Having traveled the world specifically to eat through the World’s 50 Best Restaurants and Bars List, I certainly appreciate the creative combinations of flavor pairings here! The presentation and menu are the same caliber as many world-class and Michelin restaurants, so fine diners and hardcore foodies should definitely venture here. Unfortunately not all dishes wowed. The hits: Beef tartare Black Beard cocktail Variations of Bark dessert Short rib with meringue The misses: Dumplings Pork ribs The neutral: Chrysanthemum miso Kombucha From what we tried, there were more hits than misses, so that’s a solid positive experience in which we’d love to return to try new dishes. Definitely don’t miss the tartare, Bark dessert and Black Beard drink. Deserving of World’s Best/Michelin star recognition on those 3 alone!

Excellent cocktails menu! I love the “no tea, no shade”, Call It A Day, and Burning Tea House. You gotta put some imagination with their food menu, it’s a type of molecular cuisines. Very nice ambiance and decoration! They change their menu often. So visit more if you liked a certain item on their menu.

What a great find! Their drinks were delicious - the burning tea house cocktail was amazing in both taste and presentation. Their menu is unique and changes a lot and they’ll only tell you a few ingredients so what you get is a little bit of a surprise. My friends and I tried about six different food items and enjoyed all of them. I would certainly recommend this place to my friends and would happily go again.

Wow - This was one of the most memorable meals I’ve experienced. The creativity expressed in this menu was impressive and unlike anything I’ve ever had. Each dish was unique in flavor and concept. The offerings change every few weeks but one thing I MUST recommend are the desserts, regardless of what’s on the menu. The service was phenomenal and I can’t recommend this place enough. Great job Heiho House!

Very eclectic fusion food. We enjoyed everything especially it is something we don’t think about making at home! We were told the menu changes every 4 weeks or so, we certainly would like to try again. The entrance is not easy to find but if you are parked inside the big parking lot in Kaimuki, look for Moke’s bread & breakfast signage. The entrance is right under there. They also have limited parking space on the 11th street side which we didn’t know about. Well.. next time!

The chef was very creative with his dishes and it seemed like a lot of effort was put into it. Considering the menu changes often, I am sure that there are good dishes. With that said, I didn't find any enjoyable dishes tonight. It was not worth it for me. Two stars are for the drinks and the effort.

The most innovative restaurant on Oahu without the pretentiousness. I tried the $110 11-course omakase menu and honestly had no idea what to expect once the first several courses came out. Some of the items might make you raise your brow as they’re describing them to you, but the unique flavor combinations surprisingly worked well. The courses I particularly enjoyed were: - soft shell crab with sticky rice - seared maitake mushroom with apple streusel and cider vinegar jelly - braised beef cheeks with marshmallow - semifreddo dessert Personally, I would have replaced the sweetbread or pate course with a lighter vegetable-forward course. They were a bit heavy to start with. The bar program is excellent and is nicely tied in with the menu (e.g. tea flavors in some cocktails and dessert). They offer a $55 whisky pairing with the omakase, but I think a cocktail pairing would work even better. You’ll definitely walk out of here trying flavor combinations you’ve never tried before.

Best meal we had in Hawaii. The menu was innovative and you could tell the chef is really having fun. I’ve eaten at a lot of Asian Fusion and fine dining type restaurants, and Heiho stands out. Normally, an upscale restaurant like this charges for the quality of the ingredients, the strength of execution, the service, and the atmosphere. Heiho had all of that, plus a menu with some of the most interesting flavor profiles I’ve ever eaten. If it’s available, try the marshmallow braised short rib. The celery bulgogi was interesting but way too salty, and was probably my least favorite item. We thought we weren’t hungry and ended up eating almost everything on the menu. The dishes are on the small side so you can definitely try a large variety. For 2 people, the bill was ~$130 which was very fair for how much we ate and how fantastic the food was.

Best date night experience ever. Staff was lovely and attentive. Menu is … unique and Kiko took the time to explain things to us and make recommendations which was so kind and helpful. Every dish was special and creative, you will never experience anything like it. Don’t think about it just go! Have an open mind and palate.

Let me break down our experience at Heihō House! Reservations:  Super easy. This can be done through Resy. We booked our reservations directly through their GM, Christopher. Something to note, there is a 48-hour cancellation notice requirement. Cancellations made less than 48-hours will incur a cancellation fee. While we didn’t cancel, I figure I still share that piece of info. If you’re like me, I RARELY read the fine print! Restaurant: The restaurant is located on 11th Avenue in Kaimuki. Parking is available in front of the restaurant. There is a paid parking lot one block up from them as well as street parking. Ambiance: Walking in to the restaurant reminded me of a scene from Memoirs of a Geisha. It may have been their wooden lanterns and their shoji screens but it definitely transported me to another time/place. It was welcoming and exciting at the same time! The restaurant wasn’t too busy when we arrived. The sounds of patrons having fun, laughing, and enjoying their food filled the restaurant. The music wasn’t too loud. Food/Drinks: We started off with champagne as we perused the menu. Shortly after, we ordered a couple of cocktails. My personal favorite is their Skim to None Cocktail. Try it. Trust me. I’m going to be honest and share that I didn’t know what to expect when we decided to dine here. The dish descriptions were quite bold, to say the least, and definitely pulled me out of my comfort zone. After looking through the menu and not knowing what to order, we left it up to Christopher to choose our food…and that was probably the best decision, ever! After asking us if we had any food aversions or allergies, he set us up for what would be a pretty damn amazing food adventure! I don’t remember the names of all the dishes but we enjoyed every single dish that was brought out. As non-traditional as their flavor pairings were, our minds (and tastebuds) were absolutely blown at just how freaking awesome the dishes were! Their desserts were just as out-of-box in creation as their savory dishes, BUT just as mind-blowing and delicious! Kudos to the chef and his crew for being able to pull off such creative dishes! Service: Ahh-mazing. The staff was polite, attentive, and just absolutely the type of folks you’d want as a part of your dining experience! While I am no “foodie”, I know a bad-ass restaurant when I dine at one and Heihō House is pretty bad-ass!

On the trip to Oahu we went to Heiho which was a really great experience. I would not say That I loved all the dishes, but they were interesting and experience was amazing. You should take Pho, lamb, and branzino for sure. Their drinks are also very cool and very good. The way the dishes were served and level of service that we got deserves a 5 star.

Jason was our server and he was amazing! He gave great recommendations for drinks and explained every expect of each dish we ordered. (By the way, the drinks and food are very delicious and surprising). It’s not large portions, so if you are very hungry, I would go elsewhere. But it’s definitely enough to fill you up with a light meal. Jason also told us the story behind the restaurant, which was really interesting. Great music, too!
