Restaurant Indian restaurant Nepalese restaurant

👍 First time eating here, ordered via DoorDash, and I was happy with our food experience! We ordered the creamy bhunas with chicken (no spice), garlic Naan and Himalayan curry with lamb (level 5 spice). The garlic Naan was absolutely delicious! I could've done a double order of that for my wife and I... People often mention Indian, good, delicious, order, chicken, ordered, wait, spice, great, restaurant,

First time eating here, ordered via DoorDash, and I was happy with our food experience! We ordered the creamy bhunas with chicken (no spice), garlic Naan and Himalayan curry with lamb (level 5 spice). The garlic Naan was absolutely delicious! I could've done a double order of that for my wife and I. Both curries were good, but there are chunks of star anise in them that I wasn't aware of until I bit into it, twice. My wife bit into 3 chunks in her curry. I understand they add great overall flavor in the dish, but biting into the whole chunks is unpleasant. I'm a fan of spicy food, and the level 5 spice was pretty darn spicy for me. Not unbearably so, but enough that I was reaching for the water with haste. If you're not a spice junkie, beware that anything above 6-10 may melt your face off. Overall, very happy with Himalayan Kitchen and will probably eat here again.

It's a good Indian restaurant in Ala Moana Mall . We ordered their onion and vegetable pakora, Vegetarian biryani. Both were good.

I am in trip to Hawaii and look around for Nepalese Indian restaurant. I would rate 0 if there is option for it the food. I ordered chicken choila and chicken birayani. I was shocked seeing choila which is too salty, and literally is that choila??😳 Chicken birayani is worst I ever had. I suggest not to order food from this restaurant.

The place is brand new and needs some interior styling but LET ME TELL YOU, THEIR FOOD IS SUPER DELISH. Especially the coconut curry dish was a bomb! And the owner was super kind~

Highly disappointed by the food here. We ordered Shahi paneer and they gave Indian curry with mozzarella cheese. Veg Korma was extremely bad with a foul smell. Samosa were the worst Somosas we ever ate in US. Overall highly disappointing experience. If you want to eat authentic Indian food, this is not the place to go.

I lived in Delhi for around two years and this is the closest I’ve found to authentic Indian food. The food is super good and always comes served piping hot, even when it’s done via Uber Eats. Needless to say this is the best Indian restaurant on Oahu, and certainly on the windward side.

Had to wait an extra 20+ mins for pick up due to their iPad dying and not being able to swipe my credit card. Once I got home the food was cold. Posted a picture of an updated menu, sorry flash messed a few things up lol

The food was pretty good. Small space, but good for take out or a small group.

I've been to both locations in Kailua and kaimuki several times. Both have delicious plates, order the saag madras or just madras. The best one for American palettes. WAIT TIMES ARE LONG, JUST A FACT 1 HOUR (the very least) OR ALMOST 2 HOURS (more common wait time) prepare mentally and order way way ahead.

Great Indian / Nepali food in the former space of India Cafe. The food is just as good as in the original Kaimuki location. There are about 5 tables inside and outside but mostly this is a takeaway spot.

Got UberEats order, took a little bit but was piping hot and ready. Worth it 1000%. If you've never had food of this caliber you will be blown away. Must get for Kaliua!

Since moving to Kailua, this restaurant has peaked my interest because there’s always a good amount of people outside waiting for their food. I placed a take out order on a busy Friday night and only waited about 35 mins for my food. I ordered samosas, butter chicken, and naan. All were EXCELLENT! The one thing I will say is their spice level is lacking. They give you an option to order on a spice level of 0-10… I chose a 4 and it was very mild (I personally don’t like stuff too spicy either). Overall, great quality food and service!

To go only, but 100% worth it! I got the creamy bhuna with chicken and basmati rice, my husband got the tandoori chicken entree (we're not sure which curry his came with, but it was delicious), and we also got the naan basket. The portions are generous (we both have leftovers for lunch tomorrow), and the flavors were beautiful! I can't wait to try everything on their menu!! Also, the gentleman working this evening (9/15/2022) was very nice and has great customer service. Sorry I didn't take any pictures- the food didn't last long enough!

It's too bad, the food is excellent but the service is horrible!! I was told 15 to 20 minutes. Took over 50 minutes. I said my name for pick up. The girl walked away. Filling phone orders. Never responded to me again. Over 15 customers waited outside either to pick up our order. First and last time I come here.

Good food. The new owners are 5-star. The old owners were 6-Star!!! I still enjoy their food when visiting the windward side. New restaurant name is Indian Curry Express (sign above the door).

We had Everest Sekuwa (lamb) and it was delicious! Grilled lamb chunks with spices over a sizzling platter of vegetables. Yum! The garlic naan & onion naan we're both very tender and tasty. The Beigan Bharta and Chicken Vindaloo we're both seasoned well. You can ask them to adjust heat levels to your taste. It's in a funky location, and don't serve alcohol, but we'd come here again for the food.

First of all, the Google Maps listing showed "dine in", saying they offer seating. They don't; and it's a very very small place with room for maybe two tables anyway. We went there wanting to dine in and had to get it to go. Also, the food was a bit bland. We ordered spicy, which it was, but there just seemed to be a lack of flavor, sorry. I'm a bit surprised, as the other location in Kaimuki is wonderful.

I had the chat, delicious and a generous portion. I took the order to go and the person who helped me was very polite and provided great service. I would come here again as there doesn't seem to be too many Indian restaurants on the island.

