Unless you are an absolute aviation nut, skip this place. There are some very nice displays but only about five of them. Most of the aircraft on display are not even suitable for AMARG. The main hanger is very small and the secondary hanger is a big empty space with a bunch of junk piled into it. There is an old B-17 in the secondary hanger but it has no restoration done to it. If you're interested in the junk, you can't even look at it. You can only view it from afar. I got the military rate and my family was charged $20 a ticket. We were done with this place within one hour. The two most interesting things were the Mitsubishi Zero that has been restored and the bullet holes in the glass building windows. Not recommended. Oh, and there's an entire building to devoted to Bob Hope...really?

A great museum and tribute to those who flew during WWII. If you're doing the whole Pearl Harbor experience I would highly recommend. Aviation enthusiasts and war buffs will like it too. The people working there and giving talks were exceptional. The only reason it only gets four stars from me is because it seemed a little light on exhibits, especially when compared to some museums in the mainland US. Don't get me wrong, its a great museum with plenty to see, but since I've been to many aviation museums I guess I was just a little disappointed. Definitely worth a visit though!

Very cool but not as… much as we thought. Very neat to be able to see though. Hanger 79 was disappointing in its emptiness but the bullet holes in the glass… wow. The cafe in the museum is pet cute and the fries were amazing. They were the best priced food we had the entire trip. lol

Title: A Remarkable Tribute with Unforgettable Stories Review: I recently had the privilege of visiting the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum, and I was absolutely blown away by the experience. This museum stands as a remarkable tribute to the heroes and events of that fateful day in history, and being able to witness the remnants of the attack firsthand made it all the more unforgettable. One of the most captivating aspects of this museum is the preserved glass in the hangar, which still bears the bullet holes from the attack on Pearl Harbor. It's a chilling reminder of the bravery and sacrifice displayed by the servicemen and women who fought during that infamous attack. Seeing these bullet holes serves as a tangible connection to the past and brings a deeper appreciation for the historical significance of the site. Apart from the bullet hole-dotted glass, the museum offers a wealth of other exhibits that are equally awe-inspiring. From the restored aircraft to the informative displays, each element contributes to a comprehensive understanding of the aviation history of the area. The knowledgeable and passionate staff are readily available to answer any questions and share more stories, making the visit even more enriching. The Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum not only educates visitors about the attack itself but also shares personal stories of the individuals who were directly impacted. These stories, combined with the expertly curated exhibits, paint a vivid picture of the bravery, resilience, and sacrifice exhibited by the men and women who served during World War II. The museum's dedication to preserving and honoring history is evident throughout every corner. The attention to detail and the meticulous restoration work on the aircraft and artifacts truly showcases the dedication that has gone into creating this remarkable museum experience. With its stunning artifacts, poignant exhibits, and the extraordinary glass with bullet holes in the hangar, the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum is a must-visit for history enthusiasts and anyone seeking a deeper understanding of the events that occurred on that day. It's an emotional and educational journey that will leave a lasting impact. In conclusion, I cannot recommend the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum enough. Its respectful commemoration of the past, combined with the remarkable sight of bullet holes in the glass, creates an experience that is both humbling and thought-provoking. It is a testament to the bravery of those who served and a reminder of the importance of never forgetting our history.

Super cool museum. Loved learning about the Japanese aircraft and how they planned their invasion. They also have a legitimate Japanese Zero aircraft here to take a look at. Very cool to see up close. This stop was also the first time I’ve ever seen an F14 Tomcat in the flesh. Awesome to see especially after seeing the new Top Gun.

This is a nice aviation museum. We learned quite a bit about the individual exhibits from the docents that introduced them self as we worked our way around. The first hanger is dedicated to WWII era planes. Hanger 79 is mostly empty right now because of roof repairs required to fix recent storm damage. The planes that should be in hanger 79 are correctly outside on a tarmac.

The aviation museum is actually on Ford Island and requires taking a shuttle bus from the main Pearl Harbor visitor area. Unlike the main memorial entrance area, there is a fee to enter the aviation museum. That said, if you're interested in the aircraft and history, it is worth paying for. They have aircraft that span many different years, not just from the World War 2 era. If you walk through it quickly it doesn't take very long to see everything, but you could certainly take your time reading all the information and taking it all in. Within the aviation museum they also have combat flight simulators you can use for another additional charge. It's a fun experience if you're into that sort of thing, but it's not for everyone.

