An amazing Kaiseki. The open kitchen hides nothing, so you can see the tram create your meal with an efficient precision. The food is light and delicate. Fish forward, the protein was beautifully cook. However, what shined for me was the broths and the vegetables. The team was warm and would stop by and chat for a bit.

You can pick either 6 courses or 9 courses, the latter costs more than double the price of the 6 courses, which I really don’t recommend. First couple dishes taste pretty promising, but other than that, the noodle was all tangled up, uni didn’t taste fresh, and ayu was so stinky (wayyyyy too fishy!) … the porridge taste good itself, but the foie gras was quite unnecessary. Overall it’s good, but just order the 6 courses! The three extra courses were the bad ones I talked about. Another interesting part of this place is the restroom lol anything that could go wrong went wrong… Pretty cool experience with the gallery restaurant. All the ceramics are available for sale! Nice service too.

This was something amazing. Should be 6 stars. Food, service, atmosphere, was out of this world. One of the top 10 dining experiences I've ever had. We had the wine and sake sampler with our course meal. Just to be clear this is fine dining, but they did ask us if we had any allergies.

Good food but not great. You would feel surprised at first but after few courses you would feel repetitive since the flavoring are similar across courses. Also I had better Kaiseki in Bay Area before. Overall it worths 4 stars but not 5 IMO. Would still recommend ppl to come but I won’t come again. Highlight for me is the soup.

This place is awesome. All of the chefs are friendly and would like to share how they made the food with customers. The food quality is amazing as well with quite good value. I am so impressed with the soup Shiroko (白子) tempura dish. This is the top place that I will definitely visit again for my next trip to Hawaii!

Amazing Kaiseki experience, recommended by multiple friends so we HAD to go! We called in just a couple days before, and were able to secure reservations for dinner. Everything was so well-balanced and showcased each ingredient at its best. Chefs were attentive and so evidently passionate about their work, it was inspiring to watch.

It is my first time to taste kaiseki course. I assume foods are kind of fusion of Japanese and western food but the taste was very impressive. Especially their tofu fry and green onion sauce was genius. Ochazuke at the end was really great. 👌

We walked into the restaurant soaked in salt water shivering like wet dogs only to be welcome by kind staff. And we had the most wonderful meal on the island that we can never forget. We will definitely come back next time visiting Oahu.

This was a true experience. The menu was so unbelievably unique. The ingredients were of the finest and freshest quality. The service was outstanding and it was just so much fun! I will 100% be going back the next time I’m on the island. I would like to make it a goal to visit their restaurants in Japan and France as well!

Went there a few times for birthdays. The food is amazing. The menu is unique and it definitely has more character to it than most of the restaurants on the island. Love the communal vibe where you can make conversations with everyone. This makes the place welcoming.

Honestly saying, food was good and tasty and I liked the vibe in the restaurant. However, I expected more of “Sushi” type of Omakase but foods served there was more of cooked dishes. Amount of food hmm… was okay for me but not like ‘Oh I’m full’. However, I can’t complain that the price was cheap enough for course meal. Chef seemed dedicated to serve good food, just wasn’t my expectation of Omakase. If I lived in Hawaii, I’d go for anniversary for the vibe.

The prix fixe omakase 6-course looked interesting on paper. 3 watch-outs: the portions are small; there are many soup-y dishes and the “futsuu” wine pairing of 3-oz are not paired with soupy dishes. (I.e. overpriced for 4x<3oz pours); run-down/hole-in-the-wall-like bathroom is shocking given the ambience and menu offered; smell of cooked food on your clothes at the end of the meal due to the open square kitchen seating. Highlighting some of the positive aspects: beautiful serving dishes, aesthetically pleasing presentation, nice light seasoning and flavors, varied forms of tofu usage (sweet potato tofu, tempura fried sesame tofu, yuba). Would not come here again but it was an unusual experience.

What a hidden gem this place is. If you want a true taste of Japanese cuisine you have to try this place. Every month there is a new set menu prepared by chef “Yoshi”. Everything from the food to the serving plates was exquisite.

The Kaiseki is amazing and the service is great! Each dish is served in beautiful ceramics, and the servers are very friendly. The price is very fair as well. The layout of the restaurant is very nice since you can see everything that's happening in the kitchen, from cooking to plating, to dishwashing and drying. I highly recommend this place!

Great kaiseki but not the best, with warm and attentive service. Decor is unassuming. We had the 6 course set plus desserts. Overall a good mix of local and Japanese ingredients and good progression of food.

A very upscale kaiseki style dinner establishment despite the modest industrial like venue. The monthly changing set menu is usually a well thought out and perfectly executed progression of japanese based tasting portions. Customers are given the standard choice of six courses or nine. Either choice will leave you very satisfied. Plan on staying about two hours to complete your dining experience.

Really impressed. Menu was excellent. Some very interesting flavor combinations, everything was very tasty. All the staff were very engaging, enthusiastic, seemed to share all duties, and just good fun in general. The head chef made time to speak to all his guests and is a master of his art. Performance cooking at its best.

Very very good modern Kaiseki dinner Super reasonable price for the quality of food, I have to say I liked every dish except for the bell pepper mousse and that is because I’m not a fan of bell pepper. I ordered the 9 course meal but to be honest the 6 course meal is the true classic, the additional two dish (exclude dessert) look very delicious but taste ok, a bit dry for me. Probably cave to peer pressure/fomo and order 9 course anyways. But the classic 6 courses are very very good. Service is good. Ambience is modern and minimalist style.

Best meal I've ever had. The bluefin tuna sashimi was out of this world!

Nanzan Girogiro always uses creative seasonal ingredients to put together a delicious, carefully curated course. The servers are attentive, welcoming, and knowledgeable. See last photo for the Jan 2021 menu. I believe the menu is changed monthly.
