I went with a friend after a few days of heavy rain, expecting the waterfalls to be flowing so we could do some cliff jumping. When we pulled into the parking area, we opened Pokemon Go and found a Dragonite! so we already knew it was gonna be a good day. The path down was VERY muddy and we almost got lost at one point but we made it. The waterfalls were flowing heavily and there were several people already there jumping in so we gladly joined them and had a great time. The walk back was pretty rough and we got ourselves all muddy all over again. I would strongly recommend bringing a half gallon of water per person just to leave in the car to wash off your muddy feet when you get back, as well as lots of water for the hike itself for drinking.

A very well organized and engaging memorial/museum, especially for history buffs and armchair generals. You could spend at least 4 hours here just doing the Arizona memorial (reservations recommended, but if you arrive early, the standby line seems reliable and fast) and just going through and reading all the free stuff. They do an excellent job retelling the events leading up to and including the attack, and events following. Many stories and heroics are recorded here for your reading of the soldiers, marines, and seamen.

Unfortunately I messed up my dates and missed my slot for the memorial boat ride (you need to book a few weeks in advance). Still decided to go and take a look at the other elements of the museum. As you would expect there is quite a heavy, emotional feel to the place. Some good exhibits that give great insight into the events with effort to explain all sides of the story. I would have loved to go back and take more time to see all sights.

My 8 year old had learned about pearl harbor in school and wanted to visit it. We tried signing up for the free boat ride USS Arizona Memorial the day or two before,.. but it filled up immediately. There is like two parking lots. The main one get's full. There is one literally to the right of it. I'm not sure why it's not connected.. but maybe because it's for the submarine museum next door. Anyways,.. we ended parking to the right (free parking). I didn't like the bag policy. As some have mentioned, parents with baby's.. its abit of an annoyance to have to check in your bag or backpack at the bag checkin center. Luckily my wife had a clear bag. But what's surprising is the approved purse size. My wife's purse was literally just a few inches too long and we were asked to check in her purse. Entrance is free. There were about 2-3 exhibit rooms. You can view them pretty quickly or you can take your time as they have some audio recording you can listen to. There was an outdoor video, but we passed on this. You can walk around the center and take pictures and that takes about 30 min. We finished the visitor center in about 1.5-2hours. It was interesting, but I'm not a huge history guy.

First time to Pearl. So aspects were great and well done, others surprise me with poor execution or lack of detail. Almost seems like Pearl Harbor been the tourist destination it is at funding issues on some aspects. Not surprised me! Most people come there for the Arizona Memorial which is great but very short. I found the aviation museum in Battleship to be the main attractions. I can't speak to the submarine because I just didn't have time to go on it. Book your tickets well in advance for the Arizona memorial. You shouldn't have any issues picking up Aviation Museum or Battleship tickets on site. There are some bus tours that take you around but I didn't take those so I can't speak to him. It can get crowded and very hot so plan accordingly with sunscreen sunglasses in a water bottle. They will not let you in with any kind of bag or purse and will rent you a locker for $10 so be aware of that you have to be able to carry what you bring.

I honestly don’t know how you can give this less than 5 stars. Sure, maybe it’s crowded and there are parking issues and lines, but so what. This is about a memorial to all those that made the ultimate sacrifice. This is about paying respects to those that died so tragically. Not just those in service, but civilians as well. This is a spot like no other for reflection and peaceful thought. To think about what occurred in WWII and all wars. It’s a beautiful tribute. There is so much here to explore and learn about. Tickets to the Arizona are in high demand, you must reserve well ahead of your trip. They do release a small amount of additional tickets the day before for each day, but those go in minutes once released. But not worry if you cannot get tickets. Just going to the park itself is incredibly moving. Complaining about inconveniences with parking, lines, staff, tickets etc, for this memorial site is simply disrespectful to those lives lost here. There are over a 1000 lives buried at sea here, don’t visit if you will complain.