This is easily the best of the Pearl Harbour attractions. There is a shuttle bus that picks you up from the main area and takes you to the hangars where there are dozens of military (and some civilian) aircraft complete with placards telling their story. You don't have to be a plane enthusiast to be awed by the planes on show here as they are large, colourful and shiny - but it helps. There are also original windows from Pearl Harbour, complete with bullet holes and there's a section dedicated to comedian Bob Hope which was both interesting and funny. Highlights include a bomber rescued from the jungles of Malaysia after 50 years, a zero, several helicopters, a F-111 and a Falcon Disabled access is very good as you can park at Pearl Harbour and the hangars and exhibits are in wide flat spaces. The only consideration for disabled visitors is that the coach that takes you to the site has narrow, steep stairs. You may be able to arrange alternative transport if you book ahead of time.

We really like this museum, and ended up buying annual passes. It’s never crowed. The main exhibit hall is well thought out and informative with a decent cafe. My kids LOVE the simulator (extra cost-but justifiable with the passes) The hangar has old/new/ big and little planes from every era. The tent in between has rotating exhibits, all of which we’ve loved. It’s not huge, an hour is probably good. Recommend this off the beaten path part of the national park.

Had a blast! My boyfriend and I tried out the 360 flight simulator in the Aviation Museum and got the high score that day! Bought cute stuff at the gift shop and loved supporting the museum! Definitely coming again with my family and friends! PS: Was surprised to find the F-14 Tomcat there, but LOVED IT 😍

As an aviation geek, I truly appreciate this museum, so many fighter planes on display that so close, you can touch then and Amir their size and power. Many WWII aircraft are well preserved and a Bob Hope memorial also there to remember this great actor who visit our servicemen and women. Pay attention when you go into the Hanger 79, you still can seethe bullet hold shot by Japanese attack airplane on the window of the hanger door.

I love everything related to military history. Being military, that might sound biased but I assure you that it’s not. This is one of the most amazing places that I’ve ever visited in my 39 years of life. Every single exhibition or museum that we visited is special. This is a must visit if you’re around the area. And like we were told, this would give you cooler points that going to the beach.

With military id, can drive there, onto Ford Island. With military or kamaaina id, can buy tickets same day, no reservations needed. The new Top of Tower is extra $, but super cool. Very knowledgeable and engaging tour guide! We had a great private tour of the control tower that was being built at the time of the attack, Dec 7, 1941, and was finished later. Enjoyed a great discussion of WWII. Flight simulator is extra $, but pretty cool. At least my tour buddy could fly it without crashing. There's a new exhibit honoring Bob Hope that is cool. Enjoyed seeing all the planes.

Lots of big planes with interesting designs. The hangar behind the main museum looks like an airplane graveyard not really worth the walk in the sun. But the planes outside are cool. For younger kids that aren’t reading all the history it’s a quick activity. There are lots of information to learn more for those interested in the history. There is a free shuttle bus that comes every 15-20 min. Took a bit of looking to find the shuttle pick up spot but just ask around if you are struggling. It’s on the right as you enter. We bought our tickets on the day at the counter and arrived around 2:30pm. We went on a Wednesday. There wasn’t much parking available but because we went late others that came earlier were starting to leave. Parking is $7 and you pay on a website with a QR code displayed around the area. They don’t allow any bags or purses or fanny packs. Just bring your keys, wallet, and phone in your pockets.

This was a great stop to view tons of historic airplanes! I loved walking through the main hanger but also the outdoor area and the original hanger out back. You could still see bullet holes in the glass from the attack on pearl harbor. The airfield tower was also great to visit.

Great little museum on historic Ford Island. Lots of well planned exhibits and significant artifacts. If you get the chance to speak to one of the docents they are a wealth of information and so willing to share it! We even learned that one of the Pearl Harbor survivors went on to become a Dallas police officer and was standing next to Lee Harvey Oswald when Jack Ruby shot him!

It’s a wonderful Museum of you like history. I personally loved it, as it had lots of graphics videos and artifacts. As you enter, no bags are allowed (charge for small bag is $7 fee large bags are $10 to store them). I would suggest to buy the passport for the entire museum as it will cost you about $95 for 4 museums.

If you have an interest in military history, this was a really cool museum. As soon as you drive up, you see all kinds of cool stuff outside. When you go inside the hanger, the tour starts off with a video. Then you get into all the planes that they have on the inside of the hanger. There was a really cool motorcycle in there as well. This is also where the flight simulator is, which was fun, but we had a bit of an experience with it, lol. I guess the first time we tried to ride it, it made some weird noises, so they cut it off, and we had to switch to the other one. It was actually very fun, though. Then you go outside and see all kinds of aircraft. Some of which are from other countries as well. There's also another hanger that has a few war-torn aircraft in it. And a tent that is dedicated to Bob Hope. That was really cool as well. All in all, I would give it more stars if I could. It makes for an addition to a very awesome day if you're hitting everything historically in the Pearl Harbor area.

