Because of a operation of my wife we looked for a nice hotel to relax before and after the operation. We search for a double room so after the operation my wife could sleep during the day and i could work in the other room. And we looked for a bathroom with a seperate shower because she is in a weelchair and can not climb in a bathtub. We made a reservation for 4 days for the executive room because on the site they say it is a double room and the pictures show a seperate shower. I think it is the most expensive room in the hotel but my wife needed to relax, so we choose this one. When we came on sunday the gave us a room that was not a double room and no seperate shower. I made a complain and they gave us quickly another room, the one we saw on their site. Unfortunately after a few minutes they told us we could only stay their for 2 days and had to go back to the first room because someone else needed the room for a meeting. We told them that the other room was no option because of my wife's weelchair and they said that they would discuss this monday with the manager. On monday their was still no solution and even though they saw my wife in the weelchair and we told them that we ordered a double room, we were the ones who had to leave the room. There was no compassion!! Never once they said we will change the other booking, for example to another meeting room. Because of the upcoming operation we had no option to pack our bags again, leave this hotel and find another one. The whole idea to start the operation relax was gone. We lost a day of relaxation. If you book a room in this hotel, make sure you get the room they advertise with. When we left they gave us a discount for the night we stayed. We rather paid more and relaxed then have a stressfull day/night. Now we just paid for stress!! Never again this hotel for us.

Great hotel with really good facilities. Rooms have coffee machine, kettle, safe, plenty of power sockets. Breakfast is great with ideal selection. Staff are top rate in terms of service and conference facilities are to be recommended. Fitness centre is also top tier for a hotel. Would certainly stay again.

I was on a business trip to this Hotel and I must say that this hotel is really good and fantastic. Right from the reception to the room, everything was amazing. The beds were clean and neatly arranged, washroom was clean and I had a good view. Just make sure that you put the DO NOT DISTURB banner stuck to the handle of the room door if you do not want the room service attendants to disturb you. If you do not answer their knocks on the door, they would just open the door, so make sure you put the DO NOT DISTURB banner outside. Also a recommendation to the hotel staff: the aircon in my room was a not really working well. It took a really long time for the room to cool down and the temperature was stuck between 18-20°C.

Checkin at 15:00h only! Normal? I don't think so.. Service staff were cold and careless, TV's are old (not smart tv, and when I asked to connect my HDMI to watch my PRIME tv instead of the german speaking channels, they refused to do it "its not possible", so I've spent a week in germany with the TV off! Air Conditioning was too cold (even at the minimum), and if you turn it off, the room became too hot, beds had only winter blankets, cushons were too soft, you need to put 4 together to reach a normal size, never slept so bad in a hotel. No restaurant in the hotel, only a bar. It's surely my last time there.

First time staying at a Steigenberger hotel and it was absolutely lovely. What I liked: spacious room with amazing views from the 8th floor, nice location with everything nearby, decent hotel gym, fantastic breakfast, friendly service. Things to improve: the hotel room cleaning service and supplying enough room amenities.

Nice room and front desk staff was very good. Only reason for not 5 stars is three things.. gym was mediocre and very cold.. would be great to have an affiliation with a actual gym, the toilet paper dispenser is bad design and ran out of toilet paper 🧻, and third the hand soap dispenser is awkward to use. Otherwise great room and breakfast available.

The hotel is large with a lot of room and space, pretty beautiful and located closely to everything. My room was clean and large, there was a kettle with tea and coffee, also I personally liked a clean bath. A breakfast was fairly well staffed, especially if you follow a balanced meal approach. I could find all what I usually eat. The staff was friendly and WiFi was stable.

This was a very good hotel. We felt very welcome and so did our pooch who was provided with a little dog bed and bowl for his own stay. The rooms were clean, staff was friendly and the hotel is in a great location. Also, the breakfast buffet was delicious, with a good variety of food. The only small issue I had was they ran out of coffee pods for the coffee machines located in the room...and I can't function without the stuff! Overall we loved the place and will stay again if we come back to the area!

