Hotel neglected to mention major construction going on directly in front and to the side of the hotel. Super loud all day! I paid for an upgraded room w a view of the cathedral and all I got was a construction site. It's going to be at least 8 months before construction is done. Room was marginally clean. Breakfast was good. TV didn't work. Room wasn't ready at 2.....not a great stay

Not sure why people have given this hotel such good ratings - mostly they seem to be from a year or more ago. It is well located in terms of the Cathedral but also there is a massive construction operation underway right outside the hotel. I have seen responses to reviews which say the hotel are constantly in touch with the builders to keep the noise down - well it isn't working! In October 2022 they are using pile drivers which start at 6.30am until 6pm and are incredibly loud. The rooms are hot so you can't shut the windows - it's really bad. Also: - no air-con - no tea and coffee making facilities - no fridge or mini-bar - pillows are terrible - very bad smell from the shower

Good location but there is a huge construction project next to the hotel, every day and it is very noisy. It will be completed in 2026. Also, temperature is controlled by a tablet in the room and ours never worked because of lack of internet connection Breakfast was good until we discovered a mouse in the breakfast area. We informed the stuff and they just laughed.

You can enjoy a view of the Christmas market from the stylish hotel window, and the breakfast is both nice and satisfying. The hotel's proximity to the train station makes it one of the best to visit. The hotel has numerous bars, restaurants, and venues located underneath it. Its close proximity to nearby shopping centers makes it a great opportunity. I strongly suggest you consider staying at this hotel.

I should have read the reviews a little closer. This hotel is owned by Früh, one of Cologne's most famous beer brands. The single room was decorated with a giant pint of Kölsch, on a wooden board. It was not classy. The entire place gives off a student dork vibe and is not inexpensive. Great breakfast though.

The hotel staff was correct and did their job, if not altogether friendly. The rooms themselves were clean and modern. A bit small but okay. The breakfast buffet was decent. Although not directly the hotel's fault, they placed me in a room in front of which a building was being demolished and a big construction site. ( photos attached) , and so I got no rest at all. I wish the staff had told me this was going to be an issue. Update: Aug 2023: stayed there again and it was a much better experience.

Very helpful and attentive staff. They gave me many tips and kindly printed out my boarding pass for the return flight. The hotel is very centrally located., just a two minute walk from the central station. On the way, you can enjoy the view of the cathedral. I will come back.

I'd like to give it 10 stars for location! Central to everything. Double room was very spacious with a great walk in shower. No a/c in any rooms, probably cos it's 3 star hotel. We were there in hot weather🥵, so one to be mindful of. There was an electric cooling fan though in the room Finally, there was major construction project ongoing in front of hotel which starts at 7am Mon- Fri. Not the hotel's fault but it is very noisy so try for room at back.

Ordinary hotel in an extraordinary location There is nothing great to talk about this bland hotel, apart from its stunning location right next to the iconic DOM cathedral. What made the stay a bit unfavourable was the high price we had to pay for a basic room in a bland hotel LOCATION: steps away from the Cathedral and a few minutes' walk from the Train station DINE + DRINK: the iconic FRUH Kolsch pub is right outside the hotel as this place is owned by them ROOM: We stayed in Room 204, so this review is based on that; VIEW: Partial view of the Dom Cathedral; SIZE: Very spacious room; AIR-CON: No Air conditioner in the room, and only a lame fan!! So it was quite hot throughout the day! BATHROOM: Stand-in shower; TOILETRIES: Decent quality cosmetics FACILITIES: No Gym or pool on site. SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all our needs with a smile and made us feel at home, and well taken care of. HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free high-speed Wi-Fi that works well all over the property. Big Plasma TV screen dishing out dozens of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies and a wide variety of entertainment in multiple languages

Good hotel, in the middle of Cologne. The interior is simple but effective, the bed was comfortable. We enjoyed the breakfast and we were pleased with the people at the front desk. The central location is the big plus here.

I loved staying here, its the perfect location for Köln. My room in particular did have quite a bit of noise from outside my room, and the bed isn't quite comfortable. After a few kölsch and ghülwien it's acceptable. Location really is the best you can get, and all things considered it is a very good value.

Friendly staff, clean rooms. There are no fridges & coffee/tea making facilities in the rooms which we missed a bit. Otherwise we had a pleasant stay.

The hotel is pretty close to the Cathedral and main train station and old town as well. Nice clean rooms, breakfast good, but average. Overall a good choice to stay in the city center.

Right next to the Cathedral: The location is the main selling point and it’s excellent. 2 minutes to the Cathedral and museums. While a little dated, the hotel is clean. Very good value.

Very friendly staff, with a good knowledge of the English language. The rooms and bathrooms are very clean and comfortable. There's a tablet in the room on which you can get information about the POI, the hotel, the city, ... Recommended!

Stayed for 14 days. Never again. Room to small for 3 people. Beds very hard. No air conditioner (not a problem in itself) had to open windows for air and smelled sewage every night. We had to ask twice to replace toilet tissue. No refrigerator or coffee pot. Free warm Carbonated water. Still water was 7 eros. Staff was snobby. Elevator was not level with floor. They fixed it only after I tripped and fell. I'm 68 and laid on the floor for 5 flights. Could only do limited activities for the last 3 days of our vacation because I was bruised up from the fall. Staff asked me if I wanted something for the pain and gave me a token for a free beer. Not worth half of what we paid. Charged full stay first night so couldn't afford to change hotels. Very disappointed.

