Amazing Banyan Tree, Indian Fig Tree , Related to the Ficus Tree. This is the same type of tree that was used in the movie Avatar. Imported more than 200 years ago. There is one in Lahaina Maui that is 2/3 of an acre. There is one in India over 25 acres. One of many gems in Hawaii's precious paradise. Stay safe everyone. Respect the land, sea and people of this very special place. Live with Aloha in your hearts.

Beautiful beach but consider these pro tips! #1 - it's busy! #2 - if you plan to be there during the heat of the day, arrive by 9 am or so and rent an umbrella. Umbrella and 2 chairs cost $30 for two hours or $50 for 1/2 day. WORTH IT!!! #3 - It's busy. #4 - surf if you are able but get lessons if you don't have experience. They may seem expensive but doing so will guarantee a great experience. #5- Ya gotta see the sunset here! Drop in for a drink at the Moana (fantastic but pricey cocktails) and enjoy the view! #6 - I rated it 4 stars because it's very busy but it's a must visit while you are here.

First time here and the beach was amazing. There was one side where we could swim and the opposite side had lots of waves. The water was so blue it was beautiful. The temperature of the water was nice on this summer day. The only con was how packed it was but later in the evening it was better. Watching the sunset was a perfect ending to a lovely beach day.

Simply gorgeous beach. It gets busy but that’s part of its charm and there’s always a spot available in the sand for you to put your towel. We even saw turtles out at the reefs. If you’re not a beach person, come to watch the sunsets! Legendary.

You will watch there the most beautiful sunsets. It gets busy during the day but it doesn’t make in unattractive at all. The clean blue water is just amazing. There are showers 🚿 in every 100 meters and the shops are just on the other side of the street. You can find super expensive and affordable options for accommodations around this area. If you’re on a budget take the city bus to get here or discover the island. A day ticket is just 8 dollars. Definitely recommend this beach if you don’t care about crowds.

ULTRA TOURISTY but a great beach. Not as much sand as I expected however the waves are great. It's a long shallow water, so you are able to walk/swim out there for a good distance. Rented a surf board at a local shop and went surfing, the waves were all small but it was great

Waikiki Beach is stunning. Crystal blue waters, soft buttery sandy beaches. Lots of shopping opportunities at super high end boutiques and retailers. The restaurant and food options are endless. We took surfing lessons right off the beach and were so excited to learn to surf. Please note * Beat the crowds and arrive early to rent a cabana and chairs about $60.00 for shade package or bring your own umbrella.

Waikiki beach is a super fun beach. Very accessible with tons of shops, restaurants and rental places around there is a lot to do here. Easy for families that are in hotels nearby to walk to. There is rock barricaded area that makes for calm waters for swimming and enjoying chilled water activities. Another section of the shoreline has plenty of waves for boogie boarding etc. There is volleyball court and of course plenty of sand to enjoy your day out on the beach. This is not a quite and secluded beach. It's bustling with lots of people and activities and that is a party if it's charm.

Great place to be. Incredibly nice people. Everywhere you are going the "aloha" vibe is in the air. The beaches are great for sunbathing, but you can find as well a lot of surfing areas . The food is delicious, from local to Korean and also fast foods.

Second trip here. Post pandemic.... LOTS OF TOURISTS!!! A bit overwhelming but you eventually assimilate into the ebb and flow. Hit the strip to check the box....but you must get out side of Waikiki. Recharge the batteries in your hotel then go forth and venture out. So much to see outside of the confines of Waikiki. Definitely will return... it's a must on a vacation getaway.

This is really beautiful downtown beach. If you looking for three things - Sun & Beautiful ocean & civilization - this is for you. Now is much cleaner then used to be. The best time to enjoy the clean ocean water is in the morning. The beautiful panoramic sunset is in the evening. The lifeguards are very helpful with safe swimming (jellyfish and waves… information is everywhere), really good and safe area for kids. In the afternoon the water is not so good like in the morning but the beauty of sunset is inviting many people….

Great beach. Not any trash along the beach. A little rocky when first getting in the water. Perfect place if you like to swim with waves. The waves are not to big but not too small. The sunset is amazing.

Waikiki beach. The place you go to if you win the price is right or wheel of fortune. Super crowded. Even during Covid. But awesome water, easy waves. And nice for families. Other than the vagrants walking around smoking weed. I ate McDonald’s breakfast here with my shirt off, and it was wonderful.

amazing, clean beach, crowded at certain times of the day. I loved it because since dawn there are surfers waiting for the waves to practice, no matter their age, from a very young age they had been taught by the parents to get on the board, middle-aged children practicing and the experts already prepared to enjoy the day. In different areas the atmosphere is excellent. Without a doubt, it is a beach that I would return to.

