A chill park for fishing and to enjoy nature in Wahiawa. The park is relatively small but has the basic facilities like picnic tables, restrooms and water fountains. There's not a lot of people there so it's nice to enjoy if you like a peaceful park, but occasionally young fishing folks will blast music as they fish with their peers which adds to the local vibes. We had a lovely picnic here before continuing with the rest of our day.

Nice park but lots of rubbish. Especially near the waters edge. They got to do a better job keeping this place clean. There is also a sign saying no Dogs! We live in the most Dog unfriendly State in the World. Either that or people cannot control their animals which sucks for those of who do.

Because of its "off the beaten path" location, this park and its restrooms are always clean. Yes, there are homeless living nearby, but they're not in the park. See it as an opportunity to do something nice for someone, on your way out, say hi, and bring them some food.

What great hidden park in Wahiawa, went exploring and found this gem. Came back for a picnic and loved how empty it was and also love the picnic tables ahead throughout this park. Bathrooms are clean and the park is very well kept, I think we found our newest picnic spot! It's very small and great for exploring little toddlers.

Lake Wilson, or the Wahiawa freshwater recreation area, is a fun small park with a boat ramp to a damned river freshwater lake. Shore fishing could catch you a peacock bass or a cat fish. Some of the regulars tell stories of an alligator or piranha, but always with a wink and chuckle.

I do not like how they close so early, the park is clean but the water is not the city/ state needs to take care of this problem I thought everyone wanted to go green but this waterway speaks for itself. I highly recommend not swimming in this water either.

I love the jungle-like atmosphere in this place. It's refreshing and rejuvenating. It's all fresh water coming down from the mountains forming a river that runs over a mile. There's a small ramp in here for loading/unloading boats.

Nice relaxing spot! Definitely not anything spectacular but they have nice benches near the water great for killing time or relaxing. I also saw a lot of people fishing. Very quiet and chill.

My first visit to Wahiawa Freshwater State Recreational area was a huge surprise. My visit was on a Wed. afternoon and recreation area was almost empty. First stop was the boat landing area. Ample parking, benches and a nice view of the lake. You seem isolated however the road noise is not completely blocked by the trees. As I was driving in I noticed numerous picnic tables that were empty during my visit. Definitely a replace to return to. This would be a great break area in a round the island tour.

No dogs allowed. Mosquitoes central. Under Reconstruction of parking in back. Guy, who takes care of the park, is friendly and cool. Will talk to park goers. No Playground.

It's a nice quiet place to hang out at. It may not be the biggest park but it's out of the way from the typical hustle and bustle.

The park is well maintained. Once you go out to the right part of the lake, however, there are a ton of homeless people who have trashed the whole lake and made it an ecological disaster. One can only hope that the state taking over the lake will upkeep it much better than it is now. Such a shame.

I do not recommend this place honestly place itself is nice but the other side of lake there is bunch of vagrant roofless people and their trash straight to the lake.

Fresh water fishing with permit... Clean bathrooms and a really.. really lovely park

We looked at the park out of curiosity. Although there were park facilities like picnic tables, the few that were there used it for fishing. We walked around on the limited paths which helped us unwind from heavy traffic up the Kamehamwha Hwy.

If you like fishing, this is a spot for you. Just be careful not to fall down straight to the water as the area is kind of dangerous. There are also tables for chilling; cemented pathways for walking/running. There is a restroom but it is very dirty that I could not even dare to use it. Anyway, the area is okay for simple kill-time. At least the spot is cool and breezy.

Water is pretty dirty. However, park is pristine...well maintained. Lots of parking.

  • 5/5 Nathaniel T. 2 years ago on Google
Nice and beautiful scenery it's just that the water can be very murky and the woods surrounding the area can look spooky. But that's the good part of it. Whether or not it seems scary that's what an adventure is about.

The Wahiawa Freshwater State Park is an amazing place to explore a tranquil environment in nature. I highly suggest for kayaking and fishing, however you’ll need a permit for freshwater fishing and also vehicle access (especially if you have a trailer/boat).