After spending a few days at this hotel, I have nothing but praise for all aspects. The desk staff is very helpful. We made several inquiries about various things and they were always very gave us good information. The lobby is really nice and immediately shows the class of the hotel. Our room on the 9th floor was large and very clean. It offered a great view over the city including the cathedral which is about 1.5 km away. The hotel's breakfast buffet itself is amazing. They offer just about anything one could possibly desire. The restaurant staff is very efficient and helpful as well. If you don't want your room cleaned you definitely need to put out the door sign as the cleaners are quick on the job. The hotel is nicely situated near many restaurants, and lots of shopping including a couple of Christmas markets while we were there. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

My experience with this hotel was not a very good one, but I will try to be as objective as possible. Pros: - Clean - Good hair drier (not the typical one that is stuck to the wall and barely blows any air, but a real, strong one). I recognize this may only matter to women. Cons: - Extremely cold. I understand there is a government suggestion to save energy, but when there are 6 degrees outside and I pay a 300 €/night fare, I expect to have some heating in my room….I didn’t. - No slippers or bathrobes. You would think that since there was no heating and the rooms have no carpets, we would have some robes and slippers, right? Wrong! I asked for slippers at reception, and they gave me 2 left ones. A colleague I was with received 2 right ones and we exchanged. - If you wanted the room cleaned, you had to expressly put a sticker on your door handle, otherwise the cleaning lady won’t even enter to remove the trash. I understand not changing the towels every day, but again, for a 4* hotel and this type of fare, if you forget to put that sticker, you won’t have your room made up. - At check-in I was asked for a credit card and charged 50€ as some form of security deposit. I was informed that this amount would be refunded at check-out. It wasn’t (and I had no additional expenses). I contacted the hotel, but they haven’t replied to me. Is this hotel running a credit scheme with their clients?

The hotel is lovely. Very clean, staff are really friendly, it's quiet and perfect location to walk through Köln or get the tram. Drinks at the bar are very expensive though which I wasn't expecting.

I wish I could give this hotel a better review, but when it comes down to it, comfort is a priority while in a hotel. The rooms are average and the service is excellent. The hotel is beginning to show its age and not what I would consider a 4star hotel. The hotel had a snack bar that was self checkout which operated 24 hours, which was nice. However, when the temperature outside is 34c and the coolest the room can get is 30 to 31 degrees, there is a problem. Literally was a sauna! A hot box that you would lay on the bed and sweat profusely. They moved me to a different room and it was the exact same. There are similar comments on AC and heating issues, but I ignored them. I wish I hadn't. €650 for three nights and never was able to rest. Absolutely horrible experience.

They don't offer room service and for some reason they won't remove it from their list of services. There's no restaurant in the hotel either. There's no late night bar either. The Aircon is stuck between 18-22°c. In some rooms it doesn't work at all. Staff on the desk are lovely but it all comes down to poor management. It looks like Covid really impacted this hotels quality and now they are cutting corners.

Extremely accommodating and kind staff, the hotel itself is centrally located and very easy to find. Within walking distance you have plenty of amenities and restaurants. I especially enjoyed the cafes nearby for breakfast. The rooms were clean and large with ours having views of the city that were excellent.

Very good hotel in the heart of the city! Rooms are spacious and very comfy. The bed is very good as the hot shower, with good water pressure. The service and staff are also very good and everything was clean. We only had one problem: window rollers were not working.

I know what hotel policy means and I completely understand any decision a hotel may take according thereto. However, I just want to explain my case for the record. My wife and I had booked a room in this hotel for the weekend (one night), through Booking. Unfortunately, I got really sick two days before our trip. Our reservation was a non-refundable one. However, Booking states that if you decide to cancel, you can ask the hotel whether they would accept to cancel it free of charge. In other words, the hotels have the last word. I called and explained my situation and even offered to send them medical certificates as proof of my sickness. The lady on the phone kindly asked the Reservations manager about my case and he decided to say no. As I said, I accept their decision, but I also feel profoundly saddened by this behavior and lack of any understanding. In Cologne, in these days, they will easily find someone else to book the room and keep on earning money. But they decided to keep also ours. We would have loved to stay at this hotel in a future trip to Cologne, but we will definitely not do so. And I am sure it is a wonderful place, but sometimes the human side of things is what counts.