Good ole Waikiki Beach. It's a good beach, but it is just crowded. I went during March, Spring break month and it wasn't bad. Still had a great time. It's beautiful and there are a lot of rental activities (surfboards, wake, snorkels, beach umbrella, chairs, etc....Food and shopping is all located nearby and has plenty of choices. All the hotels are mostly located in the Waikiki area so you can take a short walk to the beach. You can find good snorkeling towards the north end at Queen's Beach. If you rent a car, definitely go check out beaches on other parts of the island like Ma'kaapu beach and North shore beaches.

Very clear water - combination of green and clear. Unique thing is that it’s such a flat beach for such a long stretch. You would feel like you are in the middle of the ocean and still on your feet. I rented floaters to relax on the water. Views are breadth-taking. It’s really crowded though and chairs+umbrella cost $60-$80 a day. Great restaurants in the proximity. Actual beach area is very small so it gets real crowded

I have a new love for Waikiki Beach!! It's been 33 years since I've been here (6.17.1990), and they have made massive improvements to this Beach front area. There are lots of restaurants and places to get coffee and drinks. The beach is clean with public access. and they had plenty of places to relax on the beach alongside the resorts. You can surf, boogie board and snorkel here. Come check out Waikiki Beach for a fun chill day!!

What a great place. The night life and vibe is amazing. A lot of restaurants, bars and shops. Nice sandy beach. The water temperature is also very pleasant!

Suggestive place… Amazing! Makes you feel so comfortable! Waikiki Beach is an absolute tropical paradise. Golden sands, azure waves perfect for surfing, and a vibrant atmosphere make it a dream destination. Breathtaking sunsets, top-notch resorts, and a blend of culture and relaxation create an unforgettable Hawaiian experience!

It's an elite part of Honolulu full of any designer store you might know and high end hotels. There are still a few of the older hotels where you can find lower priced accommodations, but don't expect to find Best Western pricing on the strip. Airbnb condos can be rented for a good value per night. It really depends on where you want to be and what you want for amenities. There aren't many so book early if you are looking for a deal. The beach itself is a city park and free to set up a beach chair and umbrella, or you could rent umbrellas with a chair near the police station. This is also where to find public restrooms. Surfers are everywhere and there is a stall on the beach to sign up for lessons near the same area. Night life in Waikiki has many options for bar hopping or just strolling along the stores and restaurants with many open late. At the International Market Place there is a luau that is a favorite attraction. Make reservations early as all luaus in Hawaii sell out. Also, at this same location there is a rental car desk if you want a car for exploring the island. Please see my reviews of restaurants if you're looking for places to dine while staying in Waikiki.

Well, beautiful but Hella crowded. You have to go while in the islands, but you don't have to stay there. Good people watching. If you want to try surfing there are schools right on the beach and plenty of students in the water. Food and restroom are close. The beach restrooms are discusting..shockingly so in a high value tourist area.

We went on the weekend and weekdays, was not busy at all for us in the morning (7am) but it gets on the busier side throughout the day, but never overly crowded. We could always find a nice spot on the beach, has options if you want to be in the waves or in a blocked off area that is mostly calm (still is connected to the ocean). Waves never get very large but we could still body surf.

Visit Hawaii you won’t be disappointed! my wife and I spent a week there and we both loved it from beginning to end. Peoples here are very friendly and make tourists feel welcome. Hawaii is one of those places where most peoples make their income from truism, tip generously and buy local made stuff. I recommend a helicopter tour so you can see it better. Respect their rules and traditions and have fun at these beautiful Islands.

The most overrated beach in Hawaii, since it is public and also being the most famous public beach in the city of Honolulu, the beach is crowded, too many tourists in this public beach. But still, I can't ignore the beauty of this beach. Despite being too overcrowded, this beach is still beautiful

Beautiful and stunning beach. I am very grateful to be able to capture the sunset like this and share with everyone. The sand feels great on your feet. Many people were at the beach swimming surfing sunbathing etc. You can go way out if you like and its very relaxing. Shops are near by to grab some food souvenirs or hotels.

One of the most iconic American beaches and the most famous beach in Hawaii. On one side, a beautifully landscaped street with many shops, restaurants, high-rise hotels and a beautiful palm park, on the other side, a crystal clear turquoise ocean. The beach is clean, public and free.