It’s free to get into Pearl Harbor and there’s lots to see. If you want to go to the battleship Missouri, Arizona memorial, or the submarine, there’s separate tickets for each. We were in Honolulu for a day trip from Big Island, so we just chose one attraction - Missouri, which we enjoyed a lot. The wait for the shuttle to get there was a bit long and it took us a minute to find the line for it. There was also a stop on the same shuttle for an aviation museum, which was yet another separate ticket. (We didn’t go to that one.) If you had time to see it all, it definitely would have been pretty pricey. But again - getting into Pearl Harbor and walking around, seeing the ships from the shore, going into the museums in the main area - all free. So you can visit on a smaller scale without spending a dime. No bags allowed, but if you do your research in advance you’ll find you can bring in a clear bag (which I did) and they’ll let you carry it in after they give it a quick look. Otherwise you can pay (I think $10) to check your bag into a locker.

A place you must visit while here in Oahu. I live on the island and am always discovering something new here. Although the tour boats to the USS Arizona are not running due to a safety issue with the doc, there is still so much to see here. The USS Bowfin is a great site to tour and learn about submarine warfare/evolution since WW2. There is plenty of staff and park rangers around to ensure you and your families have a wonderful experience. Expect to be here a solid half day if you go on both the Arizona and Bowfin. That time spent is 100% worth it.

They play the national anthem at 0800. It gave me chills. Great place to visit. They don't have like a guide unless you pay for the audio tour or a tour from somewhere else, but it was easy to just follow along and walk through the site. We only walked the Pearl Harbor side, they have 3 other site you can visit and it took like 2 hours. Would recommend just wish they had maps or something and it was small inside the museum.

Every time we come to Oahu we pay our respect to this place. As a family of military personnel, coming here is very surreal. The devastation that happened here is saddening but I love how we get to pay our respect by honoring these fallen hero’s.

This is a beautiful memorial. To those who gave up their own lives for our freedom. The ride out on the ferry is a somber ride. As you get closer and see what is left behind, then you realize how emotional and deep this really is. Not to be taken lightly. This isn't a place for running around or making noise. Keep your young ones in check. This serves as a memory for everyone. Needs to be treated with much respect, honor, and gratitude.

Fun hike to a waterfall - good swimming. When we did it in mid July, the trail was super muddy! Quite steep and very slippery in parts.

A beautiful spot and a great place to look at the history. I would have loved to go on the boat ride unfortunately the winds were too high and we couldn't go. I think it's a really nice place to check out if you are in Honolulu, Hawaii.

This was the greatest experience to visit in Honolulu. I’ve been to Hiroshima, so to see the full circle of these historic events was a blessing. We bought the full passport and also booked entrance in advance for the USS Arizona. Arrived at 7am and it was worth it. Had the Bowfin Submarine to ourselves as we were first. The Audio guides were a great tool and would recommend getting these. No need for a human guide if you have these. Maybe just take your own wired headphones as their headphones weren’t the best fit for small kids ears especially. The museum at the Pacific Fleet was really really good and a must see. Then took a shuttle to The USS Missouri and it was a must visit. What an impressive battleship. Also took the free 30min guided tour and was well worth it! Walking though all the levels if the ship, listening to stories, seeing where the sailors slept, ate was really eye opening. This ship was impressive and the corndogs after wasn’t bad either. Then did the Aviation Museum and again used the Audio guided devices. Really really helpful. What an impressive display of planes and history. Hanger 79 with bullet holes were where the whole story really came together for me. Just wow!! Free Shuttles between the sights were well air conditioned and friendly drivers. Very convenient! Then did the Arizona museum again with Audio guides and spent lots of time here listening and reliving the events. The artefacts here on display was really impressive. Lastly we visited the USS Arizona and what a sight to behold. The atmosphere was really somber and even though we are not American, we felt really proud of the sacrifice these marines made for their country and for the world. Some notes: - Don’t take any bags they are not allowed - maybe take own headphones - take water - spend enough time at each attraction. Yes even 2 hours at each - take lots of pics - snacks in the grounds are expensive

This is a must visit place here on Oahu. It's absolutely crucial that you book your tickets in advance if you want to be sure that you can get in because there is a limit on the number of guests they let in. You can walk the museum area until 10 minutes before your scheduled time to board the boat. While on the memorial you have 15 minutes to see everything before the next boat and people arrive and your boat lines up to head back to the visitor center

We spent morning to evening checking out all the historical sections here! Lot of the museums at the visitor's center is free and we'll set up. Get the passport to pearl harbor pass if you're looking to do all the other sites like bowfin, missouri, aviation museum etc. The grounds are beautiful and plenty of restrooms and a shop to grab food n drinks.

