***Go Elsewhere*** This place is okay for a night or two, but comparatively, there are much better places to stay for the same price. I highly recommend FORD ISLAND LODGING which is updated and easy to access. The price is about the same and everything is 5 stars mucho grande, including the breakfast and pool. This historic hotel is really old and outdated. The carpet looks to be from the 70s and the rooms have been refurbished and painted over more times than Kim Kardashian! Expect rusted hinges, chipping paint, stained carpet, rickety chairs, & clogged shower heads. Not trying to bash the place, it's just that it needs an extreme makeover and the US Army is the last branch of service to upgrade anything. Meanwhile the Air Force and Navy are lightyears ahead. I recommend only staying here for convenience while attending to medical needs. Otherwise, stay at the Hale Koa ($250/night) or Navy Lodging ($155/night) on Ford Island. Positives: Great view, secure property Negatives: Hallways and room smelled musty and moldy, almost a urine smell. The clothes that I wore while there still have a moldy smell to them. The room we stayed in was dirty and it appeared that it hadn't been cleaned for some time, as there was a layer of dust on everything, toothpaste from previous customers and carpet that hadn't been vacuumed and needed replaced. I was hesitant to take a shower, as the shower head looked to have mildew on it as well. I am grateful that I packed my slippers, as there is no way that I would have walked around barefoot. As the wife of a Veteran, I felt as though the managers of this property are lazy and lacked the respect that our Veterans deserve. I haved stayed at all sorts of hotels, new and old and this isn't a simple "the building is old" issue. This is a management issue.

My family PCS'd during this pandemic and hurricane Douglas. We had the honor of working with an exceptionally professional staff here at Tripler IHG. Aloha worked with me and my family to make sure we had enough sleeping space (myself, husband and 4 kids). Our stay while waiting for housing was a good stay. The entire staff from front desk to room attendants were always polite, friendly, and helpful. Though there are only 1 washer and dryer per floor they were free. The hotel had stairs but it was only two-floors. And the view whether mountain or ocean it was beautiful. Out back there's a helipad and my children got to see medics practicing airlift process. Plus the wifi was good enough for online video games, homework and streaming movies (all at same time). Room layout is different then what we were used to especially for a family of 6 but it's doable.

We stayed here and we were very impressed by the hotel, especially for being in a historic building. The rooms were quiet, clean and safe. The view we had over the port and the airport was great. The hotel had ice, filtered water and free washers and dryers to use, which worked great. We were celebrating a special occasion and the staff really came through. They left balloons, a bottle of wine and candies. If you have to stay here or come to the island I recommend staying here.

The room is clean. The bed and pillows are comfortable. This hotel was converted from two people room barracks on a 2 flats. One side is a bedroom and the other side is living room. The bathroom is in between the rooms. The bathroom is small and not much space on the sink to put my hygiene kits. The AC unis aren't as loud as regular hotels. Overall, the room is a 4-star. The hot and continental breakfast is extremely limited compared to a regular Holiday Inn or similar types. No computers are working in the business center. A Starbucks and Subway are available by the hospital side or a short walk. There are no restaurants on site or in the area. A car or rental car is a must to stay in this IHG. The view is incredibly beautiful to see downtown, airport, the ocean, and nearby towns.

Do NOT recommend. Upon arrival, I could not check in! I had booked on the official IHG website and provided my credit card number. They said that the IHG website allows up to 5 more bookings than the number of rooms that exist -- what?! Also, if you are a civilian, you will need to give your SOCIAL SECURITY number so they can do a background check on you just so you can drive on base. Finally, the people that I interacted with were neither friendly nor polite. If you enjoy that kind of thing, you should stay here.

Great IHG that will soon be fully renovated. Very well kept for an older hotel. The location gives you amazing views of the island. If you are going to work at the hospital this hotel is a must during in processing. The staff is very helpful and accommodating. This hotel is a great location to stay if you want a central location on the island. It will allow you to access all the major areas of the island. Large pet friendly and lots of space for the fur babies to play.

Stayed 4 nights here in October. Breakfast options are limited but adequate. They change slightly each day and even offered Spam. Occasionally, they would even have Organic hard boiled eggs from Costco (Kirkland). Hotel is a bit dated as are the rooms; wifi is a average but adequate. However, I found the shower pressure strong as is the hot water along with decently comfortable beds. While there is a helipad, due to proximity to the hospital, behind the hotel; I didn't see any helicopters land throughout my stay. The hotel is roughly the equivalent to Holiday Inn Express. Please note there are no elevators in this hotel. Was told this is a 'historic' building. If you have trouble climbing stairs; you're better off either staying on the first floor or staying someplace else. As a bonus, the hotel does offer free use of guest self laundry. There appears to be one set per floor and is on a first come first served basis. This is extremely helpful as I was able to have my family's clothes washed before traveling to the next island. Sometimes the little things like that do go a long way. The only con I could think of (not the fault of the hotel) is that one needs to go all the way around the hospital to exit the base.

This is very much a historic building. It’s only 2-story and no elevator so if you have mobility issues be sure to request a room on the main level. Very old windows & doors which are unique but also a bit tricky. Door lock going out to our balcony was hateful but in historic building that is to be expected. Blinds don’t exactly cover the windows very well. Beautiful views and a very quiet area. Laundry room is available at no charge & that was nice. Breakfast was mediocre but for no additional charge you can’t expect too much.

