We found this place by chance, when we googled top German food in cologne. Turns out Peters Brauhaus is an institution in Cologne and the go to for great German fare and ambiance! Really enjoy the schnitzel and fried Camembert! The beer is enjoyable, of course!

Peters Brauhaus is one of the best in Cologne. Come here for lunch or dinner. The menu is classic cologne food! Especially when you love a traditional interior, you are right at Peters Brauhaus. The interior is really very special.

Peters is a solid choice for a traditional brauhuas. My favorite Kolsch in Cologne. I had the speciality of 3 Pork medallions, comes served with croquettes and roasted vegetables. Medallions are small but very tasty overall a wonderful dish. Friends had the knuckle and wild boar, all proclaimed very good. The sides served with the pork knuckle are very tasty, nice slighly tart sauerkraut and fried potatoes with bacon. Great setting with beautiful stained glass window over the room. Always come here when we stop in Cologne. It's quite the tourist spot but overall a great experience, staff friendly and keep those Kolsch coming.

Visiting from the USA & the food is great the potato soup with smoked bacon was amazing. The place is very cozy the service was excellent if you’re looking for a good beer and food this is the place. Unfortunately I was not able to take a picture of my potato soup even though I had 2 bowls of it but here is a picture of my almost finished second bowl. Lol

This is yet another gorgeous building steeped with tradition and history. Today I had the Mettbrötchen (raw pork sandwich) and Kolsch Leberwurst (liver pâté sandwich). We washed it down with some Kolsch beer and Fassbrause (brewed fruit drink that tastes like lemon, lime, and bitters). An excellent lunch was had.

A fantastic traditional German restaurant/bar. Great staff and of course great food. We were a large group & we had a varied order from the menu. All was fantastic. My favourite was the Schweinehaxe(pork knuckle roasted to a crisp!!)I would highly recommend Peters Brauhaus

We loved eating at Peters while in Cologne. The kolsch was refreshing, the food delicious, and the service pleasantly spectacular (we had heard to expect very rude servers which was not the case). We highly recommend their sauerkraut soup and schnitzel. Don’t forget to put your coaster on top of your beer glass when you are ready to call it quits or a new beer will be on its way before you can blink

Really good place for some authentic German food. We joined a long line outside but it moved quickly, we were then held in the bar area until a table became free. Food was excellent, especially enjoyed the Broad beans dish. Service was quick with fresh beers arriving quickly. Definitely worth visiting if you want an authentic experience.

SO GOOD!!! This place is everything you think it is and more .. great Kölsch (so smooth!) and great and I mean GREAT food. We tried the Pork Knuckle which was amazing - as a German this was stunning to say the least! Also tried the steak tartar which was lovely. Definitely will come back again! Service is amazing and you feel like you’re at home.

Peter's Brauhaus in Köln offers an exceptional dining experience that I can't praise enough. Their steaks are simply outstanding, cooked to perfection, and bursting with flavor. The quality of their meat is top-notch, making each bite a delight. The fried lamb at Peter's Brauhaus is a true culinary masterpiece. The crispiness of the outer layer perfectly complements the tender and juicy lamb inside. It's a dish that tantalizes the taste buds and leaves you craving for more. But the real star of the show for me was the lamb steak. It's a testament to their skill in preparing meat dishes. The lamb steak was cooked to a precise medium-rare, ensuring it remained succulent and full of savory goodness. The accompanying sides and sauces complemented the dish brilliantly. The atmosphere at Peter's Brauhaus adds to the overall experience, with its cozy and welcoming ambiance. The staff is attentive and friendly, making you feel right at home. In conclusion, if you're a fan of steaks, fried lamb, or lamb steak, Peter's Brauhaus in Köln is a must-visit. Their culinary expertise and dedication to quality shine through in every dish, making it a dining destination that consistently delivers excellence.

A very comfortable truly German place. Delicious food and traditional Cologne Kelsh beer. I took a schnitzel, enough for two + served with a salad.

Peter's Brauhaus has great food and kolsch. It is located in the Alter Market area. German and English menus are available. The waitstaff was friendly and took our orders promptly. We ordered a round of the potato soup which tasted fantastic and was reasonably priced. We also had someone order the schnitzel with potatoes and they were very satisfied with their choice. If I had room from the potato soup, I would have considered ordering the schnitzel as well. The interior of the restaurant is well decorated and was festive for the holidays, especially important when a Christmas market is 50m away. Overall, we enjoyed our experience here and would definitely recommend it and come back again.

Excellent brewery with a fine selection of traditional German meat dishes. The portions are extremely large and reasonably priced. The staff is quick, polite, and has a great sense of humour, even!