I love everything related to military history. Being military, that might sound biased but I assure you that it’s not. This is one of the most amazing places that I’ve ever visited in my 39 years of life. Every single exhibition or museum that we visited is special. This is a must visit if you’re around the area. And like we were told, this would give you cooler points that going to the beach.

Visiting Pearl Harbor was one of the top reasons we made the trip to Hawaii. My son loves WWII history and this was a dream of his. Highly recommend!!!

Even though most park are free, the boat tour is not. It is recommended to buy boat ticket in advanced. So many historical documents here. Must visit if you plan to go to Oahu.

Wonderful experience on this walk through history! This visitor center is free but you do have to store all bags / purses, unless clear, at lockers prior to entering. The locker was $7. We walked through the grounds but also took the ride out the the USS Arizona Memorial which was a somber experience. We booked our time several months in advance through the GOV website and was no issue getting on the tour the day of our reservation. The Pearl Harbor exhibit is free. You have to pay for parking. You may take your cellphone. Purses and bags are not allowed. You take a short boat ride to the Pearl Harbor USS Arizona memorial. It is a sacred sight visitor's should be respectful. Their is a short film that explains what led to the attack on the Harbor and is a must-see. The park also has other significant exhibits that are worth viewing while you are there. Plan for at least an hour or two to absorb the views and learn more history.

Kinda disappointed to be honest with the museum. Unless you paid or had tickets in advance, you won't get to fully enjoy all of the historic events that took place on Pearl Harbor. I guess I expected more displays from the museum as many other federal parks. The parking is a nightmare! Good luck finding some. Overhyped.

Historical location that was on my bucket list. We did not take any of the other tours offered, just wanted to go out and visit the USS Arizona Memorial. Take a short boat ride across the harbor from the visitors center area and are on the memorial 15 minutes max, so take your pictures quick. The rangers are very efficient at keeping groups coming and going off of the memorial and back across the harbor. They do have some museums at visitors center area that were interesting and informative.

Wow, a must see. Visited nearly all of the indoor and outdoor exhibits over nearly an entire day from 1000hrs to closing. Recommend the full package experience which includes shuttles between sites and all individual site admissions. Profoundly well-prepared exhibits, interpretive signage, technology assisted interpretation, and well-versed staff. Very worthwhile. Read the prepare-before-you-go information on websites. Most of the exhibits exist on an active military base, so lockers are available at entrance admission to store items such as backpacks or carry-bags which are not permitted on-site. Staff at entrance, throughout exhibits, in eateries and at entrance security are very professional and greatly talented in hospitality. "They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. We will remember them."

This historic American treasure is a great place to remind us of the great sacrifices and devastation we had to endure to maintain our freedom. The Arizona is a separate tour in the park. It was the highlight of the day for me! It is a National burial site or cemetery. The ship is barely under water so you can still see the silos and other fine details. It is a beautiful memorial and gratifying way to pay tribute to the young veterans that paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

This place is beautiful. The reverence is felt for all the lives lost but not forgotten.

As a veteran, I wanted to pay respect to my fallen brothers in arms. Hint: you can take petals off the flowered leis and drop them in the water. Don't throw the entire lei, fish can choke on the string. I would like to visit again.

