Brad was the best tour guide and we were able to see so much that you don't get the chance to see anywhere else. Highly recommend checking this place out!

A quaint and small museum with a good number of aircraft to climb on and in. There are some military aircraft but also an DC-8/60 that you can touch and get inside of. Why does this matter? The DC-8 and Boeing 707 were revolutionary jet aircraft that changed the way people traveled. There are few left flying and this is one you can get inside of. There are a number of rotary winged aircraft (HH-3, HH-53, UH-1 and more) to get inside of. There is also a collection of fixed wing aircraft that include some A-4s, a F-4 and propeller aircraft (there is a DC-6 that is not museum property but you can sneak off and see this old bird). All the aircraft are on the ramp, so on warm or sunny days bring water as you will get warm. There are also some Army tanks and artillery pieces outside you can clamber over, but again bring water and be prepared. The workers are friendly and knowledgeable, bathrooms are there. A good place to take the family.

This is a great museum. Looking at it from the satalite picture I wasn't really expecting to have as great as an experience as we did. I thought it was like other similar places I've been where they have some planes on display with some plaques where you walk around and look at them. This was nothing like that. We had a one on one Tour with the historian there. He told all about the aircraft and let us go in all of them. A humvee was used to Transport us around to the different areas. Our guide even told us some fun personal stories. If I could rate this higher than five stars I would. What a great experience.

Not a typical air museum - you get to touch and walk in an astounding away of military planes and support vehicles - they're not housed in a museum but right on the tarmac of the airport. Sit in the pilot seat of an UP-3A Orion and look in the bomb bay for the sticker for how to mount a 'special' bomb (a euphemism for an atomic bomb) . Slither through the opening hatch of a tank. Walk through the a vast cargo plane. Sit in the seat of an A-4 fighter, and get roam around a sea-stallion. If you're gentle, you can mess with the switches and pull on the yoke/cyclic. The two times we've been there, the staff has graciously opened, explained each of the planes and some of the fascinating history of each one. The staff really enjoys children, and as long as the little ones aren't damaging things, they encouraged them to touch and feel all the switches and knobs. They even gave our children a real helmet to put on for sitting in the A-4. You'll defiantly want to call ahead and schedule a time with the staff for the tour - the museum is not always staffed and it's a bit rustic but in a good way - it seems the spend all their money of preserving and procuring awesome planes. Oddly enough the restrooms are some of the cleanest on the island and made to look like what you'd see in a Air Force base. Be sure to poke your head in the Ready Room - looks like what you'd see on an aircraft carrier. I highly recommend a visit to this unique place

If you're interested in airplanes or helicopters, this is the place to visit. Your even allowed to go into the planes or helicopter and touch the switches. Its so cool that it's not a look but don't touch type of museum. In fact the guy who runs the museum encourages you to get into the planes or helicopters. Call him to make an appointment to go to the museum.

We enjoyed our visit, Brad one of the docents was a great host. We started our tour in a Humvee which brought a big smile to our ten year old grandson. Unlike most museums you are able to enter the aircraft, touch the controls and sit in the cockpits. Barbers Point was a Naval Air Station and Brad shared a lot of the history with us as well. Also many movies have been filmed there and even one set being constructed at the time of our visit. The movie will also star some of the aircraft at the field. Don't miss.

The best museum for children ever. My kids would beg to go there where you could touch and sit in the aircraft and equipment. The P3 Orion is originally from NAS Barbers Point. My wife actually flew on it many years ago. We got to land there for my last reenlistment they treated us like family.

Awesome tour, both Brad's we're phenomenal!!! Was stationed here with VW-3 in '56-57. All 6 of us were enthralled with the stories these gentlemen have to share about the planes & equipment. Hands-on experiences to add to memory-bank.
