We
know
Premier
Inn
from
the
UK
and
decided
to
try
it
for
our
3
nights
in
Cologne.
It
was
incredibly
cheap
-
€247
for
all
3
nights
(1st-4th
July
23)
-
so
really
we
had
no
reason
not
to.
It
is
a
bit
of
a
walk
from
the
Hauptbahnhof
(main
station),
about
20
minutes,
but
this
is
absolutely
fine.
The
rooms
are
well
soundproofed
so
despite
the
busy
roads
nearby
it
was
very
peaceful.
We
had
room
1101
(there
are
17
floors).
The
rooms
aren't
that
big
but
are
absolutely
not
too
small
by
any
stretch.
The
bathroom
is
pretty
roomy
and
the
shower
is
excellent.
From
our
room
we
had
a
view
over
the
city
and,
if
you
stood
on
one
leg
and
squinted,
the
cathedral
was
just
visible
on
the
far
right.
Actually
the
best
part
of
the
view
was
of
the
old
water
tower
which
is
now
a
hotel.
Bed
very
comfy,
lighting
great
(although
the
weird
purple
light
effect
is
not
one
we
put
to
use
much,
it's
cute
though
😂),
TV
is
pretty
standard.
Plug
sockets
by
the
bed
have
USB
sockets
as
well
as
normal
ones.
There
is
a
kettle
in
the
room
and
there
were
a
few
teabags
and
sachets
of
coffee.
We
ran
out
of
teabags
and
thought
we'd
get
some
from
breakfast
the
next
day,
only
to
find
that
the
tea
in
the
breakfast
area
is
leaf
tea.
😆
We
asked
at
reception
and
they
got
us
some
teabags.
As
mentioned,
we
had
breakfast.
Only
for
2
out
of
3
nights,
as
we
had
to
leave
around
7am
on
checkout
day.
It's
not
cheap
at
€15.50
each
per
day.
The
hot
food
selection
was
scrambled
eggs,
crispy
bacon,
Nürnberger
sausages
(which
are
a
herby
pork
sausage,
perfect
for
breakfast)
and,
oddly,
baked
beans.
Personally
I
never
found
the
food
from
that
section
particularly
hot.
There
are
plenty
of
other
things
to
eat
and
a
whole
section
of
gluten-free
bread.
Of
course
it
is
a
German
buffet
breakfast
so
there
is
a
focus
on
lots
of
varieties
of
bread
and
lots
of
cold
meats
&
cheeses,
which
I
absolutely
love,
so
I
was
in
my
element.
We
used
the
bar
one
night
and
found
it
pretty
affordable.
We
just
had
2
wheat
beers,
each
out
of
a
500ml
bottle,
and
the
total
was
€11,
which
I
thought
cheap
for
a
hotel.
I've
seen
a
few
reviews
critical
of
the
air
conditioning.
Just
wanted
to
say
we
had
no
problem
with
it
in
our
room,
however
we
weren't
there
during
a
heatwave
and
the
external
temperature
was
a
max
of
24⁰C
so
maybe
that
helped.
The
air
conditioner
worked
perfectly
for
us.
There
is
no
evening
food
service,
which
we
could
have
really
done
with
one
night,
but
there
are
Japanese
&
Thai
restaurants
not
far
away.
We
can
recommend
Ga
Mie
which
is
maybe
10
minutes
away
on
foot,
and
which
is
an
Asian
Fusion
restaurant
-
it
was
very
well
priced,
the
food
abundant
and
beautifully
presented.
We
were
in
Cologne
mainly
to
attend
a
concert
at
the
Lanxess
Arena
-
we
walked
there
and
got
the
tram/S-bahn
back
and
were
impressed
at
how
easy
it
was.
We
got
off
at
Severinstraße
and
then
the
exit
for
Tel-Aviv-Str
is
signposted
and
it's
about
a
5-10
minute
walk
from
the
stop
back
to
the
hotel.
All
in
all,
a
really
good
hotel
and
one
I
would
recommend.
We
wouldn't
hesitate
to
stay
again.
