I am a super ramen fan. I’d like to find an authentic and legit Japanese ramen place around where I lived in Ala Moana. Then I saw this place with the highest rated ramen. Speaking of the restaurant, it is a little small but we were lucky to have a seat. The ramen tasted like instant noodles. It was not decent homemade noodles. Their broth was great but lower than what I expected. Recommend their spicy ramens with eggs.

Always a pleasure to find a Santouka ramen anywhere!!! This one is in a strip mall type food court within easy walking distance from the Hawaii convention center in Honolulu. The quality of the shio broth matches up with what you’ll find in all other locations, and they are generous with the pork cuts as always. This is actually the first one I’ve seen that does take out (although I suppose it’s a pandemic development). The interior is clean and air conditioned, with tables and bar seating. I know ramen is not everyone’s first choice in the tropical climate but worth checking out for an evening meal for sure.

Excellent ramen to go! They've got a cool compartment to keep the noodles separate from the rich broth, the char siu is so tasty and mouth watering, and the staff was superb! Everything is delish!

Due to the affordability I did not expect a lot but the ramen tasted very good. The place has authentic Japanese feel. Staff were friendly. Place is small but very clean. We walked for almost a mile and it was worth it. They have a parking lot in front and other food places nextdoor

This place is my top pick for ramen! It's perfect for a quick solo meal before or after shopping at Don Quijote. My go-to order is always the combo of salmon and ikura rice with kara miso ramen. I highly recommend it for a delicious ramen meal!

It was a small place for the restaurant chain. The ramen was slightly better compared to other Hokkaido in the west coast. The soup was rich, the noodles were chewy but the chasu was a little bit dry. They had quite limited ramen options. The price was reasonable. Recommended.

Next to Don Quijote, it’s the perfect spot to have a quick meal before grocery shopping. (You should never shop hungry, right?) The spicy miso (kara miso) is my favorite. It features three kinds of chili peppers added to a miso-enhanced broth. I’d recommend getting a medium or large bowl. They’re well known for the char siu (pork belly) and toroniku (pork cheek), so be sure to choose one.

Spicy sesame cold ramen with mulberry leaf noodles is amazing. It comes with pork so if you do not eat pork, like me, you need to request that they omit it. Nato rice bowl is literally the cheapest meal anywhere (under $3) and it is quite good. Definitely cheapest vegan meal. Love the iced mulberry leaf teas. Also inexpensive, and very refreshing. Nice space. Very nice staff. Def a great stop.

We were one of the first customers during the weekend and there was a short line going in. There was only one server for both dine-in and take-out, but she was able to handle all the orders in a reasonable amount of time. The menu seemed limited, probably due to Covid, but it was still good. I haven't ate here in person since Covid started, but the ramen is just as I remember. Props for consistency. The only knock down is that the chairs seemed worn down. The chairs settled quite a bit when I sat down.

Super disappointing - noodles are undercooked, broth base is bland, everything else in the dish is barely above instant ramen packets. Miso broth was heavily garlic and not enjoyable.

Pretty good super hot ramen. The shoyu broth was very savory and the pork was super fatty and delicious. The service was very prompt and friendly always making sure my water cup was full.

Delicious little ramen shop! My husband loved the spicy ramen, and my miso ramen was terrific. The broth was sooo flavorful. The only thing to remember is you have to order egg as an add-on if you want egg in your ramen (I think it's one of the best parts!)

Most authentic ramen place on the island. I really have no idea why people prefer Agu, where they just bombard their noodles with salt.

Really sweet service! My water was always topped off too, loved that for the beating hot Hawaii sun. I recommend the ramen with the pork cheek (can't seem to remember the name) along with the combo. The combo itself that provides the bowl is incredibly worth the price especially for the salmon ikura, they don't skimp on the ikura at all. Overall tasty and a nice place to sit.

Nice Hokkaido Ramen experience connected to Don Quijote. The broth was rich and savory and had a just the perfect level of spiciness. After recently living in Japan for 3 years, they matched the tastes perfectly. I ordered the smaller portion of the karamiso, which I feel was just the perfect amount without being too full. A+ for presentation. My go-to spot before grocery shopping.

Delicious ramen, worth the wait. Walked in and had to write our names into their waitlist, wait took about 15-20min. Side dishes of gyoza and kimchi were really good too.

Hokkaido ramen! I'm not sure what the distinctions between the various regions of ramen in Japan are in Japan, but this restaurant's ramen is one of the best I had. We had the toroniku (pork cheek) miso ramen and the toroniku karamiso (spicy) ramen. The pork cheeks were quite tender and flavorful. The broth was creamy and tasty— a must-try restaurant in Honolulu.

Way too oily and salty :( I had a bad nausea for hours after the meal and vomited out the ramen. Not sure if the food is unclean or just too oily.

