeping. Free coffee, tea, and water at the lobby available anytime. If the coffee machine isn't working, just ask one of the staff and they can do a quick troubleshoot (takes about 30 seconds). Lots of seating area in the lobby if you want to hang out there. Sometimes wifi is weak in the room but not a big issue for me as it tends to come back. Good location, walking distance to the beach, shopping centre, restaurants, bus stop. They provide beach towels and can exchange dirty for a clean one as often as you need them. There's a coin laundry available for guests to use and laundry soap can also be purchased at the lobby for cheap. Overall I had a really good stay and this place provided what I needed for my trip.

My 8-night stay was simply delightful. My trip was for surfing while working remotely. The location is perfect – close enough to everything but it was nice and quiet because it faces the canal side of Waikiki. The staff was very kind and responsive. The rooms were nice and clean. Small details with high impact: I really appreciated the filtered water dispenser in the lobby, the Kona coffee every morning, and the foam rollers in the gym. Would definitely stay here again!

We thoroughly enjoyed our week long stay at the Waikiki Hotel. The staff was very pleasant and attentive. Our room (1005) was very spacious and comfortable, especially for a week long stay. We enjoyed watching sunrise from the balcony. Although we were able to hear a lot of traffic noise from our room, it did not affect our sleep (I was very surprised by this, and a little nervous). The hotel location was very convenient and within walking distance of pretty much anywhere in Waikiki, shopping, restaurants, and beaches. We had a car and the valet parking worked out nicely and we never had to wait long for our car. I normally don't spend time on reviews, but I wanted to make a point at our happy we were to stay at the Coconut Waikiki.

We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel offered amenities above and beyond. Beach towels, chairs, umbrellas available. Water and coffee and popcorn. The staff were very nice and helpful. ~15 minute walk to the beach. The pool and lobby were also nice and welcoming.

The hotel is fine, nothing super special or "high-class". The lobby somewhat reminded me of a hostel. Staff was super friendly, though. The rooms were clean, the beds comfy. I definitely recommend the "mountain view" rooms, otherwise you will be staring at the high rise nextdoor. We enjoyed the location as it was pretty close to everything.

Room - extremely clean, had all the amenities we needed, shower had great pressure, towels were soft, the balcony was awesome to sit on after a long day and the bed/pillows were very comfortable. We switched rooms mid stay and found the second to be the same as the first. Don't expect soundproofing and you'll be fine as most hotels I've found are like this in the price range. Service - all staff we encountered were so friendly. I didn't get her name but one woman remembered my name and helped me to switch around a reservation when we wanted to island hop. We were allowed to store our luggage until we returned too. Check in/out was a breeze and everyone was kind and helpful. Location - within walking distance (about 3 mi/5 km) to many restaurants, shops, beaches and other attractions. Easy to take a lyft wherever you want to go too if it's a bit farther. It can be loud in this area, someone set off fireworks and some vehicles have super loud music you can hear from the street but it was close enough to where we wanted to go and if you take a tour, they can pick you up from here. It seems to be a safe area with other people always walking around. They offer free admission to Bishop Museum and popcorn in the late afternoon. We filled up on water and coffee too. I would definitely stay here again!

We really enjoyed our stay and if we come back we would stay here again. There was some street noise, but it did not wake us. The bed was very comfortable, the A/C works really well, we loved the mini kitchen and the room is small but still felt spacious. They offer coffee and tea all day down stairs and the tea is a great brand. It is a 15 minute walk to the beach and a 3 minute walk from a bus drop off, so we were able to catch a bus at the airport. We booked a cab back to the airport and requested a time change, then reconfirmed the change had been made. Unfortunately the driver said they never got the updated time. They have beach towels and chairs and umbrellas at first come first serve. If this hotel is in the price you want to spend, then I would highly recommend it. Liked it better than the hotel we stayed at on our way through and wish we had booked here both ways. Thank you, we loved our stay!

I don't usually write reviews, but I was charmed by this place. Nestled in the heart of Honolulu, the Coconut Waikiki is a gem waiting to be discovered. From the get-go, the staff at the reception were incredibly welcoming and polite, making the check-in experience and our entire stay a delight. The room was spotless and cozy, though it's worth noting that some street noise drifted in during the evenings - but that's just the city vibe, nothing the hotel can control. Their valet service was both quick and reasonably priced, adding a touch of convenience to our stay. The best part? The location. It's tough to beat, and what's even better is the value this place offers. You get the prime location without the sky-high prices of some other nearby properties. A fantastic find for anyone looking for a great stay without breaking the bank in Waikiki. We'll stay again!

Cute, quaint little hotel with amazing staff. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. Great lobby area with large meeting table, a small alcove for watching TV, reading or socializing. Pool is on the smaller side, but is deep. Laundry onsite and very reasonably priced. Close to major attractions and plenty of dining options. Rooms are decent. A little dated, but the beds were comfy, the shower worked great and everything was in decent condition. Highly recommend.

