According to my sibling, this place had the best honey garlic chicken. Unfortunately, s/he didn't order the honey garlic chicken, so s/he kept stealing mine! I tried some of her/his chicken katsu though, and it was delicious! Unfortunately, the restaurant took a while to finish my order and had to confirm what I ordered too. Regardless, lovely meal. I just wish they used less plastic.

Not bad in a pinch, but not quite the taste and value of L&L. I got their version of the beef stew mixed plate, so direct comparison seems appropriate. Firstly, it is the same price but about half the portion size I got at L&L. Stew, mac salad, and hamburger steak were all pretty good quality similar to L&L. The teri beef was mediocre with far too much ginger. Aside from the teri beef, it was a good tasting meal and I didn't feel hungry as I left.

The mini stew plate was good maybe should have gotten the large. Food has been good here everytime I've eaten here. Kinda pricey though but I understand. Also if owners reading this put a tip option on your credit/debit purchases.

It's an older plate lunch restaurant, but it hit the spot, especially at the price point most of the items are priced at. There were a few items listed on the menu that were no longer available, such as kalua pork. Service was quick and the staff nice. I will return again the next time I am in the area.

Stopped in at the Islander Drive Inn for a quick bite. Had a mini loco moco and it hit the spot. Right proportion of gravy to meat and rice. The Mac salad was very good. Next time I will get the full plate so I can have two eggs. Place was clean and the guy who helped me was very nice.

My family and I live fairly close by. We decided to give this place a try one night and we loved the food. When I arrived to pick up my order I was greeted with a warm welcome. The cashier was nice and polite to me just like she was when I ordered on the phone. unfortunately I didn’t catch her name. The food was still nice and warm when I got home. My family and I agreed the food was good and saved this place as a place we’d like to come back to. I went today to grab a late lunch for us. Was still yummy and the food was nice and warm. The portions are good, but then again I don’t eat much so what may be a good portion for me might not be considered a good portion for you. I don’t have to wait long and I’m always greeted when I come inside. The same cashier as last time was working today. I definitely need to ask for her name next time lol!!! Because there will be a next time!

I've been coming to Islander for many years to buy food for my mom ... now that she's in a retirement home I haven't found the need to come by very often. I was at Longs so I stopped by to pick up something for myself ... the fried rice with BBQ meat plate. This was something special back in the day but this plate was disappointing. The fried rice was pretty bland and the BBQ meat was dry. Did something happen to one of my favorite places to get a plate lunch? I'll give them one more chance the next time I'm in Salt Lake ....

A group of 4 of us showed up tonight at 7:40 to get some food. We waited 15 minutes for one of the people looking at us from the kitchen to take our order and they never did, pretty disappointing.

Fantastic spot for some delicious food. We took the family here on the way back to Colorado and had an awesome dinner. This is a smaller establishment but it still felt spacious. We tried steak, chicken, coconut shrimp, and fried oysters. This is tucked away in a shopping center and was difficult to find but worth locating. The cashier was exceptionally patient as our kids took additional time to figure out what they wanted.

The quality of the food is good enough to continue eating there to be fair. Although, there was a very bitchy cashier that gave that sassy aura when a customer in front of me couldn't exactly get the name of the food item he wanted. More or less, I would agree that their honey garlic chicken plate is amazing! I'd give it a 8/10 for the taste and quality!

The food is decent got the burger and mochiko chicken. The only negative is they charge their customers 3% credit/debit fee (which is what processors charge them for the convenience of letting their customers pay with a card

Food was delicious!! I got the teriyaki beef, rice and Mac salad. Rice was fresh sticky and most meet perfectly cooked. Mac salad delicious! BUT the place is not clean at all. The floors look like they haven’t been mopped in a year and the walls are dirty. Table tops were clean. Food came out fast and hot. No line.

Gotta start off with the best plate lunch I ever had. The Garlic Honey Chicken!! Amazing plate lunch spot in Moanalua / Salt Lake area. They give great portion sides. More than enough for the prices. Fast service and super friendly. I have eaten here 4 times and have never been disappointed in the quality of food. Ate so quickly forgot pictures. Once you try their food, you will understand 🙂
