I should have read the comments on Yelp carefully. I realizedsome people have the same comments. Worst doctor I have ever seen. Sold us a solution for 65 dollars which you can easily find it on Amazon for 20 dollars.He is more like a businessman rather than a doctor. He was kind of mad to look for substitute eyedrop for "LOW INCOME INSURANCE(exactly wordsfrom his mouth in front of his staff and other patients)" He gave my daughter a prescription which is not covered by the insurance. When we visited him next appointment he said we should have called him to change it. When I went to drug store to pick up the next prescription he gave my daughter. There was none. He forgot about giving the second one. So I followed his suggestion and called his office to get the prescription, no one called me in three days. I had to make another appointment to get it. Maybe he only serves those who have the high income insurance.

First, I want to mention that Dr.Sakamoto did a remarkable job of providing the service that we came in for. He was very professional and sweet to my grandma struggling to speak fluent English. Second, I want to state that the person in charge at the front office made us feel uncomfortable as it felt like she was giving us attitude. And before us, there was an old sweet Filipino couple who also felt the same just by observing their body language and facial expression.

My husband and I both got glasses and sunglasses here a year ago. It took months for the glasses to come in and when they finally did my husband’s lenses didn’t properly fit his frame. At the time we were too polite to reconcile our issues and figured we’d adjust to our new prescriptions but six months later we are both still experiencing issues.

I have been going to Dr. Sakamoto for a few years, but his newest receptionist is exceedingly rude. I had called multiple times to make an appt and the voicemail said to text. After a couple of texts, she said the text function isn’t working correctly and that I must have called during lunchtime, which I didn’t. Then during the appointment she was rude about my insurance which hasn’t changed year over year. I confirmed with Dr. Sakamoto and said there was no issue.

Over the last month I have sent several online new patient appointment request and have called several times during business hours. I haven’t received a response from this business at all. It’s been over a month. As a medical professional this is deplorable service and as a person of color this is discriminatory. If this business can’t serve people of all races then it shouldn’t be in business. I don’t recommend this place.

Dr. Randall Sakamoto of the Ala Moana Advanced Eye Clinic is a gem in Waikiki! The modern diagnostic equipment made for a touch-less and comfortable visit. In addition to my eye exam, we discussed my eye health, and supplemental care measures such as diet and daily fish oil supplements. The office also carries a wide inventory of lenses for reducing exposure to blue light from LED monitors and phone screens. I had a great visit and felt special because of the way I was treated, and I'm sure you will like Dr. Sakamoto and his efficient staff. I was only disappointed in the fees I was charged. Before the eye exam I was told at the front desk it would cost $150.00 After the exam I was charged over $450.00 for additional tests. I wish I was informed of the additional costs during the exam. 😭

Dr. Sato is a wonderful doctor and fantastic person!!! I highly recommend this office to anyone looking for a an eye doctor!! Perhaps you should just switch to who I consider to be the best!! Ala Moana Advanced Eye Clicic!!

I’ve been going to Dr. Sakamoto for many years now. The staff are always polite and accommodating. Dr. Sakamoto knows the eye well and has helped treat my dry eyes with success. I learned I had a astigmatism and he has also helped me find the right contact lens for my sight. Utilizing the opto maps tech, he is also able to look into my eyes health, which has always been very helpful. I can’t thank Dr. Sakamoto and his team enough for their eye care services. Highly recommended!

Staff is very friendly as well as Dr. Very knowledgeable and helpful to ensuring that I have the right script and style of frames. I’ve always had a pleasant experience with each visit. My visits have been quick, patient, and efficient.

5 stars for Dr. Sakamoto and his technician and receptionist. They were all so professional and respectful. I come here because I wear ortho K lenses and they are on the forefront for this type of treatment. They work with VSP insurance and are located in downtown Honolulu on 20th floor (above Hawaii First Bank). Parking is close to Ala Moana mall for free.

I'll always highly recommend Dr Sakamoto and his staff as they are the most professional eye care clinic that I've visited. I started going there approximately 7 years ago. Dr Sakamoto is very personable and extremely smart! His small office provides a personalized approach to Eye Care.

Dr. Sato was amazing! I have been going to a family optometrist my whole life and Dr. Sato’s modern techniques was refreshing! She has definitely improved my life with her suggestions and contact fitting! I would give her 10 out of 5 stars.

Great place and most advance eye testing in the state. There’s no other! I want to know ahead of time whether I have any diseases early, not by tradition means. I don’t to walk out being blind by dilation solutions. Their machine can look behind your eye without dilating.

During our visit to Ala Moana Advance Eye Clinic, I usually see Dr. Sato and my wife would see Dr. Sakamoto. But this visit, Dr. Sato was not working (miss seeing her already, haha), so I had to settle for Dr. Sakamoto. As from my previous postings, the Doctors here are very friendly, patience, easy to talk too and very knowledgeable. Always using the most advance technology. They always make you feel at ease. And the staff, always friendly, courteous and greets you with a smile. There is always something new to learn during our visits. And the selection of frames of prescription glasses and sun glasses are awesome...always making the choice hard because you would want it all. Highly recommend Ala Moana Advance Eye Clinic (Dr. Sakamoto and Dr. Sato and Staff) for your next eye exam. What are you waiting for?
