Stunning! So happy to visit here and learn the history of the building and the people who lived here. The palace is beautiful and there are so many interesting details and decorations. The guide was so knowledgeable and friendly. There isn't much for a gift shop but very nice bathrooms.

As the first Rococo style in Germany, this castle is absolutely beautiful. The staircase is the most impressive with colorful marble columns and all kinds of decorative details. This castle is not massively huge but still has lots of rooms. Each of them has different theme and color. The admission to the palace is via a guided tour only and it’s in German. It takes about one hour to finish touring all rooms. An audio guide is included in the entrance fee. So while following the guide, you could listen to the audio in English or other languages you choose. These is a well manicured garden and nice long boulevard leading to the hunting lounge Falkenlust. Be aware there is a long walk from the main palace to the hunting lounge. But the nature is beautiful. The hunting lounge is much smaller but still has the same Rococo style in each single room. The combined ticket is €15. A very reasonable price. And the staff are super friendly. Highly recommend.

The Augustusburg and Falkenlust Palaces form a historical building complex in Brühl, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, which has been listed as a UNESCO cultural World Heritage Site since 1984. The buildings are connected by the spacious gardens and trees of the Schlosspark. Augustusburg Palace (German: Schloss Augustusburg) and its parks also serve as a venue for the Brühl Palace Concerts.

All the plants are clearly well taken care of and very well labeled. There are several different green houses to explore. Of course there is the large Palm greenhouse, But there are also green houses that have sub and Antarctic plans, and a series of interconnected green houses that include plants from rainforest and deserts.

The castle, by and large, is on point. As a student, I paid €7.00 for a ticket plus an audio guide. If you can listen and speak German, there is a guide introducing some main rooms in the castle. The majority of items in the castle are fake 😹. However, if you like rococo art, this castle may be a nice place for you to visit.

Incredibly beautiful castle. I visited this palace with my family during our trip to Germany. The place is really big and can take around 1 hour or more to fully explore. You can get some amazing pictures here. Best place for any kind of photo shoot or shooting. Also it’s not very crowded so it’s like you have the whole place to yourself.

Very beautiful Baroque and Rococo-style castles. It is recommended to buy a combination ticket, which is a 30-minute walk between the two buildings, and you can enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way. The complete tour of the castle takes about two hours. You can take photos inside, but you must be accompanied by a guide.

The palace itself is beautiful and worth a visit if you have time. However, the management has some downsides. Firstly, there is no English guided tour available. Instead, visitors are given a device that provides audio, which is impressive. Nevertheless, it is frustrating that non-German-speaking visitors are required to join a German-speaking tour group. The guides speak German, making the experience unpleasant for those who do not understand the language and stand along like fools. The employees must show empathy towards non-German speaking visitors.

Beautiful rococo palace. The tour is very informative. It takes about an hour. You can park nearby. You should plan about 3 hours in total to visit the garden, walk thru the forest till you get to Falkenlust (a secondary manor for hunting part of the complex). Definitely worth the visit.

The palace gardens are great to walk around with your family. Also, the area is dog friendly. If you are in Bonn or Cologne, this UNESCO site definitely worth a half-day trip. The gardens are suitable for insta photos and wedding photoshoots.

The castle has lovely surrounds a garden. I think that it worth a visit during spring and summer when the fountains are on. The castle is nice, good to see barroco art dated from XVII/XVIII century. They run a guided tour (in German) and offer an audio guide for non German speakers. It's not allowed to take photos inside the castle as well as backpacks/luggage, but they offer a storage for your belongings during your visit. You need put 2 or 1 Euro coin in the storage, that will be given back to you when you finish the tour.

The palace was actually pretty cool but not overwhelmingly so, with the exception of the main entrance with the grand staircase. The next two rooms are interesting as well but not as much. The second best room is definitely the summer dining room at the end of the tour. I was not thrilled with the "English speaking" tour guide. She was fairly difficult to understand, which was partially because of her mask but probably more so because she mispronounced various words. I cannot comment on the gardens because they were sadly closed.