Nice historical brewery of Cologne. There was a line in around 9 pm but it moved fast and we got a table withing five minutes of wait. Food was good especially the goulash. We liked the Kolsch beer and they keep on serving more beer if your glass is empty until you say no. Service was decent but the server sensing we were non German tourists asked for tips which was first for us in Germany. We obliged to add a tip which was alright with us but something to note for others non native tourists who are not used to any tipping culture.

I picked this restaurant based on reviews and the fact that they serve German food. The food was ok, not brilliant and a little too salty, but ok. The beer is served in small 200 ml glasses (I noticed is a local thing) and it goes down fast, so it's kind of annoying to keep waiting for a refill. I'm used to big 0.5l pint in my country. The prices were high for us (75 Eur, 2 pers) and our server was efficient and a little cold (he spoke german up until the bill). You should try it once just to experience the atmosphere.

This is a good place if you want to feel the atmosphere of a typical restaurant of Cologne. The food is very good, the service is also good (they dont speak english at all). Is in the city centre so local people and tourist are mixed.

Delicious place. The atmosphere was perfect, service was top notch, and the food was delicious. We had the schnitzel with potatoes, cheese and bread, kids noodles and marinara, and potato soup with bacon. The Peters Kolsch was a delicious light beer.

Some of the staff around us was friendly, but our server was very abrupt, short and not friendly. It took a while before I could get his attention to order, ask for the bill etc... The food was just okay. It came fast so you know it's not fresh and the pasta was overcooked. Side salads are good.

On a busy night, we still got a shared table without a booking. The food was great, as was the Kölsch. The atmosphere is just like those of other breweries with restaurants. It's also well located for visiting the Heinzelmännchen Christmas market.

Another great place for local house brewed beer! Food is good here as well and their beer is a MUST try as well. Beautiful interior of a classic German bar and restaurant will make you feel like eating and drinking in a German home. Wonder why customers need to pay to use their toilet in this restaurant.

Horrible and terrible service. I couldn’t understand why they asked me to show them my passport instead of covid test results or vaccination certificate. Actually it’s understandable if it is an official public rule to check the guest’s information. The thing is that the waiter was so rude when he asked me to show the passport without any clear explanation. It is not good way to treat the customers. It seems that they discriminated me because I’m east asian (S. Korean). They might not accepted me if I’m not a residence in Europe. This restaurant spoiled the image of Germany. The food and beer was so so. 한국 여러분들 여기 가지마세요. 인종차별 심한 곳입니다.

I am not surprised this place is so highly recommended to visit in Cologne! The building and interiors are beautiful and will make you feel very cozy. The prices are also very fair. During our visit the place was very busy and full of Germans and even though out waiter didn’t speak English (nor did they have English menu) he was really friendly and recommended some meals to us. The beer they serve is my personal favourite in Cologne as well!

A meal here feels like an authentic German experience. The building is beautiful, food is traditional, and the beer just keeps flowing. Had to wait a little while for a table, but you can tell that the servers are trying their best to seat and feed everyone as quickly as possible. I highly recommend trying their sauerkraut soup!

Fun place to have an approach to German food. The place seems like it’s always full, mostly tourists… but that doesn’t mean it’s bad. They don’t stop filling the glass of beer (about 3€ each) even if you’re not asking for it, so beware before they up charge you. Other than that, the food was nice a classic schnitzel can never be bad.

The place you want to go to feel some German atmosphere. Great variety of food in a typical German brewery made of wood and nice decorations. It is definitely worth a try at least once. You won't regret it. You can reserve your table either online or just by showing up (at weekends it may be difficult to find a table for 2 immediately) but if you wait and get a beer at the entrance you may find one in short. Enjoy!

Went there with some friends. Service was good, food was horrible. Undercooked, half raw and very thick "schnitzel" and totally overcooked pasta. They might have other dishes that are actually good, but ours were not. Somewhat suprising, given that you usually have to wait in line to get a table.

It is my strong belief that you can perceive the tradition of a place from the balance they keep between establishing their prices and respecting the customers. Peters Brauhaus simply exceeded any expectation in that: the place had a unique style, the waiters were professional and helpful and the food was the best I had in my brief stay in Kohln. And all at the popular price you expect from from a brewery that has become part of the city's history.

The place was charming, waiters were attentives, food and beers were great. Everything perfect. P.S. not a big fan of those potatos balls.

