I looked up ‘good food by the airport’ and this place came up. I’m sort of disappointed they disrespected this restaurant with ‘good’… this place is GREAT, AMAZING, WORTH A TRIP TO HAWAII FOR! Ha! The food was fresh, super tasty and the service was phenomenal. Rose was so sweet… sharing her opinion about what we would like and even ran to the car to check to see if we liked it, give us a ‘palate cleansing tea’ and a chocolate chip ‘cookie for your flight’. Our ‘fish and chips’ was made with mahi mahi which tasted like it was swimming in the ocean this morning… bbq brisket bowl was delectable, sweet, tangy, melted in our mouth… everything was delicious down to the pineapple Cole slaw they put on top as a ‘garnish’. We also had. ‘Filipino lemonade’ made with Calamansi!!! If you want really really tasty Hawaiian/asian fusion without the frills - COME HERE! I’ve done Michelin stars when necessary but for me it’s the ‘hole in the wall’ ‘slap yo momma’ meals I prefer. I told my agent who took my bags and showed her pictures - she said she was going while on her break! Hahahah

This place is a quick drive from the airport, and it was our first stop when we landed! The service was great, and the lady at the register is so nice and welcoming. We ordered the Filipino Lemonade, Blackened Ahi Sandwich, Adobo Pork Belly Bowl, Spicy Ahi Roll, truffle fries, large Banana Poi bread, and brownies. Everything was delicious, but the best is the Ahi Sandwich and the Adobo Pork Belly Bowl. Great flavor on both dishes and the Pork Belly is so tender. I love the crunch on the Ahi Roll and Sandwich too! Make sure to get the Banana Poi Bread, you won't regret it!! We decided to save the deserts for later. They both stayed moist and the banana poi bread was especially good and keeps well in the fridge for a morning snack in the hotel. Highly recommend stopping by

OMG, I just had the apple strudel at this place and it was just heavenly!!!! The lady who has helped me Rose, was super nice, I really enjoyed talking to her. Even the chef himself came out of the kitchen to say Hi. The place is super clean, it is easy to see that it is run by a true professional. Chef Ron really cares about the food he makes and he only accepts perfection. My apple strudel was so good that I am returning here to grab lunch for my kids! Highly recommend!

While I was waiting for my car as it was being serviced at a local dealership, I search Google Maps for nearby restaurants. I am so glad that I decided on this restaurant! It was a little hard to find, but worth it. The customer service was great, and I was really happy with her recommendations. The Olena Burger is actually the best burger I've eaten on this island, and the truffle fries were so delicious! I was sad that my toddler ate all of it. 😅 I almost didn't order the Filipino lemonade because I thought it may be too sour with calamansi, but the pineapple gave it the right balance.

OMG! I am usually not that impressed by take out places, but this place really amazed me! So much so, I went back 4 days later (2 of which they were closed - Sun-Mon) and dragged my friends with me on our way to the airport so I could have another Filipino lemonade and new dishes. Rose helped me out both days, suggesting dishes and answering all my questions about the menu. Wow, just wow! I still reminisce about the pork belly musubi from time to time. And that Salmon puff… I can’t wait to go back to Hawaii next time so that I can once more taste the wonderful food from this amazing hole in the wall!

Another signature plate from Olena by Chef Ron, Fresh Ahi Roll. Ahi is fresh, outside of roll is crunchy, and tastes YUM! Even this is sushi, you can eat with green salad. If you have beer, it is even better! I highly recommend to try this plate.

This was a total chance find. I haven't been to the Dole Cannery in years and was wanting to see what there was to eat in their food court. Well not very much, but it just so happened that I found OlenaHi which had recently opened. What a great find and I was so happy I ventured in and ate there. The menu is limited to daily what seems like about 3 different specials. All are sort of an Asian/American fusion. The Beef Brisket Bahn Mi stood out and I just had to have it. That was a perfect pick! The beef brisket was succulent and dripping with flavor on a not so typical roll that was sort of soft yet firm and elastic on the crust, making it perfect to hold in the soft meat while retaining juices and toppings. The services there is over the top friendly. I watched them help people before me and then I got the same warm and friend, cheery greeting and attention. Overall, it was a big pleasant surprise and something I want to go back and try more.

