This
was
the
last
stop
on
a
road
trip.
We
stayed
in
room
201
for
3
nights
(which
averaged
out
at
just
over
€200
a
night
with
parking).
Great
location,
walking
distance
from
old
town
and
most
tourist
attractions.
The
room
was
well
designed,
spacious
and
had
a
comfortable
bed.
On
the
first
morning
a
Thursday,
we
were
awoken
by
loud
banging,
hammering,
and
drilling
from
the
room/floor
above
at
approximately
8.15
am.
I
called
reception,
they
apologised
and
said
they’d
try
to
find
out
if
any
maintenance
was
planned.
The
work
continued,
with
less
intensity
but
started
again
at
approximately
9.15
am.
I
spoke
to
the
reception
later
and
was
informed
that
the
windows
on
the
floor
above
were
being
replaced,
I
specifically
asked
if
the
same
thing
would
happen
the
next
morning
and
I
was
told
they
were
due
to
be
finished
that
day.
The
next
morning,
we
were
awoken
again
at
about
8
am,
this
time
by
shuffling
and
moving
in
the
room
above
but
the
banging,
hammering,
and
drilling
did
not
start
until
approximately
8.45
am.
I
complained
again
at
reception,
they
apologised
and
gave
us
a
complimentary
breakfast
the
following
morning.
The
staff
were
lovely
but
to
be
honest,
I
would
rather
have
had
better
sleep.
Window
fittings
are
not
random
and
would
likely
have
been
planned
in
advance,
I
asked
the
staff
two
questions
1)
why
not
start
the
work
later
e.g.
after
12
pm
when
guests
are
more
likely
to
be
out?
and
2)
why
put
paying
guests
in
the
vicinity
of
that
noise?
I
did
not
get
any
answers,
just
apologies.
I
can
only
speculate
on
why
the
work
couldn’t
wait
but
it
was
Cologne
carnival
weekend
and
I
assume
it
has
something
to
do
with
the
company
making
more
money
at
the
expense
of
other
paying
guests.
I
would
have
picked
another
hotel
had
I
been
made
aware
of
the
possibility
of
works
taking
place.
This
was
my
first
experience
with
the
NH
chain
and
unfortunately,
it
will
most
likely
be
my
last.