Air conditioning doesn’t work and I don’t think they understand how poor their internet infrastructure is. Their “fast” internet runs at below 2mbs and you can’t load emails. After approaching them with this problem, they shrugged it off as if they were confident nothing was wrong with it. If you need internet while in your room, do not stay here. You’ll be forced to work in the lobby where it works only slightly better.

The room is fine until you want to get some sleep. You can hear everything from the street, cars, trams, drunk people singing and shouting. Once a while some other guests are coming back talking and laughing, and door slapping. You hear everything! If you are not sensitive to noise, it's a decent hotel with a convenient location. But If you are a light sleeper, it's not a good choice.

During the covid the hotel don't give us back our money! So we paid for them and didn't get the service because of a worldwide epidemic. A place that respect itself doesn't act like this!

I have stayed there early May 2023. Good experience with the room & location. However the 50€ deposit given at the arrival was never reimbursed back, despite several calls in the months after. No follow-up despite promises to call me back, and still no reimbursement today. Shame.

I'm not one to write a lot of reviews, but I wanted to give a special thanks to Abudi & Sabrina for their excellent customer service! They went above and beyond in helping me find a beer (Nolte bockbier, amazing) I had at Locura Empanaderia (go there for excellent empanadas, btw). I was completely shocked by their level of service. The pandemic has taken a toll on industries like the hospitality business and customer service has been hard hit. These guys were amazing and I felt like they actually cared to help me, which has become something that is hard to find these days. :) Thank you to you both for the amazing level of service! This is what keeps people coming back. The bed was comfy and accommodations were clean and up to date in my room. Nespresso in the room is a nice perk as well as solid coffee machine downstairs next to bar. Minus 1 star due to lack of soundproofing (I could here sirens, people yelling outside in the city surrounding from 4th floor).

The Steinberger is located in a very central location in Cologne and is easily accessible by public transportation. There is an underground parking garage right next to the hotel. The hotel has multiple event spaces and a restaurant on the first floor. All rooms are easily accessible by elevator. Room 617 on the sixth floor has a double bed. The bed needs to be replaced as it sinks down when lying on it. The room includes a television, desk, seating area, wardrobe, safe, iron with ironing board, refrigerator, and coffee maker. The bathroom has a shower, but the shower hose is broken and needs to be replaced. It is very noisy outside on Rudolfplatz on the weekends, to the extent that the noise enters the room since the windows and walls are thin. I was only able to check into the room at 3 pm due to a long line with wait times of up to 10 minutes, as everyone else had to check in at the same time. We had an event in this hotel and all hotel expenses were already covered, yet I still had to sign a bill with my name without explanation. It was very discriminating. The lunch and breakfast were okay. Unfortunately, when exiting the elevator, the floor number is not displayed. The toilets on the first floor had a very strong urine smell, which was very unpleasant. I hope that the management will change something here.

Nice hotel in Cologne that is well located within the city center. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The breakfast is very diverse and you can definitely find whatever you want for the meal plus you can take a drink to go. The hotel also has a small convenience store in the main lobby, where you can buy stuff 24/7. Hotel staff is nice and responsive

Clean modern room with good facilities for a traveller. Shower was good and bed was comfortable. There was plenty of choice at breakfast and was very good. We would have no problem in returning to this hotel if in Cologne again.

Worst hotel experience ever. In the middle of the night another person stepped into my room cause they reserved the same room twice. I was shocked and screamed and the guy who was trying to enter into the room was very shamed and sorry. You won’t experience this even in a 1 star hotel. During 4 days stay, my room card was cancelled every single day. In addition to that they had blockage in my card 3 times for 1 week. The explanation was “we are really sorry”.. I would never stay there.

