The hotel is not that bad. However, after I checked out they marked my reservation as a “no show” which made Booking.com withdraw the amount from my credit even though I did stay as per my reservation and I did pay at the property the full amount! That gave so much trouble and effort playing cat and mouse with Booking.com to reverse that withdrawal!

+ The staff is very nice. + The hotel is well located The room is quite classic. - The huge problem is that it is noisy. You ear every one taking a shower or flushing the toilet. You also ear the a lot from the outside (people talking in the street, the bells ringing,...)

I paid a lot because it was Cologne Pride weekend, which I didn't realise in advance. Nevertheless, I expected an excellent service for 550€ for a 2 night stay. Even for half that price I would expect a better service. Two examples: 1. Upon check-in, the receptionist told me that we could help the environment (save the planet!) by not changing the sheets and towels for the 2nd night. In return, I would get 2 drinks from the bar. The drinks weren't really necessary for me. I agreed, cause who needs new sheets every night? I didn't realise the staff would'nt even come to make our bed (with the "old" sheets) and check the toilet paper supply. Anyway, nobody came & that was disappointing cause it's a big part of a hotel expercience & I don't get how we save the environment by not having our bed made in a hotel. 2. I checked out quite early (8:30, but I was "allowed" to check out at 12:00) on Sunday. I figured that is easier for the cleaning staff. We had an activity booked untill 11 am. I told the receptionist (not the same one) we would come and pick up our suitcase at 11 am and enjoy a quick swim before driving back to Belgium. It was 34°C. He told us we had checked out and were not allowed to use the swimming pool anymore. I really regretted checking out at that point. Also, I was really dissapointed he didn't allow us in the pool at such a hot day, "after" a 2 night stay. My son lost his watch and went back to the hotel to go and look for it. There was another receptionist then and my son told me he was really friendly.

Very nice hotel that we stayed in. The location is very good, in walking distance from the main attractions of the city. The staff was very helpfull. The only downside was that the hotel can be noisy, especially when you leave the window open at night.

Nice hotel, good service. Every day is the same breakfast, but there is few possibilities to eat something. For me is not enough vegetables. Only one type fresh fruits. Rooms are clean but right now there is no cleaning service because of Corona, but if you need change your towels, there is no problem and the service will give you new one. Parking is for 19€ per day. I recommended

would definitely reccommend! the room was nice, with a very comfortable bed, balcony, and a good bathroom. delicious breakfast buffet! the staff were also very friendly, helpful, and multilingual. the hotel is in a great location for getting around köln. my only small complaint would be that the rooms don’t seem very soundproof - i could clearly hear people talking and walking in the hallways from my room at night, which could be a problem if you are a light sleeper or when the hotel is very busy.

Good place to stay , correct pricing , friendly and efficient service , good breakfast , noise free room , possibility to open window to refresh room. Best and safe car parking , large parking place , completely reserved for the hotel guests.

The pool offers a pleasant experience with a comfortable temperature, but it's disappointing that the sauna incurs an additional fee. The 'fitness area' is quite basic, only three motion machines and one weightlifting apparatus that doesn't function properly, with no availability of free weights. The highlight of the stay was the continental breakfast. The buffet provided an extensive array of options. Regarding the room, it was satisfactory, although the absence of a minibar and an unpleasant smell from the bathroom pipes slightly impacted the comfort. One of the hotel's major drawbacks was the lack of sound isolation. The street noise was easily heard, and the hourly bell from the nearby church, especially until 23:00 and again from 7:00, significantly disrupted sleep. For those planning to rest beyond 7:00, do not even think about choosing this hotel and consider other options. Quite expensive hotel for a 4 star hotel, which doesn't really feel like one.

We are a family of 4 so we took the family room at Lyskirchen. The room was very spacious and well equipped (with a kitchen, big bathroom and large balcony/outdoor sitting area). The beds were comformatable (also the sofa bed for the children), the only thing was that our airconditioning was not working at all. So during the summer it was really hot in the room, but we didn't want to indicate this as we were very happy with the hotel. Do take into account that the family rooms are in an adjacent building which does not have an elevator. So you will have to take the stairs, which is fine but we were travelling with quite some luggage so, it was a proper exercise. We made use of the pool and also the breakfast buffet which were both lovely. The hotel is at walking distance from the city center, from the big ferriswheel, from the chocolate museum and it has an underground parking, so we were very happy with Hotel Lyskirchen in total.