Historical memorial that is befitting of these men who were entombed in the ship 🥺🙏 Reality hits you in the face with the back wall. Just befitting and even the survivors of the AZ, after they pass, can be placed with their brothers 🇺🇲 Only a 4 because I don't think they give you enough time before they boot you out for the next group. I ha only gotten to the back wall by the time they called us out. 🥺 Would've been nice to have a few more minutes to see the other side. They also said we'd be able to take pics outside once we were done but that didn't happen either, they wanted us right on the boat to take off.

Pearl Harbor is worth the trip. Plan a full day to spend here. Arizona tickets are hard to come by, but there is a standby line, plan 2+ hours and get in line around 7am. You can buy other packages online for submarine, battleship, and air museums but you can only get Veteran discount in person for your Vet. Show respect for those who have been lost, take pride in how far we have come, and remember all who've served.

I'm so grateful it's here. It's a great testimony for the greatest generation. It reinforces my love for American.

We purchase a limo tour that took us through the punch bowl as well, our guide was a veteran which gave us a great perspective. Only wish was that we had more time, you need a half day to see everything. Get tickets early so you can take the trip out to the Arizona, absolutely humbling. Things we wanted to see but missed were the submariners museum and going aboard the Missouri. But was a fantastic trip non the less.

Getting tickets online is kind of a pain and honestly no one ACTUALLY checked the tickets at all. The museum is excellent and free definitely need to stop and check out prior to boarding the boat for the Arizona it will give you a greater appreciation for the sacrifice of the soldiers. REALLY wish people were better about being respectful when actually on the memorial. Can get a little crowded on the memorial but it's very sobering and very humbling. Definitely worth paying your respects if you have time. They do NOT let you take bags inside it's $7 for bag storage for a medium to small bag. Luggage is $10 plus tax. The storage is off the side. They also have a sizeable parking lot ($7) but I noticed many people take the bus, shuttle or Uber. They have a great gift shop as well.

It was so beautiful, emotional and educational. I loved seeing the Arizona memorial and watching the movie about Pearl Harbor. Everything was very elegantly done. I also loved seeing the submarine museum and getting to tour the USS Bowfin Submarine. I highly recommend visiting.

Peaceful, clean and beautiful visitor center to begin your tour of various Pearl Harbor sites. The center has a good 23 minute film, multiple plaques and historic items, restrooms, snack & soda shop, large gift shop, benches outside for calm observance and reflection. From the memorial park like setting you can see the Arizona memorial and the Missouri in the distance across the harbor. I highly recommend adding visiting both ships to your tour. Boats ferry you out to the Arizona. Tour guides take you to the Missouri by bus or car.

We stopped for a visit to the Arizona sunk ship. With so much to see in Oahu you should just youtube this site. Everything here was operated with efficiency. Facilities were clean. Service and attentiveness was held to a high standard. Parking was easy to find for us @ $7. They do have a store on site that sells waters and typical amusement store items.

Great memorial to a significant day in American History. The grounds are spacious, clean, and very informative about what happened on December 7, from both the American and Japanese perspectives. I'd recommend buying tickets in advance and coming early. It takes a about an hour and a half to get here by bus from Waikiki.

Visit to USS Arizona Memorial was nice. They make it a point to stress that this is not an attraction but rather a memorial. It was fairly quick, roughly 15 minutes on memorial site is all you get. Gift shop was extremely packed and a little unorganized. The wait at the register was a little long.

Very somber. The memorial has various museums, tours, and a few amenities sufficient for such a place. Bags are not allowed inside the grounds so leave them in the car or check them for a small fee. What a strange place.

Absolutely loved it here. A great learning experience for all ages. We missed the USS Arizona which was a big disappointment. They had to close it off because of the high winds. They said we could come back within the week and wait but there was no guarantee all 11 of us would be able to get on. I definitely regret not at least trying. But gives us a good reason to go back.