Good museum Honestly been to better World War 2 aircraft museums. But you cannot leave the location to be. The Japanese attack really happened. To see the bullet holes still in the windows. To stand on the airfield to see the tower. Once in a lifetime experience. And one of the best modern aircraft displays. I've ever seen from planes from Vietnam to a tomcat. But if you do not know your history, you won't fully appreciate it but I would recommend it

To be 100 percent honest... we just went to the exchange and walked over to the parking lot and saw all the planes. It was wide open and amazing. We saw all the planes and looked around...and it was pretty awesome...pretty cool to be that close to a Blue Angel. The Hanger...with the WW2 bullet holes from the attack...pretty amazing.

One hundred percent worth the time to visit. If you’re into aviation and/or history, this is your place. It’s clear that these folks genuinely care for their museum and their exhibits. Plus, you can see the restoration area where future exhibits are being prepared. How cool. Go see this museum on Ford Island and enjoy the rich history that’s waiting for you!

After visiting the Memorial, it seemed like there could not be more to see! Until the bus dropped us at The Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum. Walking inside in midday sun, it seemed like a feast of planes packed in a cool indoor Hangar. Going back to WWII, for us without much knowledge of what fighter planes looked like, up-close-and-personal views were awe-inspiring. To reflect on the dare-devil pilots and fighters who flew these machines, and how the war would propel them into the leading edge of chaos and mayhem is hard to wrap your minds around. The well-preserved skeletons of gigantic transport planes rest in the back – it is hard to fathom that these beasts can actually stay in flight. Marvels of engineering and audacity of human courage. Memorable.

Excellent collection of aircraft and history; and the information provided is great. They are doing a great job with what they have. Loved seeing the addition of Blue Angels 4! Plus fascinating to see the bullet holes from Pearl Harbor attack still in windows. I do hope they can expand covered space soon as it pains me to see so many wonderfully historic aircraft sitting outside exposed to the elements.☹️ Worth a visit for sure.

Clean and with a large collection of restored planes. They have an A6M Zero fighter, which is incredibly rare to see. The short film was informative and had interviews with a lot of veterans, which is cool to see. Highly recommend the Top if the Tower tour add-on if you really want a bird's-eye view of the harbor and fantastic overview of the battle itself. Great place to visit!

It's a space where you can view various airplanes along with historical facts. Using the audio guide, you can access information in different languages. The well-restored airplanes present a fascinating sight, allowing you to feel the allure as well as the darker aspects of war. Shuttle transportation is available from the Pearl Harbor Memorial, and tickets need to be purchased.

Found the tour guide for the aviation museum to be fantastic. Very informative and entertaining without being too cheesy. Speaking of cheesy, make sure to get the hangar burger from the aviation museum. Well worth it. Burger Patty was on point.

  • 5/5 Leah J. 1 year ago on Google
Definitely recommend the guided tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the different types of planes. The only critique I would be was that the tour spends a lot of time going over what happened at Pearl Harbour but we had just come from the Pearl Harbor museum so it was a bit repetitive.

  • 5/5 Fabio P. 11 months ago on Google
There was a lot to look at in one day. We purchased tickets for three exhibits. For this one, we had to take a bus from the main visitor center into the military base. We were warned not to take pictures on the way in, or our phones and cameras could get confiscated. You can take pictures once you arrive.

  • 5/5 Will Y. 11 months ago on Google
A must-see side of Pearl Harbor for anyone interested in history, aviation, or military. The guided tour was well worth the money so we could have questions answered and get an indepth look at the backdrops of war. If you have the chance to book the tower tour that recently opened, it's an incredible view that helps paint the full picture.

  • 5/5 Blanca C. 4 years ago on Google
Wow! Absolutely incredible! I went to the Arizona Memorial, boarded a battleship, went to see a few planes on a hanger, and even went inside a submarine! It's eye opening to be where these brave souls once were. Thank you Pearl Harbor. Thank you!

This is a nice little air museum. It is composed of two hangers and outdoor displays. The museum focuses on aviation around the islands and has several educational displays. They are also in the process of restoring aircraft to add to displays and you can see them in the restoration phases. One of the cool things here is during living history day or open cockpit days, check calendar ahead of time, you can sit in the actual cockpits of several of their aircraft. The museum is located on joint base pearl harbor hickam so you will need to arrange access ahead of time to visit the museum.

So cool to see the planes and history at Pearl Harbor. Would recommend checking this out

  • 3/5 Marc J. 5 months ago on Google
While I can appreciate renovations, this exhibit left a lot to be desired. There were roughly 20 planes; 15 of which were not in great condition from sitting in the elements. The hanger 79 where I suspect they belong was disheveled and disorganized with trash, pieces of various planes / vehicles, and unknown parts. The indoor part of the exhibit was well kept and clean. I loved the simulation machines and mock diner.

