It was worth the drive. You can even explore down when the tides are low. Just be very careful. Just overall an amazing and relaxing area.

Often overlooked and forgotten beach area, a must see especially during low tide. Mermaid Caves are to the left of the beach, and during low tide you can hop down in the openings. The beach itself is very small but not over packed like North Shore. Warning the bathrooms are gross, and it takes some jiggling of the handle to flush.

Only worthwhile going for the nearby mermaid caves. Just use upper body strength to get in and out of the caves

Mermaid Caves were on the rocks just south of the sandy beaches. Careful when jumping in at the caves, as you can get washed out to the ocean if not experienced... Bring small stepladder, ad you see in one of my videos, if you don't have good upper body strength.

Nice beach, be aware of long thorns in the grassy areas. The water was pretty calm when I went. Not really any waves so kid friendly. Not sure if it's different during different seasons though. Gets deep fast you don't have to go very far out for it to be over your head.

It’s worth the drive!! Sand is soft and mermaid caves are near by. Has restrooms and place to change. Lots of locals picnic out here. Kids had lots of fun.

This was an amazing experience. This place is also known as .. .Mermaid Cove by the locals. Not too many people know of this place but check it out, its definitely a must see. There is a (hole) in the rock that you can get inside of and see the interior of this beautiful cove. Its simply amazing, look it up on YouTube.

If you're looking for the mermaid caves....this is the beach. FYI, check the tide cycle because you can only reach the caves in low tide. The beach is beautiful, but the waves are strong, so beware (there is a lifeguard)!!

Such a beautiful and relatively secluded beach (at least when I visited). The beach was clean, the waves were great for swimming, snorkeling, and surfing. The Mermaid Coves are an absolutely amazing rock formation.

Decent beach on the west side. There are a lot of locals and a fairly obvious criminal element. There is trash and the bathrooms aren't very clean. But it isn't over crowded and there are some cool caves (Mermaid Caves) on the south side. The parking is free but I wouldn't leave valuables in the car. Be careful of the surf here! If you get washed into the lava rocks you will end up in the hospital FOR SURE! There is kind of a crazy current near the place the river/runoff dumps into the beach. If I had kids I would go a bit farther north where it is a little safer.

Favorite bench to eat poke at. They're a couple cats rhat come up always asking for food so there's that if you're into it. The beach is right there and the tunnels aren't that far either.

Great beach for sunbathing and relaxation. It is a very sandy beach so you do not have to worry about rocks in the water. In the area you will find a public bathroom, outdoors shower, and plenty of parking. There is also a play ground for kids, baseball and basketball park. Great time to have a picnic and get together. I hope you enjoy your experience as much as I did.

We had a celebration of life, and scattering of ashes. We had a beautiful spot! And a nice breeze. All the family and friends had a wonderful time. And the water felt soooo great.

This beach is a good beach for family and friends gathering especially when camping or watching a canoe tournament. But the downfall is be cautious when there is high tides. Read "All Signs" before you enter the ocean water here.

Amazing beach, bathroom is dirty look in the inside, on the rocky side was a lot of cross looks like people die around the area?? Scary!! High tide when we were there, not so safe here during high tide for kids, please look out for your little ones around here, a lot sigh says no swimming or surfing but saw people swimming here makes me scared, signs been there for a reason, other than that it a good beach, a lot of home less people around this area to.

Such a beautiful little area. I feel like many tourist don’t come out here and they should. Just because as the current are pretty bad in the coves/on the shore.

😐 Beautiful, well maintained place. Public parking is a bit complicated and well designed scam. Total waste of time waiting to find public free parking. 👍👍 The Sand is nice beautiful but gets very hot. There are some houseless folks over here but never a problem. It is a Small park and limited parking but nice. 👍👍 Great surprise! Nice place to walk along the coastline and enjoy the fresh air. Picnic tables. Grassy fields. Respect the locals who live along the coast there.