This review is for the USS Arizona Memorial Deluxe Tour but has very important info on parking and getting in! This package only gave us sound with earphones and a cellphone to hear what I can read in the wonderful free exhibition. IT didn’t include any boat trip to the USS Arizona Memorial like the name seems would be included. Be aware. They will not let you bring anything larger than a wallet sized purse or bag into the exhibit! I had to leave my wife’s purse in our car and our water bottles too! I never saw this on this package and had to go back to our car to redo as many other people. Please put notes in the lot about this. They do have lockers to rent if you walked there. This is true for just being a free walk in visitor! No kiosks either to pay $7.00 parking! Had to set up on my iPhone to pay it. Need license plate number to complete. The tour on the boat was excellent and makes you sad to think of the sacrifices made by our men. You must buy online before going. The memorial on land is a must see too with all the information.

The history on Pearl Harbor was kind of cool, but was much more interesting was the general WW2 naval history. The Submarine museum from WW2 to modern day was neat, and getting to go inside a WW2 sub puts that life in perspective.

The USS Arizona and other park service run sites are amazing. Visiting the memorial is a humbling experience, one that will likely evoke an emotional response. It is a sacred area. On the other hand, visitors need to know that several of the other options connected to the PH complex are not run by the park service and require entrance fees. These include the submarine, the USS Missouri and the aviation museum. Don't get on the free shuttle bus if you don't want to pay entry fees for these.

There is honestly nothing much to see. The memorial is just a hall in the sea and you need to take a boat to get there. You also need to reserve the boat spot in advance. As I am not an American, the memorial means nothing to me. I recommend you to spend your time on some actual attractions.

This place is awesome. Everyone in the United States should come and experience it. It is very surreal what the sailors and marines went through during and after the attack on Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941.

For $6 per bag, $10 oversize/luggage, visitors may store backpacks, purses, luggage, and shopping bags at the baggage storage area. Parking and admission to the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center are free. Admission to Arizona Memorial is free. Boat departs every 30mins. Must reserve timed ticket in advance at recreation.gov (require account sign in). If there are no tickets available, additional (but very few) tickets are released 3pm (HST) the day prior to visit. Be ONTIME if you have reservation. If you don’t have a reservation, plan to spend approx 1.5hours in the standby line (if you are not the first standby group that get to board), good thing is only 1person/party have to stay in line and the rest can explore the exhibits while waiting for your turn. Battleship Missouri Memorial and Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum are both located on Ford Island and are only accessible to the general public via the shuttle buses which depart from the Visitor Center every 15 minutes. The last shuttle back to the Visitor Center leaves at 5:00 p.m. from Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum.

Such a profound historical site. Definitely a must see if you are in the area.

Fantastic place to visit. Everyone that we met their were very informative, helpful and friendly. Everything was very well done. The introductory movie had actual footage from the attack and information I had not known before. The Arizona memorial itself was awe inspiring and yet very solemn. What an honor it was to have been able to visit.

Such a moving experience . Top notch tribute to our military and America's grit.

Museums very interesting. Did not do audio tour but absolutely should have- the shuttle boat + Arizona memorial has no info/signage so there’s not much to enjoy if you don’t have the audio tour. With COVID, you also watch the video after you take the boat to the memorial, so wish I could have gotten there early to watch and have a better understanding before heading over.

What a surreal experience. The oil is still slowly seeping up leaving slicks on the surface that are very colorful. The room at the back of the memorial displays the names of all of the souls entombed below. Something anyone and everyone should experience.

It was humbling to be there and see all the sacrifices that were made for our freedom. Many great people lost their lives. Would be better if the ship tours and memorial were included with ticket prices and not an extra fee.

History is priceless, unless you are here. Then history is $300 for a family, for a national park.... Doesn't matter because random closures make it impossible to view and since nobody knows when it might open ... well Hawaii has a lot of natural beauty. Enjoy that and use the savings from this rip off our shared to take a trip to the Smithsonian and Air & Space (free) or Disney for the same price.

beautiful scenery & worth it because when you make it to the end of the Manana Trail you a have a beautiful waterfall & a nice ice cold pond to swim & dive into. Well worth it!!

Not sure what I expected to see, but it wasn't entertaining for me. Oh, there is a no bag policy so you either need to keep your belongings in the car, which i wouldn't recommend, or pay 7 dollars to keep the bag in the locker. If you are prepared, leave them in your hotel room.