Augustusburg and Falkenlust are very well preserved and top clean palaces. It is possible to visit Augustusburg only with a guided tour, which is however typical in Germany. Tours are in German language, but audioguides are also available in other languages and the guides speak English, of course, so they will be able to answer your questions during the tour. Falkenlust is a little hunt residence and can be visited with audioguides. It is reachable from Augustusburg by a relaxing 30 minutes walk through the park. The place is not crowded (maybe it is not that known), but of course,if you get there in the early opening hours, you won't have to queue such a long time. Tickets cannot be purchased online. Augustusburg ist directly in front of the train station and on the opposite side of the castle building you are in the town centre with many shops, restaurants and bars. It's definitely worth a visit.

Beautiful palace with scenic nature. It’s entry free to visit the outside of the palace. To visit inside of the palace it needs fee. However, it’s temporarily closed to visit inside of the palace.

Rococo jewel of Germany and stunning beauty, but the tour option needs to be improved! Getting to the castle by train was fairly easy, I was quite surprised how close the train station was to the entrance of the castle, not even 100 meter away from the platform. The most stunning views of the castle were exactly from here, from the entrance - the long checker design path leads all the way to the beautiful colored castle - that's what I wanted to see. For visiting the castle I bought a combined ticket for 15 € that entitled me to visit both Augustusburg and Falkenlust castles, but I must say I was highly disappointed with the tour! I was only able to participate in a German speaking guided tour that lasted around one hour, for non-German speakers an audio guide was available (in many languages and free of charge) unfortunately without headphones being provided. So there I was, listening to the audio guide with one ear and the German guide with the other ear not being able to focus on the explanations of either of them. On top of that the audio stories were short (some of them less than a minute) as opposed to the guide's explanation, so I felt like I was missing out. I could not focus therefore I did not enjoy it and the large group of visitors (at least 30% were non-german speakers) murmuring around didn't help either. We were allowed to take pictures only in 3 rooms, luckily the main staircase was one of them. This room was splendid, an absolute marvel and a highlight of the castle,a very photogenic place. The summer dining room was also quite beautiful. As for the rest of the rooms the most interesting part of them were the ceilings, as they were stunning and exceptional. Each room had different coloring and different motifs, however there was not much to see in the rooms apart from the ceiling stucco and beautifully decorated walls, just a few pieces of furniture, certainly not as much as I expected. The library didn't even have books, and if it weren't for the tiles I would not even recognize we visited a bathroom. The gardens with the fountains were nice, however I was not amazed as they were vast and spread out. Unfortunately some parts were not in the best condition as the buxus disease stroked here too. I did enjoy the walk to the Falkenlust castle, which is around 30 minutes walking distance, the alleys leading there were pretty amazing (great wedding picture opportunity). I did enjoy visiting Falkenlust castle as it was less crowded, more compact, equally beautiful and I could explore the rooms on your own with an audio guide. I am giving 5 starts for the beauty and historical meaning of the castle, but my tour experience would be rated much lower. Visited in August 2022.

This was definitely the highlight of my trip to Cologne. I definitely recommend going in the morning to avoid crowds. We went on the longer tour so it was a bit more expensive but definitely worth the price. Obviously not understanding German was a big disadvantage since we were the only foreigners in the group. The German guide seemed to be really engaged with the group and cracked a couple of jokes. However, we received an English audio guide that was really good! It gave more then just the basic information and the language itself was excellent as well. It was also nice to be able to control if you want to listen to some extra content.

Beautiful building, very nice park. Super easy to reach from Cologne both by the regional train that stops right in front of the castle park, and by bike. There is a bike path all the way from downtown Cologne - riding through parks and rolling crop fields. Perfect for a Sunday ride!

Unmissable, historic place in the region south of Cologne. The outside panorama of the Augustusburg castle is amazing. However, I highly recommend the guided castle tour showing some of the impressive rooms and interior including the main staircase. The price for the tour is with 9.50€ really decent.

Beautiful interior and interesting guided tour. There was an English audio guide which was helpful. For anyone needing to sit down during the hour tour, small portable stools were available round the castle. Thoroughly recommended.

We waited for a group to gather to gain entrance and were given the recorders to play in English as the group was mostly German-speaking teenagers with a teacher. The English information was much shorter than what was described in German and the tour would be otherwise much shorter had we been allowed to walk freely through the rooms. Since we had to wait each time for German-speaking guide the tour lasted about an hour.