We had a great stay at this hotel. Not sure why some reviews mention the pool being cold as we found it to be lovely and warm, maybe they went in at times they shouldn't and the heating was turned off? The older gentleman with grey hair on reception was brilliant and very helpful couldn't have asked for more from him. We didn't have breakfast but the coffee was great. Rooms are a nice size some might find the shower in the room about weird but it's quite common in Germany and Switzerland. Ok when you are with your partner but a bit awkward when sharing with a friend. We really liked the fact they are trying to save water and cleaning products by offering you a free drink instead of having your towels and sheets changed. Would recommend this place if you are visiting the old town area.

Good clean hotel and good attentive staff. Only mild issue I had were church bells ringing from 6am, however this was all part of the charm!

The room was basic but good enough for our short stay. Only the toilet is in separate room, the shower and sink are right there next to the bed. Unless you're a couple, I probably wouldn't suggest staying there. The heated pool is good too. The temperature was warm enough. However it's uniform depth throughout the pool, at about 1.3m ish. No shallow end for kids.

Very nice hotel if you’re visiting Cologne. The room are really spacious, clean, and comfy. View from my room was pretty good, from the 4th and last floor. The pool was also really nice. I would definitely recommend !

The hotel looks like the pictures. Front desk and lobby not very stylish and impersonal. Beds are very comfortable, bathroom ok: if going with friend or colleague a bit of lack of intimacy, good size for the rooms.

Great little hotel. Convenient to walk down town and over the river to the expo center. Lovely breakfasts and nice staff

I really liked the room design and the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Only thing that threw me off was the bathroom door made out of translucent glass. Weird design choice.

Staying here now... asked for some ice to take to our room, but refused! Why, who knows... but I'm sure they must have ice for drinks at the bar... very disappointing for such a highly rated hotel. Last year at this time for our stay, ice was not a problem... Maybe we will find somewhere different next year

I stood for 4, nights and 3 days and I can say it was very pleasant, staff are very kind, and spoke English really well (although I tried to speak in German there was times I struggled) the room was clean and pretty, even with a coffe machine that they supply everyday (used it once) the breakfast was okay, there is enough space in the diningroom, and there is a space for beverages at the side of the reception (you have to buy them) the pool may be a let down for me, it was FREEZING and I get we are in summer but I couldn't get in more than my hips and decided to get out 😂 there is a gym at the side and there is also a Spa but is extra, as a recommendation, if you can avoid floor 1 and 2, do it, the streets are a bit noisy and if I could hear them clearly at floor 3, floor 1 was probably annoyed, overall, a bit pricey for me, but it was a really good experience.

Pros: Clean, comfortable, quiet Staff is friendly, helpful, available Well located: less than 10 min from city inner center by foot, and very close to pedestrians area along the Rhin Cons: A bit expensive ? (parking and breakfast in particular)

The service is super and so is the location. They are renovating so it’s a bit tricky to get around inside and the pool area is not great, feels not so clean and quite old. We had some smaller issues in the room and it drives me crazy that they don’t have any place to hang towels or coats or put shoes… but overall good, service helps a lot!

Room was ok; however the drain in the shower had a very bad smell. We asked for a room change, but was not possible (fully booked). Hygiene in general can be improved. Breakfast was average, but expensive. Location was good.

There was no mini bar/fridge in our room, once upon a time there clearly was though.. The air-conditioning sounded like there was an airplane taking off. The sleeping pillows give no support! The bathroom only has an all-in-one shampoo/shower gell tube, the make-up mirror is mounted way too high upon the wall and there are no bathrobes so you can go to the NOT HEATED swimming pool, where they have SHARED changing rooms.. one for men and one for women. The parking garage is really small and expensive for €22 a night, you also have to ask to get in and out. They took the hotel payment out of our bank 2! days before arrival, even though we were still able to cancel without charge! They are also doing constructions inside the hotel. On the floors with rooms.. this is not even shared on their website or even when checking in. So we had some nice surprise views of some buttcracks. We won't be returning, for the same price or a little bit more you can get a lot better!

Good Hotel. I was given a room that was fully used. And had to explain myself. I got another room. Which is great. The service was good.

The hotel is in an amazing location! We had the apartment style room. AMAZING! Very spacious. Your close to everything 5 min walk to museums and restaurants. Inside the room we had a kitchen with all the cooking equipment, a fridge, stove top and microwave. The bathroom was a decent size with a walk in shower. No elevator to this particular room but it wasn't a bad walk up the stairs either. If I visit Cologn again, I will definitely stay here.