Great ramen shop next to Don Quijote in Kaheka that hits the spot if you’re in the area and craving a hot bowl of tasty goodness. The ramen broth is rich and tasty and the bowl is packed with char siu. We started with the gyoza and salmon/ikura bowl. Both very good. we’ll definitely be back again. 🤙🏼🤙🏼

Thus was one of the most Authentic Ramen I've ever had. Delicious perfect amount of noodle and you can request extra. The meats and veggies come on a side plate where you add to the bowl. Which is actually more traditional that way. and when you do the combo you have a choices which I had the gyzo and egg.

  • 5/5 Sheree M. 11 months ago on Google
My favorite way to grocery shop at Don Quijote is to wait until almost midday because Hokkaido opens at 11 and there is no better ramen than the roasted pork cheek. it’s always perfectly steamy and the noodles have a perfect bite. Never soggy. Ingredients are fresh and the pork cheek is perfection. It’s not unusual to see people lined up outside waiting for them to be open. The broth is densely flavored, rich and comforting. It’s a must have whether you live or visit Oahu.

This place can be hit or miss. But when it hits, the broth is flavorful, and thick enough that it clings to the noodles. The noodles, however, aren't the greatest. Not as much flavor and chew as some of the better ramen shops. The egg is almost always over cooked, and not soft and oozy. But the Toroniku pork cheek is very tender, and juicy. Definitely recommend getting that as a side. Overall, it's a pretty good bowl of ramen.

Perhaps my favorite ramen joint because prices are right and portions are on point. The Kara Miso ramen and tsukemen are my favorites. So tasty! They also have small, medium, and large sizes for their ramen, which is awesome if your hunger varies. I love Santouka! Parking is also not too bad at night, so this place is usually a great dinner joint!

The ramen was very good with generous portions of pork cheek and toppings. This is actually a small sit down restaurant with to go options in the food court in front of Don Quixote. All the other restaurants are take out only. The service was great and the AC was wonderful.

Great little ramen shop!!! I think this is my favorite out of all the ramen shops I have tried in Honolulu (and I have tried a lot). Their broth is just right... not too rich and not too water down! I love their kara ramen. There are 3 sizes of ramen bowls you can choose from: small, medium, and large. We usually get the medium size and that is just the right amount for me when I am hungry. The place is small so sometimes there is a bit of a wait, but never too long. I think the longest I have waited was about 15 to 20 mins.

My daughter’s ramen place in Honolulu - although she prefers absolutely no toppings. The hubby and I opted for small rice dishes - grilled salmon and salmon roe, and their version of a loco moco, which included pork bits rather than a hamburger patty. It’s close quarters in the restaurant but they’ve been able to accommodate us every time we’ve come for lunch or dinner.

Food was mediocre, the Santouka in Vancouver Canada is a lot better. I had gotten the salmon don and it was quite fishy. The fiance had gotten shio ramen and found the broth didn't have enough flavor.

(Translated by Google) Speaking of ordinary pork bone ramen in Japan. It is delicious without odor. Eating this ordinary ramen in Hawaii adds ⭐️ to one. The ramen is as others suggest, delicious. The service was unprofessional. Sunday night, 7pm, not terribly busy and a 6 min wait for 2 spots at the counter. 3 wait staff behaved as if we weren't there. Issue 1, they take our order after another couple that sat after us. Not a big deal, but they get their food first and the limited supply ramen I ordered suddenly went out of stock. Issue 2, we get our 2 simple miso ramen 10 min after the couple next to us, chalk it up to luck. Also noticed that tables that come in after us get water glasses right away, we got ours with our food. Issue 3, we're served and they walk away; we have no spoons. I had to ask for them, no apology from staff, just a sense of burden. Issue 4, nearly done with our bowls when we're asked to move away from the counter to a table. They need the counter space for a large group. If they looked at our bowls they could have surmised that we'd be done soon, we ate and finished in 10 min! I've not had such a poor and clueless wait staff experience in a long time. Only reason in writing is to vent and in the hopes (doubtful) that management reads this and uses it in a positive manner. TLDR: great ramen, clueless staff ruined first experience.

(Translated by Google) Never come again. Never come again. Understood Chinese male waiter was trying to do his best, that was just ok.Taste of ramen was also just ok, but it seems like somebody put too much water into the soup which made the whole bowl taste like tap water, which was terrible. I ordered “Kara miso char siu ramen” so the tap taste was diluted with many chilis. And Do n’t forget “anything before‘ but ’means nothing”. I ordered spicy miso char-shumen. The taste was normal, but it seemed quite diluted and the taste of tap water was tight. I was still eaten thanks to a lot of spices and hunger, but I never want to say it again. Menma (Sinachiku) was so bad that I thought it was soaked in tap water. I was glad that the young male clerk who was fluent in English and fluent in Chinese had a good feeling of working hard.