Very good hotel in the heart of koln. One of the better hotels in the city only let down by the inflated rates charged when there is an event on at koln messe ( all hotels in koln do this). If you can time your trip around the events you will get a good deal

We stayed here at a very good price on Easter Sunday and Monday night, as our base for Phantasialand. The location was absolutely ideal, as it is less than 5 minutes walk to the train station. The room was comfortable with a good shower and nice bathroom in general. We had one breakfast, it had all the usual buffet options. The main problem was the construction work outside, the drilling and kango hammering started before 7am this morning. This must be quite a headache for the hotel, in more ways than one. It is clearly mentioned on the hotel website but we didn't see it on Booking.com where we booked. The staff were pleasant and friendly, especially on check out this morning. I'd recommend a stay here, once the journeying to the centre of the earth via giant drills and kango hammers out front is completed.

Love the location of this hotel, right next to the Kölner Dom. We were there for the Christmas market, very festive!

A good access from/to the cathedral. My room was big and cleaned enough. A baby cot was prepared already for my small daughter even though I had not requested. Breakfast was good with a great view of the cathedral. But only one negative point, the hotel should not say "cathedral view" about this room. It was not what most of people expect of "cathedral view".

Best hotel throughout my 5 weeks stay in Europe (even better than the 4 star hotel in Paris). Excellent location, minutes walk to train, attractions, eateries, and shops. The room is massive and clean with views of the Cologne Cathedral. Wished I could stay longer.

We've just got back from a 5 day stay at the hotel and it was perfect. The location is excellent and although some reviews mention the building work going on it didn't make any difference to our stay, you have to expect this in a city centre! The staff were all very nice and helpful and the breakfast was a great start to the day with so much choice. I would definitely stay here again. 10/10 well done!

Very friendly staff. The rooms are a nice size, super clean. Parking garage very close to the hotel. Super close to the Dom and all the shopping/restaurants you could ask for. Hight recommend this place to stay.

The room was extremely dated with old furniture and scuffed up doorways and walls. The bathroom was tiny, shower the size of a phone booth and again, extremely dated. The only positive was I paid additional money for a view of the cathedral. The view was amazing but the room was absolutely gross and reeked like onions/food so intensely it was difficult to sleep. Clothing and jacket smelled. I'm puzzled by other reviews that talk about rain showers and how lovely their room was. This was not my experience. Very disappointed and would not stay there again.

It is SO NOISY. Construction right outside our window, it'd be nice to be out on the other side, away from the noise. Asked if we can enjoy the terrace view and we're told it is closed, no explanation why.

Great location. Nice, clean rooms. Minibar. Great breakfast.

Beware: freezing rooms! The location is great and the staff are as friendly and helpful as they can be. But be warned: they have turned down the heating to almost non-existent. The thermostats in the rooms are locked and can only be controlled from reception. Think it's safe to say that the owners are trying to save on energy costs this winter... to the detriment of guests' comfort. Oh well. Willkommen in Deutschland.

very nice personnel. hotel is in the city centre so it can get noisy (for light sleepers), but employees intervened and made sure we get quiet room. breakfast spread could be better, but is very sufficient. everything is very close to the hotel, old town, main railway station (5 minutes walk), promenade along the river. would recommend.

Absolutely loved this hotel!! Staff was super friendly and upgraded our room at no cost upon arrival. Had a great corner room with 4 floor to ceiling double doors which fully opened up, wood floors, very clean bathroom, great breakfast buffet and views of Domplatte Cathedral. What more could one ask for! I’d give more stars if possible.

The regular bed was nice but the sofabed (we had a family room) was not very comfortable. Bathrooms were really nice. For the standard we would have expected a fridge to keep drinks cool, although reception did give us a couple of small cups of ice. The room was very noisy and far too hot, and it was not even a major heatwave (28C outside, hotter in the room). I would not recommend while there is construction (which seems to "officially" start at 7 but at 6am they start getting their cranes ready already and does not fully wrap up the noise until 6pm) and in temperatures above 20 as then it is impossible not to open the windows.

Huge rooms by European standards. Great location! Gal at the receiving desk was very professional and spoke excellent English. Great view of the Cathedral. I thought the breakfast was very good. Minor negatives include hard to adjust temperature control on the tablet-computer control panel and beds were a little too firm by my tastes. Still 4.5 stars. I would stay here again....

Location is very nice, unfortunately there was a construction site next to the hotel so there was a lot of noise in the early morning till the afternoon. The room was nice but very warm. The service, nobody but one lady in the breakfast room made any impact, she deserves a raise for sure.We had free wifi but we couldn't get a connection so it was useless.

Never payed that much money for so little. Cost us about 200 Euros per night for a room for 2. First of all, it was about 30-35 degrees celsius in Köln during our wisit and equally hot in our room. No aircondition, just a fan that really did not do anything for the Heat. Secondly, the WIFI did not work. Thirdly, there was nothing in our room, stuff like glasses, bottle opener, sope, pen and paper etc… nothing. Lastly, there is no minibar / fridge… Come on, for 200 euros a night I was sleeping inn 30 degrees celsius, could not store cold drinks and had no WIFI do wright this review.

Very nice hotel, in the middle of everything. The staff is very friendly and the room is clean and a very good size. BUT ... It's near the Dom Catedral. The bells were ringing for 10 minutes every hour on Sunday... It really was hard for us ; we are not used to it. Take that under advisement

The rooms aren't very good. The beds are too hard and thin, the pillows are pretty much air in a pillow case, the shower is too small, and there is a 5ft tall beer advertisement attached to the coat rack. The breakfast is great though, and if your here for the Christmas market it's 50 ft away from the entrance. If you're not here for that, get a different place.