Rooms ending in 04 and 05 offer mountain view, but you can hear all street traffic all night long. Older hotel that looks renovated but needs more! Bathrooms, carpet, windows and balcony railings needs upgrades and replacements. Room was clean, no smells (other than someone smoking in an area whereby it was captured in the venting system and smelled in the rooms a few times). AC units were new and worked well.

This hotel was perfect for my boyfriend and I! We loved it so much, we ended up extending our stay by another day! The room was very clean and spacious. We got a single king overlooking the Ala Wai canal. The amenities were great! They have beach towel rentals along with beach chairs and beach umbrellas which was super convenient for us! They also had free admission to the Bishop Museum (which we took advantage of and went)! The staff was amazing and so friendly! 10/10 recommend to anyone wanting a nice stay but also wanting to save a few dollars on their trip! Thank you Coconut Waikiki Hotel! *my pictures aren’t the best because I only took a video so I had to screenshot some moments from the video*

Nice hotel that hits most of the basics. The staff were great, the hotel was clean. There were a few cosmetic issues in our bathroom (sliding door was missing a lot of paint etc) but nothing serious. The room had by far the nicest mattress I've been on in a long time. Beautiful views of the mountains and canal depending on the side of the building you are on.

This is a very good hotel. With a 3* hotel rating it is exceptional value. The staff are outstanding – friendly, engaging and helpful. Our room, the facilities and the hotel in general was very clean. We saw zero maintenance issues. Being located in Waikiki it was a short walk everywhere. However, if you were to haul beach paraphernalia every day to the beach, you may want to be a little closer to the beach. We enjoyed our 3 day stay immensely and recommend this hotel accordingly.

Affordable, tea/coffee available 24/7, water station, and super walkable location. Enjoyed staying at this hotel mostly because of the super sweet front desk lady who greeted me everyday by name and offered recommendations. Only reason this is not a 5 star is that the AC was a little noisy to sleep with. Would definitely stay here again!

  • 5/5 Kimberly F. 1 year ago on Google
Laurie the manager was awesome! The hotel was clean, spacious and comfortable. Location was great with many food and shopping options near by. All the staff and Front desk were nice and welcoming! Highly recommended. The pool was small- but it is heated and was a nice place to rest from long walking and hiking days. Pictures from balcony were great!

Bang for buck this would easily be a 5 star. That being said, the elevators were both broken, the coffee in the lobby is best left alone and the rooms were adequate at best. The staff was friendly and eager to help but nothing special of a hotel. More like a 3 star review however for the price paid, I’m pleased as punch to offer a 4 star experience

  • 4/5 Jessica H. 2 years ago on Google
We picked this hotel for the price and convenient location. The rooms are massive and comfortable. We were only in the hotel to sleep. There was an issue with the room the first night but it was quickly fixed. Waikiki parking is horrible and the hotel charges about $40 a night to park. The reason for the 4 star review is the breakfast. Loved that when we booked, it said breakfast included. All it contains is a small croissant, like 5 princes of pineapple and a mini muffin. Same thing everyday. But the hotel was in a perfect central location! Not many amenities but if you are looking to do Oahu on a budget, this is the perfect place!

Not much to complain about, what was promised was delivered. This was our second time in the hotel in two months. We were greeted as valued guests, we got the high floor room we asked for. The air-conditioning could be better, it is freezing on the bed next to it. It is also somewhat noisy. But not bad, it is not needed during the night. The size of the refrigerator is good, we could store and cool our drinks. The breakfast could be better, I do not like muffins. I'd prefer a banana. The staff was kind and polite. Our favorite was the guy with the long hair. He is funny and still polite. Since this was our second stay it shows that we like the place/

We used the Coconut as our wedding hotel and it was absolutely fantastic. The Coconut offered our guests rooms in our room block, provided us space for a post-wedding brunch, allowed us to park easily in their driveway and parking lot, and helped us distribute welcome gifts to our guests. The rooms were super comfortable, everyone loved the pool and coffee/food available in the lobby, the staff was fantastic, and it was such a convenient location. They treated us like royalty and made us feel extremely welcome and at home. I highly recommend the Coconut for your wedding hotel!!

In terms of value and location, I thought Coconut Waikiki was a great choice. We greatly appreciated the complimentary room upgrade to the executive suite as well as large amount of amenities! There was a complimentary grab and go breakfast every morning which consisted of a croissant, muffin, fruit and sometimes boiled egg. There was also complimentary coffee and tea around the clock. The water fill station was awesome and came in very handy. Most of the staff was exceptionally friendly. In terms of cons, there was a $40/day fee for parking, and only valet was an option. Keep in mind though that other hotels in the area may have similar fees. Some of the room fixtures, particularly the bathroom seemed a bit old. All being said, would recommend Coconut Waikiki!

I loved this gem of a hotel! The location is great for walking to shops, beach , restaurants etc. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Everything was done quickly and with no hesitation. I was visiting over the Christmas holidays and the decorations were lovely as well as the music playing continuously. I will definitely stay here again and highly recommend. extra bonus..this place doesn't charge resort fees!!!
