One of my favorite place to go. Food is consistent and friendly service. Burmese salad is highly recommended. They make fermented tea leaves in-house. I enjoyed food in Myanmar (Burma) now I continue to have a piece of Burma when in Honolulu. I recommend making reservations in advance even during the weekdays to avoid the disappointment.

The staff was quick and to the point. I wouldn't consider her friendly or knowledgeable on what to recommend. The food was good and served quickly. The salad was on the crunchy side and not my preferred item. The samosa, spicy chili and the kebat were delicious. I didn't care for the pumpkin stew either. The parking is limited in the little alley way entrance right before the restaurant if coming from King and University.

Cute little place but with all the good food surrounding it, skip it. Service took forever but I am fine with slow service if the food is good. Got the Burmese lamb curry and it had little white worms under the meat in the curry (not alive). I didn’t see this until I was halfway done. The curry itself was too sweet and syrupy, like the microwaved Costco kind. Don’t go here if you don’t want to be scarred from eating lamb curry ever again. I should’ve been warned by the lack of Burmese/South Asian reviewers on google/Yelp.

~*Service was extremely slow. We were a party of 4. We ordered the appetizer platter which is basically fried food. It came out 40 minutes after we ordered it and some entrees came out before it. It was not good at all. All the entrees came out at different times. It’s cool if you are sharing the dish with others. Try an entree, rest a bit, get a new dish. My veggie soup was horrible! 🤢 I was really disappointed considering the menu listed it as a favorite. The sauce for the salmon was tasty. The salmon tasted like it was previously frozen and way overcooked. I couldn’t eat it because of the texture. The mango chicken had good sauce, the mangoes were not ripe. The biryani was really good and full of flavor. My waitress was kind and apologized for the delays. She worked all the tables with no help. There were 2 people working in the kitchen and she apologized for the flow of service. Overall, I would prob never come back with my family. I may order some biryani when I crave it and dine alone. They have potential but the pandemic has probably had affected them and the level of service as well. That is why I was gracious and gave 3 stars.*~

We were a party of 8 (reserved table) on a Thursday evening. The service was fast & friendly, the prices reasonable I thought, and the presentation of the dishes was very pleasing and the portions sizes were good. The dishes were both interesting and tasted good. We tried both tea leaf salads and a good mixture of entries. Nice atmosphere with some Burmese decor. Street parking only, on Thursday no problem. Will return again to explore other dishes.

Loved it. Spiced perfectly had a wide variety of choices for us between vegan and non vegan eaters. Made accomodations since I cannot eat curry. I had shrimp skillet and calamari salt and pepper. ( suggest to ask for sweet chili sauce to dip calamari) Yum. Since my first time cannot give a five but suspect they certainly could be.

Even tho there's a sister Restaurant in Chinatown, I love this location. It's so quaint and the food is just as delicious. And it's BYOB. Our waitress was so helpful in suggesting dishes. All were awesome.

I don't know if this place is indicative of all Burmese food for but if it is, it's my new favorite cuisine. We are vegetarian and every dish was excellent. Hostess was very nice and friendly and seated us even though the table was reserved soon. If I lived near them I would definitely be a regular. Price is also a great value for the quality of the food.

Hidden gem in Honolulu. I would describe it as a combo of Thai/Malaysian/ Burmese. Inexpensive and always exceptional.

short story go to the other Burmese place. cuisine: ok ginger salad. good, but dry coconut rice: very good. well balanced, but a bit over cooked mango shrimp curry: nice balance and tang. no heat. shrimp under done service: poor. kitchen, good. bathroom existence obscure BYOB floor, poor: understaffed for a friday with poor attention to detail. too many tables for one waitress. had this one before. she was a little salty then too. said 5 minute wait. I waited 15 and watched the single waitress handle every table on the floor after setting our table for 2. cleared 5 tables, delivered 3, 4 empty, made us wait outside and when I checked in at 15 minutes told me she said 10 and asked me to wait outside again. ambiance: OK.

Everything was absolutely delicious and service was efficient We ordered the Dagon Salad (fresh, crunchy, garlicky) yellow curry with Potatoes and Lamb (tender, flavorful lamb and delicious curry) and the red curry with eggplant which had such a rich, complex, umami flavor to it! Eggplant was cooked perfectly and served in generous big slices Despite being a busy and reservation filled night, the host and server was very nice and worked out a table for us. I’ll definitely be back with friends!

The food here is beautifully prepared and presented. The ingredients seem very fresh and of high quality. Great vegetarian options. The server was helpful, knowledgeable, and pleasant. I hadn't had Burmese food before, and found it refreshing, delicate, flavorful, and delightful! We found parking on King Street.

Mainly recommend the soups! The other dishes were good but definitely not as memorable.

A great Burmese restaurant! We were a group of nine and managed to reserve a table on the same day. It was a feast of rich flavours and spices. We ordered: laphet (the traditional fermented tea leaf salad unique to Burma), mango salad, vegetable samosas, stuffed tofu, chicken biryani, vegetable kebat, beef and potato curry, lamb coconut curry and chilli prawns. All dishes were delicious and enjoyed by the group, most of whom have never tried Burmese food. Though very tasty, the weakest dish according to my Burmese partner was the tea leaf salad, since the tea leaves were very sparingly used, meaning the dish lacked the usual punch that we are used to having at home or with relatives, but we figured it’s a difficult and expensive ingredient to source on the islands. Still, worth ordering to get a hint of what is one of the most interesting salads in the world!

Have visited Dagon with groups several times in the past and have always enjoyed a variety of their dishes. The food this time did not disappoint. Was excellent as always. One thing that seems to routinely be an issue though is the wait time to have your order taken. They have fairly high staff turnover and could use more people. Would give 5 stars every time were it not for the service. Regardless, we'll be back!

Dagon was a lovely experience, we were sure to make reservations as seating is limited and this is a popular place. Parking was available on the street with no problem either. Our waitress and hostess ( same ) checked our vax cards and IDs and got us seated she was attentive and got us water and drinks right away. We had plenty of time to look over the menu and make our decisions but unfortunately this is where things started to slow down a bit. She still did a great job but she was the only one working which seems to be the case in a lot of places these days. No biggie we weren't pressed for time but some small irritations with getting some of the items. The food was all cooked and prepared very well and tasted great, the portions we great too. I'm no Burmese expert but everything seemed very authentic and we will definitely go back again and would highly recommend Dagon to friends and family.

This was my first time eating Burmese so I can't vouch for how authentic it is, all I know everything was delicious. My wife loves Burmese food since visiting Myanmar, so we had to try it. It's a flavorful cross between Indian, Chinese and Thai food. We got the tea leaf salad to start with, which was super refreshing. I got the garlic noodles, which was very Thai inspired and very tasty, and my wife had the lamb potato curry with Jasmine rice, which had distinct Indian influences. We also got the Burmese tofu on the side, sort of chickpea french fries - delicious. Overall, the meal was great and the service was exceptional,we'd definitely go ahead when we're back in Honolulu.

Food is exceptional, wait staff friendly. Sometimes their phone is off the hook which is annoying, but great for veg diets and meat eaters alike. Never had a bad meal here, BYOB, wont break the bank.

The Burmese lamb curry is fantastic!! The biryani (with chicken) is also delicious. I was waiting for the re-opening after the state lock down and it did not disappoint. I do think the cashier/server could be warmer and friendlier to guests. There are many other dining options nearby and customers should be shown courtesy and gratitude if they choose your establishment. I still highly recommend this restaurant.