So very good! It was hard to decide what to order as everything is made from scratch and sounded amazing. I was going to have the Red Wine Beef stew, but it was sold out for the day. Chef Ron makes it over 2 days, nice and slow. The Filipino lemonade was the perfect light drink to complement the meal. Counter service only with no tables, but there is a counter you can stand and eat. Ample free parking. Chef Ron and his wife Rose were very friendly. Walk across the street after your meal and check out the Honolulu Chip Company for chips right out of the fryer.

Stop what you’re doing and go to ‘Ōlena. This restaurant is in an unassuming industrial area, and completely exceeded expectations. Chef Ron’s wife helped with our order and guided through the delicious menu as we couldn’t decide what to order with so many options. In the end she “prescribed” the blackened ahi tuna sandwich with truffle fries and I asked for aioli sauce on the side. Filipino lemonade/calamansi drink on the side. It all was delicious, packed with flavor and texture. I will be back.

I absolutely love this place. Their food is amazing. It's a Grab and Go spot so dont expect seating but get there before the rush because the food goes fast. EVERYTHING tastes beyond great. My favorite has to be the Pork Belly Masubi. This is the one place I've been where the photos match the food. The flavors are phenomenal and owners wife makes you never want to leave. I crave Filipino lemonade now. I love my new Chinese mom!

Kind people, tasty food, great service! First time here. I ordered the pork belly bahn mi and the Filipino lemonade. The bahn mi was juicy and flavorful. The lemonade was good with little fruit bits at the bottom. I would definitely go back.

The fish and chips, drinks, and bahn mi were delicious! The batter was super thin on the fish and everything was so fresh and was a perfect lunch on a hot day. The drinks with pineapple bits were delicious. Rose and her family were super friendly and generous. Definitely take the time to stop by!

Food was amazing if you’re looking for local flavor and you can tell everything is made with clean and quality ingredients and a little love! We got fish and chips, pork belly sandwich, brisket bowl, and red beef stew. We cleaned our plates. Service was top notch! The lady made us feel so at home and she was so hospitable! We would definitely go again. Don’t pass on the sweets!

Today I had the pork belly Bahn mi bowl with the olena rice, pickled daikon and carrots and a royal purple and yellow calamansi and pineapple tea!! Y’all! It was amazing!! I wanted to take a picture but after I had that first bite I was transported to a culinary heaven and I couldn’t take myself out of the moment to take a picture…sorry, not sorry. Auntie Rose, who is the owner (along with her husband, the chef, Ron,) gave my daughter a complimentary pea tea out of the kindness of her heart. Great people and amazing food! Even though I was decently full after my meal I felt energized and not bloated which is sometimes a problem for me if I eat certain foods but, I felt amazing all day after eating there. They only cook with the best, high quality meats and produce and you can tell in how you feel after eating and in the flavor. Please if you’re wondering wether or not to dine here just stop reading now. You will NOT be disappointed! In fact, you will have your new favorite restaurant! I think I’m going to have to make another trip down from the North Shore to town JUST to eat there again this week!

No words can describe the joy I have eating a fresh meal and drinking colorful juice from Olena's. A must meal every time I'm in Honolulu. Don't miss out on the beef stew! Old photo from a previous visit attached.

WHEN ARE YOU REOPENING?? This information is as crucial to me as knowing who will make the Superbowl and possibly more crucial than the question of world peace. Fish and chips are amazing - my British husband said they beat any he has had although he did add that mushy peas would be most welcome. The beef stew is stupendous; be sure to get the special Olena rice. Filipino lemonade and plantation ice tea marvelous. Former has a real zing and the latter goes down real easy, not too sweet. But the best thing of all is the warmth of Rose - I would drive half the island just to chat with her. Aloha out of every conceivable orifice. Much love and open up soon!