We stayed at Steigenberger for 8 nights, and it was one of the best vacations I ever had!! We ordered the hotel at Booking (not so cheap but eventually worth it), asked for a room with a nice view at a high floor and also mentioned that we are celebrating an anniversary... we got to the hotel and saw the incredible surprise they made for us - balloons and flowers. It was heart warming. The hotel staff is very nice. Including everyone: the staff at the front desk (especially Riccardo! You’re the best!), the waitresses and chefs at the breakfast and of course the housekeeper. They all helped us when we needed and took care of all of us requests, whether if we wanted an omelet with cheese or if we needed help to get to Phantasialand or needed two little face towels. About the breakfast: great. Amazing. Worth every cent. Everyday it was a thrill to go down to Sand’s, the hotel restaurant and eat their delicious breakfast. No words are needed. It is definitely a hotel you need to check when you visit Köln and you won’t regret!

This was a mixed review. There were a few issues with the room like the aircon not working and no tea or milk in the room. However, the staff were excellent. They quickly fixed the broken air con, this was good because it was 28 degrees in the summer, but good with the air con. 24 hour gym is good. The hotel is also on a major transport hub for trains and trams which is super convenient. The staff were a real highlight though. Kristen E. Was excellent and all staff were very friendly and helped us with dinner places and tips for exploring the city. There was also a gentleman whom found me alternative pillows as well. Again the service was excellent and I would definitely return to stay again.

The location is very central and easy to find except for the parking. I really loved the fact that the employees are so friendly and passionate about their work. There was nothing they couldn't help with. They have a very nice bar and you can hop to any other place in a couple of minutes. Didn't try breakfast or spa as we had limited time due to work. The hotel room was clean and spacious. The price was was better than I expected from a hotel in the city center. Parking costs 22,00€per day. A bit expensive but understood that it is not a hotel parking. Will recommend this any day to anyone who loves great service, wants to enjoy the city and sleep in a bed as comfy as home.

Amazing hotel, in a great location. It was so easy to get around with trams right outside the hotel at the Rudolfplatz. The location couldn't be any better, especially if you're only over for a few nights. The staff in the hotel were great and attentive. The guys working in the bar, especially the Irish guy were really nice too! Overall, the hotel itself is 5 star (in terms of review) but the thing that really let it down for me was the breakfast. Did not opt for breakfast every morning so we only went for it on our last day. It wasn't the great in my opinion. There was barely any fruit, not many baked goods beside breads- like there was no muffins or anything. There was only bananas in the fruit which looked quite dark. I tried the warm food and the potatoes were awful. They were so oily and freezing when you got to eat them too. A couple of things weren't marked very well so it was hard to tell what was what. It did have a good option for cereal and the drinks were really good. Even had the option to juice your own juice. There was champagne available for breakfast too. However, as a Muslim I would not drink it and I felt that the price of €25 each for breakfast was not worth it considering what you got. I hated my breakfast while my partner thought it was okay, but we still agreed it wasn't worth the money. It was surprising because the hotel is so nice you'd expect the breakfast to have the same standard! The place for the breakfast was also a little bit dirty, they only started cleaning tables nearby us after we sat down for our breakfast. Still stand by my review, that the hotel itself and it's staff was attentive and amazing, the breakfast is the only thing letting it down.

Perfect experience! Nice and modern rooms, clean, good service in the reception and general. The location is much better then the old city, it’s a place that people live in and there are plenty of places to eat and to shop. Have been in 3 hotels in cologne- that one is definitely number one.

It can be a bit loud at night but overall you can't ask for a better location. We ate at a great Argentinian steakhouse nearby, the Chocolate factory, saw the Cologne Cathedral and so much more. Rooms were beautiful and spacious, staff was great. Wonderful experience!

One of worst hotels that I have ever been. Bathroom does not have air conditioning so the steam can go out… not in the room. No parking spaces - there is below the hotel with some rental company and you actually have to pay at least 25-30€ per day or 10-12 hours. Pillows are terrible. The room is dirty. No any room service and restaurant… no any mini bar but there is a fridge who is like a night lamp… and many others :))

Much better than expected. Rooms were well kept and clean, the service was good too. The 3-Pax room that our children had was the biggest I have seen in Europe so far, very spacious and comfortable. Location was also convenient and easy access to public transport. Walkable distance to the DOM and major attractions too. Car park was also within the hotel.