First off, it's a very nice beach, not the best, second, expect there to be a crowd, also, there are a higher than average number of homeless people in this area. Just find yourself a good spot and enjoy the warmth and that water. Plus the view of Diamond Head is right off to your left. I also recommend climbing that. You may also choose to surf and or scuba while you are there. Rent a car and drive the whole island. Look for a luau, and look for Turtle Beach, and don't forget to check out the sunsets.

The water is crystal blue. The sand is soft. There are so many stores around so I can have breakfast or lunch then go straight to the beach. Remember to bring water shoes for sensitive feet.

Beach is large and nice. Gets very busy being that’s right off the city. We stayed at the Twin Fin which offered excellent views and was right across the street. Lots of restaurants and shopping all along the beach. Firework show was a great way to end the day as well.

  • 5/5 Hugh K. 1 year ago on Google
Iconic Beach in a busy tourist area so expect crowds. Plenty of food and drink available from convience shop to high end bars and restaurants. For photos of the beach and Diamond Head, best time is afternoon when the sun is in the right position.

First time to the famous Waikiki Beach and was NOT disappointed! Watching surfers from pre dawn to past sunset. Such a welcoming energy and laid back atmosphere. For the most part, it was very clean. Places to shower off the sand. My favorite part? Stopping with everyone to quietly watch the sunset with respect and awe.

Loved it! But! Lots of coral here so make sure you wear water shoes. Water and scenery is beautiful. Lots of shade if you need it, but not next to the beach.

An awesome beach with long white sand beaches and areas of shallow water where the waves are minimal. Very popular for wading, surfing, beach volleyball, or just strolling. Can be super crowded on weekends. The ocean is nice aqua blue color when the sun is shining. It's right off the street with lots of restaurants, hotels, and shops.

We were just planning on going for a walk in the area. However, our 6 year old daughter wanted to play in the water for a while. The sand is very nice here and the beach is full of people even at 10am in the morning. The water is especially cooling. I can see why it's very busy here. We played for a short while.

Learn to surf , sip a first drink from a fresh pineapple, or just lay on the warm tropical sand ! Either way it's gonna be a great day on Waikiki beach! The stretch is hugged with shopping and restaurants. Try a dole pineapple ice cream (dairy free) or the famous shaved ice! . Get some local beer and try spam musubi or a poke bowl. And don't forget to buy some chocolate covered macadamia nuts, Aloha shirt, coffee, ukulele and local jewelry. Support the locals, they walk along the beach selling a coconut cake (it's only $10 for an entire cake)

This beach is amazing! It's right next to the police station so there's honestly nothing much to worry about. The beach itself is kept impeccably clean, hardly any trash, and easily accessible. I will note there are quite a few homeless individuals who frequent the area in the mornings and evenings, we did experience a homeless gentleman shouting obscenities at locals but as the police station is right at the entrance to the beach he was able to receive help fairly quickly. The water is stunning. Early morning you can expect all the surfers and mild sun. By afternoon the sun is blazing so rent an umbrella because you will need it and also a popular time to line the beach. But we never experienced crowding. Evenings are also a popular time to relax and enjoy some sun without overheating. The views from Waikiki are also stunning you can see all around the island to diamond head to urban Honolulu.

Didn’t give it a 5* just because it’s so populated. I know it’s one of the main beaches everyone goes to but dang. Beautiful shopping centers and you can find whatever you need down the strip. Be careful with the “homeless” as there are many of them around there. Great surfing beach and rentals as well. They actually have a nice divider from the heavy waves so little children can go into the water. Pass the divider and that’s where all the surfers go. Since the beach is pretty much downtown, I wouldn’t walk alone if you’re a female as stated above. The homeless are bad out there but other than that it’s a beautiful look beach.

Every moment we share, every move you made, every shot is a beautiful painting, you don't need to filter your photos here, it's paradise honey, lovely place and cute people, laughing and enjoying breeze, sunshine and beach. I was overjoyed lol, Waikiki is a very attractive spot for both tourists and locals, you can find everything you want and need here.

Beautiful beach and very very much crowded. No need to wear mask here .. just go and enjoy the beautiful water . There are lots of surf board you can rest here and you can see lots of surfers and it's very beautiful to watch . Kids can have fun at the beach sand . There are police station at the main entrance and restroom. They are almost clean even with these much crowd that's very nice . There is huge baniyan tree at the entrance. Lots of shops for cloths , food and restaurants at beach front.