Even though we had a problem with our air conditioner in the room, the staff was happy to help and in no time the issue was solved. The rest of the stay was pleasant and quiet. Thank you so much! PS. Breakfast wasn't as good as we expected.

It has cozy accommodation very comfortable and the breakfast is very good. The crew is very kind and the hotel location is key: close to main station (Hbf) and in the nicer portion of city center of Cologne.

The hotel is very good, clean, comfortable and roomy. The employees are very kind. The shower has a lot of pressure, it was great to take showers. We liked very much to stay at Lyskirchen. The location is great! The only things we didn't like very much was the fact that the double bed was actually two single beds put together and sometimes at night there was like a little hole at the bed. Even though, the mattress is really cozy. The other thing we didn't like was the size of the blankets, they were good, but very small. The only thing we didn't like at all was the pillows, because they don't have a "structure", they are the opposite of hard structured pillows. But pillows types are very particular. So, we liked very much to stay there.

I’d have to be pretty picky to give this place less than five stars. It’s in a perfect central location, is very clean and comfortable, and priced quite reasonably. It neighbours a church or two with bells that chime very loudly in the afternoon but sound quite lovely. All up I’m quite happy with the hotel.

Nice hotel close to the city center. Rooms are clean. Having a swimmig pool is great after a long day of walking through the city. Only downside for us was the noise from the streets around the hotel, however that is something that is part of city life.

Avoid this hotel. Rude receptionist. Poor service. Cold breakfast. Broken shower. Un-clean leisure centre. Poor quality products. Cold room on arrival. Good location and decent size room

We loved this hotel! It was very central so we could walk everywhere. The room was really clean and comfortable. The hotel was quite so we both had a great sleep. I used the pool which was also lovely. I'd definitely recommend this hotel for a great break in Cologne at a reasonable price. We were upgrade from an economy room to a double which was fantastic.

  • 5/5 Susan A. 1 year ago on Google
Returned here after 15 years. Just as good as I remembered. I booked the economy single room and it is very small but was fine for me. Well maintained room and shower. If you go along with their eco-friendly idea of not wanting fresh towels every day, they give you a voucher for free drink or beverage. Excellent. There is a small pool and gym on the first floor which wasn't crowded when I was there. Wide choice of food at breakfast (it offers only breakfast but many restaurants/bars/cafes nearby). All the staff were friendly and welcoming. 😊

Me and my friend have just returned from 4 nights staying here. Overall a good experience. Had a problem with a lamp in the room so got moved to another room. Room was clean and comfortable. Location is very good - 5 minute walk to Heumarkt where you can get the tram around the city and about a 10-15 minute walk to the shops and cathedral. Pool is nice to cool off in after a warm day but be careful getting in! I slipped and have a huge bruise so was too worried to get in again. My friend enjoyed the pool though but we did see someone else slip getting in. Nice air conditioned gym too. No kettle in room so asked for one which was no hassle. REWE supermarket 7 minute walk away.

The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are amazing. The service was great. However I felt the night receptionist a little bit rude but I think it was just my perception.

  • 2/5 Christina T. 1 year ago on Google
Definitely not a 4 star hotel and it shouldn't be advertised as such. Please change people's sheets without them having to ask. Please have ice available for when your guests ask for some ice. Lot's more could be said but I'll leave it at that.

Lovely hotel a nice walk from Cologne station. Right on the Riverside and not far from the centre. Couldn't have the pool heaters on or the sauna because of Putin and his tyranny so we went in the pool cold but that was refreshing. Good service and friendly staff.

Very good value, super location, very friendly staff. Upgraded to a large room without even asking. Beds and linen super comfortable. Would recommend. The only negative was that the swimming pool was a little chilly, and I’m used to swimming in the Irish Sea.

  • 5/5 George J. 1 year ago on Google
Enjoyed our stay here in December. Good location (walking distance to the Huemarket), the room was comfortable, and staff were very friendly and helpful. Gym is okay - no free weights (although website claims to have free weights). Good sized swimming pool too if you're into that! Overall, I'd recommend staying here for a weekend getaway!

We enjoyed our stay. Check in of the rooms is at 15h which was ok for us, but we would appreciate it we could already parked our car in the hotel parking from 12h. If check out is at 12h, than there are parking spots available from 12h.