  • 3/5 jessica del r. 1 year ago on Google
I love their food.. they are the ONLY Indian food on this side of the island. But it's weird hours. Frustrating when you're having a craving and gotta wait but I understand it's not easy getting the food prepared. I hope they get more help soon.

Not sure if the man who helped me was the owner or not, but whoever it was, his kindness and generosity left me with a warm belly full of delicious food!!!♥️ Thank you for going out of your way!! Generous portions, I over stuffed myself to finish the naan because it was so good fresh that I couldn't dream of trying to reheat it later. I got the Baigan Bharta, an eggplant sauce that is so satisfying for a vegetarian dish. I asked for medium heat, around 5 or 6...it had a nice kick, I think it was perfect for a medium. The flavors were multidimensional and DELICIOUS!!! I'm a happy customer who plans to be a regular when we move to Kailua from Aiea in April, and I know my husband will be jealous I got to try without him. Thanks again!

Lovely place if you love North Indian food. Rice, dishes, bread, all very enjoyable. It currently a takeout only place and you cannot dine in. But don’t hesitate to try it if you like this type of food.

  • 5/5 Adamo S. 6 months ago on Google
It’s pretty good, not the best Indian food ever but it’s the best in the area for sure. The biriyani is good but it’s too cooked. The chat app is really really good. Take out only

  • 2/5 Dan H. 3 months ago on Google New
Food is EXELLENT but unfortunately the wait for pick up is very long even if you order well in advance. There is only one guy working the front who is very nice but understaffed. In my opinion you need one additional employee working evening shift, at least Fri or Sat. I won’t go any more, can’t sit there for 45 min to pick up, have to get home to my family.

  • 5/5 Elisha M. 5 months ago on Google
The food will take often 25-50 mins average cause this isn’t fast food. And I respect it completely. But this food is worth it. Butter chicken, tikka masala, and the madrass are just amazing. I’ve never had lamb well cooked and prepared like that. I’m single so I can make it last another day for leftovers too

This is only a "order to go" place and not as half as good as the one in Ala Moana Mall. We ordered the same dish as we usually do in the mall and it was one short of an entré so we asked the reason and the oversmart guy told us it is so the people don't get bored with the same menu at all locations 🤣😂 AS IF!!! This was the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Better to go to the one in the Mall, you will meet better servers and have better food.

Always a delicious meal from this restaurant! Grab some samosas and naan to go with the delicious curries. The kailua location doesn't have as many options as the one on 11th Avenue unfortunately.

  • 5/5 Julianne G. 3 years ago on Google
Very delicious food. I always get the himchuli chat - it’s my favorite. We also love the naan, veggie samosas and my husband usually gets one of the curries with fresh catch fish. Everything is always very delicious and comes with rice.

Called here last night and I have to say we weren’t disappointed. We had to wait a little for a table for 4 as its a super small place, but it was worth the wait. The guy was super friendly and very helpful in explaining that the spice level was as little different to Indian dishes. All the food was delicious, the appetizers, the breads and the main dishes. BYOB though, so we nipped into the store at the side and bought a gallon of milk. Well worth the visit if you are staying local.

Amazing food!!! The butter chicken, matar paneer, vegetable samosas & garlic naan were to die for. Small restaurant but great for takeout and good size portions! Very friendly staff also! Seriously some of the best food I’ve had, and I’ve been to India.

Tiny place, can't remember a better meal ever. My wife is not generally a fan of Asian spice systems and she is raving about it too.

  • 5/5 Stephanie S. 4 years ago on Google
Great food! The place is tiny though, with just a few tables inside & few outside. They do a lot of take out business. We went early for dinner on a Sat & scored a table. Everything that we ordered was great. And the server was super helpful (and funny). Will definitely be back to try more dishes on their menu.

We came here on a whim and it was delicious!! The prices are decent, there was plenty of food, and it was so flavorful! Healthy, and deliciousl I will be returning quite alot, I recommend the chicken Tikka plate and it's cheaper during lunch happy hour, 11-3. That and the naan was incredible definitely worth the short wait!

  • 5/5 Theodore W. 1 year ago on Google
Wonderful! They respect your spice request very faithfully, which is a star itself. None of this weak-willed 2/10 when you wanted 6/10. The mint chutney is another star. Amazing stuff. नमस्ते!

I am from bay area, where we have Indian restaurants in every block. But had the best tandoori roti here in United States

  • 1/5 Jayraj G. 4 years ago on Google
Worst experience ever, we ordered our stuff, it was to go order and than after 50 mins of wait he came and told us they are out of things and we agreed on taking rice instead but when we went home and open it was raw, not cooked at all, i think he put whatever left over. We needed to look for another restaurant at 10 at night, despite of having long day, there is no option for 0 star otherwise i would have given that.

Chicken Biryani Rice is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love the sauce they give you with carrots all over the rice!!!! This place made me love Indian food again. Thanks Chefs! Now I drive 1.5 hrs to get their food hahahahaha

Ok, so there is some confusion about this place. It used to be called India Cafe, but it is now called Himalayan Kitchen. Either way, the food is great.

I live in Kailua, am a Vegetarian and love Indian food. I really wanted this new place to be great. Unfortunately it's not. The Naan is like cardboard, the Onion Kulcha was uncooked inside and the Dahl was spicy but not complex. Just hot. The same can be said of the Veggie Curry & Veggie Korma..just hot but no layers of flavors. I've been there 4 times now hoping for improvement .. & the wait is typically 30 minutes minimum. I may have to give up.