Went in around 3.45pm for late lunch. 1 of the tall looking young staff walked us to a small table.. I asked if I m allowed to place my bags on the chair beside our dining table and also if merge the 2 table tgt (because we are sitting on single small table). Because of the 1.5m distance sitting we pull the table beside us. And restaurant were not even 10% full. However 10min later another old looking fat waiter walk pass came to ask me to put my handbag on the floor and split my table beside.. WTH is covid my crossbag on the oily dusty floor?? Food generally is nice. Cost is a bit more expensive than other places and place is a bit dim too. anyway... Due to the service attitude I got from the fat old waiter I think this ambience were ruined so can only gave a 2 stars. I have lots of cash in my handbag that day, what if ppl pick n leave? Are they restaurant going to be compensate me? That tall younger waiter was ok n looked guilty cos he allowed us when we asked if we can pull the other table to make it more spare space for our foods n dessert. The table is extremely small for us. But we are tourist from SG perhaps the far old waiter dislike Asian?? I think the old man also lecture the taller waiter.. It's like no body eating. The place is damn full of empty seat? And the small table beside us is only 30cm away...

Perfect spot just a couple or streets off the Cathedral. Well worth the journey towards the old Town for lunch. Service was prompt and attentive and English menus are available as well as English speaking waitstaff. The meal was incredibly tasty and well priced. The Kolsch beer is quite nice and unique too!

Worthwhile stop. Food was fantastic, all the plates other tables were having looked fantastic too. House ale was a nice brew. Service was fast, helpful, and cheerful. Went for lunch, but I’m sure the atmosphere at night is great.

Great spot to have unique Kölsch beer :-) love the small glasses and smooth light beer ;-) you will find yourself losing count of number glasses u had lol we had amazing pork dishes and the highlight was the Schweinshaxe (Crispy German Pork Knuckle) !!!! Also the goulash soup was a treat .. a hardy and comfort meal for a gloomy cold evening lol Definitely be back !!

The first time I was there the food was great, especially Sauerkraut. And the beer also. But the second time weal was not good. Sausage was kinda dry. And the tables outside are very dirty and old.

So far, the best food I've tried in a brauhaus. Really good service and the place is really nice as well! Update: went again and the food was even better! 😅

My first time eating Schweinhaxe was in this place. The staff was really friendly and explained the history of the food to us. They offered 2 style and I went with the crispy one. One guest saw my excitement and he offered me to try the other style since he ordered it. People are great here.

I was told to visit this brauhaus on recommendation from a family member who had been various times before...and I wasn't to be disappointed! I decided to have the meatloaf from the lunch menú (€9.80) which came with gravy, red cabbage with apple and boiled potatoes. It was perfect...the generous gravy coated slices of pork meatloaf were full of flavour (I could of eaten another slice!), the red cabbage was perfectly cooked, not too sweet and not too sharp. The boiled potatoes not too hard and had a lovely creamy texture and flavour to them...and the gravy completed the dish, it worked very well with all the components of the dish. Spot on! So, if you enjoy a Kölsch and German pub grub, then definitely check this place out! The waiter was very friendly and engaged in conversation with us more than once, while also providing quality customer service! It has a lovely beerhouse interior, too. Easy 5 stars.

Truly tasty! Would recommend if you’re after great German food. We came here on the off-chance after Googling best German restaurants and it did not disappoint. Drinks are very small though so you’ll want a few of them!

Must visit in cologne, beer is superb, they serve 200 ml glasses only, every time they replace once it’s done, the beer is always chilled and on optimum temperature, food is great, they have traditional German food.

Typical beer hall with the usual local food. Expect large groups and lively atmosphere. Service is friendly and quick. Enjoyed my lunch of „Brodwoosch“.

Outstanding grilled pork knuckle with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. Celebrated with several Flimm Waldmeister likör mit vodka shots. Menu has a variety of choices, professional service, noticeable hospitality and tasty food. It made our day when visiting Këln

This was our first stop at a German restaurant and it was a great experience. We ordered the pork knuckle and one of their other pork speciality dish and both were amazing. We are normally not beer drinkers but their local Kolsch beer was fantastic and refreshing. Service was excellent and they accommodated our English and servers were friendly. Would recommend.

Absolutely amazing food. Schnitzel, beef, fried sausage all amazing. Try the Kolsch beer. They come in 2cl glasses for €2.20 ea. Just make sure that when you are done drinking you put the beer mat on top to stop them from bringing MORE(see pic)😁😀

that feeling when you just enter a restaurant tired, and the waiter immediately asks you, «bring you a beer???» !! priceless! ;))) My recommendation to try Pork knuckle with savoy cabbage and fried bacon-potatoes - really great! (And Kölsh of course)

Angry waiter was very impatient with taking orders, let us wait on purpose, took the order wrongly and insisted it was our fault, shame on this type of service ! Arrogant and incompetent ! The place is nice, food is good, price is on the costly side for what we order, but it was ok. Will not recommend nor come back .