The tour guide was great! Open to questions, told interesting stories. The staff in the gift shop is polite and kind. Thank you for your work! Especially liked the fact that the territory near the castle is open for walks. It was so nice to walk near the flowers and in the forest. Everything is well taken care of. Thanks again to the people who do it. The only regret is that I didn't buy Farina perfume. I can't forgive myself for this. We will come again 😊

The whole construction site could certainly be concealed more beautifully instead of just with the usual construction fences. The tour was also very interesting. (Translated by Google) Ex elente conservation. Excellent construction and surrounding areas. Walls and building in general. Very medieval Earth and stone paths. Excellent contours between forests and iron bars. All good except that there is no public transport and you can walk from the train station. But over for a walk between typical German houses. Greetings. Saludos.

(Translated by Google) The baroque castle is breathtaking. Unfortunately, the staff that performs the guides is not well trained. They have little to no idea about the baroque. Also, the castle may boast that Giacomo Cassanov has organized a party there. Not quite right. He was at a ball in the castle and gave breakfast the next morning. (Reminiscences of G. Cassanova Vol. 3 Kp.13) (Original) Das Barockschloss ist atemberaubend. I am enthusiastic about heritage, history and culture. Since 35 years, the Brühl Palaces Augustusburg and Falkenlust with their extensive gardens and park grounds are protected by the international “Convention concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural heritage”. So from historical point of view i enjoyed the place which has a great historical and natural heritage legacy.

A beautiful place with a fantastic history. The area is so large that I recommend it for a day trip. It is worth noting that people who do not speak German can get a guide in their own language in the ticket price.

Augustusburg Palace always attracted me and it showed his baroque glamour when it hosted great and noble events when Bonn was still the capital of then West Germany. Today it looks a bit lost, forgotten from its owner. The Versailles-inspired French gardens, however, are still beautiful. I cannot get enough watching them from different angles. Also, don't miss the walk through the forest to Falkenlust Palace, the "Hunting Lodge" of the nobles that once lived there. You will get rewarded with a nice cosy cafe that has everything from coffee, cake to a light lunch.

This is a beautiful place. It takes 15 mins from the Cologne Central Station. Take the train from Cologne to Brühl. The castle is right in front of the station entrance. The garden of the castle is accessible without an entry fee. However, like most castles to go in there is an entry fee of 9€ for adults, students 4€ (Student ID card needs to be presented), children probably €3.5. There are two castles here Augustusburg and Falkenlust which are at 2.5 kms from each other. On a beautiful day the view of the garden and the castles is spectacular. Enjoy:)

Fair price to get some rich insights into the history and significance of these two buildings. Guided tours are to this date still the only way to visit the main building and although the tour is given in German, audio guides are supplied in other languages, among which English. Using a simple numeric code for each room, you'll still get the full information. The gardens separating the Castle from the hunting lodge are well maintained and provide a nice area for a short walk, with a 2.5 km walk (one way) at least if you choose to walk to the lodge, adding the same to get back to your car... Parking at the train station was quite reasonable at 1 Euro per hour. Get in early if you don't want to risk waiting in line just to get into the parking lot!

We arrived quite early in the morning and had the chance to have a tour with only one other person. The lady who made the visit was so nice and explained everything well. We were also able to take some pictures of the place which was very nice. The inside is absolutely beautiful! I also recommend to visit the small house located at the other side of the castle. It’s very nice too and you can visit all by yourself!

Great place to walk through and review history. The on-site guides did a fantastic job providing historical facts, and also advising which rooms pictures/videos are allowed. Enjoy your visit.

Nice castle 🏰 with a beautiful garden, ponds and many free roaming wild geese 🦢 and lovely wild ducks 🦆. There is a small wood around the castle with gravel alleys to walk and relax. Did not get inside, I think it was closed for renovation (Oct. 2022). Just walked around the garden and no ticket was needed for that.

Nice to visit even if you're not going inside. The park is basically vivid during warm temperatures. You can take a long walk there or just relax at one of the little parks around the castle. During the weekend you might see many " just married " couples taking pro images with a photographer 😀 I still believe that the castle(s) need more of an outside make over...some new painting etc...

Had tickets but didn't go in. No entry unless with a tour guide which meant waiting around for 20 mins and then participating in an hour tour. We prefer to tour solo so we nixed that activity. Picked up a magnet from the store and walked outside for about 2 mins to take a couple of pictures.

Amazing castle!!! You must visit this one as the interior is breathtaking & there is a lot of rooms to see, with audioguide in many languages. You have to wait around 20min for a guide to walk you through (you cant visit on your own), and the visit lasts around 1h30.