  • 5/5 Glenn A. 5 years ago on Google
Great! Loved it! You have to come when it opens so you don't have to fight the crowds. The WWII exhibit and the Jets were just awesome. Make sure you bring sunscreen as it can get really hot outside.

  • 5/5 Allan R. 5 months ago on Google
We only had enough time to grab a bite to eat from their diner (really good, tad pricey), hit the just ship real quick and check out the planes on the outside. I wish we would have planned more time for our visit, especially for the Ford Island side. Hope to come back in the future and check out the museum as well.

  • 3/5 Joe G. 7 months ago on Google
It’s a cool exhibit - entered with the Citypass but would probably skip it if I had to pay full price. This, the sub, ship, and Pearl Harbor memorial are all accessible together starting at Pearl Harbor memorial. You can take a free shuttle to the other exhibits which is the only way you can get to Ford Island because apparently it’s still a military base. I’d recommend handing in your audio guide after Pearl Harbor before you go into the shuttle instead of having to take it with you especially since you’re not allowed bags.

  • 5/5 James C. 4 years ago on Google
Wow this is really a cool place. If you can get over to Fort Island this is a must see and from what I understand there are tour buses that you can take if you don’t have base access.

Such an amazing and often overlooked museum. We definitely did not have enough time to see everything we wanted on our quick 3 hour trip. It does take time to get to the museum and back to your car since you need to be transported onto Ford island by bus from the Pearl Harbor parking lot. I highly recommend spending at least 3 hours at the museum so you can see the video, tour the facilities (including the Raytheon rent with interactive exhibits for kids and kids at heart), and tryout the flight simulator!

Cool museum that shows some good history of aviation on the attack of Pearl Harbor. It has some planes from both sides. Part of the museum is the next hangar over - hangar 57. There are some cool historical and modern planes displayed there. The building itself is very neat. There are still bullet holes from the strafing that happened on Dec 7.

After visiting the USS Arizona we took the shuttle over to Ford Island and toured the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum. This was a very special day. The museum has a fantastic and growing collection. Everything is beautifully displayed. We did the self-tour, but also visited with very knowledgeable staff who offered interesting facts on the exhibits. I learned some fascinating things about WWII that I had never heard before. After you walk through the main exhibit hall, be sure to walk outside and around the back of the building to Hangar 79. There are more planes and helicopters in that display than in the main exhibit hall!

Crazy expensive for what it offers in comparison to the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Air Force Museums in Dayton or Warner Robins, or of course the Smithsonian. Cafe had one old ham sandwich ... They have a zero which is rare, F104 and F5, which you don't see everyday.

  • 5/5 Sports C. 3 years ago on Google
So many amazing planes and helicopters to see here!!!

  • 5/5 James W. 2 years ago on Google
Memorable. You can still see the bullet holes (see photo) from the Japanese strafing run during the Pear Harbor attack. It's over$20 a person but you also get some pretty unique views of the USS Arizona out here on Fort Island as a bonus view if you make a detour after leaving the museum. I was told by the staff non-military can gain access to this base via some sort of bus service (call ahead to learn the process). However, you will need a VA card or some other military ID to independently drive onto the installation.

I really enjoyed seeing the aviation part of history. A very nice collection of different aircrafts with very informative descriptions. I liked the little short movie that you can watch in the beginning of hanger 37. There is a cute cafe and small gift shop too. I personally loved hanger 79. It truly felt like walking into the past. You can still see visible damage to the glass from December 7th. It's not overwhelming to walk through so children and seniors would be able to handle it. Definitely worth a visit!

Great museum, recommend getting the audio tour to help along the way.

Cool museum... unfortunately many displays are closed due to covid, so unless you are an airplane or Pearl Harbor enthusiast I would give it a miss until post covid.

You cannot miss this place if you visit Hawaii. There is so much history about the World War 2. We went to this place first thing out of airport even before checking into our hotel. The shuttle bus from main island made it convenient to visit this museum and a good place to visit with family

Definitely worth checking out if you're interested in aviation. There are two hangers of airplanes and several outdoor exhibits. Old historic machines to newer jets and choppers. We also enjoyed the dog-fight flight simulator experience.

Great museum and we artifacts but I wish there was a tad more for the price. You can start off with a short film that is pretty interesting and jump right into the museum. There are great facts for each exhibit and tons of old planes. The initial musuem is kinda short but you can go ouside and around back to an actual hangar with far more planes and helicopters and a kids discovery section where they can do a ton of activities. This was by far my favorite part.

👍👍 Nice beach away from the crowds at all the public beaches on the south shore! Perfect for kids because there's no waves, it's shallow, and there's lifeguards on duty. There's cabanas to rent along with SUP boards and kayaks for $10/hr or $20 for the day. There's also restrooms, an awesome beach bar/...
