Not your typical irish bar. Not a fake bicycle or a sewing machine in sight. Small, dark, cosy bar with very attentive bar staff. Good tunes, good drinks and great craic. If you like your sports this would be a good place to go.

Several months ago I was trying to find a place to watch the F1 in English, stumbled across this place and came back every Sunday for the races. Ended up coming here for the champion league matches as well. Charlie and the boys+lass are a lovely bunch. One of the best poured Guinness found here outside of Ireland and it's all I drink when I'm at this pub. Very attentive on the drinks, met several locals, a friendly vibe, and just a lovely pub to visit for some cold bitters any time of the day. Definitely coming back here when I'm in Koeln again.

Authentic pub, a home away from home. A couple of friends and I frequented this pub for a few days back in Feb 2017 and we still talk about it. Charlie is extremely welcoming and genuine, even remembers everyone's name! Cant say enough about this place. 100% will go back.

THE BEST IRISH PUB IN KOLN! The owner has been running this bar for over 20 years and is a Cork native himself. He is warm, attentive and couldn't make you feel more at home. This pub is a MUST if you want to watch the football. Best atmosphere in the city! A tourist stop for sure!

(Translated by Google) Very nice and authentic Irish pub. Many different drinks. The bartenders are also from Ireland and mostly only speak English, which gives the pub even more atmosphere. Don't worry in an emergency, you can also order in German.

Nice little Irish pub, reasonably priced but quite small. It gets very busy when there is football or rugby on the screens. Staff are friendly and the beer was good.

Went here to wash down the revolting kebab we had, spitting distance from the hotel and one of the few bars open last midnight this side of town on a weeknight. Met with a warm welcome, spoke butchered German to each other and got Zwei Guinness bitte. As we were waiting there was a stag group in there who were sat in a group of five that became ten that became fifteen and at that point the manager told them to go away. It takes some confidence to tell a clearly intoxicated group with priors to leave, but the way they behaved on the way out shows just how right he was to get rid of them. Frankfurt is largely ruined by stags in small pockets, much like Krakow, Budapest and other European cities the best man books it with no thought or knowing where is actually good to go so they gravitate to these bars and feel like they can smash everything and fix nothing. A nice Guinness though, lovely service (for us) and fun to see the same distaste for poorly behaved, embarrassing stags abroad is pretty consistent. Would go again.

Great spot for watching the games and always greeted with a friendly smile and hello. Perfect pours and nice conversation. Everyone seems to be in good spirits here and I take it due to the great staff.

Great place. The owner was very friendly. It was busy, but this guy managed to make everyone feel welcome, was pouring drinks, greeting people, cleaning up tables, taking payments. He is super proficient. He's owned the place for 26 years if I recall correctly.

The bartender didn't seem cool with a bunch of us, even though the bar was pretty empty. There were about 10 of us trying to grab a drink, but he was super rude. In the end, he straight up said no to serving us. I don't get why he's so against a group. Maybe racist attitude?

  • 5/5 Brandon 5 months ago on Google • 40 reviews
Amazing service. I was in the mood for whisky, but not in the mood to choose. I asked the bartender, Lucas, to pick me a whisky and he then asked me if I had eaten dinner already. I thought he was wanting to see if I wanted a food menu, but he was actually asking to better pair the whisky based on what I had recently eaten. Was not expecting that. Very knowledgeable about whisky and great service. If you are in Köln stop by for some good whisky.

Visited Barney’s on our trip in cologne to watch the commencement of the rugby World Cup, the service was fantastic, the atmosphere was amazing and everyone just got on really well and 4 pints of some of the best chilled Guinness I’ve had in someone time for less than €20 is phenomenal! A must visit.

Beer was OK, bartender wasn't unfriendly, but even as paying customers he refused to give us the guest wifi pass, insisting there wasn't one to give regardless of the guest network being available... just a bit of a weird vibe.

Friendly chat and service! Simply put, you must stop by for a drink! Charlie is the epitome of Irish charm and hospitality, with an amazing playlist fitting the time of the day. Charlie creates a friendly atmosphere where he creates an easy chat between everyone there. Charlie is very much the Irish patron at the helm of the pub (and does it well), but with his 20 plus years living in Koln is able to give you a number of recommendations. I am a Londener visiting Koln, but whilst in the pub I also saw local Germans in the pub - plus it’s only round the corner from the Koln Cathedral.

Irish pub that's open early on the weekends. Frequented by local ex-pats, owner pretty friendly guy who did his best to make us feel welcome. Overall we had a good experience after spending a couple of hours drinking with friends here, drink prices could be a bit high but not too bad.

  • 1/5 N S. 1 year ago on Google
Very rude bouncer. There was clearly room inside, yet he didn't let us in which was very disappointing as this was one of the few bars in the area that showed the world championship. If you don't want tourists in your pub, why open a pub in the most touristic area with over 4 hotels nearby???

  • 5/5 Joe T. 1 year ago on Google
Came in for one beer, left after about eight. The extremely friendly owner and staff make you feel like a regular. Wide variety of UK and American sport on TV as well, definitely recommend a visit.

A tiny quaint Irish bar just metres from Alter Markt. Very friendly service and a meeting place for Irish ex-pats. (Philosophical discussion topic - is an Irishman ever an ex-Pat?? 🤔🇮🇪) Lots of sport on the TVs. Guinness, of course, but also local kölsch. We were made very welcome by the staff and regulars. Reasonable prices. Handy for Hauptbahnhof transport hub only a few mins walk away.

I went there on a Champions League Wednesday night and they didn't turn the sound on. Actually, no one cared about the match which is ok but then, I'm expecting a good atmosphere with loud music or live bands like any Irish Pubs and nothing happened. No music, no Irish Pubs vibes at all and a tasteless Kilkenny beer diluted with water...

  • 5/5 Oliver H. 9 months ago on Google
A small cozy irish pub.optimal to linger and watch sports. Very nice location, with friendly and funny staff, courteous but not intrusive. The prices of the drinks are comparatively cheap and you can definitely have a good time here!

  • 5/5 Sterling M. 7 months ago on Google
Can't comment on the food, but the kolsch flowed freely, the matches were on in steady rotation, and the bartender is fantastic. A ceiling full of tickets from football matches past, currency from visitors, and everything that could give it charm and character. Just be sure to carry cash on you, just in case! Update, August 2023: They do take credit cards, but you need to hit a total of €25 minimum, so… bring cash anyway, unless you’re buying a round.