The not so good - We were placed in a room with a pretty severe leak in the ceiling. Small drip the first day we thought we would just deal with; the second day there we received quite a bit of rain and four soaking wet towels and bathroom full of standing water asked to be moved. Staff seemed to be aware there was an issue as they made a comment that they usually only put people in that room that are on short stays. They did move us rooms when requested but when you’re on a PCS move re-packing and moving all your stuff along with two animals from one room to another is a headache that nobody wants to deal with. Breakfast is pretty lackluster, hot food is kept in a warmer that doesn’t seem to keep anything very warm. The last time we were here a few years ago they used to have fresh fruit with breakfast which was nice touch, but this is no longer the case (maybe a lingering COVID measure?). The good - The first room we were in had an above average size refrigerator for a hotel with a separate freezer door which was a nice plus. Rooms had new TV’s and internet worked well including streaming devices which have a tendency to have issues in public wifi. Large lanai is a nice extension of living space. Staff is friendly and pleasant.

Better places to spend your tla, very small rooms, unfriendly staff (dvq), bad service, covid can't be an excuse for everything. I have stayed in allot of ihg's in the army, one of the worst. Breakfast is litterally the same every day, house cleaning uses the gust laundry almost all morning, and treats you like you are their schedule. Moon hall at Bragg was better and it was pretty rough. Spend your TLA better, go to a different hotel.

Great location for people using TLA, TDY to tripler or needing to stay for vacation. Free breakfeast and great staff. A little outdated in the rooms but thats practically all military buildings. Short drive away from beaches and really just an awesome hotel that charges flat rates with no extra charges or resort fees.

I was in Honolulu for the marathon and wanted a quiet and safe place to focus. This met all of my needs! Fort Shafter is conveniently located just a few miles from the hustle of Waikiki and close enough to access touristy things. I lived in Hawaii for 14 years so felt no need to be in Waikiki. The buildings are older, but I like that! It was quiet and safe and we could park directly in front for free! The best part of the stay was customer service. Christina helped with reservations and she ensured that everything went smoothly. She's very friendly and genuine! The young lady that checked us in on the afternoon of 12/8 was also wonderful. Lastly, Robelyn provided excellent customer service during our 4 days at Shafter. She always opened breakfast earlier than advertised and she ensured we had our needs met. I visit Hawaii multiple times per year and look forward to returning to Tripler/Fort Shafter!

Quiet place to reside for my vacation. Descent breakfast not much of variety. The local woman kept standing over my shoulder trying to dictate my portion. If it's not enough food just cook more. Breakfast selections very limited. Enjoy my stay

First off check in is at 4 pm, they didn't check us in until 4:30 PM, due to late check outs. The hallways smell musty, and moldy and the rooms are below average. To put in perspective of the location you are away from all of the action, to get anywhere you have to drive about 20-30 mins on average. If you are on the search for a "Hawaiian" luxury experience and vacation, seeing palm trees and being near the crystal blue waters and white sand do not stay here even though its cheap it does not justify. My recommendation and what I should of done was stay down in Waikiki, but live and learn this is my first time visiting Hawaii. The hotel amenities are nothing great. The TV does not work, the breakfast is a joke and it has stale coffee. The staff is nice but incompetent. Also there is no elevator and the hotel is two stories, so if you family member that is handicap or cant do stairs this is not the hotel for you.

New comfy beds (11/21). Great to have met Christina, Elena, & Honor. Housekeeping needs help in organizing the dept. Lots of promises but they're never met....not good. Need to hire more Housekeepers. Rugs need shampooing don't go barefoot! Nice setting up on hill with ocean view.

Clean and spacious but very old and outdated. The worst thing was when we forgot my son’s belonging in the closet. It’s an expensive supreme Raider’s hoody collection. We called the front desk right away to check the closet. We didn’t get any return calls. We called several times again and then went back to the place. Front desk said she checked it herself and checked with housekeeper but didn’t find it. It was a very undesirable and disappointing experience. We’re still here in the island hoping it will be returned.

I would not stay here again. They called me the day of my reservation and asked if I'd be willing to move to the Shafter location. I said sure and that actually works a little better for me. Check in was at 1500 and I showed up at 1630. They told me that my reservation was still at Tripler and that my room wouldn't be ready till 1730. After finally checking in my room was so difficult to find because the layout doesn't make sense, you have to go up and down stairs to stay on the same floor. (No elevators so it's not handicap friendly) It also smells like mildew all throughout the hotel.

Military hotel on the hill with very nice view of the perl city. Very dated and old hotel but they try to keep it clean as they could. Get breakfast at the counter and eat at your room. Staffs was very kind and helpul.

Land mark building so took us a day to get acclimated to this IHG. Not bad, but I do think the rate is a big high for what you get. They state queen size bed, the bed us smaller than my sons full size bed. Maybe a small queen if there is such a thing. Breakfast is ehhh. But has basic coffee bagel toaster cereal milk and boil eggs. No pool on facility but very nice view. Parking is ample and just a good place to stay. Weekend room service IF YOU REQUEST IT PRIOR TO THE WEEKEND. Nice staff too

Conveniently located within walking distance of TAMC with beautiful ocean views. This hotel is good for extended stays with a microwave and fridge in each room. The staff are so wonderful and filled with aloha spirit. My family of 5 has stayed here twice for extended stays and both times have been such great experiences!

Always a great place to stay, but you have to be active, retired military or a DAV veteran

We honeymoon here second part of our trip last week and the first half at Disney Aulani. IHG experience was far more enjoyable and the staff member who insured that we felt The Aloha spirits was Anna. She went over and beyond to make our stay pleasurable

Love the split room with the bathroom in the middle and the balcony. Wish the barracks were kept up as well as this building is! The housekeeping team is outstanding
